Why You Should Go Vegan

2023.03.22 10:01 sw_faulty Why You Should Go Vegan

According to The Vegan Society:
"Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals."

1. Ethics

1.1 Sentience of Animals

I care about other human beings because I know that they are having a subjective experience. I know that, like me, they can be happy, anxious, angry or upset. I generally don't want them to die (outside of euthanasia), both because of the pain involved and because their subjective experience will end, precluding further happiness. Their subjective experience is also why I treat them with respect them as individuals, such as seeking their consent for sex and leaving them free from arbitrary physical pain and mental abuse. Our society has enshrined these concepts into legal rights, but like me, I doubt your appreciation for these rights stems from their legality, but rather because of their effect (their benefit) on us as people.
Many non-human animals also seem to be having subjective experiences, and care for one another just like humans do. It's easy to find videos of vertebrates playing with one another, showing concern, or grieving loss. Humans have understood that animals are sentient for centuries. We've come to the point that laws are being passed acknowledging that fact. Even invertebrates can feel pain. In one experiment, fruit flies learned to avoid odours associated with electric shocks. In another, they were given an analgesic which let them pass through a heated tube, which they had previously avoided. Some invertebrates show hallmarks of emotional states, such as honeybees, which can develop a pessimistic cognitive bias.
If you've had pets, you know that they have a personality. My old cat was lazy but friendly. My current cat is inquisitive and playful. In the sense that they have a personality, they are persons. Animals are people. Most of us learn not to arbitrarily hurt other people for our own whims, and when we find out we have hurt someone, we feel shame and guilt. We should be vegan for the same reason we shouldn't kill and eat human beings: all sentient animals, including humans, are having a subjective experience and can feel pain, enjoy happiness and fear death. Ending that subjective experience is wrong. Intentionally hurting that sentient being is wrong. Paying someone else to do it for you doesn't make it better.

1.2 The Brutalisation of Society

There are about 8 billion human beings on the planet. Every year, our society breeds, exploits and kills about 70 billion land animals. The number of marine animals isn't tracked (it's measured by weight - 100 billion tons per year), but it's likely in the trillions. Those are animals that are sexually assaulted to cause them to reproduce, kept in horrendous conditions, and then gased to death or stabbed in the throat or thrown on a conveyor belt and blended with a macerator.
It's hard to quantify what this system does to humans. We know abusing animals is a predictor of anti-social personality disorder. Dehumanising opponents and subaltern peoples by comparing them to animals has a long history in racist propaganda, and especially in war propaganda. The hierarchies of nation, race and gender are complemented by the hierarchy of species. If humans were more compassionate to all kinds of sentient life, I'd hope that murder, racism and war would be more difficult for a normal person to conceive of doing. I think that treating species as a hierarchy, with life at the bottom of that hierarchy treated as a commodity, makes our society more brutal. I want a compassionate society.
To justify the abuse of sentient beings by appealing to the pleasure we get from eating them seems to me like a kind of socially acceptable psychopathy. We can and should do better.

2. Environment

2.1 Greenhouse Gas Emissions

A 2013 study found that animal agriculture is responsible for the emission 7.1 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per year, or 14.5% of human emissions.
A 2021 study increased that estimate to 9.8 gigatonnes, or 21% of human emissions.
This is why the individual emissions figures for animal vs plant foods are so stark, ranging from 60kg of CO2 equivalent for a kilo of beef, down to 300g for a kilo of nuts.
To limit global warming to 1.5 degrees by 2100, humanity needs to reduce its emissions by 45% by 2030, and become net zero by 2050.
Imagine if we achieve this goal by lowering emissions from everything else, but continue to kill and eat animals for our pleasure. That means we will have to find some way to suck carbon and methane out of the air to the tune of 14.5-21% of our current annual emissions (which is projected to increase as China and India increase their wealth and pick up the Standard American Diet). We will need to do this while still dedicating vast quantities of our land to growing crops and pastures for animals to feed on. Currently, 77% of the world's agricultural land is used for animal agriculture. So instead of freeing up that land to grow trees, sucking carbon out of the air, and making our task easier, we would instead choose to make our already hard task even harder.

