My father (67) was always a very stubborn, irrational, short tempered person with anger management issues. He was very hard on me as a child (now M32) but always provided everything to raise me and take care of me and my mother.
For the past 15 years or so, he developed the habit of drinking 3 to 4 times a week, mostly a large amount of a weird cheap whiskey/beer mix and increased how much he smokes.
All his bad habits have increased since then and with age to the point where he’s become a very hard person to deal with. And on top of it all, he’s become frugal.
On top of that he developed an autoimmune disease for which he got treated and now on maintenance mode. But doing well overall.
His lifestyle and neglect for his own health and wellbeing has made my mother miserable miserable. We tried talking to him on many occasions and it resulted in nothing but getting into fights with him as he loses his temper and starts shouting at us that he knows how to take care of himself. We finally just gave up and decided to just let him be.
Ever since I moved out of the house, I decided that I wanted to distance myself from him so I can calm down and try to build some sort of relationship with him. But with time and as he got worse, I am finding it very hard to love my father and be kind to him, and I am always on edge with him.
The reasons for that are mainly because he is making my mother’s life miserable, and he’s harming himself while not taking into consideration that if he falls ill again coupled with his drinking and smoking it will be my mother and I who will have to take care of him.
I am not capable of fixing my relationship with him and fear regretting it at some point in my life.
Has anyone been through anything similar and do you have any advice on how to deal with the situation?

Suzume will be getting a full push for the next awards season by Crunchyroll, the distributor confirmed today. The film has already been a box office hit in several Asian markets and has grossed $182 million from just seven territories ahead of its U.S. release on April 14.
Box office recognition alone isn’t enough for a film to get awards season love, however. Suzume’s case is bolstered by a Berlin competition screening, the first for an anime film since 2002. Crunchyroll has proven to be a distribution powerhouse since being acquired by Sony in 2021. Suzume will be the first major test of the company’s ability to elevate a film to major awards recognition.
With the upcoming theatrical releases of Suzume and Hayao Miyazaki’s How do You Live?, 2023 is shaping up to be a banner year for prestige anime. It also looks like it could be a true passing of the torch moment, with Miyazaki’s final film potentially going head-to-head with Shinkai’s latest for awards consideration.
Along with the announcement of the film’s awards push, Crunchyroll also released a new English-language trailer featuring the recently announced dubbed voice cast.
Led by Nichole Sakura, Suzume’s voice lineup includes Josh Keaton, Jennifer Sun Bell, Joe Zieja, Rosalie Chang, Amanda C. Miller, Mela Lee, and Cam Clarke. Bill Millsap directed the English-language voice actors.
Other international theatrical rollouts are planned in the near future, with Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment teaming up to distribute the film in Latin America, Australia/New Zealand, the Middle East, and portions of Europe. The amount of people on here saying “we’re going down” and “see you in the championship” is worrying, especially when we have got better odds of staying up than Southampton, Forest, Bournemouth, Leicester, Everton and Leeds. (According to OPTA)
And because people are saying that it’s not about the current position it’s about games remaining I’d like to take you through our games and our competitors games
First of all our opponents all have at least a game in hand so I’ll start with that, moving up the table.
Southampton vs West Ham today, either Southampton get buried in last, and West Ham jump to 14th, or Southampton go to 18th and West Ham are in a lot of trouble.
Southampton have Manchester City, Palace, Arsenal, Newcastle, Fulham, Brighton and Liverpool. So I think we can safely say that unless they pull wins from all of their “easier” games they are going down.
West Ham have 2 more games in hand after this game, however that is not good news for West Ham, as they’re playing Newcastle, Liverpool and City as midweek games. I don’t see them getting more then a point from any of those fixtures.
West Ham also have Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Brentford in their last 9 games.
Leicester is a big one (Villa game in hand). Mostly because we are playing them on the 22nd. That will be a huge game for both teams because Leicester have a very tough few games ahead of them. Aston Villa is their game in hand. They have Man City, Fulham, Liverpool and Newcastle. West Ham on the last day will be an important game for them.
I believe Everton are royally fucked. They have to play Spurs, Manchester United, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Brighton, Man City, as well as us on the second last game. Last time we played them (away) we just about won. So we should definitely be more then able to get a result there.
Leeds have a few tough ones, Forest is their game in hand. But I think they’ll stay up for sure. 5/10 of their remaining game are relegation battle games. So not really much to say about that.
Bournemouth have Brighton as their game in hand and are in the same boat as Leeds, lots of games that are winnable but that means other relegation teams dropping points, not necessarily a bad thing.
Forest could definitely go down. Leeds is their game in hand. Their odds of going down are second highest in the league after Southampton. 8 of their 10 games left are non-relegation teams. So they’re in trouble
That takes us to Wolves. Top of the relegation battle (if you don’t count palace as relegation). Our games are not easy at all. Chelsea next up is definitely a winnable game in my opinion. They’re in awful form and while we aren’t in the best form I think we’ll give them a game.
Brentford I couldn’t tell you how that’s gonna end, Leicester, Palace, Brighton, Villa, United, Everton and Arsenal to close off the season.
I think we pull at least 10 points from those games. And with the other teams fixtures that will be more then enough.

