I have 4 children ages 13.11.8 and 2. We live in England UK if that's of any relevance.
My 8 year old is my only boy and has adhd, odd and dyslexia. From the age of around 2/3 is when things became apparent in nursery that something wasn't quite right. For a long time I dismissed his behaviour as typical boisterous boy behaviour, my older two girls were never like him when they was younger rather the opposite. It wasn't until his teacher sat me down when he was 3 and had a chat with me that it clicked that he wasn't like other kids. Hes 8 now almost 9 and medicated for his adhd and weve peadatrican and others involved with him in his schooling etc. Its hard with him but I'm coping.
My question is.....now my 2 year old is in the same school nursery.....last week we had parents evening and they raised some concerns with her development and milestones. They want a meeting today to go through a report they've done and they want my permission and input on it being sent to the health visitor team. They are aware of my son as he's in the same school an they are aware. So now it's looking like my youngest may also have some issues and I'm just wondering how people manage with more than 1 special needs child? Things were tough when my son was little and we still have bad days and meltdowns with him even now and sleeps a issue still or lack of but I'm wondering how we're gunna cope as a family unit with 2 of them with needs. Im 1 person and do the majority of childcare myself. I have a supportive family nearby and my mum often takes my older two girls to stay the night at her house so they have some respite from their brother (he is loud. Can be aggressive when having a meltdown and destructive) their dad is not the most consistent or reliable so he's not really involved with them. He tries but he's not as...switched on or in tune to what our son needs. For example the parenting course and classes for parents with special needs kids....he never did he wouldnt read up or research anything about adhd or odd and would often just tell our son off for being naughty. Stop crying like a little girl etc. Obviously i did do all the courses and classes and im very involved in my sons additional care so im the primary parent for things that doctors and such phone in regards to him.
What differences are there in parenting a boy with adhd and a girl who may have similar issues as I know it can present differently in the genders..
The nursery have noted my 2 year old doesn't play with other kids, but rather alongside them in her own little world of play. She struggles interacting with other kids and doesn't enjoy or want to join in with group activities. She still tip toe walks too and is quite behind in her speech.
I'm sorry if this is a pile of word vomit but I'm just trying to reconcile with the though of possibly having 2 special needs kids and how to manage that. 1 is difficult enough on the best of days. After getting COVID in early November of last year, I developed long covid and have been struggling with a lot of symptoms regularly since then (chronic fatigue, dizziness, congestion, cough, brain fog) that are better or worse depending on how much of my energy I spend in a day. It has been really challenging to come to terms with everything I’ve been experiencing, because up until this point I was lucky enough to never had experienced any health issues whatsoever. I am 16, I go to an arts high school, and I am in musical theatre training there, hoping to pursue it post-graduation. Last year, around this time, I was in 5 theatre productions in only 1 semester, at rehearsals every single day, and with school was easily out of the house from 7:30am-10pm on weekdays, and 9am-6pm on weekends. I also took 5 dance classes a week. Right now, I am one production, and the rehearsals aren’t nearly as frequent or long as ones I have done for prior shows, but I find myself completely exhausted by the end of every day. I am also no longer taking dance outside of school. Because of developing long covid, I have missed a lot of school (if I miss 12 more days this year, I will not be allowed to participate in productions with my school next year due to poor attendance, which would be devastating to me, so I don’t really have a choice but to keep pushing myself), I am struggling in some of my classes, and the worst part to me is that I feel I am no longer capable of showing up as a performer and artist to the extent I was able to before I got sick. I feel tired at most rehearsals, my breath support is not as strong as it used to be, and I have a hard time giving everything I want to because I feel like my 100% effort is only 60% of my previous capabilities on a good day. For a big production I was a part of from October to January that began before I was sick but ended afterwards, I was so unwell that I could not get myself to go to school, so for 5 weeks I only got out of bed to go to rehearsals, shower if I felt up to it, then get back in bed. I want to keep doing what I love to do, and it is really hard for me to not push my limits some days, and I hope I continue to improve symptom-wise but know that I need to rest to do that (which I don’t have a lot of time for until my productions wrap at the end of April). If anyone has any personal anecdotes or advice regarding coming to terms with what a new normal is for you, or support, it would be greatly appreciated. : )

What is your opinion of using the cash (~3% interest rates) to pay off some or all of this student loan? as I understand the interest rate on these are going to 7.3% in June. The only thing that is stopping me from using the cash is home improvements or a future house move (2+ years). I also could reduce my ISA contributions and instead use that to pay off the student loan.