2.2 Pollution

Runoff from farms (some for animals, others using animal manure as fertiliser) is destroying the ecosystems of many rivers, lakes and coastlines.
I'm sure you've seen aerial and satellite photographs of horrific pigshit lagoons, coloured green and pink from the bacteria growing in them. When the farms flood, such as during hurricanes, that pig slurry spills over and infects whole regions with salmonella and listeria. Of course, even without hurricanes, animal manure is the main source of such bacteria in plant foods.

2.3 Water and Land Use

No food system can overcome the laws of thermodynamics. Feeding plants to an animal will produce fewer calories for humans than eating plants directly (this is called 'trophic levels'). The ratio varies from 3% efficiency for cattle, to 9% for pigs, to 13% for chickens, to 17% for dairy and eggs.
This inefficiency makes the previously mentioned 77% of arable land used for animal agriculture very troubling. 10% of the world was food insecure in 2020, up from 8.4% in 2019. Humanity is still experiencing population growth, so food insecurity will get worse in the future. We need to replace animal food with plant food just to stop people in the global periphery starving to death. Remember that food is a global commodity, so increased demand for soya-fed beef cattle in Brazil means increased costs around the world for beef, soya, and things that could have been grown in place of the soya.
Water resources are already becoming strained, even in developed countries like America, Britain and Germany. Like in the Soviet Union with the Aral Sea, America is actually causing some lakes, like the Great Salt Lake in Utah, to dry up due to agricultural irrigation. Rather than for cotton as with the Aral Sea, this is mostly for the sake of animal feed. 86.6% of irrigated water in Utah goes to alfalfa, pasture land and grass hay. A cloud of toxic dust kicked up from the dry lake bed will eventually envelop Salt Lake City, for the sake of an industry only worth 3% of the state's GDP.
Comparisons of water footprints for animal vs plant foods are gobsmacking, because pastures and feed crops take up so much space. As water resources become more scarce in the future thanks to the depletion of acquifers and changing weather patterns, human civilisation will have to choose either to use its water to produce more efficient plant foods, or eat a luxury that causes needless suffering for all involved.

3. Health

3.1 Carcinogens, Cholesterol and Saturated Fat in Animal Products

In 2015, the World Health Organisation reviewed 800 studies, and concluded that red meat is a Group 2A carcinogen, while processed meat is a Group 1 carcinogen. The cause is things like salts and other preservatives in processed meat, and the heme iron present in all meat, which causes oxidative stress.
Cholesterol and saturated fat from animal foods have been known to cause heart disease for half a century, dating back to studies like the LA Veterans Trial in 1969, and the North Karelia Project in 1972. Heart disease killed 700,000 Americans in 2020, almost twice as many as died from Covid-19.

3.2 Antimicrobial Resistance

A majority of antimicrobials sold globally are fed to livestock, with America using about 80% for this purpose. The UN has declared antimicrobial resistance to be one of the 10 top global public health threats facing humanity, and a major cause of AMR is overuse.

3.3 Zoonotic Spillover

Intensive animal farming has been called a "petri dish for pathogens" with potential to "spark the next pandemic". Pathogens that have recently spilled over from animals to humans include:
1996 and 2013 avian flu
2003 SARS
2009 swine flu
2019 Covid-19,

3.4 Worker Health

Killing a neverending stream of terrified, screaming sentient beings is the stuff of nightmares. After their first kill, slaugherhouse workers report suffering from increased levels of: trauma, intense shock, paranoia, fear, anxiety, guilt, and shame.
Besides wrecking their mental health, it can also wreck their physical health. In 2007, 24 slaugherhouse workers in Minnesota began suffering from an autoimmune disease caused by inhaling aerosolised pig brains. Pig brains were lodged in the workers' lungs. Because pig and human brains are so similar, the workers' immune systems began attacking their own nervous systems.
The psychopathic animal agriculture industry is not beyond exploiting children and even slaves.

