| Hi everyone, I moved in to my house a few years ago and there is a small out-building I have been too scared to tackle as I'm not too handy. It's really damp as you can see from the green walls 🤢 The electrics are disconnected and I'll be removing all the wiring as well as replacing the doors. My question is about how I go about sorting the damp out? What should my priorities be? Thanks everyone 😙 submitted by BadAmbassadors to DIYhelp [link] [comments] |

2023.04.02 10:54 Changonrtgc199 Multi-spec Healer main here, the Great Healer Drought is not due to having too little incentive, hear me out:
To start I believe one of the biggest problems is that it is incredibly difficult and fundamentally not fun when it is your job to react and save someone from dying often times<2 seconds.
The fact that healers have the smallest impact on winning games that they have had in the history of the game. No matter how well you play, if your dps cant capitalize and secure a kill, there is not as much you can do as healer to make a play and win than in the past.
Historically, healers would utilize the kit they have to influence winning plays; such as an Rdruid following up a cc on the enemy healer with cyclone to get a kill. Unfortunately now with the absurd damage coming in so fast, most often than not if you spend the time to cast a cc, then it is a complete waste of time, even a waste of a gcd, and your dps could very well die in that short time.
To elaborate more on how broken playing a healer is, let me explain a bit about how the fundamental core design of a Resto Druid literally does not work in the current game.
Obviously the main source of healing comes from HOTs. Even with a teammate drenched in every single HOT and big defensive in the Rdruid's kit, they will still die through burst. Since HOTs take time to heal from 6 seconds+, it literally can not keep someone alive when the time to kill often is <2 seconds.
The majority of the healers have core mechanics which they do not utilize or can not use due to everything happening so fast. Most the duration of a match is spent spamming big 'Oh Sh*t' buttons". As a healer, even winning a game after frantically mashing really only big defensive cooldowns just is not at all a satisfying nor fun experience.
This is my observation from being on the inside as a multi-spec healer main throughout the years. Us who truly like to play healers don't play for extra gold or anything like that, it is because it's fun to us, but currently it is just not enjoyable. I hope this can shed some light on the situation with the lack of healers.
I'd love to hear thoughts from other healers as well as dps players, what you think might also contribute to the real underlying causes of the great healer drought.
Thanks.

2023.04.02 10:51 khaotic-n Let yourself be sad- don't smoke
It's been over a year since my grandma died and I've been high ever since until the last 29 hours.
I swear to god I'm sadder than I would have been a year ago. Take all the sadness and just add on guilt and shame at the same time. The withdrawal symptoms alone are bad but every time I close my eyes now I see her laying in that hospital bed, hooked up to all those wires, crying because she just wanted to get up to walk around and having no idea who I was. That fucking broke me... The last time I ever saw her she thought I was a stranger, she thought the real me was 20 years younger.
I'm not a person my grandma would have liked thanks to weed and I definitely haven't made her proud with my decisions.
If you're sad please don't smoke.... Just be sad. The more time you let pass the worse you're making it. I didn't believe it when people said that until right now and let me tell you it's so fucking true.

2023.04.02 10:49 zoochadookdook Luitron caseta dimmable switch with accent lighting going out. Rope vs tape lights? Installing in octagon crown molding/custom.
Hey there -
I have a friend with a 99’ built home. The original incandescent lights are going out.
I got up on a ladder and pulled them from the molding. Nearly had a heart attack as they weren’t fixed in place at all (tape was paper by now) but I have the lengths.
The only rope lights I could find at Lowe’s/Home Depot were some utilitech led models. I attached them and at the lowest setting on the dimmer switch - there’s still a faint light/standby current. I believe this means the luitron switch model has to be pulled at the tab at the bottom to kill standby - which isn’t going to work for this person. They just want the switch/remote to work. They want to stick with the warm light as this is in the living room and bedroom.
I’m looking for some advice:
Rope vs strip. Ropes are heavy and they were just laid in the grooves of this molding - I’m sure that didn’t help with the degradation. What would you recommend for this application?
And to piggyback off this - is there a way I can get led lights that won’t pick up that standby current in the formerly “off” position on this switch? I’m hoping to get a cuttable spool/strips and just attach it down the line - which leads me to:
How would y’all attach this? Lay it in the trim again (led route no heat) or staple strips horizontally inside?
Thanks for any advice - I’m thinking I’ll need something around 170 ft or so.
Also - bonus question - there was a former install attempt for a gfi on this stucco and the wire for the window alarm was cut. I can see it from the outside through that hole and the inside window trim bottom. Any tips on the best route to rerun that? It’s a tiny little cable and I could open it a bit more as a outlet/box/cover are going on top of here anyways
Thanks!