Hi, I wanted to see if I could get some input on this. I have successfully setup a vercel / stripe / backend Supabase template where users can sign up and pay for my online service. Would anyone know how to go about setting it up so that after users pay for the subscription they can then access a button or link to go to a webpage. The webpage is built using javascript on an html page. I have the customer portal and stripe payment done, but not sure where to go to redirect them to the paid content page from their account. I believe this has to do with the rules in supabase pulling the active subscription but I'm trying to stop users who haven't paid from accessing the webpage.

Got ko’ed pretty spectacularly in my first am fight yesterday (3 rounds full Thai rules - elbow pads only). Decent size show and in front of a bunch of my friends.
Not sure why but positing about it for random strangers on the internet feels like a way to owning the loss and embarrassment and the lessons that come with it.
Definitely disappointed with the outcome but the reality is the adrenaline got the better of me and I had my hands down and ate some big power punches to the head and got knocked down twice in the first round. got up kept fighting and threw a sick cracking body kick that I knew hurt the other boy and made it to the bell.
2nd round clinched up straight away and threw a fuck load of knees. Ref broke the clinch, and cus my fucking hands were down I copped a head kick which put me on my ass and that was it.
Pretty disappointed but no point doing anything other than owning it and learning from it. To that end the things I learned from the experience:
- adrenaline is a motherfucker and makes you stupid. In sparring I’m always super careful to have my hands up with a tight guard, in actual fighting my hands were down pretty much the entire time and didn’t even think about it;
- Getting knocked down from a punch to the head doesn’t hurt at all - no need to be scared of the shots that sting - it’s the ones that don’t hurt that put you on your ass;
- I think I have decent fighting spirit to get up from a knockdown and keep going;
- I kick pretty good (even in the midst of an adrenaline rush). Landed a sick body kick before I got put down so I’m not totally shit at this sport;
Next steps:
- Recover from concussion 😂
- Don’t get discouraged and ignore all the people saying “well done for getting in the ring” (I feel like that’s the most patronising shit you can say to someone who just lost a fight 😂). The reality is i don’t train Muay Thai for anyone but myself anyway
- for the next few months I’m just gonna train and enjoy the learning and fitness that comes with it and not rush straight into fighting;
- Next fight, little show or maybe even a inter club to get some confidence back.
Even typing this out I feel a bit better about the whole thing. This sport is amazing in how even a brutal beating can still give you a positive lesson and make you better off if you let it

