I need help from people who turn wrenches. Please, if you don’t work on your own bike just move along.
I took the liberty of rebuilding a 1996 BMW K1100RS and I’m having some clutch disc troubles.
Bike is off the road right now because I shredded the clutch disc splines along with the transmission input shaft splines, for the second time in 2000 miles.
Shaft drive, dry clutch. I broke the 1-2 shift fork last year and had trouble removing the swing arm’s aluminum pivots from the gear box and destroyed the gearbox housing in the process.
To avoid rebuilding a questionable gear box I purchased a used one off eBay, threw new seals in, painted the housing, and mounted it up.
Everything was fine for like 1200 miles. But I noticed I had to constantly adjust the clutch. Figured it was seating in and would stop but the failure followed shortly after.
I actually got stuck in the mountains in LA because of it. Had a perfect ride, didn’t feel any vibrations or anything. I was behind a slow truck, went to go around them, and the shaft stripped right then and there. Was stuck in the mountains for 9 hours, really ruined the day lol.
I used all the correct tools and torque specs, including guide dowel pins, except for one step. There’s a specific tightening pattern for the clutch hub nut that I wasn’t aware of.
I was supposed to tighten to 150nM, loosen all the way, then retighten to 100nM. I just did the first step. Behind the hub nut is a self centering bushing.
I noticed I could pull the engine output shaft back and forth a bit, not sure if that is bad I can’t find any info online. I didn’t notice any obvious runout with my eyeballs but I’m aware humans can’t measure with eyeballs.
Anyway, I pulled the whole bike apart again and re did the work, still without knowledge of that step. I replaced the clutch disc and the transmission input shaft when I did it. While the gear box was open I took the liberty of checking the bearings for runout and didn’t see anything out of spec. Shifted through the gears before I closed it up. Haynes manual open the whole time, 10 hours of hard work, you know the deal.
That was 5 months ago, and it stripped again last week. I can’t figure out exactly why. Same thing with the clutch needing constant adjustment before it failed, but this time I was adjusting at the clutch side instead of the handlebars. Same failure.
Both times I could hear some metallic vibrating before the failure, but couldn’t feel anything. Only while holding in the clutch and sitting still.
I can only assume it was the transmission shaft with too much play inside the clutch hub, right before it stripped for good. Almost sounded like loose roller pins on floating brake rotors.
These were both organic clutch discs, I paid around $100 each.
Could the hub splines on them just be trash? Axial misalignment? Not enough lube on the splines? I used a pretty good amount of Kluber Starburaugs
Should I not be holding the clutch in at long lights? I know it’s good practice but I’m not out here afraid of my shadow or anything…like I’m cool to put it in neutral if it means less wear on components.
I’m not sure if my riding style has something to do with it. I keep the revs decently high because the bike doesn’t like to get lugged, but I’m worried I might be too aggressive in general while riding it.
Sometimes I red line first gear into second, but I have a habit of putting a finger behind the clutch lever. Could I be dragging the clutch and not realizing?
The engines runs great, it almost seems like I can overpower the drivetrain components very easily by way of downshifting, or hard take offs.

The bike looks amazing but maybe it’s a showpiece thing more than a performance thing. But I’m confused because people race them, with turbos and fuel controllers, how am I stressing it out?
I love the bike but can’t keep spinning these shafts and burning through clutch discs obviously.
I ordered a sintered 4 paddle race clutch disc along with a good used shaft, new centering spacer, new hub nut, and some other smalls, so I’m going to give it another go. Hoping third time is the charm.
Wanted to send this out into the world and see if anyone has heard of this before.
I’m going to check the runout on the main output shaft bearing, clutch hub, and ensure the pressure plate mounting points are dead flat, if not a new housing will get ordered.
This was a complete frame off, nut and bolt restoration and modification. I don’t know how to post photos here but it gets a lot of looks, and runs amazingly.
It’s purpose built for the Los Angeles landscape, I’m not too shy driving it to say the least.
Bike is a blast to ride but maybe I’m getting too excited? Do I really have to drive like a grandpa on this? am I being too rough?

I took the liberty of rebuilding a 1996 BMW K1100RS and I’m having some clutch disc troubles.
Bike is off the road right now because I shredded the clutch disc splines along with the transmission input shaft splines, for the second time in 2000 miles.
Shaft drive, dry clutch. I broke the 1-2 shift fork last year and had trouble removing the swing arm’s aluminum pivots from the gear box and destroyed the gearbox housing in the process.
To avoid rebuilding a questionable gear box I purchased a used one off eBay, threw new seals in, painted the housing, and mounted it up.
Everything was fine for like 1200 miles. But I noticed I had to constantly adjust the clutch. Figured it was seating in and would stop but the failure followed shortly after.
I actually got stuck in the mountains in LA because of it. Had a perfect ride, didn’t feel any vibrations or anything. I was behind a slow truck, went to go around them, and the shaft stripped right then and there. Was stuck in the mountains for 9 hours, really ruined the day lol.
I used all the correct tools and torque specs, including guide dowel pins, except for one step. There’s a specific tightening pattern for the clutch hub nut that I wasn’t aware of.
I was supposed to tighten to 150nM, loosen all the way, then retighten to 100nM. I just did the first step. Behind the hub nut is a self centering bushing.
I noticed I could pull the engine output shaft back and forth a bit, not sure if that is bad I can’t find any info online. I didn’t notice any obvious runout with my eyeballs but I’m aware humans can’t measure with eyeballs.
Anyway, I pulled the whole bike apart again and re did the work, still without knowledge of that step. I replaced the clutch disc and the transmission input shaft when I did it. While the gear box was open I took the liberty of checking the bearings for runout and didn’t see anything out of spec. Shifted through the gears before I closed it up. Haynes manual open the whole time, 10 hours of hard work, you know the deal.
That was 5 months ago, and it stripped again last week. I can’t figure out exactly why. Same thing with the clutch needing constant adjustment before it failed, but this time I was adjusting at the clutch side instead of the handlebars. Same failure.
Both times I could hear some metallic vibrating before the failure, but couldn’t feel anything. Only while holding in the clutch and sitting still.
I can only assume it was the transmission shaft with too much play inside the clutch hub, right before it stripped for good. Almost sounded like loose roller pins on floating brake rotors.
These were both organic clutch discs, I paid around $100 each.
Could the hub splines on them just be trash? Axial misalignment? Not enough lube on the splines? I used a pretty good amount of Kluber Starburaugs
Should I not be holding the clutch in at long lights? I know it’s good practice but I’m not out here afraid of my shadow or anything…like I’m cool to put it in neutral if it means less wear on components.
I’m not sure if my riding style has something to do with it. I keep the revs decently high because the bike doesn’t like to get lugged, but I’m worried I might be too aggressive in general while riding it.
Sometimes I red line first gear into second, but I have a habit of putting a finger behind the clutch lever. Could I be dragging the clutch and not realizing?
The engines runs great, it almost seems like I can overpower the drivetrain components very easily by way of downshifting, or hard take offs.

