The first patch for Kerbal Space Program 2 has landed, and it is filled with "approximately 300" changes. This update follows a rocky launch for KSP2, which saw a steep fall in player numbers soon after its release, with many asking for refunds. Creative director Nate Simpson stated the KSP2 team has implemented "a lot of big improvements" with this update, including a fix for the bug that saw environmental objects "[spawning] on top of the active vessel" (something that would cause the Kerbal Space Center to move). Vision AI is set to take a leap forward with new Metropolis framework capabilities from Nvidia. This application development framework focuses on microservices, as well as a suite of cloud-native workflows that empower users to build more efficient vision AI models.
Announced at this week’s Nvidia GTC 2023, Metropolis is joined by new versions of the company’s TAO Toolkit 5.0, which enables the creation of highly customized AI models, as well as the expansion of the Nvidia DeepStream data pipeline builder for vision AI applications and services.
Nvidia said that more than 1,000 companies seeking to create vision AI applications are presently utilizing the Metropolis developer tools to address operational challenges, sensor processing and IoT with vision AI.

Enhanced workflow for industrial AI ecosystem

Nvidia presented the GTC community with significant expansions of Metropolis workflows aimed at placing greater AI capabilities and research within the reach of more developers. These expansions comprise the Nvidia TAO Toolkit, Metropolis microservices, and DeepStream SDK, as well as the Nvidia Isaac Sim synthetic data generation tool and robotics simulation applications.

Nvidia representatives said TAO 5.0 seeks to democratize cutting-edge vision AI capabilities, empowering individuals and businesses with advanced image processing and analysis tools.
“All major infrastructure will become a robot, as Nvidia Metropolis helps automate the world’s most valuable physical processes and infrastructure,” Adam Scraba, director of product marketing at Nvidia, said during a GTC pre-briefing.
With no-code accessibility to state-of-the-art vision AI models, Metropolis users can integrate AI-based workflows into their training methods, leveraging the capabilities of TAO 5.0 and Issac Sim.

PepsiCo employs digital twins

These workflows can be trained and subsequently deployed on any device utilizing CPU, GPU, MCU or DLA using the TAO 5.0 ONNX export service. In addition, Nvidia’s reference applications help users create fine-tuned workflows, generating AI-enhanced API calls for computer vision integrations.
Convenience food and beverage industry titan PepsiCo is already leveraging the capabilities of Nvidia Metropolis to streamline its operations. The company has successfully developed AI-driven digital twins for its distribution centers, employing the Nvidia Omniverse platform to visualize different setups within its facilities and determine their impact on operational efficiency before implementation in real-world scenarios.
Likewise, Siemens, a prominent digitalization and industrial automation enterprise, has inculcated Nvidia Metropolis to achieve next-level perception within its edge-based applications. By utilizing millions of sensors distributed across its factories, Siemens connected fleets of IoT devices and robots via the Metropolis ecosystem, ultimately integrating AI into its industrial computer vision workflow.

Empowering computer vision with low-code

The Nvidia TAO Toolkit is a low-code AI framework that supercharges vision AI model development for practically any developer, in any service, on any device. TAO 5.0 has new features, including vision transformer pretrained AI models. This provides the ability to deploy models on any platform with standard ONNX export, automatic hyperparameter tuning with automated machine learning (AutoML), and AI-assisted data annotation.
“TAO doesn’t generate any code but supports “bring your own model,” where developers can import their custom model architectures and perform training, fine-tuning and optimization,” said Scraba.
TAO 5.0 now supports vision transformers for computer vision models and has been made open-source for developers. Through REST APIs, developers can integrate TAO into any AI service. In addition, the service’s AutoML feature also automates hyperparameter tuning for AI models and has been integrated into services such as Google Vertex AI, AzureML, Azure Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.