Before anything, my boyfriend is a very amazing boyfriend and I would rather not hear anything overly negative such as ‘break up with him’ because this post doesn’t reflect everything else we have been through.
Me and him are both 18(f & m) and have been together for almost 4 years.
We didn’t have much of any friend group since we got together as all of them turned out incompatible and broke up with each other. But in Jan this year we finally found the perfect friend group. Minus the fact this one girl, will call her Nadia, who has a boyfriend since Dec 2022 has shown a whole bunch of signs she feels way too comfortable around my bf.
For starters we have gone to 3 parties so far. At the first one we were sitting on an outside couch when Nadia and her bf come out to sit with. I was sat on my bf yet she reached all the way down to his thigh to gain balance to go over us (his thigh was barely visible and would’ve been easier to just grab onto mine). As she sits she also proceeds to stay on that same barely visible thigh with a quarter of her bum onto it (she and the bf had the space to move up) and ‘didn’t notice’ she did that until after 2 minutes of sitting weirdly. She apologised but it didn’t seem sincere. 2nd party she wasn’t there. 3rd party not even a second after me and my bf came inside of the house she ran up to him screaming his name and hugged him. Her bf was behind her but I didn’t see much of his reaction. My bf turned around to me and said ‘wtf’ but didn’t do anything else about it. Throughout that party my bf was doing a*s drops and similar moves and she slapped his ass a whole bunch of times throughout. At another point then we sat in this order Nadia, her bf, my bf, me, and her bf and mine were talking about muscles and her bf proceeds to touch his abs for barely a couple secs. She then REACHES over her bf and touches his abs too for a slightly longer period of time than her bf and then said ‘oops sorry’ which is the most annoyingly fake apology i’ve heard from someone because it isn’t a mistake literally having to reach over so much just to do that. Throughout these parties nobody was drunk enough for these actions to have any explanation to them, and even if they were I believe it isn’t an excuse.
Now in school, she always compliments to me how cool it is he has a bike and has asked him in front of me and the group if she can ride it with him before. He said ‘sure’ and I was mad at him until afterwards when he said he just said it to not me awkward which I could understand but he doesn’t owe her to be comfortable. She is also a person that tends to touch people a lot when she talks, but with my bf she is being overly touchy and talkative to compared to everyone else. They also say hi and bye to each other in this tone ‘hiiii nadia’ ‘byeeee nadia’ which I’ve pointed out to my bf before to stop doing it with her if he wont even do that to me or anyone else in that group. She has done many other things but this would become superrr lengthy.
Long story short I told my bf 2 months ago to never do streaks with her at least until she stops behaving like this (because if he had a normal friend I wouldn’t care, but that’s really not the case here) . I found out he did streaks with her for about a week 2 weeks ago, and asked him to stop streaks. Turns out as I find out yesterday my snooping into the phone just to check on that that not only has he continued it but he has kept it away from me. I know it’s a petty thing for me to ask for him to stop doing but if it’s such a useless thing then why can he just not? His reasoning is that it’s just pictures but my thinking is that him giving her attention is what makes her think she can behave like that with him. If she keeps it up I think I might just tell her off in person, I know I should’ve so far done something but the parties themselves already give me high anxiety levels and every time she pulls stuff like this it makes me have severe heart palpitations to the point where I might blow up at her badly. I might end up talking to her bf about how he feels too because I have noticed a few times he has reacted to how she behaves surprised so if we are in the same boat we could talk about it, problem is they hang out together a lot so i am trying to text him when he isn’t.
Is there any way I can make my boyfriend just simply stopping those streaks? If I am sounding unreasonable I can be let known how. I am up to suggestions of how to approach it all.
A big note that I need to mention is he has been trying to minimise contact with her at least at school and they barely talk outside of school apart from those streaks but I feel uncomfortable with her and him having them due to how she behaves around him. I for one hate snap chat and this situation makes me despise it more, it is a useless and childish app.

Not a big deal or for any important reason, I'm just curious how many total hours I've spent on certain books. I guess the only way to track this would be if excel were tracking the amount of time a book has been open. It wouldn't be a perfect measurement of time spent, but I'd still like to see.
I've seen some posts from many years ago, and I've tried everything. File properties, viewing info in excel etc.

Will be a long post, and I'm not very good at finding the specific words to convey my emotions, so I hope you can understand.
I'm a 28 year old female. My first boyfriend and I started dating when I was 13 and he was 15, and dated up until he died at age 21, shortly after joining the military. He was my first everything. I know, we were young, but I truly loved him. It was real. I don't know if it would have lasted, but it was real then. Over summers my parents let me straight up live at his house, we never had sex until my 18th birthday, we had so many plans for the future. Because of his specific job, we knew what base he would be moved to and I even had a job lined up there when the time came. He didn't want kids, but did want to adopt. Neither of us really did much, as in we didn't have grand plans to travel the world or have a lavish wedding, we just wanted to be together. We dreamed of being alone, just our family, just being close and at peace.
My husband and I have been together 6 years, we actually celebrated our anniversary recently and the thought did cross my mind that I've now been with him longer than any other man. He's absolutely wonderful. We share 1 child together, but thats not really important except to say he's also a fantastic father. I would not trade one man for the other. I love him as well, just as much as I loved my ex. I grieve the person I lost but I have moved forward with my life. I think more than anything I miss my ex boyfriend as a person. Not a romantic intrest but someone that I loved down in my bones as a best friend.
I started a new medication a month ago that makes me have vivid dreams. Like, it feels like they're new memories. I cannot describe how incredibly real they are, it feels like I'm living a second life and I'm confused when I wake up and am suddenly back in my house. I'm not cheating on my husband obviously, but I do feel scared of him finding out. It feels like a betrayal that my mind has wandered like this, and I know it would hurt his feelings to know what's happening, so it feels wrong and I feel guilty and awkward about it all. Everytime I go to bed or wake up it feels like I have a dirty secret.
But oh my God. It's like I've been given a gift. Sometimes they're real memories, and other times it's like he's alive again and we're just getting to live our lives. Last night I dreamed we were building a storage shed in our backyard. It was set in present day, so he was older than he even got to fucking live to be. We just talked while he used a nail gun to pit boards into place. I watched him squint from the sun, wrinkle his nose from allergies. I watched him use his sleve to wipe sweat off his face, and look over at me and smile. I don't miss him sexually, I don't even miss him romantically, the dreams aren't ever like that. I just get to see his face. I would kill to lay eyes on him again, with his brown hair long and curling at the ends like it used to be before he had to shave it, and his slightly crooked front middle right tooth. I would kill to hear his laugh again, which was deep and short even though his voice was a bit nasally. I'm sobbing thinking about how I miss him, and I haven't cried over him in years.