Hey fellow KLR'rs, I have a question about this little guy. When using this instead of the OEM nut do I need to keep the bendy washer or omit it completely? All the description says is "tired of bending that washer." That could mean keep it and don't bend it or. . . Get rid of it all together. I put it back in place for fear that it was needed to take up room but then started wondering if I need it at all anymore. Thoughts? Comments? Questions?

For many communities, Easter in Ukraine is basically a Christmas-level amount of socializing, parties, relaxation, and presents. We will dedicate several posts to these traditions later this week, but to give you time to possibly bake one yourself, we will begin today with an iconic element of the holiday: Easter bread. This confection is a round, impressive bread that often has bits of fruit and sometimes even icing. Its crumb is very rich but also light, it's definitely bread but it's a little like cake. It's sweet, but not intensely so. I can assure you from experience that it's a fun and tasty treat, no matter what your traditions are or what beliefs you hold! People make versions that have that old school charm, but it's also very common to experiment. If you are tired of cooking - or if you just want to have many breads - you can find them at most stores around holiday time. Modern Easter Bread in Kyiv: (Top Left) By restaurant \"Zigzag\", with pink icing and dried fruits and nuts (Top Right) By Ievgen Klopotenko's restaurant \"100 Years Ago in the Future\", lava cake style with dried cranberries infused with cognac, topped with meringue and wheat ears. In some regions of the country, for instance, Paska and Babka are completely interchangeable terms and the differences I’ve highlighted below aren’t applicable. But in others, the words refer to different forms (tall and thin vs. short and wide) and recipes (how rich, how sweet). As you can see, the tapestry of our cultural dialogue is as rich as the holiday bread :) Our friend food anthropologist Pani Stefa defines the distinction, at least for Western Ukraine. According to her academic research, there have always been two different traditional types of Easter bread - Paska and Babka (more traditionally referred to its older name, Baba). I’m a PhD student and I use citation manager apps while using word/PowerPoint / and SPSS for stats simultaneously. Often with way too many browser tabs open. My pro would prompt me to force quit at times. I’ve been lugging the pro around just find so not really enticed by the weight difference. Screen size would be the same cuz I have the 13”(too small). What do I do?!? Buy new or fix my beloved laptop?!appreciate the wisdom of others. Obviously electronics are not my strength

so the title is pretty self explanatory (toyota sienna 1st gen, 2001). i was doing the rear shock absorbers and the mounting bolt sheared off when i was torquing it to spec. fyi, top nut on the shock is 22 ft-lbs and the mounting bolt is 83 ft-lbs. the bolt head sheared off, i was lucky, the bolt head was jagged and the remaining piece was loose so i was able to spin it out with no effort. the reason for the post is no one was able to give me bolt specs. so here they are for everyone else in my situation.
the bolt is either a 3/8-24 or m10 x 1.25. either will work. now select the proper grade of bolt to take the 83ft-lbs which is 112-113nm. for metric you want a 12.9 as it can handle 84ft-lbs. as for sae, unfortunately i am only seeing 58ft-lbs on a grade 9 bolt
conclusion. in a bind, use a grade 8-9 bolt and replace with either a metric 12.9 m10-1.25 x 20 or with oem pn# 90119A0018.