Empowering IoT and edge use cases

Embedded microcontrollers firm STMicroelectronics, has integrated TAO into its STM32Cube AI developer workflow, which enabled the company to run sophisticated AI in widespread IoT and edge use cases that STM32 microcontrollers power within their compute and memory budget.
“We are excited to integrate TAO into our STM32 development workflow,” said Matthieu Durnerin, head of STM32 Cube.AI tools at STMicroelectronics. “Bringing the latest AI training tools to developers who have already developed over 11 billion STM32 MCUs will have a major impact on IoT and edge computing.”
The Nvidia DeepStream SDK is a key tool for developers looking to create vision AI applications across a spectrum of industries. The latest update in Nvidia DeepStream SDK is a new graph execution runtime (GXF) that allows developers to expand beyond the open-source GStreamer multimedia framework. DeepStream’s GXF allows users to build applications that require tight execution control, enabling advanced scheduling and critical thread management.

Perception Is a vision thing

Adding perception to physical spaces often requires applying vision AI to numerous cameras covering multiple regions. For example, challenges in computer vision include monitoring the flow of packaged goods across a warehouse or analyzing individual customer flow across a large retail space. Metropolis Microservices aims to make these sophisticated vision AI tasks easier to integrate into users’ applications.
Metropolis microservices comprises a suite of cloud-native tools to build multi-camera tracking apps through computer vision, utilizing a matrix of sensors to generate a centralized common perception.
Leading IT services company Infosys is using Nvidia Metropolis to build vision AI applications. The Nvidia TAO low-code training framework and pretrained models helped Infosys reduce its AI training efforts.
“Metropolis enables us to deploy solutions faster and rapidly scale across stores and product lines while also getting much higher levels of accuracy than before,” said Balakrishnan DR, executive VP and head of AI and automation at Infosys.

• 3D Tetris was released in 1996 for the Virtual Boy in North America. In this puzzle game, developed by T&E Soft, a three-dimensional playing field is used as opposed to the traditional two dimensions used in other versions of Tetris. The game contains multiple different modes; "3-D Tetris", "Center-Fill" and "Puzzle", each having different gametypes. The player can choose multiple different levels for each of these modes, which change the speed at which the blocks fall, as well as choose three difficulty settings; easy, medium and hard.

