2023.04.02 11:35 danaaaban_ AITA for not wanting to go to my mother’s friends’ party?
My mother (45F) has been friends with a peculiar couple for many years. They’re compulsive shoppers. Every year they put a new jacuzzi in their garden, they have a gym they don't use, they have a boat they don't use, they put an elevator in their house even though they’re both able to climb the stairs and they buy figures of fairies, goblins and dragons to decorate their entrance every week. They organize parties once a month and my mother always accompanies them and when she’s with them she becomes just as unbearable and immature. My father (47M) accompanies them sometimes, but he is fed up that when he doesn't go, they laugh at him and criticize him. The only thing the couple wants is to gather a lot of people in their house and post pictures on their social networks. Next Thursday it’s going to be my father's birthday, so the couple wants to organize a party for him on Friday. My father explained that 1- Friday will be his only day off and he prefers to spend it relaxed at home and 2- as I (16F) am autistic, I won't enjoy a party where I don't know anyone 3- precisely on that day, my friend, who is also autistic, will come to my house and he won't want to go to the party either. The couple ignored it and they grabbed my father by the neck to continue insisting and they told him that he was selfish for not wanting to carry out a plan that everyone else wanted and that he was ungrateful for not appreciating a surprise party. I told my mother that I don't think it's a good idea at all to go to the party, but she only answers that I'm selfish and boring like my father. Are my father and I exaggerating or what my mother and her friends is as bad as we think? AITA?

Part ofLearn & revise Add to My Bitesize It’s the food choice that seems to divide the world. Is pineapple an acceptable pizza topping?
It frequently causes arguments online with memes for and against pineapple as a topping shared almost every day. In these extraordinary times we're experiencing, some memes have even suggested that if 2020 was a pizza, it would have pineapple on it.
Love it or hate it? Our opinions on potential friends, film stars and sportspeople are regularly formed using the pineapple on pizza method, and it's even sparked debate among colleagues on Blue Peter.
But why is it so controversial and where did it even come from? BBC Bitesize grabs a slice of the action.
The origin of the Hawaiian The modern pizza we know today evolved from dishes created in Naples, Italy in the 18th and 19th Centuries.
Italians take their pizza very seriously, particularly in Naples, where the local pizza received traditional speciality guaranteed status by the EU in 2009, protecting the original pizza base recipe and its production methods against misuse or falsification.
But the Hawaiian pizza, topped with ham and pineapple, was not an Italian invention.
And despite the name, it did not come from the US island state of Hawaii either.
The pizza was actually created in Canada in 1962 by a Greek immigrant called Sam Panopoulos.
Panopoulos, along with his brothers, owned a restaurant in the province of Ontario. The food was initially very simple - traditional diner dishes such as pancakes and burgers. Inspired by a recent trip to Naples, Panopoulos decided to introduce pizza to the menu.
It was a relatively new dish in North America and at the time, most of them they served were topped with mushrooms, bacon or pepperoni. Panopoulos did the same, but as he became more adventurous with other dishes, introducing Americanised versions of Chinese meals such as sweet and sour chicken, which also includes pineapple, he decided to take a risk with his pizzas as well.
He added canned pineapple to one pizza, with ham – not knowing whether it would be a hit or not, but soon found the combination of sweet and savoury was proving a winner with his customers.
But why? One possible reason is the growing fascination at the time with Tiki culture. Hawaii had officially become an American state in 1959 and people had fallen in love with the island lifestyle. Canned pineapple began to be imported into North America, along with pineapple juice - providing Panopoulos with his crucial ingredient.
As for the name, the brand of tinned pineapple was called Hawaiian, so Panopoulos’ invention was named in its honour.
Hawaiian hatred From its humble Canadian beginnings, the combination spread across North America, and ultimately the world - but despite its global appeal, pineapple pizza has remained controversial.
A 2017 YouGov poll found that 82% of people surveyed liked pineapple, but only 53% liked the fruit on their pizza. 12% of people said they disliked it on pizza a little bit while 29% said they hated the idea.
Hawaiian pizza - not actually illegal in Iceland. One of the main arguments is that pineapple breaks with tradition – that fruit, tomato aside, has no place on a pizza.
Gudni Thorlacius Johannesson, president of Iceland, caused a minor international incident when he joked with school pupils that, given the chance, he would ban pineapple on pizza.
It led to Hawaiian pizzas being sent to the Icelandic Embassy in London and Justin Trudeau, prime minister of Canada, passionately defended his country’s culinary contribution in a tweet.
But why? Master pizzaiolo (pizza chef) Franco Pepe owns a restaurant in Caiazzo, north of Naples. He’s been named the best pizza maker in the world on multiple occasions - but hasn't shied away from using pineapple as a topping, winning an award for his take on the controversial pizza.
Speaking to food website La Cucina Italiana, Pepe said he thought the reason many were against pineapple was because it clashed too much with the base sauce.
“The combinations were probably too risky: the pineapple was combined with tomato!
“Double acidity, which invariably resulted in a weak taste and poor digestibility. In addition, the pineapples were from cans, pre-cooked under syrup with a huge addition of other sugars.”
Pepe’s critically acclaimed pineapple pizza uses fresh fruit and serves it cold, wrapped in prosciutto ham – an approach that he says allows the natural taste of the pineapple to shine through.
But despite his fine dining take on the Hawaiian, the standard tinned fruit option remains incredibly popular.
Hawaiian fans say they like the combination of sweet and savoury flavours – a trend that has become fairly common on menus in recent years thanks to things like salted caramel.
And who hasn’t been to a child’s birthday party where pineapple and cheese chunks on sticks were served?
But in the end, it comes down to personal choice – a point referenced by Icelandic President Johannesson, who said: “As much as I do not like pineapple on pizza, the individual freedom of having the topping of your choice overrides that.”
And with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson openly admitting that pineapple on pizza is his preferred choice, who is to argue? Love it or hate it, Hawaiian pizza is here to stay.