First off I'm a mod on TyneeBoard_Official mainly because the old sub kinda died in the ass and couldn't be revived so when the new one started I wanted to be a redundancy so there was an active place on reddit for people like me with Tynee boards to go to get answers or share stuff with each other.
I'm completely independent otherwise, and owe a lot to the ElectricSkateboarding because I lived through you people for a year while I researched what board and safety gear to buy :)
Also sorry for any formatting issues, things went a bit sideways from the word doc to here.
With that out of the way here's my thoughts on the Tynee Hydro wheels:
Introduction:
Now for the detailed section.
Design and Build Quality:
The design is nice and simple, though the tread pattern seems a bit odd that it’s not pointing the same way, though I believe there are other manufacturers that do this too (though not many). The wheels feel good in the hands and there’s nothing that feels compromising. The pulleys and belt all fit well and without much effort, that is if you use the correct belts unlike me in the beginning because I was too excited and got my belts mixed up. The fit and finish was great and there was no rubbing or scraping or any issues with fit at all.
Performance:
Garage floor (known for being hard to brake on) – Normally with PU wheels if I was going along at 20kph and got on the brakes here I’d almost end up in the garage door (only did once), but with the Hydro wheels I was able to brake more consistently without sliding but the overall braking was slower. I count this as a win because there is now predictability I didn’t really have before.
Road surface – Braking on the road felt much stronger but also weaker for some reason. When the brakes were applied hard at the start while at speed, the board slowed down considerably but felt like it took a little longer to come to a complete stop. This could however have been to the fact that the battery was around 30%. I tested this again during the range test today and it seems the harder braking at higher speeds compared to almost stopped speed is more pronounced.
Rough road surface (vibrations) – Road vibration (from shared paths that are like rough roads that haven’t been surfaced right) has definitely decreased but it feels like it’s only down by 10-20% or so. Going over corrugations in the footpath or shared paths feels a lot more comfortable and less impactful than the stock 90mm PU wheels. There was also a section of path that had a lot of little tree seeds/nuts/crap and what I can only seem to describe as “road acne” which the Hydro wheels did pretty well with and behaved a fair bit more predictably.
Gravel/light dirt surface – Going over gravel and loose dirt surfaces feel about 30% better and the braking on here has improved considerably from the 90mm PU wheels. The ride also feels like it’s a bit more predictable and requires less correction.
Grass – Riding on grass with the Hydro wheels was like night and day compared to the PU wheels. The PU wheels would be super bumpy no matter how level the grass and soil surface was and if it hit a bump that was too high it would likely get bogged immediately after. The Hydro wheels just let me go and go and go and gave me a lot of traction.
Debris I’d normally avoid – When I tried the Hydro wheels over some patches of road that were a little broken up and went over some sticks that were maybe 30mm in diameter the board still stayed pretty stable and didn’t jerk me around or give me any harsh bumps. I also did something that I though was a bit stupid (because why not) and in speed mode 1 set cruise control at full throttle going about at ~16kph. I then went off the paved path onto the grass/bushy area to the side, which only dropped the board speed down to about 12kph and I thought that was fair to be honest. Regardless the board still was able to continue comfortably albeit at a slower pace. Again on the way home I cut across a patch of wood chips (don’t do this) to get onto another path, which at the slow speed almost sent me off but from the drop in speed, where once I got my balance back the board kept plodding along till I could get back onto the path. This has basically been an experience of that expression where you bite together and suck air through your teeth and make that oh no face, but then are pleasantly surprised.
Acceleration (Speed mode 4) – This would be best done after the low-speed range test. So before I started the low-speed range test I accelerated all the way down my street because I’m a weak man and had a rough day at work. The acceleration was easier to brace for compared to the 90mm PU wheels by like 30% I’d say, and after around 130m I peaked at 40kph by the remote. It’s nice to know I can go at that speed and have the board still be fairly stable but still let me know I better watch my manners, though I don’t see myself going that speed much in the future, I’m perfectly happy with 30kph to be honest, though more torque in the future I can see being alluring.
Ride comfort (vs 90mm) – Overall my initial impression of the ride comfort is that it’s about a 20% improvement over the PU wheels, assuming you have a flexible deck like I do. The segmentation's in the concrete paths definitely feel a little better and the general vibration is down from what it used to be but nothing earth shattering.
Cornering – The board can carry much more speed through corners and turns now, to the point where one turn I usually need to lean back a decent amount to get through, I ended up running off the board because I didn’t need to lean that much at all at that speed anymore. There is much more grip and the limit of grip seems like it will take a bit to find in the dry. I’m not sure how to describe this but it also feels like when I try to turn, there is more linearity to the action, like the motion of turning is more efficient compared to the PU wheels.
Braking from 20kph – For this I had to be in Speed mode 2 and I think I was a little bit over but from memory I managed to stop pretty quickly on a slight decline over the span of 2-3 car park spaces which should be around 4-6 meters. The braking felt decent through the last bit to get to a complete stop seemed a little weak, but I suppose at that point you just step off anyway.
Feedback from wheels while normal riding – Hard to say but the feedback seems to be about the same or very close to the PU wheels, though I’d need to take this to the limit of its grip to say for sure, but in terms of normal riding around there’s not much to notice, which could be in part related to an increase in comfort.
Durability:
After first use – No signs of unreasonable wear (I should hope not), though the white core of the wheels is a little dirty. I also have not seen any strange wear and tear on the wheels from rubbing or scraping or anything like that, and after running over some metal object on the road there seems to be no marks or damage on the wheels either.
After the second day of my range test, I noticed a strange sound coming from one of the wheels and the belt was not sitting right. When I get home I noticed my motor mounts also seemed to have a bit of movement in them, so I took the wheels off and did a bit of maintenance. The sound and belt were due to a small wood chip/seed in the pulley, which I promptly removed and the issue was gone. Mounts were also tightened but I need to buy some Loctite.
Value:
With current exchange rates wheels are $178.90AUD, which seems like a lot but cloud wheels would cost roughly $224UAD (not including shipping for either), and Momentum hollow wheels are around $246-266UAD off Amazon currently. So, at best a $40-60AUD difference on base price without factoring in shipping (because shipping to Aus makes me sad).
Shipping will vary based on your location and method but for me was like $80AUD for air freight, and arrived in around 10 days.
There is also a pop up on the Tynee website that offers you $20USD off, so that’s something at least.
Given the performance to cost in my personal situation, I would rather go with something like the Tynee off road kit as it’s pneumatic which I believe would give me much better comfort and, though the trade-off would be the big hit to range, and having to deal with things like punctures and wheel balancing, so this will come down to what your use case is. If you want a little improvement in comfort but much more grip and increased performance and reliability in the wet compared to 90mm PU wheels or possibly cloud wheels (never had them before) then this would be a good choice in my opinion. Though from other things I've seen on here I might try the Hollow wheels at some stage, maybe the extra 60AUD would give much greater comfort.
Though now as I’m a little over half way through my range test (Speed mode 1 only so I can compare with my PU wheels range test in the best case) and I’m thinking maybe these were actually a good choice for me. I do like to ride and these are currently at 19.8km done and I’m actually thinking I’ll get the marketed range with the estimate from Tynee of 10% less range.
Other Thoughts:
Lifespan – With PU wheels they seem to be able to wear down pretty damn far before they become unusable, though the Hydro Wheels are basically limited to the rubber layer and once that fails, you’re basically left with PU grooved wheels. The wheels and rubber designed for the wet makes me wonder how they will do in hotter weather and climates when the road can get rather hot, and if this will cause the wheels to wear faster (I guess I will have to wait till the end of the year to test that in the Aussie summer).

I was driving fine last night and then I got into my car this morning and realized it was very bumpy while I was driving. I knew something was wrong so I pulled over and realized two of my lug nuts on my rear driver’s side wheel were completely off of the stud and my rim and tire were falling off. Ended up having to get a new rim and replace the studs. I had that same wheel for over a year and never had a problem until today.
Normally I would think it’s just a fluke but I am having issues with a creepy guy I met on Bumble who shows up at my house unannounced and is causing problems in my life. Where I live I need a lot of proof for a protective order so I have yet to have one. Anyways is there a way that lug nuts can just come loose overnight or did someone manually take them off? My entire wheel could have fallen off and put me in the hospital I imagine. I just need to know if these lug nuts become loose after driving a lot.