PART 1 OF 2 This happened 8 years ago now when I (M16) was in highschool. Each concussion happened at on a seperate occasion.
The first happened when me and a few friends decided to wrestle at a community center where I used to live (Ontario, Canada). We decided on a tournament style where the winner will get a large pizza that all the losers pay for. The fights were a simple one on one, win by tap or an obvious overpowerment. We all circled the two main fighters and watched them wrestle until it was our turn. I had my eye on my first matchup, Z (M15), who was easily the skinniest and therefore the easiest to wrestle. Once it was our turn to fight, Z backed out, leaving me without a matchup. My round got skipped and it was agreed upon by the rest of the fighters that if I wanted to fight then I could skip to the next round.
Concussion #1 Fast forward to my next opponent, someone who thought was on my level due to a small difference in our age (Me 16 & my opponent, A being 17). I had the height on him by a bit but he easily weighed 10 or 15 pounds more than me. I knew that I had to end the fight fast as he might be stronger than me. The first thing I did was put him in The ol' reliable, a headlock. I positioned myself to one angle so that I could use all my power to thrust to the other side and throw us both on the ground. This amazing move should put him in a daze of confusion and that is when I should put him in some sort of submission hold until he taps out and I become the victor. I had the entire scenario in my head pictured in what looked like a That's So Raven glimpse into the future. Now time to execute this bodacious maneuver. I jolted from one side to the other and tried to throw him to the ground but he eliminated any thoughts of filling my stomach with any form of cheesy Italian cuisine with one simple maneuver: he took a step backwards. This move let him slip out of the headlock and left me to think about everything that led to this point while I fell in what felt like slow motion. I did not have any time to prepare for the fall other than tilting my head down so that I don't break my nose. I got the top of my forehead on the carpeted but still extremely hard ground. It hurt but I didn't feel anything weird until I got up and felt like vomitting. My vision had motion blur and it felt like I was looking through a tunnel because I lost my peripheral vision. I started reaching my arms out to grab anyone near me because the motion blur was affecting my depth perception. I was helped to sit out in a corner as I considered my life choices that led me here and how I took my regular vision for granted. We hid this from any adults that could possible get us in trouble but we did ask for help from some "cool" early 20s staff who we usually hung out with. They told me that I cannot sleep in a situation like this even though I was suddenly getting sleepy and they told me the possibility of more harm if I actually slept. I stayed awake due to fear of brain damage and "toughed it out" like my friends suggested I do.
Concussion #2 Now fast forward 6 months later. I am in grade 11 playing basketball with my friends when happen to trip on a crack in the cement floor that felt a lot bigger than it looked. I tried to brace my fall with my arms, but the pushups I always skipped came back to haunt me. I couldn't catch myself and I don't know whether it's the speed at which I fell or the fact that I couldn't even hold myself in a pushup form if my life depended on it. This led to me faceplanting the cement and my glasses which I had on the entire time smashing on impact (this miraculously did not cause me any harm in any way) and my face cutting open at the temple. Blood poured out like honey out of a bottle and my friends got me tissue paper to cover the bleeding. I was to distracted by the amount of bleeding to realize that I had a concussion. This time it was a similar feeling to the first time. I was ready. I remained calm, tried to stop the bleeding, and waited patiently for the ambulance to come. The EMTs confirmed that I showed symptoms of a concussion and I rode with them to the hospital. The doctor later confirmed that the cut on my head was on a weird angle and the stitching it might cuz issues once it heals so the bleeding was stopped and a bandage was placed over the gooey stuff they used to cover the wound.
Concussion #3 Fast forward to the next semester. It is Finals Week of my grade 11 year and we just finished one of our exams. We decided that since we have the rest of the school day off to prepare for our next exam, we have some time to play basketball. We have one "court". It looks similar to the place in the warehouse where they had that basketball episode in the office. This is the same court where I tripped and fell and recieved my concussion #2. {This year we went to the finals in the local high school basketball tournament and lost not because they were better, but because our starting five (including a 6 foot 5 kid that plays rep) got tired due to us playing multiple games back to back. This kid was 1 year younger than me but he fit into our friend group because all of his friends were our age as well.} I was chasing my tall friend who just grabbed the rebound but I got too close to him from behind and ended up tripping on one of his long freaky stick legs. This was unintentional from him as he couldn't have known that I was that close to him as he would've positioned himself differently. I still haven't improved in my workout routine so I still couldn't defend myself from gravity. Face_plant3.exe. My glasses spontaneously combusted upon impact and my face was led to the same fate as my previous encounter against this undefeated foe. I picked myself off the ground and looked down as I saw my poorly rendered reflection in a small pool of blood where I just got up from. I positioned myself to sit against a wall as the adrenaline basically made the pain non-existent as I sat there angry at myself for getting in a situation like this for the second time within a year. I was rushed by teachers and students who helped me stop the bleeding as they called 911. It was then that I started to notice the effects of my concussion. Everything from the tunnelling vision to the nausea. However, there was one issue that worried me. The tunneling vision exceeded my peripherals and slowly covered my full vision with darkness. I looked around at the places where I knew the lights were positioned to see if I noticed anything but I couldn't see them. I remembered to stay calm and asked my teacher who was helping me if the lights were still on. He didn't answer immediately. He then said "What do you mean? Of course they are. What?" Once he confirmed what I suspected, my calm mind reminded me of Daredevil on Netflix in the scene when he lost his sight. I thought the super hearing or super senses might kick in but it was just regular senses minus sight. I prepared for the worst and I just thought about all the things I could no longer enjoy in life. My VR headset. Gaming. TV. Oh god, Anime? Reality started to kick in around 10 min later when I was waiting for the ambulance to arrive. Eventually I started to see some light from one eye and then the next. It started with light, then blurry colors. Then shapes. Then a few hours later my sight was back to normal. Part 2 is about losing my ability to sleep some weeks later because of my head injuries
TL;DR - Got 3 different concussions with one leading to temporary blindness.

Seeing pictures I’m sure will help familiarize many planning on taking a trip or those that have fears of using the rail if it’s something new to you. Also I use the words train/metro/rail/subway rather interchangeably.
First off I’ll be using Google Maps for these, but the in-person principles for most apply the same on any other platform.

When you start the route the first thing you need to figure out is where to enter.
Tip: The best way to do that is zoom into the starting point and sometimes Google will pinpoint where to enter a specific entrance.
In my picture you can see it tells me to enter also in the description via the Meiji-dori Ave exit which despite the wording can be used to enter and exit.