Sustainable Design in the built environment and the negatives that follow with it (QVC3101)
With the Built environment being one of the heaviest polluting industries, it is vital that measures are put in place to combat this. With the introduction of sustainable design, numerous principles and techniques have developed over the years. This essay will cover sustainable design in the built environment, what it sustainable design is, its history and how there are still negative impacts that happen from sustainable design
What is Sustainable Design
Sustainable design is the action to reduce the negative impacts that the built environment has on the environment. Sustainable design focuses on different principles, methods and materials that are usable and environmentally conscious. Some of the main principles are to optimise the potential of a site; minimise non-renewable energy consumption; use products that are safe for the environment; conserve water; enhance indoor environmental quality, and optimise maintenance and operational practice. Sustainable design is still an early concept and is often misinterpreted differently by different people. The majority of buildings are less sustainable than some may claim to be. This is not because sustainability is a failed ideology; it is because of the difficulty it takes to change a very complex building system. According to Jason F McLennan, the author of ‘The Philosophy of Sustainable Design, buildings cannot be called sustainable because the building itself is not sustainable, the building should be green, and the word sustainable should be left for the truly sustainable building. These genuinely sustainable buildings are buildings that have no negative operational impacts on the environment (McLennan et al., 2006). Sustainable design can be looked at as responsibility and respect for the environment. The designers who believe this provide both a product and a service to the people and the environment. To achieve sustainable design there is also a guide of strategies and technologies the designer can make use of to achieve sustainability, such as using good daylight, ensuring healthy indoor air quality by making use of natural ventilation, passive solar heating, energy efficiency, minimal construction waste, renewable energy and natural landscaping to reduce the need of damaging the environment. The figure below shows an example of sustainable architecture. This building is located in Melbourne, Australia. It is Australia’s first carbon-neutral building, and it generates its own water and electricity and provides shade while still receiving a sufficient amount of daylight and the use of vertical turbines.

Figure 1: (Wong, Pixel Building (Melbourne, Australia) 2020)

Figure 2: (Kai, One Central Park, Sydney, Australia) 2020)

Figure 2 shows One central park located in Sydney, Australia, making use of over 250 species of plants to provide natural shading and cleaner air. The building also uses 25% less emissions than any other building its size.
Sustainability design does not only focus on looking after the environment but as well as focusing on the health and comfort of the users of the building. It is crucial that the building needs to satisfy the user in order to ensure a positive and efficient work environment. This will increase productivity and potentially create a more successful business or living space. The user experience is also the deciding factor on the success of sustainable buildings. If the sustainable building has multiple negative impacts or a poor experience for the user, then sustainable buildings will become an unpopular choice regardless of it is environmentally friendly. A positive user experience is a positive incorporation of more sustainable buildings. Users will be more willing to spend the extra cost for a sustainable building.
History of Sustainable Design
Sustainability is derived from the study of human activity in the environment. Solutions for sustainability had begun in 1798 by a British philosopher Thomas Malthus who published a well-known “theory of human population”. Thomas Malthus’s theory explains how the human population grows faster than the resources that the earth can provide and how food production will struggle to keep up with human demand. We can still see this today. The first time the term “sustainable development” appeared in an official document was in 1969. Thirty-three African countries signed this document to bring conservation to nature. This was under the International Union of Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The Environmental Protection Agency was then set up later that year by the United States. These protection programmes all have the same goal of benefiting both current and future generations whilst the planet still maintains a healthy supply of resources. Later on, in 1987, the United Nations then introduced sustainability for the first time in the well-known “Brundtland Report,” which was produced by many countries in the United Nations (Brundtland, 2017) Majority of early green architecture was a response to climate change, heating and sewage removal due to cities gaining in population amount. One of the earliest examples of using natural elements for sustainability was seen during the
ancient Greece times. Around the fifth century BC Greece had almost no trees due to the high demand for firewood for warmth from the ever-growing population. This led to the more vernacular designs of their homes in, which brought in the lower winter sun to shine into their homes, therefore, heating their homes. This also countered the overheating from the summer sun. The greeks also took into consideration the angels of which ways the house was facing to combat the cold winds. The famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright was one of few of the very first Architects to incorporate early modernist green precedents (Tabb et al., 2017)

Figure 3: (Drawing for early Roman Domus, VRoma Project 2014)
Frank Lloyd Wright believed that buildings must not overcome their surroundings but embrace it and blend in. In the figure below is one of Frank Lloyds Wrights’s most well-known designs, the Fallingwater house. We can see that majority of the environment around the building remains untouched and that the building looks like part of the land.