Things I discovered:
- Got my sweet and salty level recalibrated. Boba tea is too sweet and fast food is way too salty now.
- Started to taste the vegetable soup sweetness without adding sugar and loved it.
- It took 2 months for me to adjust to eating less and eating cleaner, but near the end, I can eat a lot and still feel full while getting to calorie and protein goal. (110g/day)
- Went through the 2022 egg shortage without breaking the bank. There are alternative foods.
- I can’t feel hungry, but I can tell my body needs energy when I’m full.
- I also did resistance exercise and got stronger over the months.
- Taking pictures from the side looks good because I don’t have a stomach anymore.
- Discovered my love of airfryer, toaster oven.
- No more after meal sugar crash. I’m always alert. I also found ways to maintain blood circulation for my sedentary job.
- I notice my sugar crashes easier and next time I avoid such foods.
- Appreciate cushioned chairs more. Losing the fat cushion hurts sometime.
- Learned good postures, and I can lift heavier things without breaking a sweat or hurting my knees.
- I can eat more types of food, and I know which food is good for me and which can be eaten when I'm in a pinch.
First phase: lose 1lb/week.
- In the first two months, I tried to eat less to get to my TDEE. I struggled in July and August to get to 2200 cal/day. I also worked out 6-7 days a week. 5-10 minutes of cardio, then resistance.
- Then Aug - Nov is around 1800, then 1700. That's when I figured out frame to eat: beans, lentils, vegetables + chicken dark meat + cottage cheese. Then I can eat anything on top to get to these numbers. I had injuries on a trip, hurted my back and got a bad cold, and later, due to using a machine in the gym. So I only went 3-4 times.
- Nov: I went on a trip. Mostly ate at any grocery store that sell cooked vegetables. The employees are very nice and always give me more meat than on the menu, so having a food scale helped. No exercise because I was traveling, just walking a lot everyday (10k+ steps, moving a lot) and I lost more than 1 lb/week. I got down to 148lb.
- Dec: went to my family's and the abundance of food made me snack, so I went back to 149/150 lb.
- Jan-Mar: I thought I had a plateau, but I found out much later my TDEE fell to 1900/2000. So it took me 3 months to lose 10 lbs. About 1.5 weeks/lb. In March, I started eating 1600 cal/day so I lost 1lb/8-9 days. I went to the gym 6 days a week but it wore out my muscles so much so I reduced to 3 days/week. Diet: I had access to airfryer so I don't remove chicken skin anymore. US is having egg shortage, so I switched to milk + nuts + honey in the morning.
- End of March: No gym. The last week involved a lot of moving, lifting stuff and not sitting at my desk. So I lost 1.5 lb in that week.
- Just like the loseit wiki said: 70% effort is in eating less, 20% is movement. Gym and protein are to keep your muscles. I lost 1-2lb of muscles in the whole period. 15-16% body fat right now.
- Preset meal is important: less thinking. When you have to decide, you're playing with temptations. I wake up everyday knowing I can do: milk + nuts + honey for breakfast. Mixed beans/rice + veggies (30-40% volume) + 4 chicken drumstick for lunch and dinner. That's about 1300 cal. Easy. Then treat myself to get to 1700.
- Check your TDEE every 20 lb lost, because it'll fall.
- Being a survivalist is important (know where food is + not a picky eater + food prep skill): If I miss protein but too much cal, canned fish is the way. I ate too early? Eat some fruit/veggies to slow down digestion. Going on a trip: whole foods, publix, walmart, Winn-Dixie have ready-to-eat veggies + fresh meat. Snack on clementines in the car for fiber. A guy in /bodybuilding got creative with waffle maker to make cooked meals, but I never have to go to a place without a car.
- Go easy on the gym exercises. Injury hurts. The hamstring machine gave me sciatica pain???
- Make sure to meet your calorie, especially protein and fiber and don't fall into anorexia after the first 3 months. Eat unprocessed food and variety is the key.