Where you enter sometimes doesn’t matter as long as it contains the correct metro line you need. Which in my case I need the Ginza Line at Shibuya station. You will often find a good amount of signs at Tokyo stations telling you which metro lines are available in them.

There you can buy a ticket to enter, but understand and I’ve only used this method once after landing in the airport. Is that you have to select the fare amount to in a sense “deposit” into this train ticket. As once you exit later is when the actual cost is accounted for.
Tip: Realistically most new people don’t know how to calculate this, so I recommend scrolling down on Google Maps for your route and it should tell you the actual total fare amount. Once you buy the ticket you can use it to go through the gate.
Note: I believe they only accept cash at least that is how it was for me at Haneda Airport

The better option and is why I don’t know too much about the above method is simply using a Suica/Pasmo. I won’t go into them too much since they’re already covered pretty extensively in other threads, probably the FAQ too.
Note: There’s a problem with Visa cards sometimes for using it with Apple Wallet. I had trouble using my Visas, so I recommend adding a Mastercard or Amex to your Apple wallet before your trip. Which I fortunately added a dozen or so of my cards beforehand in case.
There’s also the JR Pass which operates similar to the ticket, but is unlimited for certain amount of days on JR Line rails. Again also covered extensively, so won’t go over that too.
Use the ticket by inserting it and make sure to grab it before leaving. Or use your Suica/Pasmo to get through the gate by tapping it on the giant part that has an “IC” on it.

Once in the station make your way to the train platforms by following the signs that tell you which direction to go for your specific metro line, which for me was the Ginza Line. I have more example pictures of the signs in the second part.
When you are finally at the train platform area usually there are two platforms, one on each side or more depending on the station. On the Google Maps image previously you can see it tells me to go to Platform 1/2 which means I can embark on either platform options.

Make sure you are at the correct platform as some are separated and if the train comes and you’re at the wrong platform. You probably won’t have the time to get to the correct one and board the train.
Tip: The best way to make sure is look at the signs above. They will have the platform number along with other useful information such as which metro line is associated for the specific platform. For some more modern ones that have digital sign boards they contain the incoming trains for the platforms with their intended direction and time.

Note: You can see there are different kind of trains from rapid, express, and local. On Google Maps it mentions which kind it is, so make sure you get on the right one as the non-local trains will skip stops.
Once the train arrives there will be digital displays on the side of the train carts mentioning which direction / ending stop the train is heading for. Make sure it matches what Google Map for your route since a number of other trains will likely stop by too.

On newer trains I’ve been on such as the Ginza Line they have big and detailed displays giving a ton of information of further stops. Some older trains will have a more pixelated singular line information display center.
Tip: The lines and station stops have specific circular logos. For Ginza Line you can see it’s a “G” inside an orange circle with the numbers representing the numbered station. On Google Maps it says to get off at G12 which I find these more straightforward than remembering the station.

Each stop it also displays which train cart you are in and where in the station are the exits for escalators, elevators, and restrooms. I don’t really pay attention to those parts since the crowd will more or less flow a certain way. Along with on the display are which doors will open.

If you were using the ticket method and end up with a higher fare than you originally put on the ticket then you will need to do an adjustment at the machine.

Part 2
At this point you successfully have used the rail to get where you want. However, if your trip is further with other trains then this will go into transferring to the next train which is simple.
When you get off the train you want to look at Google Maps to see which the next metro line you will need to go towards. I don’t bother with the Google Map walking directions for this part since there are a ton of signs directing you where to go.

There are multiple different signs directing you to the metro line platform every few steps including ones on the pillars, walls, and overhead signs. Simply follow the direction the arrows are pointing towards.

For my train Google Map says I will need to Rapid train at Platform 3 that will transition to a different train while staying on board even after the last stop.

Here it is best to confirm again, you are at the correct platform through the signs around you. Pay attention to the direction of which the station number it goes toward as T10 to T01 would not be what I wanted as that would be going backwards. In addition there are also mentions of which direction the train is going through signs on the wall.

That ends it since the transfer is basically the same thing just longer. Hopefully you learned enough that you can read the Google Maps route info to see what is important. Things to focus on such as the intended ending stop that determines the direction, the station number icon, local/rapid/express, and mainly which platform you need to be at.