Figure 4: (Wright’s historic Fallingwater house, 2014)
Frank Believed that Architects must have the ability to see at least ten years ahead of their designs in order to maintain a design’s sustainability in the long term. These early philosophies on sustainability are one of the reasons why the movement began (Tabb et al., 2017). With the continued growth of sustainable design, the importance is growing alongside the increasing population growth, and more and more urban green buildings are being made. These urban buildings often create their own microclimates with the use of vegetation and water collection systems. The Largest wooden hall that is situated in Yusuhara, Japan, was awarded The Energy Performance and Architecture award in 2007 for its use of local materials and its design to combat cold weather.
Greenwashing
Sustainable design
By law, companies and businesses are now required to be environmentally cautious in their operations. Companies such as manufacturers have to follow a limit of greenhouse emissions for the size building it is. Failing to do so will result in the business being punished with heavy fines. The issue that some businesses face is that being environmentally friendly can be costly, especially in third-world countries. With these requirements becoming mandatory, some companies tend to make ways to work around them without actually applying these practices to their operation. A method of this workaround is called “greenwashing”. Green washing is when a company falsely advertises their product to be environmentally friendly by using different techniques like using green colours for their products or claiming the material is environmentally friendly (Delmas, M. A., & Burbano, V. C. 2011). This misleads the consumers into purchasing the product and thinking highly of the brand (Furlow, 2010). The term greenwashing came about two decades ago but only has seen a large spike in recent years. Between the years of 2006 and 2009, the term greenwashing grew by 300% (Lyon & Montgomery, 2015). This then leads the users to mistrust future sustainable or environmentally friendly projects, making the process even more difficult for both the user and the creator.
Greenwashing comes in many forms, one of them being “selective disclosure” which is when the business chooses only what the public wants to hear and stay away from disclosing that they are not environmentally friendly. Also, the company also does not disclose whether they are going to be fully environmentally friendly. Another form of greenwashing is “empty green claims and policies”. This is when the company does not live up to the environmental standards that they have promised to live up to. Dubious Certifications and labels may look too suspicious to people due to the high amount of certifications of legitimacy. This naturally chases away the consumers. Co-opted NGO Endorsements are partnerships is when two or more partners are aid each other in greenwashing activities in order for both parties to gain. Ineffective Public Voluntary programmes is when a company participates in programs that are beneficial for the environment, but only participate in those programmes, making the public think the business is environmentally friendly mean while their operations says otherwise. Misleading and Narrative Discourse use discourse to analyse strategies applied at discursive levels to influence the public. Misleading Visual Imagery is when the business makes use of the colours green or biodiversity symbols (Lyon et al., 2014)
The companies benefit from green washing due to the higher attraction of consumers and as well as not having to pay extra to legitimately be environmentally friendly and as well as avoid receiving penalties. Green washing is not only through business product and advertising but also through their manufacturing or on site practices. For example a construction company can claim they make minimal waste and re-use remaining material from projects. There are also other predicaments when desiring a sustainable design. The cost of being sustainable is often an initial premium price making it tight on the project budget. The period between the development and the sustainable results/benefits may be prolonged. Many designers and developers are still tend to maintain the current techniques and practices, which makes adaptation more difficult and time consuming. This also means that there is less knowledge as well as skills from the developers to construct the building. This could potentially bring extra costs to projects due to eras made or extended time to implement the sustainable features (Ahn, 2013).
There are already methods in place to help reduce greenwashing amongst businesses these methods are called “Ecolabeling” which is making use of environmental certification that is done by an outside party whom all companies and consumers can trust. This method can be seen in many other industries whom require authenticity in their field. Not only third parties are involved in the authentication of the environmentally friendly authenticity, the Government is also involved in authenticating these businesses but as well as setting penalties for those who green wash. This is to try deterring other businesses from greenwashing. As of now, there is minimal research on the effect that greenwashing has on social welfare at an individual level of the consumer.

In conclusion, modern sustainability design follows a set of concepts, although only has it been around for only around 30 years but the principles have been around for centuries, both small and large scale. Sustainability Design is still vague to many and is often open to interpretation. This however leads to corporations, land owners, contractors etc… to greenwash the site in order to gain from the publicity that environmentally friendly brings. The high costs of creating a sustainable building often deters people away or minimise their effort into creating a fully sustainable building. Third world countries are also behind on these methods, so it makes it more difficult for them to adapt and afford a highly sustainable building. The time frame of the sustainable turn over could also take a longer period of time to achieve its sustainability, which often question people if it is worth it in the short run. However, the publicity of having a legitimate, well sustainably design building will attract great benefits for the designers, builders and the building owner. This will also influence other competitors to also incorporate these methods in order to try out perform other competitors.