2023.04.02 11:33 undergrounderio debating whether I should start my first move away from home (18m)
there are a lot of small details and plenty of extra info, but I'll try to keep this short:
how do I balance the conservative, money oriented part of me and the fuck it, this could help me get out of depression and get my shit together part of me? I have a list of pros and cons of moving away from home:
the benefits: i can accept my responsibilities without letting my mom take care of things for me, in a way that makes sense to me. I'll gain life experience I wouldn't get otherwise. This provides a good space to break out of old ruts and habits. The pressure is on to at least obtain an associates degree.
the detriments: It'll be expensive. I won't be able to save as much because of this. I have no idea what will happen if the couple I'd move in with break up. I'll be more stressed about my new responsibilities. I'll have to somehow transition my temperamental cat from being an indoooutdoor cat to fully indoors (apartment). I'll have to transfer community colleges. There will always be a chance of my expensive but necessary things being damaged. I'll have to leave the job I'm comfortable with and find a new one.
on one hand, this would force me to do my own stuff instead of relying on my mom to to do it, but on the other, it's not a financially wise decision and it will greatly impact how my future will look.
thoughts? do I sound like a whiny teenager or does this seem reasonable to consider?

2023.04.02 11:31 Trysson Shazam- Fury Of The Gods Imo
Shazam: Fury of the Gods is a sequel worthy of its predecessor, an irreverent cinecomic that once again disguises itself as a comedy to tell us the classic journey of the hero in a choral training adventure, with a more close-knit cast than ever and lots of irreverent ideas and pleasant irony. In short, the formula that made the fortune of the DC film with Zachary Levi confirms its effectiveness and, even with an artistic direction that is not always valuable, brings home the result by having fun with simplicity. But be careful: the post credit scenes could provide some clues to understand the role that Shazam could have (or not have) in the new DC Universe signed by James Gunn...