Additional Items

• Things to be aware of such as train etiquette is recommended to follow. I noticed most trains are extremely quiet, many don’t talk and if they do it is at a low voice. Many commuters are usually on their phones or some are even napping or sleeping. So it would be recommended to be quiet to not bother others. In that same vein I would say people don’t eat or drink on the train either besides the bullet trains.
• People on the escalators stand on the left and walk/move on the right. If you plan to stand on the escalator while it moves stay on the left
• In many of the pictures you will see it shows the train cart number at the gate. Google Maps suggest certain carts to get on that might be less busy or easier to disembark. I don’t bother myself, but might be useful for others.
• Masks are generally from what I hear from Japanese people pretty recommended for wearing on the train since it’s an enclosed space near others.
• Trains generally get very crowded especially during certain hours or days, so if you plan on taking luggage with you regularly on the train it might be too cramped to do. Noted while still doable, might be rather uncomfortable to do. Though generally most do, but it’s often small suitcases if you got a massive one it might be better to do luggage forwarding through TAQ-Q-BIN.
• There are elevators often to get up to ground level. The overhead signs usually will point out where they are, but it can still be a hassle to find them.
• Goes without saying, but if you see an elderly person that looks like if they fall, they will die. You should give up your seat for them.
• Most stations have some kind of gate attendant there that can help if you have issues getting through the gate through some error or something.
• If you enter and exit the same gate it won't charge anything though sometimes errors out and you have the get the gate attendant to fix it for you.
• They are safe with tons of officers and attendants I notice just walking around or standing by.
• So far all of the ones I’ve been on have great A/C and heating.
• Most trains aren’t doing wild turns and what not that I noticed many regulars will just stand there and not hold onto anything.
• At least in Tokyo there are so many trains going the same way that if you miss your stop or train, or get on the wrong train, there will likely be another one in a few minutes so I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
• You can search on google maps the Metro Line to see all of its complete route and stops

It's been a hard week, Guardians.
First, Lance Reddick, our beloved Zavala, passes, suddenly, to the awe of everyone, certainly most importantly of all his family.
And now, our beloved Shipwright, someone we have grown alongside for a decade, is gone. The timing, fitting, in the most unfitting of ways, it seems.
I know, some will say the two aren't comparable. And, the truth is, they aren't.
...but the grief is heavy, right now. The loss weighs in on our minds, and our hearts. I can't help but feel...emptier...this week. It's made me think of a lot of things. People I've lost. People others have lost. The void that they must feel.
And, for many of us, those thoughts can bring with them feelings of guilt.
"Why am I upset? This person's family - whoever that person may be, in your life - is torn apart. Why am I hurt? Do I have a right to be?"
It took me years to learn, that yes, you do.
While it's true that those with less kindred hearts may take advantage of such a situation, I believe experiencing loss to be one universal thing, shared by us all. Every single one of us, if prompted, can pick out a figure, whether familial, a significant other, someone from a worthwhile friendship, or even someone you simply respected from afar for who they were - like what Lance Reddick meant to so many of us - the void that is there, is shared between all of us. You can't possess grief, you cannot take it away from someone else. Nor, can you make someone else feel it.
Everyone grieves in their own way, and for people or things that some of us may not understand. Connections made in one life, out of billions, and although those connections mightn't matter to you, it is vital, nonetheless, to revere them, with the hope that that same reverence is showered upon you, when you experience a grievous loss of your own. We spend our lives with people, animals, hell, even ideas, and we fall in love with them, in a myriad of different ways. They become hallmarks to our lives, some even altering the course of them.
Our lives are not lived alone, but they are lived within these connections we form over years upon years, some of which will come and go, and others which begin in a blink, and after, thirty years have passed like a breath of wind. And, inevitably, all these connections will sever, for all of us. Some, decaying over time, but others, ceasing immediately, with no warning. It is so easy for such a thing to break someone, even the most stoic of us. And some of us are fortunate enough to have a good, solid, strong support system, to be able to speak about these losses, to talk about the joy that they brought us and how, for a little while, we were better than ourselves, and to just...share...these memories with.
But...some of us are not. Some of us can't talk to anyone. Sometimes because we're scared to. Sometimes because we don't know how someone will react to how we feel about something that they might not feel the same way about. Sometimes, there is just nobody there to listen.
Loss is indifferent. Grief is indifferent. And, sometimes, we forget that. There are so many nets to get caught in, that it's easy to forget how the ocean feels against our skin. There are so many clouds, that sometimes we lose our way, and forget to just glide. There's so much noise, that sometimes we forget to seek silence. And it's only in silence, that you recognize another's grief.
I think it's safe to say, we are all hurting right now. And, many of us may not know what to do. With ourselves. With one another.
But I think Mara Sov says it best.
"...while it does not lighten the burden, let us hold this pain, together. And when you lift your eyes, may you look only upon kind faces."
Take care of yourselves, Guardians. And try your hardest to take care of others, as well. To be kind faces, so that someone - tears in their eyes - might look upon you, and find their smile, again.

