Will be a long post, and I'm not very good at finding the specific words to convey my emotions, so I hope you can understand.
I'm a 28 year old female. My first boyfriend and I started dating when I was 13 and he was 15, and dated up until he died at age 21, shortly after joining the military. He was my first everything. I started a new medication a month ago that makes me have vivid dreams. Like, it feels like they're new memories. TLDR: manager quits night before new unnecessary hire is coming
A long time ago I started at a growing and transitioning company. My manager was a stickler for rules and was adamant that we used his processes and wat of working. This caused friction with other teams, since our projects almost never needed the full package from my team to succeed, but my manager made us do it anyway, creating a bottleneck for all other teams. I'm taking about full 100+ pages of documentation for a three month project. So our team needed to expand and the manager hired another person to help us out.
So a week before the new hire is due to arrive, the CEO and CTO have a good talk with my manager. They ask him to be a bit more flexible and work with the other teams. This was on Thursday. After the meeting, my manager went home without any explanation to us. Friday, he didn't come in. No one knew why. The CEO and CTO thought they had a constructive conversation, and knowing them very well, I don't see any other way they could talk to someone. So we had no clue.
Then the new week begins. While doing my morning routine, i open up my email to see what I missed, and there is was. A shortish mail from my manager resigning, send to all employees. I was stunned. I got to work and everyone was stunned. We were so flabbergasted that we forgot that the new hire would come in that day. So the person arrived, and they were all excited. A lovely persoon who would no doubt be a good addition to our team, but no one knew what he should do.
Our company had about five big clients with in average three to four projects going on and about one or two in the starting phase. My team was four strong with one intern working their own school project, two team members, and the manager. We managed perfectly, as long as we didn't have to create 100+ page documentation for every small thing we worked on. So the new hire was overkill. Everyone knew it. I currently work at the Deal Advisory (not FDD) department in a Big 4, and after the upcoming performance review, I may be able to change from my current service line to FDD after discussing it with my seniors.
The problem is, that FDD seems to be a very accounting heavy role, and I'm a business and not an accounting graduate, and as much as I find the work interesting, I don't want to disappoint anyone, nor myself. Hello everyone, I just wanted to share the great success I've had using tapping and visualisation for clearing my fear of driving.
I've passed my test 1st time at 18 y.o. when I still lived in Poland. I used visualisation to pass, "the secret" was released shortly before my exam.
It was in my last year of high-school, and I drove a little bit here and there with my parents cars. Then as soon as I finished school I've left to UK (15 years ago) and in this whole time i didn't drive at all.
Towards the end of last year I've decided it's time to change, and bought my first car. The first few times, relearning to drive with my partner were horrible, I just had SO MUCH fear, anxiety, no faith in my ability, and it always ended in tears.
Then I've realised that I have this amazing tool and I need to use it here.
So I took a week break from driving, and I tapped everyday together with visualising how easy,safe and enjoyable it is for me to drive and a week later, when I got behind the wheel, the change was incredible. I felt calm and confident and really feeling " I CAN DO IT".
It's been few months now, and i absolutely love driving today and I owe it all to EFT 🧡