2023.04.02 11:30 wahblahrah AITA for letting my dog loose in a dog park?
A few days ago I took my Husky to a new dog park. When we arrived it was practically empty except for a lady standing all the way in the back. The park was somewhat big, about the size of a football field. We walk in and I let my dog loose as it is a gated park. My dog immediately starts sniffing and running around. I start digging through her bag to try to find her ball, when all of a sudden I hear a loud scream coming from the lady in the back and my dog growling. I immediately run towards them but at this point I'm thinking my dog bit the lady even though she has never been aggressive towards anyone or anything except squirrels lol. As I approach them, the lady starts kicking my dog and starts cussing and yelling at me. I asked her what happened and she just kept cussing at me telling me my dog was too aggressive for a dog park. After a few seconds I realized what had happened... my dog had attacked her pet ferret... The lady kept yelling at me so I apologize, grab my dog, and start to head out. She starts following me to my car while continuing to yell about how my dog needs to be put down blah blah blah. I apologized multiple times but she was just furious so I eventually told her to fuck off! She took a picture of my car and license plate and said she was going to sue me. When I got home I felt terribly bad for the ferret but I think a dog park isn't the bes' place for a pet like that... am I in the wrong for telling her to fuck off?

2023.04.02 11:30 Massive_Brush_7710 I straightened out my life by faking my ADHD test and getting prescription Adderall.
Even my family doesn't know I take Adderall. When I was in my mid 20's, I was married, working a service job, and going nowhere in life. I had a lack of motivation and was always looking for get-rich-quick schemes to propel myself forward. I was a deadbeat husband and a deadbeat dad.
I saw a news segment about the dangers of Adderall on college campuses, but all I saw was an opportunity for a pill to either turn me smarter or into some sort of superhuman.
I read up on Adderall and ADHD and made an appointment with a psychiatrist. I guess a lot of people try to get stimulant prescriptions and the doctor had warned me that they have a computer test that can't be tricked.
The test had to do with clicking a mouse when you saw a circle become an X on a computer monitor for like 15 minutes. I had already done my reading on what ADHD people behave like, so I just used my head and started to think about irrelevant things and delaying my clicks.
By the end of it, the psychiatrist said I had severe primarily inattentive ADHD and just like that, I was getting a regular prescription for Adderall.
The medication made everything that was once difficult in my life so effortless. I became a better husband, a better father, and a better employee. I was able to listen to my wife and focus on what she was saying and what she needed. I had limitless energy to play with my kids. And I tripled my salary over the span of the past 4 years and just bought a house a year and a half ago. I solved all the major issues in my life and am a completely new person.
The only issue now is I'm hooked. I was only going to use it for a few years to get to where I needed to go, but now that everything has worked out, I just can't find a way to give it up. I don't even need it anymore. We're a single-income household and I only work 10-15 hours a week from home, so I'm confident I can muster up enough focus for that, but I enjoy it too much. Not sure what is going to do to me long term and it concerns me that the addiction will become worse and I'm going to end up regretting it.

2023.04.02 11:27 Queasy_Arm_2979 'Evil Dead Rise' Director Lee Cronin Tapped For Horror Thriller 'Thaw'
Lee Cronin, the director for the upcoming fifth entry in the classic Evil Dead franchise, Evil Dead Rise, has already secured his next film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he will be reuniting with New Line Studios to direct their original horror thriller Thaw.
Cronin will also be responsible for rewriting the current draft of the script, originally written by Jeremy Passmore. The story follows a group of survivors searching for a new home in a future where the polar ice caps have melted. The group discovers an inhabitable town, only to find that a hidden danger lurks underneath the water.
Passmore originally wrote Thaw, selling it to Gunpowder & Sky, who produced the horror anthology series 50 States of Fright. Coincidentally, Cronin wrote an episode for the first season of the series. Passmore has also worked with New Line on Dwayne Johnson's San Andreas, as well as co-writing the 2012 remake of Red Dawn.
Who Is Lee Cronin?
Riding high from Evil Dead Rise's reception at this year's SXSW, Cronin's hiring for Thaw is a strong indicator of New Line's faith in the director's talent. Cronin started his film career with shorts including the supernatural thriller Ghost Train in 2013. The short would go on to win the Melies d'Argent for best European short film.
Cronin's feature debut came with 2019's The Hole In The Ground, which premiered at that year's Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim. The film was released by A24 and earned Cronin a Saturn nomination for breakthrough director. Along with 50 Stages of Fright, his television credits include two episodes of the Irish comedy series The Masterplan.
Evil Dead Rise was intended for a release on HBO Max before positive reception at an early test screening, as well as a similar response to the film's trailer at CineEurope last year brought it on track for a theatrical release. Set to release April 21, the film currently sits with a score of 96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Check out the red band trailer for Evil Dead Rise below.