I'm 32 years old and just need to vent a bit. And am even wondering if this should be on
I've started talking to someone online. And have been for about 5 days now. They're definitely interesting and I am attracted to them. But I feel I'm struggling to build chemistry and a connection. And I am worried.
Some mistakes I've made:
1) Front loading a lot of supportive / kinda-lovey stuff. I don't really know how to explain it without sharing some of the things said. But a friend of mine said I front loaded a lot in the first couple of days.
2) Talking to much. I just... I'm working on this one. But I am slightly introverted an fall into a bad habit of talking about the things I'm passionate about.
3) And am unsure of my responses at times. We've talked a lot about our future dreams and goals. She's even brought up starting her own business and franchise. As well as a lot of personal stuff. But... IDK it feels like I'm struggling to build attraction or any common ground over text messages.
And yet none of these are deal breakers for me. If anything it makes her more interesting. There are some things that will be challenging.
1) If this became serious it would be a long distance relationship. She lives in the center of the U.S. near the Mississippi
2) She's 1 years older than me. Not an issue, I honestly don't mind.
3) She makes a lot more money than I do. A 'LOT'.
Where I'm struggling with myself:
1) I'm a contract worker. Admittedly it's with a descent company. But I don't have some of the luxuries my contemporaries have
2) I'm out of shape. But working on it. Running helps a lot.
3) I'm insecure about my responses. I've been out of the game and am out of practice. And have not been dating, etc. since before the pandemic.
4) My savings account is pathetic :( And this is something I've long since regretted. I have RothIRA and a small amount of savings. And that's about it (couple thousand). This has been a source of insecurity for me
5) I haven't dated much. A bad combination of an introverted nature, a few bad experiences, and (ironically) putting work before a social life.
I guess.... there's a lot of unknowns. And I am definitely feeling a lot of rust and a lot of inexperience. Life has been somewhat kind to me, and allowed me to be complacent. Talking to her however has reminded me why complacency is a killer. And it has reinvigorated me to pursue some of my passions... is that fair to say?
I would say the only issue is that I'm trying to have fun, but I am sometimes unsure how to respond to her questions and comments. Hopefully I'll get somewhat competent at this...
At the end of the day I'm frustrated by my complacency. And I'm reminded of the story of the man who waited his entire life for the right one to come along. When they did, he wasn't prepared. I'm not trying to imply they're the right one (we haven't even physically met yet). But that feels like me right now.

I have been in a car accident where a car rear ended me which caused me to hit a car in front of me. I have been in contact with the insurance company and they said they will reimburse me for the damages. The police report I got is for a car that rear ended me and was missing the front end damage. When I took the car for an estimate at the collision center, the estimate had front end damage which the insurance said they wouldn’t pay because the police report didn’t include that. I have since talked to the police station and they mended the report including the front end damage. I have contacted the insurance company for the updated report that included the front end damage, they are now refusing to reimburse me for any of the damages, stating that my statement to them and the police report don’t match. I live in Florida. the small claims court has a maximum dollar value of $8000 and my estimated initial damage is $11,500. Any advice on how to handle the situation.