I have an older brother named Jeremy. Jeremy is normally super sociable and an all around nice guy so it was very surprising when in the last couple of weeks he’s been barely talking to anyone at all. I mean seriously he won’t talk to me, our parents, his girlfriend, anyone. Hell his best friends came around the other week asking if he wanted to play some basketball but he didn’t even come out of his room. That was the last straw for me. Jeremy normally loves basketball and he treats his friends like family, not once in my 15 years of life have I ever seen him not want to hang out with people.
After dinner yesterday, I went up to his room and knocked 3 times on his door. No answer. I knocked 3 more times. No answer
“Jeremy, it’s me Logan can you please open the door”
Just as I said that the door creaked open despite no-one being anywhere near the door, the only person in the room was Jeremy, but it wasn’t Jeremy. I knew it wasn’t. He was curled up in a ball next to his bed sobbing uncontrollably, but the sobs weren’t sadness like his girlfriend broke up with him or something, they were what I can only describe has pure and utter pain. Agony.
I was so focused on Jeremy that I hadn’t even taken the chance to look around the rest of the room. The walls were covered in pentagrams that sent the most spine-chilling feeling down me that nothing else has ever done before. On the floor there was black sludge that smelled like absolute dog shit. The wooden planks that had once been a floor were torn up everywhere so I had to be careful where I stepped as to avoid getting splinters.
“Jeremy what the fuck is going on” I said with my voice shaking in fear
No reply
“Seriously Jeremy are you alr-“
I let out the most bloodcurdling scream I have ever produced. I don’t even know if it was a scream since all my strength was going to my legs to keep me held in position.
In the blink of an eye Jeremy had gone from the fetal position sobbing next to his bed a few feet away to standing millimeters away from me. Jeremy has always been taller than me, but the height he was standing at now was nearly impossible for a human being. That wasn’t even the most terrifying part. His eyes were. His eyes were pitch black. An endless void of pain. Then he smiled. A toothy grin filled with sharp fangs and a mouth with that same endless void black. His smile went from one ear to the other. Seriously, it had cut open his face so the corners of his smile stretched from one end of his face to the other. And with a voice I can only describe as the devil speaking through Jeremy, he said “don’t worry Logan he takes care of me now” and then he began contorting I could hear his bones crack and snap as he struggled and then with a flash of black smoke he was gone. A few seconds later I fell to the ground unconscious.
I woke up in my room the next day with my mom and dad on the side of my bed. Outside it was a beautiful sunny day.
“Logan finally you woke up” my mom said frantically.
“Here champ have a glass of water” my dad said handing me a glass of water.
I put the glass down on my bedside table and muttered “what happened”
“Well we found you knocked out cold in the guest room”
Then I remembered what had happened the night before.
“Wait Jeremy, is he ok” I asked shaking with fear
“Who’s Jeremy” my mom asked with confusion in her voice.
“You know my brother Jeremy” I replied not knowing what they meant.
“Son you never had a brother, I think your still a bit tired come on Susan let’s leave so he can get some more sleep” my dad said.
My parents left the room but I was so full of questions I didn’t really care. A few minutes later however, I got the feeling that everything was ok. I felt fine, I looked fine. Hell I even forgot all about Jeremy for a minute.
I am now writing this a few hours later, you may be wondering if I’m ok. But don’t worry I’m fine.
After all, he is taking care of me now.

So I have just started contract job with CRA and they said they will be willing to extend contract based on performance after my end of contract on May 26. But the problem is that if they offer me an extension, I have my vacation booked like flight & everything for Vancouver from June 6-10 which is like 4 working days. If i get the extension, what should I do? The contract extension will probably last till end of June. Any advices? Thank you

Disclaimer - this is a long post! There will be TL;DR at the bottom.
Sorry for the clickbait title, but I'd like this post to reach out to as many people as possible, especially people who're thoroughly enjoying New World yet can't understand how this amazing game is declining in population, a sentiment I've shared until I hit level 60.
A little background - into MMO gaming for close to 20 years now and I probably tried every title under the sun. New World eluded me certainly due to how bad of a launch it went through but after reading about the revamped new player experience and how the game progressively got better I thought I'd give it a try. Here are my observations (from the perspective of a mainly PvP player):

• Combat is amazing. That really is what keeps you going and look forward to end-game. Yes, De-sync is definitely a problem, but not enough to deter you from the game. What can significantly improve this is abilities like Evade Shot, Fleche, etc getting CC immunity within its duration (black desert anyone?).
• Leveling was actually quite okay. Not EPIC or GREAT because it's so difficult to ignore the blatant copy pasta of assets throughout the entire world... Seriously I even had the shower thought this game should be called "Recycle World" not New World. This was a first for me playing most MMO's worth the time, to see such reuse of assets. Quests are fine, but they can be extremely annoying making you go back and forth the same zone for follow up quests. Again, combat carries its weight big time here.
• Throughout leveling I had the War mode enabled the entire time and picked the least dominant faction so I could get more fights in the open world. I had about 10-12 encounters total all the way up to 60, and it was really fun! I started looking forward to Operations (which isn't available until 60, which is super weird considering there's gear scaling to 600 there). So those little open world encounters, in my mind, were the "preview" to what's to come at 60 which really motivated me to keep going. Boy was I wrong!
• Economy is decent for a new player. I've been frequent with my trade posts and managed to amass close to 30k by the time I hit 60. I also upgraded my gear very often, so I'm guessing it could've been closer to 35k if I was very conservative with my spendings. Needless to say it allowed me to prepare to end-game by buying plenty of budget legendaries with a few good perks.
• I bought all the 600 score gear before I hit 60, around lv59. Suffice to say I was shocked to see their levels drop to 500/550 when I hit 60. That's when the biggest problem of the game introduces itself: EXPERTISE.