2023.03.22 07:31 Elliotem If you can type me you get a cookie

How old are you? What's your gender? Give us a general description of yourself.
I am 18. Biologically female.
I am definitely more on the quiet side. Definitely have some teenage angst.
--------
Describe your upbringing.
I dont think I was parented too much and I had to teach myself a lot of basic skills (thank god for youtube) But I was raised by a single mother with 3 kids who had to work constantly to keep food on the table, so it's understandable.
Overall my upbringing with chaotic and messy.. but I wouldn't change it. I think everything has shaped me into who I am today and Im okay with it.
--------
What do you do as a job or as a career?
I dont yet have a career.. Currently applying to entry level jobs.
Hoping to get a job one day that earns me enough money to not stress about bills. I will say task initiation is a big struggle for me.
If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel?
Absolutely refreshed. People stress me out, I try to avoid interacting with them. Though being near other humans, preferably in the corner of the room, is enjoyable.
--------
What kinds of activities do you prefer?
My top hobby is art. I also do rubiks cube, puzzles, shopping, cooking, sudoko, sleeping..
But a lot of my time is taken up researching my interests, it refreshes me the most. I like neuroscience, MBTI, torture mechanisms, beetlejuice (mainly musical), math, and whatever educational videos happen to pop up on my youtube feed
--------
How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute?
Im usually curious.
I dont know if I have many ideas.. but I definitely think about things more than I do them.
I am very curious into human nature, but I also enjoy learning about how the world works (it irks me how little we know, I am constantly finding dead ends)
Currently I am just starting to get into computers.
I absolutely cant stand learning about history, bores me to death.
--------
Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be?
No, But I think I would be good at it. I would try to be clear with my words and efficient in my actions. I would give everyone a task to do. If someone repeatedly cannot hold up their task, they would have a one on one with me so I cant help them through it. If they show carelessness, they're out. throw them overboard
Maybe a bit like a dictatorship..? uhh
idk I guess maybe people can have vote, but I have final say.
On a larger scale like the president, I would not choose to be leader
but 10-50 people I can manage
--------
Are you coordinated? Do you enjoy working with your hands in some form?
Nope, constantly falling on shit.
I enjoy working with my hands. (art, rubiks cube) I have great development in fine motor skills.
--------
Are you artistic?
Ive spent a whole lotta time on anatomy, perspective, values ect. So that I can mess it all up and play around
I enjoy drawing extreme faces and messy creatures.
but I can get very technical with my art. An art deco feel.
I loooove mandalas.
--------
What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them?
My opinions..?
Past.. I have poor recollection of the past.
Present.. I tend to miss things in my environment and constantly have my girlfriend fill me in (shes an ISTJ hehe)
Future.. I think about a lot, but I dont plan
for much
--------
How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)?
I like helping people sometimes. I like teaching people more than I do just doing stuff for them. I want them to be able to do it on their own.
--------
Do you need logical consistency in your life?
Yes..? I dont know what this means exactly. I like things to make sense. confusion bothers me a lot.
--------
How important is efficiency to you?
I like efficiency, as in the quickest way to get somewhere while maintaining quality. This is mostly driven from laziness
--------
Do you control others, even if indirectly?
Some people have said I do. I disagree.. I think its more me trying to place how I think onto them when they aren't making a lick of sense
maybe that is controlling now that I think about it
--------
What is your learning style? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses?
I like creating a system of notes. I recently got into note taking inspired by Zettelkasten. I struggle learning in noisy environments. I need something preoccupy my brain like food or fidget's. I like all things mentioned, creativity not so much.
I like when information is given to me in a straightforward way, with examples. I can add interpretations later but I need the raw base foundation of information first.
--------
How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks?
I can do it.. doesnt mean I do. I procrastinate until the last minute most times. Im not sure why.
--------
What are your aspirations in life, professionally and personally?
I dont know ? Every time I start to go down a path, I back out and dig a new one. Im hoping this doesn't last outside my teenage years, its like a constant rediscovery of myself and I hate it.
--------
What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?
Im afraid of dying a painful death. Im afraid of being casted out by others. I am afraid of living on the streets and loosing hope for life.
Maybe also.. being close to people. Eh
I dont know what I hate ? in a general sense I have no idea
--------
What do the "highs" in your life look like?
I don't know, preferably I found routines that work for me and can set and work on goals
--------
What do the "lows" in your life look like?
very emotional, desperate and lonely. But Ive always had a roof over my head and (for the most part) food on the table.
--------
How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often?
I dont think I daydream but I live in my head a lot. Like I said, I have little attention to the world around me, I can easily miss something that everyone else sees.
--------
Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about?
Why the hell I am in the room and who the hell put me there
after a long while.. probably about my friends and family and if they're safe from this mysterious person
after a LOOONG while
probably if I am dead. is this the afterlife? is this all there is? does this confirm or deny a god?
--------
How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it?
Long time
Im a terrible decision maker
I can change my mind with new information, but If I've already put it in my note system its pretty much final.
--------
How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?
Not long. Ive gotten decently good with my emotional maturity.
Emotions arent something I try to pay attention too, but they are something that adds value to life.
--------
Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going?
Sometimes. I hate it. Recently Ive been trying to stop people pleasing so much but now I come off as aggressive
--------
Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better?
Finally last question. Props to anyone to actual read this whole thing, and thank you.
I dont break rules unless they are silly. I don't really try to challenge authority, I think they're important to keep things running.
--------
I think I am (in order from most to least sure):
ISTP
ISFP
INTP
INFP
All I know for sure is Im definitely an IxxP