2023.04.02 10:48 SealoLimited END SEAL HUNTING!!
Can you believe this STILL happens today? There is no reason why seals, amongst other animals, should be slaughtered for their fur. It is not necessary for our survival and there are plenty of alternatives out there. Hunting white coats is illegal now (harp seals) but once they shed their lanugo coat a few weeks after birth they're eligible to be hunted. Hunters cause a lot of suffering to these seals when they kill them, or sometimes they'll escape and drown miserably. Often these hunters also skin them while they're still conscious which is absolutely inhumane and unacceptable.
This is something that future generations will look back upon and be disgusted at. Let's change history today and give these babies a shot at a happy and safe life. I've included 2 petitions below, but there are various other resources and activist groups I've compiled a list at

2023.04.02 10:48 Fegelschwein Wireguard not sending DNS requests
Hi all
I've used the Wireguard add-on for Home Assistant. Everything seems to work. I can ping in my local network, ping DNS and ping WAN.However, the tunnel does not resolve any DNS requests.
The config in Home Assistant:
Server
host: xx.yy.nn addresses: - 172.27.66.1 dns: - 192.168.1.1 - 1.1.1.1
Client
- name: XXYY addresses: - 172.27.66.2 allowed_ips: [] client_allowed_ips: []
The config in the files
[Interface] PrivateKey = xx Address = 172.27.66.2/24 DNS = 192.168.1.1, 1.1.1.1 [Peer] PublicKey = xx Endpoint = xx.yy.nn:1434 AllowedIPs = 0.0.0.0/0 PersistentKeepalive = 25
The log says this when I restart the deamon
s6-rc: info: service legacy-services successfully started [#] ip link add wg0 type wireguard [#] wg setconf wg0 /dev/fd/63 [#] ip -4 address add 172.27.66.1/24 dev wg0 [#] ip link set mtu 1420 up dev wg0 [#] resolvconf -a wg0 -m 0 -x [#] iptables -A FORWARD -i wg0 -j ACCEPT; iptables -A FORWARD -o wg0 -j ACCEPT; iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE
What I found a bit strange in the logs is the listening port. I've set it to 1434 but it keeps logging 51820
[10:54:23] INFO: Requesting current status from WireGuard... interface: wg0 public key: xxx private key: (hidden) listening port: 51820 peer: xxx allowed ips: 172.27.66.2/32 persistent keepalive: every 25 seconds
What am I missing? The connection did work on PiVPN.

2023.04.02 10:46 mango_l0k0 Think about my wife breaks my heart.
She is the kind of woman who is naturally kind, calm, and deeply empathetic, yet so full of life and sometimes goofy and silly. Kids love her, and so do animals. She always tries to help others and feels genuinely bad when she can't for any reason. She easily sheds tears, even when watching cute or wholesome videos. My wife works hard to understand and put herself in other people's shoes. Every time I think about it, my heart breaks.
Life hasn't been easy for her. She comes from a broken household where her addicted father would beat her mother on a daily basis. From a very young age she not only learned to defend herself but also her younger sister and mother. She has witnessed things that are beyond my imagination, and it hurts me to know that I can never truly understand how much she has suffered (and still suffers). She is scared of loud noises, and it breaks my heart to see this beautiful woman shaking from head to toe when something heavy falls close to her or when I slam the door. Once, when I got angry and screamed, she just sat down, shaking, tears rolling down her emotionless face, looking into my eyes. It's just too hard to watch, and it breaks me.

2023.04.02 10:44 ThoughtfulWanderer About to quit a job I just got because I was getting harassed and targeted.
I just started a new job (call center) but I'm very tech savvy and my voice is nice and confident. I decided to be ambitious and be very interactive so I can learn much and appear as though I'm a nice person and easy to get a long with.
Lately during roleplaying calls I would raise my hand to participate and the trainer would call on me. I'd start get maybe a minute or two into the roleplay and she'd end the call and say next.. then the trainer pulls me out of the room to speak to me because I messed up uploading some documents for company approval this is during training classes by the way.
Now rumors are going around ostracizing me and hurt my feelings. It's not worth it 😢 and I just got a job offer to start the 17 of April.

2023.04.02 10:40 Tasha_Clement What are the reasons for the AC repair?
There are several reasons why you may need AC repair. Here are some of the most common reasons:
Refrigerant leak: Low refrigerant levels can cause your AC unit to stop working efficiently or not work at all. A technician will need to find and fix the leak and recharge the system with the appropriate amount of refrigerant.
Dirty or clogged air filters: Air filters that are dirty or clogged can cause your AC unit to work harder, leading to reduced efficiency, higher energy bills, and potential breakdowns.
Electrical issues: Faulty wiring, blown fuses, or tripped breakers can cause your AC unit to stop working or run inefficiently.
Faulty compressor: The compressor is the heart of your AC unit and is responsible for cooling the air. A faulty compressor can cause your AC unit to stop working or not cool properly.
Thermostat issues: Malfunctioning thermostats can cause your AC unit to turn on and off frequently or not cool your home to the desired temperature.
Dirty condenser coils: Dirty condenser coils can cause your AC unit to work harder, leading to reduced efficiency and potential breakdowns.
Fan problems: Faulty fans can cause your AC unit to not circulate air properly, leading to poor cooling performance or potential breakdowns.
These are just a few of the reasons why you may need AC repair. It is important to have your AC unit inspected and repaired by a qualified technician to ensure that it is working safely and efficiently.