Hello! This was supposed to be a series of videos, each discussing Ninjago media but I ran into technical difficulties and I was forced to make this as massive posts. I'm using the script I wrote for the videos so sorry if the wording seems a bit weird. I've changed it as much as I can. This segment was written on the spot. This post will discuss the pilots. So without further ado, let's dive into this. The pilots were released on 14th January 2011 and are the first official part of the Ninjago canon. They consist of two 22-minute episodes or four 11-minute episodes depending on where you view it. Most people have seen it as 2 episodes tho including me so I'll be talking with that configuration in mind. The first pilot is called "Way of the Ninja". This is basically the foundation of the show. The first shot we get is a beautiful landscape with a blacksmith shop at sight and an old man, who we will soon find out is Wu, walking towards it. Then we meet our main protagonist for the pilots, Kai - a young boy with a fiery temper and a desire to be the best at everything. We see his impatience when he pulls the sword out the fire the wrong way and it doesn't turn out straight. Then we meet the catalyst for Kai's journey as a ninja- his younger sister Nya. At first glance we can see she is much more patient and even tho she is younger, she's much more mature than him. Through the dialogue we find out that their parents are gone or presumed dead but that is later to be discussed. After the revelation of this fact we can imagine they lived on their own their entire lives. And now we see the old man approaching. The viewers witness a short brawl with words between Kai and the elder. Kai's hot-headedness is at full display in the next couple of scenes when the main antagonist of the pilots is revealed through dialogue. The sky goes dark as the Skullkin approach with their skeleton-themed vehicles. Then we meet 3 of the Skullkin, Kruncha and Nuckal, the comic reliefs, and Samukai - the general. As Kai gets ready to fight he warns his sister to stay back, showing his protective nature towards the people he loves. After a short fight tho, Nya joins the battle. Unfortunately she soon gets kidnapped by the skeletons. Wu saves Kai. Then we get this confrontation between the two contrasting personalities. Kai, angry and ready to fight wants to follow the enemies and save Nya but the wise old man who reveals himself as Sensei Wu tells him that he stands no chance and he can't follow them into the place they live in, the Underworld. So he invites Kai to become his pupil. Kai accepts with the intention of saving his sister. And so his hero journey begins. We get the iconic "Long before time had a name" monologue in which we find out Wu is the FSM's younger son and his older brother, Garmadon was corrupted. He is the one who ordered the kidnapping of Nya. We get a fun little training montage with all of Kai's failures but as times goes on he studies all the difficulties in the course and soon masters them. This shows his adaptability to new situations. Kai is impatient to learn Spinjitzu so he can fight off the Skullkin and asks when is he going to learn it but Wu isn't impressed and leaves his question hanging. The next scene is in the evening. Kai is getting ready for bed when he gets attacked by mysterious men in black. After a brief fight between them Sensei Wu stops them and reveals that those are his other pupils. Then we witness the iconic scene of Wu using Spinjitzu to give the ninja their signature colours. The trio of ninja change their gi from black to their respective colour and Kai gets his own gi in firehouse red. Then we get introduced to the new characters. Jay, the one in blue, master of lightning, with a sense of humor and loves dabbling in cooking and model building. Cole, the black ninja and master of earth. He is the rock foundation of the team and the natural leader. And Zane, the white ninja, master of ice with untouched potential. Wu tells them about the four golden weapons and how each of them has to retrieve one of them. So they go for the Scythe of Quakes first. On the way the ninja chat about how each met Wu. Jay met him on top of a building, drinking tea and Jay crashed into him while testing his mechanical wings. Cole met him on top of a mountain he climbed. Zane met him meditating on the bottom of a frozen lake. Soon the team has arrived in front of the place where the Scythe of Quakes is kept safe. There are Skullkin all around the place. Wu tells them that when they get the weapon they mustn't use it. Meanwhile Kai runs off first. The others follow him and Cole says that he shouldn't run off like that or he'll blow their cover. They enter a cave where the scythe is but they bump right into Samukai. Then a battle unfolds as Jay realises that the way to unlocking Spinjitzu is just repeating the training course. Everyone unlocks Spinjitzu and the Skullkin escape. The team's celebration is short-lived when the guardian of the scythe shows up- a giant earth dragon. Quickly, Kai grabs the scythe and uses it, thus ignoring Wu's prohibition. As the ninja escape through