2023.03.22 07:07 Imworriedsickhelp There has to be something we can do to fundamentally change society to where workers have more rights!

There's never any mention in government for voting on mandatory vacation pay, mandatory parental paid leave that is long enough and enough is paid to where both parents can stay home with their child for longer than a damn week, mandatory healthcare coverage paid by employers, employers no longer being able to just fire you for no damn reason because of the stupid at will policies, better yet just healthcare for all period... Putting term limits on the supreme court justices and us being able to do something about homelessness like mandatory basic housing, mental health services, etc etc. The USA is a dystopian capitalist hellscape and it's only getting worse. You have boomers mainly and the religious right/conservatives who want to keep us where we are and make things even worse, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Marshall Islands should either be made full states with all state benefits, or they should get their damn freedom back. Same with Hawaii in the sense of if they don't want to be part of the USA, since they were taken theough imperialism they should have the right to leave the union if they want.
It's insane to me that our citizens are clearly miserable as fuck.... I mean we have skyrocketing high depression rates, everyone's on pharmaceuticals, psych meds or on booze/illegal drugs. Instead of having a sliding scale based on income fine system, we don't so that way the rich pay off fines and see it as an extra tax and the poor go to prison. Now they're making prisoners make shit for companies and there's quotas to lock up as many people as possible. I mean for fuck sakes, we have to as a society be able to push back somehow. Protests are useless. The right and left can't work together at all nor should they. I really do think the only solution is to split the country in 2. Send the conservatives to go lives in conservative land where it's like the south and moderates/more left leaning people who actually care about the working class should have our own country. The powers that be would never allow it ofc. When the core is rotten the rest is all tainted and that's pretty much the USA's problem. The whole government is rotten and pro corporation and until things seriously change I think we are screwed.
We need to create some sort of massive movement that really catches on and gets people mobilized and we tell the government enough is enough. Corporations and business owners have sucked away our will to live, our individuality, our happiness, etc and we want to run the show. We don't even need managers and bosses. We know how to do the work, maybe keep on managers, the workers can elect on who stays and who goes, they can vote on major company matters and they can vote on wages based on how difficult your job is. As workers we should reap the rewards of our labor. Not some asshole boss or ceo who takes 99% of the cake and gives us crumbs the fight over. The right and conservatives can go live in Gilead and the rest of us can create a better, just and humane society.
I really think it's our only hope at a happy existence.

Benefits of Hiring A Creative Agency Over an In-House Team
In today’s business environment, companies need to create compelling, creative marketing campaigns and content to remain competitive. Many companies are tasked with the challenge of deciding whether it is more cost-effective to hire an in-house team or a creative agency to handle their creative needs. While both options have their benefits and drawbacks, there are many advantages that come with hiring a creative agency over an in-house team. These advantages include access to specialized talent and expertise, faster turnaround times, scalability, the ability to bring fresh perspectives, and cost savings.