Alright so at this point I need to expand. I hit 60 and immediately started spamming OPR. Knowing the gear and experience gap, I knew I wasn't going to start shredding old timers right away but I thought there's a possibility to contribute or stand my own, given I play well. No. Absolutely not. Your chances of killing someone who's fully geared and been playing for a while is near 0 even if you hit all your skill shots and they miss theirs. You're literally tickling them and dancing around them while they kill you in a hit or two if they get your hands on you. Potions are regenerating all the damage you can possibly do.
Before you jump in and tell me I should optimize builds, stats, foods, perks, etc... I've done all of those things to the best of my potential for my progression. I bought gear as close to BiS as I can with a few perks missing and as close as possible stat distribution. Yes, it's not perfect but it should allow competition.
Even going full Light with 400 dex and 80 con, heavies are critting other light players... 2500? that's less than what a potion heals.
Anyway - this in itself is not the biggest problem! I'm not one to shy away from progression or challenge, right? And fair is fair, these people are playing for years, they need to be powerful. I get that.
The biggest problem of the game (for a pvp player) is it offers such slow progression for doing pvp related things:

• 2 ruby orbs from OPR and 1 garnet from Arena (enjoy getting max expertise in a year)
• No weapon skill increase from OPArena
• No expertise increase from OPArena
• Time gated gypsum orb caches

Desperate for answers I asked people how I can close this crazy gap and unfortunately I've been informed...

Oh so you wanna compete! Easy bro, just spam Genesis or Lazarus dungeons for a few days until you max your expertise then use those Gypsums to craft caches and upgrade gear to 625.

Like seriously? You're gonna make me spam the same few meaningless dungeons to slowly increase my expertise so I can start enjoying the game? Thank you but no thank you!
I wanna preface by saying I think most people quit before making it as far as I did. Nothing's a major red-flag, to be honest. The copy pasting of the world and 0 effort questing and leveling experience will probably get to some people, especially if they're not a fan of action combat. But even the most determined and hardcore player will call out this BS of a system and switch for an alternative (there are plenty).
The fixes are extremely simple:

• Allow weapon skill increase in OPRs.
• Allow expertise increase from OPR (even +2 each item per OPR played, so I can do what I love to progress)
• Remove Gypsum cache craft timers
• Let people join OPR earlier (their gear scales to 600), give them some exp so it can be a slower but viable alternative to questing.
• Tweak abilities with movement so they gain CC immunity (not invulnerability)

The game has SO MUCH POTENTIAL! Squandered on bad game designs and systems. The funniest part is, it's NOT AT ALL ABOUT MONETIZATION. Usually bullshit game designs are a part of the P2W scheme with MMOs. Not here! It's bullshit just because! I'm honestly baffled. I really wanted to get into this MMO but sadly it's still not there yet. Will be keeping an eye on it for sure, but through the lenses of playing another MMO, sadly.

TL;DR:
Too much world copy paste. Massive gear gap between new players and old timers, means to close that gap efficiently is limited to repetitive PvE chores. Should be possible to progress PvP-only! Remove timer from Gypsum Caches ffs what the hell is the point. Game is not new player friendly at all and has no reason to be that way.

Hi, sorry for format, I’m on mobile. I (26 nb) have lived with my friend (26 M) of nearly 10 years for about 6 months. We also lived together for about a year in college. I initially told him that he could move in because he was having difficulty finding an apartment within his budget because his job did not pay him enough/give him enough hours to afford a place in my city.
He moved in October of 2022 with the stipulation that he would only stay 2-3 months until he could save for moving costs and find a cheap enough apartment or get a better paying job. He has been paying me about 1/3 of the rent while I pay the remaining 2/3rds and the utilities. In this time he has not found a better paying job and is now in panic mode because my lease is ending in June and I plan to move.
Before he moved in, he would often ask to come over and do his laundry here because the facilities in his complex were down. Our mutual friend who lived closer to him offered to allow him to do his laundry there, and from that point on he didn’t come to hang out with me again until moving in.
After moving in he remained holed up in his room (which is fine, personal space) but would not hang out with me at all unless it was initiated by me or he needed something. I’ve recently learned that he’s been going to mutual friend’s house about once weekly whereas I can barely get him to hang out with me once per month if that. Mind you, I introduced them about a year ago and they did not hang out until she offered him the laundry services.
Another instance that frustrated me was when I was playing a game we both play frequently and he walked past me in the living room playing for hours, but when an online friend of mine he’d met once was on, he immediately noticed and asked to join.
It’s not for lack of trying to hang out because I often ask him for game recommendations for us to play together or suggest board games, movies or other activities to do which are mostly refused.
I feel as though he doesn’t value me as a friend as much as a financial safety net as I told him if he really can’t find a better job or cheaper apartment that he could stay with me and I could look for a two bedroom on the next move instead of a one. Part of me feels that I’m overreacting, but the way I feel and some of my friends’ feedback is telling me that I’m not.