2023.04.02 10:36 Adept-Ideal2211 AITA for planning to move to the other side of the country for university?
Obligatory throw away acc bc my dad uses reddit
This whole situation is incredibly complicated but I'll try to keep it as short as possible.
I (M17) am set to graduate highschool in April and because of it I've been applying to different unis. I applied to one that's on the other side of the country and absolutely fell in love with the place. Of all 5 courses I applied to, I only got into 2. One is at my dream school and the other is one that's more local. The local one isn't a bad school or anything, I just don't want to go there.
This is where the issue lies: If I go to the one that's further away, I'll need to move there. And it's about 6 grand per year for the accommodations. My parents (M39 and F40) keep trying to convince me it's a bad idea and too expensive. We aren't rich or anything, but between loans and savings and my job, I can definitely make it work. My parents and I have always had a strained relationship, both were neglectful and unsupportive when I came out as gay at 14. Being around each other is pretty miserable, and honestly I've been looking for an out for a while now. (I can shed more info on my home light if people need it, I just wanna try be as anonymous as possible)
Going across the country seems like the perfect opportunity to start my life fresh.
So reddit, AITA?
TL:DR I (17m) plan on leaving my entire life behind for university against my parents wishes

2023.04.02 10:33 nyambers This is one of my worst experiences caving
At this time I was no experienced caver and this was one of my first more advanced caves. it was just me and some friends Jan, and Tom. Jan was one of those stereotypical hippies, blonde hair, colorful jacket, one of those nose piercings that make it look like you have little tusks and face covered in freckles. Tom was about 24 at the time he was the reason we were here. He had a tall frame skinny perfect for caving short brown hair and acne covering his face.
After we arrived and had some lunch it was burgers which where your basic camping burgers nothing special. Soggy tomatoes, old buns from someone's pantry, and meat just dry enough to be hard to chew.
We had then entered the cave about an hour later. We brought a long wire about 500 meters long for internet connection. We needed this to live stream the cave and call 911 incase of emergency. As we entered I had gotten a sudden cold chill unbeknownst to me at the time but it was due to what was inside the cave. Gotten deeper when I had felt that same feeling it wasn't just me though I could see Jan was nervous too. She stopped for a short time but quickly went back to normal.
As we got deeper we took a break in an opening. It was cold and damp crawling with spiders We had a couple of energy bars. After I barely managed to take a bite out of mine the was a loud bang deeper in cave. We had brushed it of as a falling rock. But we should have left after hearing that sound because once we got deeper in the cave we would be past the point of no return.
But we carried on we got to a tight squeeze. I was first to go as I got in I could feel the pressure on my chest. I had to go feet first due to it being a vertical drop. But as descended I felt something brush my foot. I yelped out in fear. Tom asked if I was okay. As I told him what happened I could feel that cold feeling again this time more intense but it quickly went away. We knew something was off but for some stupid reason we kept going
When we got deeper we heard that bang multiple more times the last few times they where more like screeches. At this time we had dropped the camera we were live streaming with. We kept going even though our bodies told us no it was like we were forced to.we got to another tight squeeze this time Jan went first. but this time it wasn't as simple as just dropping down. This time something was forcing us to go faster and so we did with no regard for our lives. We kept going deeper and deeper until we met a large opening. I had large gouges in my legs and arms. So did Jan and to. We looked around in the opening.
This opening was larger than anything we had ever seen. It was the size for a mansion it even look like something was living here. It was terrifyingly dark, cold, and damp.We heard that banging again this time louder then ever and longer than ever. I had felt that shiver again we all did.
As we approached the source of the screech we could hear breathing. And when we approached we could see it standing there. It was large looked rotten skin hanging from its rib cage. Its large head had horns those of a ram. It legs were non existent they were clear barely visible in the dim light of our flash lights.
Then the loud yell happens again for the last time. The monster picked up Tom ripping him in half covering me and Jan in his blood, guts, and organs. This breaks me out of my trance I can finally move for myself and I do. I bleat off limping to the rest of the cave searching for a hiding spot.
I turn a corner in this maze like cave and I find I crawl space. As I hide I can hear Jan's bones being destroyed in the mouth of the beast.
The monster walked searching for me and I fear that I might not have much time left so as I type this my final message. I will leave this cav...