Access to Specialized Talent and Expertise
When you hire a creative agency, you gain access to specialized talent and expertise that you may not be able to find in an in-house team. A creative agency will have experts in different areas of the creative process such as graphic design, copywriting, web design, video production and more. This means that they are able to take on complex projects that may require multiple disciplines. Furthermore, they often have access to exclusive technology that would otherwise be too costly for an in-house team. By having access to these resources and skillsets, a creative agency can ensure your project is completed on time and within budget.
Faster Turnaround Times Creative agencies are typically staffed by experienced professionals who specialize in various disciplines within the creative process. This allows them to work quickly without compromising quality. Furthermore, because they are used to working on multiple projects at once with tight deadlines, they understand how important it is for the project to be completed on time. An experienced agency will be better equipped than your in-house team at working under pressure while producing high quality results quickly.
Scalability One of the biggest advantages of hiring a creative agency is its scalability compared with an in-house team. When you partner with a creative agency you get access to resources that can scale up or down depending on your needs. If your project requires a larger team than what you currently have available internally then working with an agency gives you the flexibility needed without needing additional overhead costs like salaries or benefits associated with full-time employees. This allows companies large or small the ability work on projects without worrying about resource constraints since they can easily adjust their level of service depending on the scope of their project needs.
Bringing Fresh Perspectives Working with a creative agency also gives companies the advantage of having fresh perspectives from outside sources when tackling challenging projects or getting stuck in ruts creatively speaking . Your internal teams become familiar over time which can lead them into developing tunnel vision when it comes problem solving or brainstorming new ideas for campaigns or strategies . An outside perspective from knowledgeable professionals can help give teams insight into opportunities or solutions they may not have considered before.
Cost Savings When it comes down to costs , hiring a creative agency over building an in-house team can result in significant savings for businesses . Since agencies employ professionals who specialize in certain disciplines , you don't need pay exorbitant salaries for fulltime employees which allows you avoid additional overhead costs associated with wages , benefits , office space , etc . Additionally , when working on short term projects rather than long term ones there is no need worry about training costs either as an experienced partner will already know how do exactly what is needed . In some cases , businesses may even be able receive discounts from agencies due long term contracts which can enable greater cost savings over time.
conclusion
There are numerous advantages associated with choosing hire a creative agency over an internal team . With access specialized talent and expertise , faster turnaround times , scalability cost savings bringing fresh perspectives - all these factors make partnering up with right partner worthwhile investment - one that could potentially help company reach its goals sooner than expected while also saving money each step way.

2023.03.22 06:47 LordFlatFoot Do I have to pay taxes again in illinois?

I live in illinois and looking to buy a car in California and drive it back on a road trip. Apparently in California if I'm behind the wheel and the car just hits the payment out the lot I'm responsible for paying their tax. Although I have to pay taxes again in illinois, right? When I go get the title and plates in Illinois? I know some states make vou pay again, some the difference and some just once wherever you paid I've been trying to find the answer for if I have to pay again when I come down to illinois?
Does anyone know? Thanks!

2023.03.22 04:58 hi_its_lizzy616 Romance styles according to gender by Viktor Gulenko