After a short backlash, Geissele released an empty apology and dropped the price. But living up to their name, they still charge 50% more than other vendors for the same exact product. • Geissele mounts cost $325. A LaRue LT-204 costs $140, is also made out of 7075-T6, has seen combat for a much longer time, and offers an exceptional QD system which the Geissele lacks. • Geissele handguards are all in the vicinity of $300, most of them costing more. A BCM MCMR is south of $200, is also made from 6065 but has a thicker wall which yields a higher rigidity, is lighter because it is a slightly slimmer profile and doesn't use a giant block of metal on the bottom of the handguard, and it uses a superior mounting method as opposed to Geissele that uses an archaic 6 o'clock clamping method which puts stress on the gas tube channel. You can also get a 7075-T6 Wedgelock rail for less than $300 without waiting on a sale which will give you a much stronger handguard than either option. • Geissele Reaction Rod costs $99 and is notorious for damaging index pins and index pin channels and is outperformed by $20 split block from PlastiXrevolution. A Midwest Industries Upper Receiver Rod is also vastly superior to the Reaction Rod, can be had for less than the Reaction Rod, and even outperforms the Super Reaction Rod which runs for $175. Worst of all, Bill Geissele spouts flat out lies on his product page: The Reaction Rod is designed to be gripped in a bench vise so that the rod is either horizontal or vertical. The upper receiver is then slid onto the rod and the rod’s integral splines enter the barrel extension and secure the barrel extension from turning. This allows all the torque from barrel nut wrenches to go directly into the barrel extension. In contrast, receiver vise blocks transmit the turning force into the aluminum receiver, a good part of which passes through the small, easily distorted receiver index pin. • Their Super Gas Block MSRP's for $80, is made out of cast metal like their triggers, is notorious for leaking gas, and is outperformed by a $45 gas block from BCM which is made out of a solid piece of metal. • Their $170 sling doesn't do anything that a Blue Force sling won't do while also costing less than half the price. • The Super42 reduces recoil by increasing spring tension and the spring supposedly lasts longer. A Tubb's flatwire spring costs less than half as much, lasts just as long, also reduces recoil by increasing spring tension, has no resonance unlike the Super42, and is much quieter. • The REBCG is a standard bolt carrier group with a DLC coating on it that's being sold for $300. The LMT eBCG has significant improvements over a mil-spec BCG and is sold for only $15 more. • BCM Upper Receiver Groups offer an FN barrel which is comparable to the DD barrels that Geissele uses, but BCM actually forges and machines their own receivers and has much higher standards for quality control. A BCM URG will get you a better handguard and a better upper receiver backed by much better quality control without needing to wait on a sale. • Geissele sued the guy that exposed their bendy rails and runs an aggressive social media campaign that bans anyone that says anything negative about them on any media they control. • Geissele sued Joe Bob's Outfitters because they were selling Geissele triggers for too low of a price which Geissele claimed "devalued their name brand". Geissele runs an aggressive campaign and artificially inflates their own prices so that folks perceive their parts as higher quality than they really are. • Geissele also sued Jewell because they produced a trigger that was just as adjustable as their flagship Hi-Speed trigger. • When folks email Geissele about URG's with cosmetic damages Geissele says "it still works though, so what's the problem". • The MBT-2S outperforms the Geissele SSA-E while retailing for a 1/3rd of the price. When the MBT-2S first came out for $250 reviewers were saying that the increased price over the SSA-E was worth it for the benefit of a shorter first stage, cleaner second stage break, less overtravel, and a reset that's shorter and cleaner. Not only are LaRue triggers more consistent, but they're also made out of solid tool steel, unlike the Geissele line which is made out of cast metal. • Geissele sells mid-tier products at a top tier price while companies like LaRue sell top tier products at a mid-tier price. You can spend $774 for an incomplete Geissele "Super Duty" upper or you can spend $800 for a LaRue Ultimate Upper kit which will give you a semi-monolithic 7075-T6 handguard compared to Geissele's 6061-T6 handguard that uses an outdated clamping method, an upper receiver made in house to much tighter tolerances, a barrel that's famous for its precision and longevity, a gas block that doesn't leak gas, and an outstanding stock. Disclaimer: this is a very long rant covering multiple years. I have a horrible memory and very emotional rn so I'm sorry if things are confusing.
TLDR: my parents were chill growing up, but then when I tried to establish any independence they gaslit, manipulated, made fun of, and mentally abused me until I cut them off. They don't know I have so this post is just to remind myself what they did for when they come crawling to me sobbing about how good they are as parents and I'm being terrible.
I wanna say first, I had a difficult childhood but not because of them. I was a happy kid, who had friends and was kinda adjusted. But we were poor, jumped across the US about twice and my siblings and father were all disabled in different ways. (Youngest sibling and dad hard of hearing, younger sister had brain and back injuries due to Chiari Malformation [look it up it's actually a very interesting disease!!])
But when things started really changing was when I was in high school, around my junior year of school. I met a dude and we were best friends then dated. Newsflash, he was a terrible person. It ended in me and my sister getting a restraining order against him and both my siblings seeing and hearing things about me they should never have been exposed to.
I graduated high school even though I probably shouldn't have with my grades. I'm pretty sure my teachers just pitied me, and then after like a month I got diagnosed with ADHD, anxiety and depression. Go figure, who could have guessed.
I get on Adderall and it works great. For one day.
Then it devolved into me having all day panic attacks, vivid and extreme hallucinations, massive problems with an eating disorder and an inability to control any emotion. It led to me backhanding my youngest sibling over a dispute involving the dishwasher that I still to this day would do anything to reverse if I could.
I don't remember that three months or so period, I've blocked out most of the memories because they were so mentally and emotionally taxing that just thinking about makes me depressed. But at the time I really thought my parents were doing everything they could to help me through that time. They could've done more, but I reasoned that they were working and didn't have all the time in the world to baby me so I should handle this myself.
Eventually, all by myself, I decided to go cold turkey and went through withdrawals which were almost as hellish as the actual meds themselves. Looking back now I realized that the only way my parents could've been more hands off were if they had packed their bags and moved out.
They didn't talk to me about anything, they didn't help me keep track of symptoms. When I attacked my siblings they didn't protect them from me, or me from myself. Now as a 22 year old on new meds, my doctor just within the last month looked at my old records and was appalled because they started me as a 18 year old who was very new to meds and sensitive to them at a dose for grown adults well into their Adderall usage. (She told me they started me off around 25mg when she normally prescribes around 5-10mg for new users)
So they didn't advocate for me at all during this mentally traumatic time immediately after being traumatized for almost a year.
They took me to a therapist who noticed I was writing a story with an obvious self insert and very influenced storylines from my day to day life. When she asked to see my drawings and everything the next time my mother pulled me from therapy saying something I still remember to this day.
"I didn't send you here so she could ask you about your stories. I sent you here so she can talk about how you ex messed you up! She's not doing this fast enough!"
Well, come the end of summer and even though i was still struggling with leaving the house just for a Walmart trip they sent me to school for college across the state and basically wiped their hands clean of me.
I went into survival mode, believed my parents were right and I needed this so I did my best to fake it till I made it.
I shouldn't have been there, but in the long run it was what saved me. My friends I met there are some of the people who I've chosen as family and I met my current fiance while there through friends. Funnily enough, I wasn't allowed off campus. Even though my parents lived about two and a half hours away and wouldn't have known otherwise, it took convincing from one of my friends to go about two hours in another direction and it's where I met my fiance.
My parents REALLY didn't like Connor. But they did like the free labor he did for them and how mature he was to keep me "in line" for them. Now they could pawn off the driving around and emotions on him, because they never bothered to teach me how to drive or get a job or regulate my emotions. Connor could do all of that quite well tho, so they let him teach it to me.
But whenever the idea of him got brought up as my boyfriend, they would clam up. They didn't want me to date anyone, not after my ex. I thought it was them just worrying about me after a traumatic period and I was grateful for it.
Connor helped us move like five times, he did free things for my parents all the time and he was nothing but respectful the entire time he's known them. But eventually they moved to the same city I was going to college in and I was going through a hard patch again.
COVID had hit at the end of my freshman year and now they were living here in my college town and I started half online school for my sophomore year. Living with my parents again was hell. I was used to at this point living in a dorm and I wanted to come and go as I pleased. My friends got me rides and I fought and fought and fought to get a job until one day I applied anyways and started working at a McDonald's.
I was doing terribly in school, I didn't want to be in it anymore. Distance learning was difficult for me and they weren't doing anything to help me. I was slowly becoming suicidal again and I wanted nothing more than to find my own place.
During this time my dad was constantly working overtime. And one day when I was probably at my lowest he made a joke that he was "picking up all the overtime just to get away from me". I still remember it clear as day.
I was mentally declining and becoming more and more erratic as time passes because I was spiraling again and they just sat by and watched it happened while continuously judging me and making backhanded comments as I did.
All the way up to this point I was not known for fashion or hygiene. I was constantly self conscious and didn't have control of my ADHD so I was never one to doll myself up.
But me and Connor were going to go on a date, so I grabbed my prettiest dress, some tights and my favorite flats and did my hair all nice and even tried makeup. I felt so pretty and Connor was showing me with texts filled with compliments as he was on his way to pick me up.
My mom and siblings got there first, my mom took one look at me and told me to go change. She busted out laughing and was in hysterical over my outfit. She couldn't calm down and the reason she was laughing was because I'm a big chested girl and I had gained weight as of recent because my eating disorder was flipping from anorexia to binge eating. None of my clothes fit me.
I was in tears and just put on my normal jeans and hoodie in almost 80 degree weather and ran to Connors car in tears. They kept trying to call me back into the house but I just had him drive off without speaking to them. I didn't stay the night at their house for almost two days.
Mom spent that first night texting me that I was overreacting and that none of the clothes fit me and yes she could've been nicer but honestly I need to be realistic about my fashion if I'm going to attempt it.
If you couldn't tell at this point, my mom and picked out almost every piece of clothing I owned and because I wasn't anorexic anymore she was very upset whenever I showed skin.
Day to day life was getting worse by the day, but eventually I opened commissions. I posted it on Facebook for family and no one replied but my estranged grandmother on my mom's side asking for an insanely difficult piece. I draw mostly pretty women in specific poses with pens or pencils and that's it. Especially then.
She asked for a landscape drawing of her childhood home in a realistic watercolor drawing that she didn't have any references of and hadnt seen since she was a kid. It was easily worth close to 150 bucks, maybe more because I'm terrible with commission prices.
I offered it for 60 bucks, my mother asked if I was serious. I told her that one, I disliked this woman to the point of purposefully not contacting her for almost a decade at that point. And two, this was so far out of my comfort zone that I would have to learn new skills just to make it. And it's more than half off.
Then my dad texted me asking if I was serious. It devolved into a pissing contest on who can be colder and how fast I could move out. I wasn't pleasant. I will be the first to admit that, I was mentally unstable and lashing out at everyone. But I was also still a child who was recovering from the toll of drugs I was over proscribed and their emotional indifference during a fucking pandemic.
I emergency moved in with my fiance, then boyfriend and our friend who introduced us and I didn't speak to them for a week. This is the beginning of their pattern that they pull literally to this day regardless of the situation.
They finally texted me back after about a week/week and a half and acted as if nothing had happened. They hadn't kicked me out, I hadn't fought with them for days at that point and we hadn't exchanged some of the meanest glances and short phrases of our lives to each other. They wanted to talk about the football game and trivial things in their lives.
I didn't know what else to do, it was my family and they were giving me the pass to be let back in after I had mentally prepared myself to be shunned forever at this point, of course I took the olive branch. Maybe we'd speak about this in the future and laugh at how stuck up we had been. It could all change for the better maybe.
Me and my fiance lived there for a year or so before we contemplated moving to the town we had met in and he grew up in. His whole family was there and our current apartment was crawling with drug dealers, people stalking us for his old car and people taking shits in the hallway.
It was only an idea at that point, nothing concrete. But when I floated the idea to my dad one day when he was driving me home he went on a rant about how I would "become a baby factory" for Connor if I moved away from my support system and his family would turn me into their pawn because I was frankly to mentally weak of a person to not be swayed by them.
He wanted for a long time and dumped a lot of info and at random talked about how he kind of regretted having me and my siblings because he had us so young and he regrets moving across the country like we did because of money problems. I asked him if he just told me that he regrets having us and living in this state and he went "I did not just say that, don't put words in my mouth".
I went into my apartment and sobbed for a good few hours. Connor was pissed, but was optimistic because at least he was talking. We both wrote off the bad parts and tried to move forward hoping that this meant that he would be open to talking more often in the future.
We moved to my fiance's old home, things were fine for awhile. The longer I didn't live next to my family the more I realized that I mentally couldn't handle them anymore. They had been so mean and gaslighting.
Slowly but surely I was feeding my parents and info diet and I was placing my boundaries. There were a lot of mean spirited comments thrown my way, they used Connor for more labor during this time then keeping him at arms length and refusing to acknowledge that we were serious and looking to move in together.
Nothing of significance happened for about a year and a half until within the last year. It's 2022 now and me and Connor have lived together for most of the three or so years we've been together.
We're living in our own home, I'm working two jobs and we're both happy. Stressed, but happy.
Mom texts in our group chat that she wants me to give up my jobs and move back to their town to become a mailman like my dad. She swears that it's a government job with government pay and benefits and it's the best I can do as "a college dropout who's working two jobs."
I replied back that I was making almost $1,300 a paycheck with both jobs and I just moved into my house and that the town she lived in was absolutely terrible. Remember my old apartment? That's all that's available there and I wasn't keen to move back now that I lived in a three bed HOUSE that's completely quiet and all my own.
She responds by calling me four times in one day, spam texted the group chat and spams my DMs and sending Connor multiple texts and then calling me again.