2023.04.02 11:21 Minghy Reached a new low, and skipped lunch.
After seeing my crush get taken by someone surprising, my Dad was annoyed by me feeling upset over it and me comparing myself to the boyfriend…how much better I see him to be over me…
…he also got pissed off because out of a lack of energy from myself personally, our communication too broke down.
My Dad left me home alone today, for I guess, he’s still pissed after a night’s sleep.
I felt I had hit a new low. And…I couldn’t pull myself out of my room to get breakfast in the morning or lunch.
As I’m typing this much closer to dinner whilst sitting at a park somewhere…I’m really hungry, but I felt like I deserved the starve. Though I just bought a can of Diet Coke however.
I’m such a fuck up. No charm, no charisma, no future. A failure who is neither good at maintaining friendships nor finding someone who would accept me.
My only talent in life is having a death-wish whilst driving at midnight.

2023.04.02 11:20 confused1guy Family agreement made before passing
Hi all,
I want to start by apologising, as this is all a little much for me right now and has weighed heavily on my family.
We lost my sister just over 2 years ago to stage 4 lung cancer. It was all crazy considering she was diagnosed a day after giving birth to my niece.
Due to the aggressive nature, our fight was only 1 year and a half, before the doctors said there was nothing more they could do. After being told that she has a month to live, with it being Covid at the time and the hospital being very considerate of the situation: they allowed my mother, brother-in-law and niece together. Unbeknownst, to me my sister and brother-in-law said that they wanted my mother to raise my niece and live with my brother-in-law until she is 10 and then allow them their space. At this time, everyone in that room agreed to one of her final wishes.
To give some additional information as soon as my sister was diagnosed my partner left everything (we were 3 hours away from each other) leaving their home, and jobs and moving to support them. I was able to rent out our family home to allow for some additional income, and since it was the start of Covid, my dad wasn’t able to find and work and even then there was massive concern about passing Covid to my sister.
So since 28/10/2019 (my sister passed 07/03/2021) until now my parents have been living with my brother-in-law to help raise my niece. During this time they had been a full-time caregiver for my sister and niece, my dad would buy all of the food/shopping and all chip in when needed. I would buy my niece the close required and additional items I.e baths mats etc.
I am just now finding out now slowly that just over 6 months after my sister died, he had been pursuing a relationship with a friend of a friend. Even though in that last month in front of my sister said he would never marry again etc. I’m not stupid what else could he say, but my mum told him separately, please don’t lie to my sister and send her away on these false promises.
Since then there have been massive concerns about his abilities as a father, choosing to be in the gym 6 days a week and hardly seeing her ( now going 4 times a week as he had a bitch fit as to why doesn’t his daughter call for him but my mother, her grandma, when she was ill), going for extended trips away, lack of communication with my niece and almost toxic at times where he would leaver her crying after she has apologised many times and asking to be held. In some cases being a little too physical where he would just pull her from her hand in the direction he wanted and slap her on the but which left his handprint with little remorse stating she needs to be scared of someone. Nights out clubbing without much consideration. With all of this, there is a level of entitlement that his daughter should love him unconditionally and he should have more.
At the end of the day, I didn’t expect him to be alone, since it wants his fault for what happened to my sister. However, hearing all of this from my close friend that he has been lying to us this whole time about what he said he’s being down and what he’s doing. Stating that she feels used and manipulated in helping him get want he wanted I am overly concerned.
Our fear as a family is that he will try to push my mum out considering he is starting a new relationship not keeping his word that was originally agreed and considering we don’t have any of it on paper I’m not sure what this looks like.
Is there anything we can do to my sure we can continue to support my niece as originally agreed? There is still so much missing from the story as it is all too much.
I’m also not sure what type of lawyers I can reach out for advice. I want to formally state we don’t want a single item from him, I’m concerned that my niece with not be raised right.