https://wikisocion.github.io/content/romance_styles.html
“Aggressive” man (SEE, ESI, LSI, SLE) - This sociotype has an inclination to forceful possession of a woman. In love games loves to demonstrate a struggle. Can allow himself rudeness, sometimes causes women pain - both physical and moral. Expects a woman to yield to force.
“Aggressive” woman (SEE, ESI, LSI, SLE) - Often tries to compete with men, including in erotic relations. Inclined to irony, ridicule, making jokes at the opposite sex. Likes to feel herself more competent than a man in any endeavor. During lovemaking she expects from a man deferential treatment, demonstrative weakness, emotional instability. “Aggressive” woman searches for an object for her assertive and eager erotic actions. She is best matched by a man who behaves obediently but capriciously with her. Then she obtains pretext for aggression. “Victim” man idealizes such a woman, and at the same time he somewhat fears her. His behavior can be compared with the behavior of a page who is entirely devoted to the service of “beautiful lady”. On-going game - is the best cure for satiation. In relations with “Childlike” man, “Aggressive” woman will feel a lack of playful submission on his part. His unwillingness to adapt to her aggressive attacks cannot not put such a union on the brink of a break-up. Relations with similar to her “Aggressor” man on one hand flatter and ignite her passion, but on the other hand repel, as they don’t lead to the desired victory. Therefore, they may have only mixed success. “Caring” man unnerves her with his treatment of her as if she is a small child, which she perceives as humiliating.
“Victim” man (ILI, LIE, EIE, IEI) - Idealizes a commanding woman. Adapts to her tastes, respects volitional qualities in her. In his behavior at times he emphasizes dependence and obedience, and other times comes out of control. In relationship with a woman he subconsciously awaits orders, catches, reprimands. Not receiving these kinds of reactions, he involuntarily provokes their manifestation.
“Victim” woman (ILI, LIE, EIE, IEI) - The ideal of this woman is a physically strong man, reminiscent of lead roles in action movies. She wishes to experience his force on herself, to resist his pressure, to feel herself a victim. In love games, she prefers different forms of opposition and confrontation, that fuel the passions of her partner. Women of this type sometimes have inherent masochistic traits, though not all of them consciously acknowledge it. “Victim” woman cleverly plays on her weakness, vulnerability, or disorganization, thus provoking “Aggressive” man to undertake prompt decisive actions. In love games, the greatest value for her are strong embraces and feeling the power of the male body, yielding to which she shows her submission to his will. “Caring” men seem comfortable to her, but too dull partners, while “Childlike” men in her heart she views as not sufficiently strong and resolute. With similar to her “Victim” men this woman enters into complex, full of subtext relations, competing with them in sacrificial attitudes and demanding for it special privileges. Frequently such games literally wear out and exhaust both of them. At this point, I consider it necessary to mention that these psychoanalytic groups are not being considered in all detail, so some more subtle differences within them disappear. In particular, among “Victim” types the fact remains unnoticed that they can further be divided into the “tragic victims” (IEI and EIE) and “comic victims” (ILI and LIE).
“Caring” man (LSE, SLI, SEI, ESE). Experienced, attentive to the inner world of a woman partner, who can positively predispose towards himself with protective courtship. In love games he very much appreciates feminine tenderness and vulnerability, and waits admiration of his life experiences and skills.
“Caring” woman (LSE, SLI, SEI, ESE) - Inclined to care for her male partner. She is attracted to weak but intelligent men who accept her lead in daily activities. She likes to support, to protect, to cheer them up. These character traits that in the public opinion don’t evoke respect for men, this woman forgives or finds them perfectly acceptable. “Caring” woman is rejecting of intense, but rough caresses. Erotic games that are deprived of foreplay and based on force oppress her sexuality, thus relations with strong forceful men are often disappointing to her. The behavior of compatible man must be “child-like” i.e. reluctant, waiting-enticing. This woman loves caresses that are expressed as gentle, subtle touches of her erogenous zones. Relationship with a “Victim” man is not satisfactory to her either, because his caprices, tricks, and provocations of force from her surprise and repel her. Relations with similar to her “Caring” man after some time start to disappoint her, although she doesn’t have much against such a relationship. Sooner or later, she feels a lack of spiritual connection in them.
“Childlike” man (ILE, LII, EII, IEE). Dependent, naive in worldly affairs, awaits from a woman practical and sincere support. Inadvertently emphasizes how he was passed by with attention and gone unnoticed, any of the wasted abilities and talents, and difficulties with adapting to life’s struggles. In women he values experience and responsiveness to his problems.
“Childlike” woman (ILE, LII, EII, IEE). The ideal of this woman is a kind, experienced, well-adapted to life man, who is usually older than her in age. In the presence of such a man she feels herself alike a girl, who is dependent on him almost in everything. In love games she prefers psychological factors - sincere conversation, predisposing music, creation of conditions for relaxation. Above all, she values leniency and support, attention to her problems, and care. “Childlike” woman. In erotic life, women of this type place much significance on sophisticated tenderness and psychology of relations. She, without any special for it intentions, demonstrates by her own actions her fragility and child-like naivete. This woman easily takes up interests and activities of a partner towards whom she is sympathetic. In love games, “Childlike” woman easily picks up the initiative of “Caring” man, demonstrating her own sophistication and imagination. She does pay attention to “Aggressive” men, of course, but she fears becoming close with them due to their instinctive behavior and their roughness. “Victim” men satisfy her only in part: they start off romantically, but then puzzle and confuse her by demonstrations of their suffering and their unpredictability. With similar to her “Childlike” men this woman will feel discomfort due to lack of attention and care for her needs. In such a couple the degree of alienation will slowly increase over time.