Thanksgiving comes, my entire extended aunt's and uncles on my dad's side come and stay with us. Things are looking good and I'm having fun with my family for once.
Then I overheard my mom whispering to my uncle that "my entire personality is just Connor. I don't have any semblance of self anymore and I even moved away to just become Connors girl!" My uncle didn't react and didn't say anything. But I had to hide away to compose myself because I almost went nuclear and lost my mind.
Another time skip, now we're in the present and getting closer to the end of our story.
Connor proposed to me the day before Christmas Eve, surrounded by his incredibly loving family by putting my ring in my stocking and it was beautiful. The first person I called was my best friend, and then the second was my mother.

"Honey that's amazing, but don't text in the family group chat or anything cause your dad's asleep and he has to get up at 5am. Congrats, I'm going back to bed."
Neither of them contacted me about my engagement for almost a week until I went back for their Christmas. I went with my best friend and the entire time my family talked down to me, misremembered my size and instead of apologizing they insisted I didn't know my size and that I was indeed and XXL (I'm a medium to large) and started the night off by my mom mentioning my engagement only once.

Hi again everyone, it's been about a month since my 2am pity party. I wanna say, thank you for the overwhelming support that I received on the other post.
Especially the person who mentioned that my parents were fine with abusing me but not my siblings since they were physically unwell rather than mental like me. That one hit home probably harder than any other comment, I didn't think of that way but honestly it was something someone probably should've said.
I'd like to apologize for how rambly and long the last post was, I was in the middle of a panic attacks and had been ignoring calls and texts from them for days. I felt like a horrible person and was gaslighting myself into almost going into contact with them again.
The post was more for myself to understand and write out all the mean things they've done so that I could look back and be like "wow, they really reduced me to that huh".
But for the actual update, I returned their car to them and after that I vanished. I blocked all of my families phone numbers, but left my siblings unblocked and open on all social media. I didn't want their numbers to be used to contact me unless it was them, their numbers have since been unblocked.
My parents didn't really notice at first, I got a text from mom saying "she was trying as hard as she could, I just was pulling away and she doesn't know why!!". I might post some of the screenshots of my conversations with them sometime in the future so you can also marvel at how self centered they act.
It was mostly mom for a bit, nothing really from dad. Then one day she texts that she was going to give me space because I "wasn't talking to them for some reason" and she ceased all contact after that.
It was quiet for about a week, then dad started calling me. My phone shows me the caller id and the time they called, but blocks the call itself. So I got to see almost every morning for about a week or so that I had missed a call from him, then he started texting me and tried to use the age old tactic of intimidation to get me to talk to him.