2023.04.02 11:19 model-super #GEXIX [Shropshire and Staffordshire] model-super attends a Doll House Party
Kids, everybody’s love. But kids also mean playdates, and a lot more. model-super, the Tory candidate for Shropshire, decided to get on everybody’s nerves, by going on a random talk in the middle of the parents’ conversation on school choices. Let’s tune in!
School choices you say Shelly, I will tell you the realities of School Choices. Apart from decreasing Class Sizes, this Government’s policies on School choices is a whole bunch of crap. They first removed the Academies, now the Selective Schools, and certainly will one day scrap out free schools, and force all of your children, however smart, however they are, to standardised state schools. Why, ideology. They want to indoctrinate your children that equality somehow happens when you throw the rich kids and poor kids together.
No! It just means you’re making children feel inferior amongst each other, and doing nothing to face the reality. Uniforms can’t hide the true feelings you see. This is why, plug in, the Tories need to be pushed into power. I know Jess, you don’t like me talking about it, but here me out for once. The Tories have a concrete policy on Education, support Grammars, support academisation, support School Independence, and we will be doing exactly that. We will also be abolishing the GCSEs and replacing it with Baccalaureate styled Assessment systems which means that the year-long contributions of your child can be noted when teachers assign a final grade.
This will make the grading system more rounded, equitable and fair to all children. This is the real equity we need to give our children. We also propose to build a new National Learning Library for students aged 5-18, so that they can access their online learning resources, whenever wherever they want. This will help in their ongoing education efforts and work towards streamlined academic excellence. We also want to increase the minimum wage of 12 pounds per hour for all workers across our country. Work more, earn more, and save harder.
Coming to family, let’s all congratulate Edwards on becoming a new father. For you, we have special legislation. The Tories propose to expand both maternity and paternity leave across the UK, since both parents deserve to spend equal time with their children. We will also be increasing funding for the Family and Youth Services across the nation, to ensure we give our future the very best. We will also be drafting a new Equalities Act which will ensure every person counts, every voice matters and none of it is suppressed in ideological or political whims.
Moving to some Culture announcements, we will be introducing new "Culture and Cultural Heritage Protection Units” in Law Enforcement, who will ensure that our cultural artefacts are not smuggled out of the United Kingdom, and that everyone who does it will get punished seriously. We will also be introducing new Social Media Regulations and reviewing the prospect of a Digital Bill of Rights, to better protect you and our children from the evil forces within the Social Media World.
I think with that, we have spoken a lot. If I speak further, I’d be sent home, asked to reflect on my conduct, so yes, we have a lot more reasons to vote Tories, so please cast your vote for me this Election.
Finally fighting for breath, model-super takes his seat, but this time, with stride, and hopefully more voters on the bank. He finally has cupcakes and leaves the doll-house party, with his thoroughly embarrassed daughter, and moves home.

2023.04.02 11:18 brandonbeepboop 23M Moving to Austin, TX soon. What should I expect dating-wise as a black guy?
I'm a 23-year-old black guy who’s moving to Austin soon. I'm originally from Mississippi and went to a PWI. I work in tech, I'm pretty introverted, a bit of a nerd, and not really into the drinking/party scene. I didn't have much luck dating back home, and I'm looking to change that here in Austin. I'm open to dating interracially and would love to get some advice from Austin natives.
So, what's the dating scene like in Austin for young professional new grads? Have you noticed any particular challenges or benefits for someone like me in the dating scene here? Also, I'd appreciate any recommendations on good spots or activities in Austin to meet new people that cater more to the introverted/nerdy types! I’m excited for this move!