For context ; Yesterday was my (F18) mom’s (F42) birthday and my question is do grown adults truly care if people wish them a happy birthday or not? My family had a difficult year and my mom who used to be an Instagram girl doesn’t even post much on her social like she used to (which is like SHOCKING to everyone in my family) She used to keep up with those things and treated it like a hobby. It was endearing to see how much fun she had with her Instagram and etc but as of last year she’s been MIA just because we’ve had money issues. We all are struggling and I couldn’t even buy her a cake and take her out to dinner with the whole family like I wanted to. I had been checking her phone when she wasn’t looking just to see if she missed any happy birthdays and …nothing. This is the second year in a row this has happened. None of her friends or anyone said anything. I assumed maybe because she’d been MIA on socials her friends just forgot because they hadn’t seen her in so long but i don’t know…this is year 2 of this occurring, and last year she vocalized how no one sent her birthday wishes but clarified that it’s “not important and how she doesn’t care because she’s grown” but the way she said it was a jokingly sad way that I felt had an undertone she didn’t want to address. My grandma didn’t even wish her a happy birthday but I’m trying to give her a pass because the rest of our family doesn’t live in America and sending messages and making calls cost money but she calls my mom nearly everyday, and still forgets every year. Her sisters, brothers, everyone else didn’t say a word for another year in a row and it just made me feel horrible especially given the fact that we couldn’t give her a nice birthday celebration. My dad, sister, younger brother and myself all wished her a happy birthday but I feel like it isn’t enough. How should I go about this? Is it stupid to feel so upset when she probably isn’t bothered ?

So I realize that this will most likely make me the minority and it's not something I yell from the rooftops, This really isnt a shitpost. But having read the Cradle up until to Dreadgod, Lindon is actually my least favorite character. I binged all the books, I even took sometime away from them to revaluate my thoughts and I like the series, but just not the MC.
I just felt that his power creep from Unsouled to Dreadgod was way too fast and it never seemed to me like he had any real challenges. In the beginning I was interested because it seemed like the setup was him having a disability and having to find ways to overcome it. I loved the idea that in a world where everyone could read, he had dyslexia and would be come the next Stephen King. But it seems like with every book he gets told you wont be able to achieve ______ or you don't have the knowledge or power to do ______. So he gets a major level up to do said thing. I hadn't been paying attention to the timeline but when I got to Bloodline and realize it had only been 3ish years and he was already a Overlord vs Mercy who at 18 with the help of her Monarch mother had just become a Lady and had to use her book or Ziel who reached it before the last uncrowned tournament but was atleast in mid to late 20's. Like we're told that even with prodigies being taught from Archlord/Ladies and having the best elixirs and pills. Hitting it under 30 was miraculous but Lindon somehow does it in under 3 and even though he is supposed to have a harder time than most. But here he was constantly going up against opponents leagues stronger than him and coming out on top and I felt that he lost that sense of humility that he had in the beginning. I know that it's framed as Lindon not really knowing or understanding how strong he was but honestly to me he lost that once he got to Lord Status, His drive is just to constantly get stronger and more powerful just didn't come off right to me.
Additionally I remember during the Uncrowned Tournament Arc thinking he would logically make it to the top 5-10 but lose, because realistically speaking he is a prodigy, but he was going against the best of the best with a couple years training vs 3+ decades. It really wouldn't have made any sense for it to go the other way. And I understand that the consensus might have been the other direction in the subreddit during that time. I believe he had lost at the time and was watching Yerrin continue and the thoughts he had annoyed me so much. He just seemed so butthurt about the fact that he lost, it almost actually made me not finish. I've read enough stories about the MC gaining immense power and beating every enemy that they encounter that I was happy it didn't seem to be happening this time. Also Yerrin spent years being taught by a sage, had enough will to hold back a piece of the Bleeding Phoenix for days, I understand being sad but really she was always going to be better than him. I actually really enjoyed it when Eithan taught her how to use the Madra around her to "see" in a different way and I felt that it would have helped me feel more for Lindon if he had been taught the same thing vs using Dross as an adhoc tactical computer or having a hunger arm that sucks up madra. He never actually seems to learn or improve after a certain point just create new device or technique, Rinse and repeat.
So like I said in the beginning I understand that most people won't agree with me and I'm happy to listen and understand other points of view. I actually read the series before I found other subreddits like Progressionfantasy or Litrpg. So to see the wide acclaim and interest didn't surprise me but it doesn't seem like most have the same thought on the MC. Additionally I actually enjoy the series it has enough depth that you could right 5 different series set in the same universe or multiverse. So it's not a fuck Cradle post more I enjoy the other characters more than the MC. Hopefully with Waybound it'll change.