I kinda just rolled my eyes and didn't respond, turns out after skimming the family group chat that he's been diagnosed with pretty bad carpal tunnel syndrome in both of his hands and a severe lower back injury they've yet to figure out. He also suffers from a myriad of other illnesses rn but still forces himself to work 60+ hours as a postal carrier so I dunno what he expects.
Tbh, this might make me a bad person but I didn't really care. If it had been about my siblings I would've probably jumped on the phone and been freaking out. But I don't really hold much feelings besides resentment, confusion and anger with my parents. So this news didn't really phase me.
In better news, Connor has received a few raises due to county regulations being changed and I now also have a job with the county! I'll be moving onto my own insurance and finally moving onto it without worrying about contact.
I also learned right about that time that my parents had taken out 5 different loans in my name to pay for college, all varying up to about 12k. They didn't explain this with me at all and had apparently been paying them all for the last 3 years. So I have credit ig when I thought I didn't, so yippee! I have to figure out a way to transfer it into my name and figure out the logistics, but yeah that's a thing now.
My siblings haven't contacted me, the middle one is incredibly angry with my behavior and wants me to contact my mom at least. I've just avoided the topic with her, my other sibling I can't honestly tell you how they feel. But they apparently plan to move to a big city about four hours away for college in the coming years, so let's hope they go through the same transformation I did.
And that's.. honestly about it. Lots of weird texts that they did nothing but stress themselves out with and my financial situation is looking up.
We also bought a dog recently, her name is Mandy and our other dog copper is still getting used to her. So my days are occupied mostly with taking care of a German shepherd puppy who body slams me awake at 6am everyday.

Disclaimer: this is a very long rant covering multiple years. I have a horrible memory and very emotional rn so I'm sorry if things are confusing.
TLDR: my parents were chill growing up, but then when I tried to establish any independence they gaslit, manipulated, made fun of, and mentally abused me until I cut them off. They don't know I have so this post is just to remind myself what they did for when they come crawling to me sobbing about how good they are as parents and I'm being terrible.
I wanna say first, I had a difficult childhood but not because of them. I was a happy kid, who had friends and was kinda adjusted. But we were poor, jumped across the US about twice and my siblings and father were all disabled in different ways. (Youngest sibling and dad hard of hearing, younger sister had brain and back injuries due to Chiari Malformation [look it up it's actually a very interesting disease!!])
But when things started really changing was when I was in high school, around my junior year of school. I met a dude and we were best friends then dated. Newsflash, he was a terrible person. It ended in me and my sister getting a restraining order against him and both my siblings seeing and hearing things about me they should never have been exposed to.
I graduated high school even though I probably shouldn't have with my grades. I'm pretty sure my teachers just pitied me, and then after like a month I got diagnosed with ADHD, anxiety and depression. Go figure, who could have guessed.
I get on Adderall and it works great. For one day.
Then it devolved into me having all day panic attacks, vivid and extreme hallucinations, massive problems with an eating disorder and an inability to control any emotion. It led to me backhanding my youngest sibling over a dispute involving the dishwasher that I still to this day would do anything to reverse if I could.
I don't remember that three months or so period, I've blocked out most of the memories because they were so mentally and emotionally taxing that just thinking about makes me depressed. But at the time I really thought my parents were doing everything they could to help me through that time. They could've done more, but I reasoned that they were working and didn't have all the time in the world to baby me so I should handle this myself.
Eventually, all by myself, I decided to go cold turkey and went through withdrawals which were almost as hellish as the actual meds themselves. Looking back now I realized that the only way my parents could've been more hands off were if they had packed their bags and moved out.
They didn't talk to me about anything, they didn't help me keep track of symptoms. When I attacked my siblings they didn't protect them from me, or me from myself. Now as a 22 year old on new meds, my doctor just within the last month looked at my old records and was appalled because they started me as a 18 year old who was very new to meds and sensitive to them at a dose for grown adults well into their Adderall usage. (She told me they started me off around 25mg when she normally prescribes around 5-10mg for new users)
So they didn't advocate for me at all during this mentally traumatic time immediately after being traumatized for almost a year.
They took me to a therapist who noticed I was writing a story with an obvious self insert and very influenced storylines from my day to day life. When she asked to see my drawings and everything the next time my mother pulled me from therapy saying something I still remember to this day.
"I didn't send you here so she could ask you about your stories. I sent you here so she can talk about how you ex messed you up! She's not doing this fast enough!"
Well, come the end of summer and even though i was still struggling with leaving the house just for a Walmart trip they sent me to school for college across the state and basically wiped their hands clean of me.
I went into survival mode, believed my parents were right and I needed this so I did my best to fake it till I made it.
I shouldn't have been there, but in the long run it was what saved me. My friends I met there are some of the people who I've chosen as family and I met my current fiance while there through friends. Funnily enough, I wasn't allowed off campus. Even though my parents lived about two and a half hours away and wouldn't have known otherwise, it took convincing from one of my friends to go about two hours in another direction and it's where I met my fiance.
My parents REALLY didn't like Connor. But they did like the free labor he did for them and how mature he was to keep me "in line" for them. Now they could pawn off the driving around and emotions on him, because they never bothered to teach me how to drive or get a job or regulate my emotions. Connor could do all of that quite well tho, so they let him teach it to me.
But whenever the idea of him got brought up as my boyfriend, they would clam up. They didn't want me to date anyone, not after my ex. I thought it was them just worrying about me after a traumatic period and I was grateful for it.
Connor helped us move like five times, he did free things for my parents all the time and he was nothing but respectful the entire time he's known them. But eventually they moved to the same city I was going to college in and I was going through a hard patch again.
COVID had hit at the end of my freshman year and now they were living here in my college town and I started half online school for my sophomore year. Living with my parents again was hell. I was used to at this point living in a dorm and I wanted to come and go as I pleased. My friends got me rides and I fought and fought and fought to get a job until one day I applied anyways and started working at a McDonald's.
I was doing terribly in school, I didn't want to be in it anymore. Distance learning was difficult for me and they weren't doing anything to help me. I was slowly becoming suicidal again and I wanted nothing more than to find my own place.
During this time my dad was constantly working overtime. And one day when I was probably at my lowest he made a joke that he was "picking up all the overtime just to get away from me". I still remember it clear as day.
I was mentally declining and becoming more and more erratic as time passes because I was spiraling again and they just sat by and watched it happened while continuously judging me and making backhanded comments as I did.
All the way up to this point I was not known for fashion or hygiene. I was constantly self conscious and didn't have control of my ADHD so I was never one to doll myself up.
But me and Connor were going to go on a date, so I grabbed my prettiest dress, some tights and my favorite flats and did my hair all nice and even tried makeup. I felt so pretty and Connor was showing me with texts filled with compliments as he was on his way to pick me up.
My mom and siblings got there first, my mom took one look at me and told me to go change. She busted out laughing and was in hysterical over my outfit. She couldn't calm down and the reason she was laughing was because I'm a big chested girl and I had gained weight as of recent because my eating disorder was flipping from anorexia to binge eating. None of my clothes fit me.
I was in tears and just put on my normal jeans and hoodie in almost 80 degree weather and ran to Connors car in tears. They kept trying to call me back into the house but I just had him drive off without speaking to them. I didn't stay the night at their house for almost two days.
Mom spent that first night texting me that I was overreacting and that none of the clothes fit me and yes she could've been nicer but honestly I need to be realistic about my fashion if I'm going to attempt it.
If you couldn't tell at this point, my mom and picked out almost every piece of clothing I owned and because I wasn't anorexic anymore she was very upset whenever I showed skin.
Day to day life was getting worse by the day, but eventually I opened commissions. I posted it on Facebook for family and no one replied but my estranged grandmother on my mom's side asking for an insanely difficult piece. I draw mostly pretty women in specific poses with pens or pencils and that's it. Especially then.
She asked for a landscape drawing of her childhood home in a realistic watercolor drawing that she didn't have any references of and hadnt seen since she was a kid. It was easily worth close to 150 bucks, maybe more because I'm terrible with commission prices.
I offered it for 60 bucks, my mother asked if I was serious. I told her that one, I disliked this woman to the point of purposefully not contacting her for almost a decade at that point. And two, this was so far out of my comfort zone that I would have to learn new skills just to make it. And it's more than half off.
Then my dad texted me asking if I was serious. It devolved into a pissing contest on who can be colder and how fast I could move out. I wasn't pleasant. I will be the first to admit that, I was mentally unstable and lashing out at everyone. But I was also still a child who was recovering from the toll of drugs I was over proscribed and their emotional indifference during a fucking pandemic.
I emergency moved in with my fiance, then boyfriend and our friend who introduced us and I didn't speak to them for a week. This is the beginning of their pattern that they pull literally to this day regardless of the situation.