I am 13 weeks and my sleep has been terrible the last few weeks. I can usually fall asleep fine but staying asleep and getting back to sleep after getting up to pee have been tough.
Twice in the past week I have experienced sleep paralysis. I have a history of this as a child and teenager but haven’t experienced it as an adult, however, I have experienced bad nightmares as a young adult and even went to therapy for them in college!
Last night I had gotten up to go to the bathroom and it took forever for me to even start dozing. My husband is out of town so I’m alone in the house. I had finally fallen asleep on my side (back facing the door and the rest of the bed) and I heard the bedroom door open and physically felt someone get into bed and lay behind me. I could hear them breathing. Of course, classic sleep paralysis, I couldn’t move or talk. Because I was still slightly awake, I knew it couldn’t be my husband because he’s gone. Luckily, I learned lucid dreaming in therapy many years ago and was able to recognize what was happening so I turned the dream around and beat the crap out of the guy until I could finally wake up and move again.

I am creating this thread to have a discussion and see what your feelings as a "s3 complete", "veteran" whatever the name you chose is about what you get from Second Dinner as a player compared to newer players or content creators. I will try to argue why this part of playerbase will always and forever be the most overlooked and why it makes sense for Second Dinner business-wise.
I think the first and most important thing to understand is that Second Dinner is still a company that needs to make money and this is normal and fine. I think a lot of people are tricked by the "frontend" of the always enthusiastic and smiling Ben Brode and some of the SD staff going to online shows to join on some fun. This will give you a feeling like "oh these are players like me, that love the game, of course they will make decisions that will make all of us enjoy the game more". While this all may be true and these people as individuals would probably be just happy to do that you have to realise they got some multi-million dollar investments from bigger companies to start off and they expect payouts. In todays world a lot of decisions are based on cold, hard data and so unless your dissatisfaction will be shown in their data/sales/income they wont change anything to please you.
Now why they change stuff more when new players and content creators are unhappy? For content creators its obvious - they are a free marketing for the company and if they cant show off the new cards to their audience they are effectively killing this.
But why newer players and not the "faithful" veterans? Well again, its simple, its because of the word "faithful" - we are much less likely to leave the game or spend less money becaues we are unhappy. As most of the predatory systems in this game (or most of the "free to play" mobile games and frankly for a lot of business generally) this abuses our psychological core. The term was coined for this called "sunken cost fallacy" which is described as follows:
"The phenomenon whereby a person is reluctant to abandon a strategy or course of action because they have invested heavily in it, even when it is clear that abandonment would be more beneficial."
This doesnt mean just money, but also for example time and effort.
This is why they also dont respond to the discord questions at all although they are the most upvoted BY FAR this past week - the discord community is made mostly out of veteran players who invested more into the game. Not responding also keeps you on the edge of your seat "they did it in the past, maybe they will do it again but dont want to say anything yet?". Although for most people this deafening silence is uncomfortable.
I dont want to push anyone to stop playing the game if they enjoy it, as I wont, but I think the education about psychological aspects of playing a "free to play" video game should be pushed a lot, especially with future generations coming in to the world of mobile games. Sunk cost fallacy is a very good starting point for a lot of us there and can help us to have less clouded and more realistic overview about what we are doing with our time and in some cases why are we unable to do stuff that makes us more happy.

My mother houses my siblings son. The neighborhood they live in is not particularly bad however my nephew has managed to find trouble. There is now a group of people who now want him dead.
Recently, my moms home got shot up pretty bad. Me and my siblings didn’t even find out until a day later didn’t make mention of it out of whatever mix of emotions she must have (fear, embarrassment, etc). We immediately packed her some bags and she’s been staying with my siblings since.
The thing is, we’ve never had a situation like this happen and have no idea how to move forward. Aside from calling the insurance about repairs, we don’t know what to do. My mom spent her whole life working and felt like she never had anything to show for it until her recent (within the last 5 years) home purchase. She does not want to leave and insists everything will be fine and die down. I’m not willing to bet a life on that. My nephew is able to move a decent ways away with his parent but these people KNOW WHERE SHE LIVES and I’m terrified at the idea of her staying in that house and someone coming to harm her.
Not sure how coherent this is because I panic typed it while at work but if any additional information will help with solutions just let me know. I didn’t want to be too detailed.