2023.04.02 11:17 SecureAd1981 Which career would be the best choice for me ? Please help.
Please help me find my next career, I need advice.
Hello, so I’m 25F. I studied law, but realized I don’t like it. I have tried but I just don’t want to be a lawyer I don’t like the job and I don’t like the environment, the competition in the field…..So please do not recommend me to go back to law or do law related things.
In the past years I’ve struggled a lot making the decision to change careers, this led me to a lot of anxiety, but finally I am very calm now and I decided that I am willing to start all over if necessary.
First of all a little about myself: I define myself as an introvert, but I am capable of socializing and I work well with others, I am very flexible and easygoing. I am very independent when it comes to teaching myself new things. I have worked in sales and call centers, I got the job done but I honestly don’t love it, it drains me to talk to so many clients a day. I speak 3 languages. I am quite creative and artistic but I know it’s hard to make a living from art.
My ideal job would be something I can do “quietly” and focused, by this I mean, something that doesn’t involve me talking to the clients constantly and convincing them of things. Something I can get done by myself and that’s it. If I could work from home that would be amazing too. It is important for me to have a career that is flexible, meaning that I could move to another country with this career. Of course I also must be practical, so I would like something that gives me security, meaning is not super hard to get a job in and pays well.
If it requires studies it would be nice if it only took 1-3 years tops.
Things I have thought about:
- Writing and editing, I consider myself good at writing, but this is not a very secure field.
- Veterinary, I love animals but becoming a vet takes so long…
- I know plenty of people will recommend coding, programming and such, I would like it but I have never been very good at math, also I heard the field is over saturated and even if I go to a bootcamp someone with a computer science degree would be ahead and more prepared.
- I tried getting into marketing and did online certs, but I couldn’t land an internship.
- I have heard about salesforce but I also read it became over saturated and most people that get the cert are not well prepared.
- A friend recently told me about Importation and Exportation, she said her friend studied this and is making a ton of money from home.
- Accounting or finances: from watching my colleagues, the job seems pretty chill, they’re just doing their numbers on their excel sheets (sorry if I oversimplified it lol). Don’t know what the career path would be tho.
Anyway, I have truly no idea of what to do, if you have some ideas or advice I would be so grateful.

2023.04.02 11:16 yakomotara Needed to get this out
tl;dr -she broke up with me because she didn't know what she wanted, suprise it's her guy friend for sure.
After 8 years together and nearly 2 years living together, she (23) broke up with me (m 23).
We went to study together in the same city. I dropped out last summer and got a job, decent Software Dev job. Bought her nice things, her favourite snacks, etc. I thought she was happy, however, I liked to stay more home and be just with her and she likes to be out. Don't get me wrong we were doing social activities, but not as much as she wanted I guess.
Her behaviour changed after New year, she had a lot in a day, school and job, so I cooked for us and she had a meal ready when she came. So I thought she is kinda stressed and that's why she is acting different. In the last 4 months there wasn't much space to do somethings. Nearly every weekend she went home to her parents, I went mb every other weekend. At the weekend she was with her family so we just went out to get a dinner at Friday or Saturday. Actually many time she refused to go BC it was too late or so.
In the working week, the last 4 months, she came around 8 pm home 3 days of the week. And on the Friday she traveled to the parents. So we had like 1 normalish day.
The whole time that she was weird she didn't say much about this problem (asked her many times what is wrong), about her, thinking to end things between us. The first, like serious talk we had, was 5 weeks back. (Brake up happend 2 w ago)
She talked about that, she wanted to spend more time togheter. I was like sure. Next 3 weeks we went to a 2 social events (like meeting with friends out) and every evening she came late, I asked her to play cards at least (she likes to). Many times she declined because she is tired.
Week before she broke up with me she went to Amsterdam with her friends/classmates (there was one particular guy let's call him M, she did mentioned him few times last 6 months, like when we where talking about her day a stuff). I am not the jealous type, she asked me to go with them for the trip, but I declined bc. we were planing bigger trip in the summer and was trying to save up for down payment for a flat, so I wanted to save some money.
One week after her trip to AM, I had a weekend with just 4 friends. Like a LAN party type thing. She went home to her parents.
Her messaging was wierd, didn't think much about it, since she could be just.. idk really don't. When I got on train, she send the classic we need to talk when we get home.
We talked and she said she doesn't know what she wants and that we are different. I asked her if there is somebody else, she said no. I cried, she cried a bit, but probably just bc she is not a sociopath so she felt bad for me I guess.
We stayed in the rented place for 2 weeks, we rotated between bedroom and couch. Nearly every day she came around 10-11 pm. I found a shared flat with roommates so did she. Yesterday I moved in new flat, she did too.
We did say our goodbyes on Friday morning, hugged and stuff. I was like ok, maybe she will know what she wants after a while and we can start over.
Yesterday she posts on her ig story a picture from a new flat, a welcome party I guess. There were her new roommates (girls) and a M right next to her sitting (and one more guy friend, from a group that she hangs out with, but no girl friends from that group).
At that moment it clicked, all the things she said about him and stuff she did with him that I didn't know (checked his profile). They sure spend more time togheter than we did, since they go to school togheter and hangout in group.
I am f-in broken, unfriended her every where. Deleted all photos.
She lied for sure, the only reason they didn't move togheter is because he lives with his parents. (In our country, kids that have uni near, live with parents traditionally till the end of uni)
I am here sitting and don't know what to do with my life, If I could be a better boyfriend maybe we could be still togheter.
We were planing the future togheter and than this happend. Aaaaaaa. I loved her, she could at least told me the truth.
Sorry for all typos and stuff, eng is not my first language. Edit typos.
Was I irrational?