a hole in the mountain, Wu greets them and scolds Kai for using the scythe against his words. This sets up Kai's arc about learning that not everything centers around him and he must let others help him. Samukai explains the situation to Garmadon. We don't see him, we only hear his menacing voice which amplifies his presence. The mere fact that we don't know how he looks and what to expect from him makes him more threatening. This is how the episode ends. Episode 2 is called King of Shadows. The episode starts with a ship sailing between two icebergs. The ninja are on the ship and they are traveling to the place where the Shurikens of Ice are kept. Then we get a montage where the ninja obtain the shurikens and the Nunchucks of Lightning. The next scene is the ninja having a break and dancing to some music. Then they go to sleep. But Kai sees Nya in the woods and he runs after her. Suddenly he is in front of the Fire Temple. He follows Nya in the building only to find her tied with chains above lava. Without thinking Kai jumped ahead and obtained the Sword of Fire from the pedestal and freed his sister. But then the unthinkable happens, Lord Garmadon himself shows up in his giant shadowy form. He transforms himself into Kai's shadow and beats up Kai pretty easily. But then Sensei Wu appears and fights the shadows. He takes the sword and falls with it down in the volcano of the temple to prevent Garmadon from getting it. Meanwhile, the Skullkin steal the rest of the Golden Weapons while the ninja are sleeping. They wake up and go after them but fail to retrieve the weapons. Turns out that the volcano that Wu fell in actually leads to the Underworld. When the ninja get to the temple they are greeted by Kai and Nya riding the fire dragon. Jay falls for her. Kai tells everyone that they need to befriend the dragons because they are the only creatures who can travel to the Underworld. The next shot is the ninja riding the dragons as they open a portal to the Underworld. They go through various different tunnels until they reach a massive cave with a skeleton base guarded by it's inhabitants. There are giant spiders everywhere. The ninja get quickly spotted and they attempt to form the Tornado of Creation successfully. With it they create a skeleton-themed ferris wheel with all the Skullkin trapped inside. The heroes move forward. Inside the base they find Wu fighting Samukai with the Sword of Fire while Samukai wields the rest of the weapons. Samukai obtains the 4 weapons and we see Garmadon for the first time in physical form. He doesn't seem worried about Samukai gaining the powerful objects tho. He's actually planned it all along. As Samukai spins with the four weapons he dissolves into dust. No one can handle all the power of the weapons at once. But after the general a portal opens and Garmadon enters it claiming he will return more powerful. The team is left with the weapons. In the next scene the ninja are back at the blacksmith shop celebrating temporary victory. Kai promises the villagers that they will be ready when Garmadon comes back. And we finish the pilots with the full team shot. This was so so long and I'm sorry for that but congratulations if you read through it all! Idk when I'll make the next post about S1 but seeing how 2 episodes took me so much time to write about, I'll try to shorten the post more or I'll be making a whole novel just for one season. I just wanted to take my time on the pilots, the next posts will discuss only the highlights. Anyways, have a nice day and till the next post!

Lore wise it is always smarter to go with JoJa. The problem is JoJa is megacorp that owns businesses and land in pretty much every city. The idea that you actually overthrew them by building a community center is comical at best. The reality is that eventually, they would be back. And now their takeover would be less by choice because stardew fought them off before.
Now let's say they don't come back. Then over time, stardew is going to continue to fall behind in society. They aren't going to have the funding provided to them or the attraction to truly bring in new people as the older ones die off. You can see this happen in the real world where small towns slowly die because the younger generations move off to the city to find jobs and lives. We already see this in stardew where chars like Sebastian are thinking of leaving the valley. Unless you can continue to bring new people into the valley, it is likely it will continue to fall into disrepair.

JoJa was not the best company but they did provide support and funding to the community. And unless the farmer is going to forever keep the valley in repair, then stardew is doomed. Because the mayor and all the people did nothing to fix the community on their own. They had no money or drive (which is why the town was in the state it was when you arrive). Joja was the only one keeping the town afloat.
I do not blame the farmer for kicking Joja out of the valley. The real bad guy here was Pierre for rallying against them and Lewis doing nothing to protect the valley. Now they have doomed the future of this quaint little town.