2023.04.02 11:39 cananemone Seeking Advice: Brain goes on autopilot (Sometimes I stop 'seeing'?)
Hello! I've noticed that I tend to do things on autopilot. This means that I sometimes don't adapt to changes in my environment because I simply don't notice them. I feel like my eyes 'disconnect' from my brain and I don't actually process what I'm seeing; like I'm lost in my own head. Sometimes my imagination is so vivid that I start 'seeing' my thoughts while my eyes are open - they just disconnect from my brain!
I can't think of any good examples right now, but I can try to explain it!
It's kind of like someone looking at Chinese characters and recognizing that it's Chinese, but not actually being able to read them. If you can't read Chinese, then you will probably not be able to pronounce or sound out "鸟". Compared to, let's say, an English speaker seeing the world "Vogel". If they don't also know German, they can most likely recognize the letters and read "Vogel" out loud.
This means I often 'automate' my daily tasks. It takes me a while to realize I need to 'connect back to my eyes' and identify the things around me and what I have to do in response to them. Does anyone have any tips for how to minimize how often I space out / go on autopilot? Does anyoneelse have similar experiences? Thank you for your time!

Hi all,
This is going to be a fairly depressing post.
I just feel so hopeless. I feel as though because of my being autistic, I'll never have as many friends as I want, and will never get the life or happy ending I want.
The vast majority of people dislike me, and even more find me annoying. This isn't paranoia - last year I had a boost in self-confidence and started to think hey, maybe everyone doesn't hate me, but someone told me that people were talking about how I'm annoying so it was all an illusion after all.
I can't work out what exactly it is. I've asked my close friends several times, but they can't work it out either. It just seems as though when I'm talking to people, there's just a tipping point where they begin to find me annoying and start disliking me.
I just don't know what to do. I want friends so, so badly. I feel like I've been so many different people, approached making friends in so many different ways and all of them have culminated in me being alone yet again.
I blame my autism because I see so many autistic people going through the same thing, and because I don't think it's something about my personality aside from me being "weird" - I'm not particularly aggressive or anything, and when people dislike me, I only ever hear that it's because I'm annoying.
I just feel so frustrated. I try so hard to make friends, I talk to the people around me every day and reach out to them whenever we see each other. Everything seems friendly on the surface, but I get this feeling at some point that they don't like me anymore. It's something about the way they act around me - I couldn't pinpoint it, and I'm never completely sure because they never say it and I am sometimes paranoid because countless people before them have secretly disliked me - but they get annoyed.
This isn't the life I wanted for myself. I didn't choose to have everyone hate me, and I really don't feel like it's something I've done so much as the fact that there's seemingly something intrinsic about me that seems to repel people.
I just want people to not find me annoying anymore. I just want people to like me. I want to have friends. Everyone around me has more friends, more fun, and even if they don't few people appear to dislike them in the way they do me. I feel so fucking helpless.
How do I get around this? Have you ever been in a situation like mine and overcome it? Do you have the friends you want, the social life you want?
All I want is to be a normal teenager having fun with my friends, going out places in the summer and taking pictures and video calls. No-one ever does that with me. I've tried very hard to not feel so defeated about it and to not think that it's all doom and gloom but fuck, I just can't fucking do it anymore. It really does feel like I'm inherently annoying and that there's nothing I can do to change it.
I know this sounds really whiny, but is there any hope that things will change? How do I get people to like me?