They hadn't kicked me out, I hadn't fought with them for days at that point and we hadn't exchanged some of the meanest glances and short phrases of our lives to each other. They wanted to talk about the football game and trivial things in their lives.
I didn't know what else to do, it was my family and they were giving me the pass to be let back in after I had mentally prepared myself to be shunned forever at this point, of course I took the olive branch. Maybe we'd speak about this in the future and laugh at how stuck up we had been. It could all change for the better maybe.

It was quiet for about a week, then dad started calling me. My phone shows me the caller id and the time they called, but blocks the call itself. So I got to see almost every morning for about a week or so that I had missed a call from him, then he started texting me and tried to use the age old tactic of intimidation to get me to talk to him.
It was mostly just "you better answer the phone rn", then he'd call a bunch but he finally sent a text about a week ago being cryptic about how I wouldn't know about stuff till after it happened? And if I was going to act like a child these were the consequences.
I kinda just rolled my eyes and didn't respond, turns out after skimming the family group chat that he's been diagnosed with pretty bad carpal tunnel syndrome in both of his hands and a severe lower back injury they've yet to figure out. He also suffers from a myriad of other illnesses rn but still forces himself to work 60+ hours as a postal carrier so I dunno what he expects.
Tbh, this might make me a bad person but I didn't really care. If it had been about my siblings I would've probably jumped on the phone and been freaking out. But I don't really hold much feelings besides resentment, confusion and anger with my parents. So this news didn't really phase me.
In better news, Connor has received a few raises due to county regulations being changed and I now also have a job with the county! I'll be moving onto my own insurance and finally moving onto it without worrying about contact.
I also learned right about that time that my parents had taken out 5 different loans in my name to pay for college, all varying up to about 12k. They didn't explain this with me at all and had apparently been paying them all for the last 3 years. So I have credit ig when I thought I didn't, so yippee! I have to figure out a way to transfer it into my name and figure out the logistics, but yeah that's a thing now.
My siblings haven't contacted me, the middle one is incredibly angry with my behavior and wants me to contact my mom at least. I've just avoided the topic with her, my other sibling I can't honestly tell you how they feel. But they apparently plan to move to a big city about four hours away for college in the coming years, so let's hope they go through the same transformation I did.
And that's.. honestly about it. Lots of weird texts that they did nothing but stress themselves out with and my financial situation is looking up.
We also bought a dog recently, her name is Mandy and our other dog copper is still getting used to her. So my days are occupied mostly with taking care of a German shepherd puppy who body slams me awake at 6am everyday.

Got one as a range toy. Have older 1970s rem870 for important stuff.
Gen4 is different than gen 3 or pro as far as barrel removal. There is a barrel nut on this one that the the other gens dont seem to have so guessing that needs to come off to get the bolt out. If Checked for vids and couldn’t find anything and manual just says not to remove the barrel nut (any idea what the torque is if this comes off?). TIA

 | Hey all, submitted by Available_Delivery31 to NFA [link] [comments] So let's get this out of the way and start by saying I'm a moron. I wanted to install the keymo brake on a ddm4 pdw 300blk using a magpul wrench and realized I didn't have a torque wrench to go 30-35ft/lbs. So I bought this funky ass torque wrench that is heavy and more than a foot long. And I also don't have a vise to hold the lower. Then I realized I had to time the muzzle brake and no combination of shims that came with the Sandman S were actually getting it to the exact 12 o'clock position. All and all I scratched the whole thing, ended up with ~32ft/lbs of torque on it, one single 1/7 turn shim, a few degrees unaligned, fucked up my hands, arms and legs trying to hold the damn thing stable while handling the wrenches, unscrewed the buffer tube somehow and had to reinstall, and kept getting it crooked to one side as well every time I tried to get to the right torque. Questions: What are the chances that I fucked up my threads? Will I feel any difference having it at around 10 degrees off? What tools am I missing to do a decent job of assembling all this at home? I know for sure I kinda fucked the buffer tube threads because the wrench kept getting out of the castle nut and hitting everything. Appreciate your help, Regards.