2023.04.02 11:13 KiraraChin A wonderful article about Kazuki Tomono
I translated it using DeepL for a different platform and decided to share it here too, for those who enjoyed his performances at the Worlds Championships. Here's the original link:
https://mi-mollet.com/articles/-/41688 Why we are encouraged by Kazuki Tomono's fighting spirit. His "captivating" performance that had the audience on their feet, and his competitive spirit of "believing in himself". Japan's first back-to-back championships won by Shoma Uno and Kaori Sakamoto. Rikuryu (Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara) became the first Japanese team to win the Grand Slam of the year. Furthermore, they became the first Japanese team to win all three categories. Kanadai (Kana Muramoto/Daisuke Takahashi) tied for Japan's highest ever ranking. The World Figure Skating Championships were full of records. All the athletes, both domestic and international, shined in their own ways, but it was Kazuki Tomono who left an unforgettable sparkle in the hearts of all who saw his performance. Despite some falls in both the Short Program (SP) and Free Skating (FS), he showed no signs of breakdowns, and placed 6th with his outstanding performance. Especially in FS, despite some mistakes, he marked 180.73 points, a new personal best. He made the packed Saitama Super Arena stand in awe of his performance. He has now competed in 3 World Championships, and has recorded personal bests on all 3 occasions. What is the secret of his amazing strength in the competition? In order to tell you about Tomono's strength to live up to expectations, we would like to start by retracing his steps. Never a promising athlete in his youth Born in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture in 1998, Tomono began skating at the age of 4, but he was never a promising skater from the start. One of the proofs of this is the Nobeyama Training Camp. This was a training camp for novice skaters (9 to 12 years old as of July 1 of that year), both boys and girls, to gather promising skaters from all over the country, and the first group of students produced Shizuka Arakawa, a gold medalist at the Torino Olympics. Since then, world champions such as Daisuke Takahashi, Miki Ando, Mao Asada, and Yuzuru Hanyu have gone on to become world champions through this "Nobeyama Training Camp". Current national team candidates such as Shoma Uno, Sota Yamamoto, Shun Sato, and Kao Miura have also experienced the Nobeyama Training Camp. However, Tomono has never participated in the Nobeyama training camp. In other words, he was not considered a future national team candidate at that time. In fact, as a junior, he was not selected for the Junior Grand Prix Series three years in a row. There was even one year when he went home feeling frustrated that he was the only one who failed out of all the competitors invited to the selection rounds. Because the competitions are usually broadcast on terrestrial television, we tend to be under the illusion that we are watching figure skating, but the figure skating we are watching is an amateur sport. Most of the skaters are students and retire as soon as they graduate from college. Tomono is also loved by skating fans for his unique programs such as "Japanese Doll" and "Fate of the Dog Officer," but the road to the top in Japan was difficult, and he revealed that he had planned to leave the competitive world after graduating from university. However, in 2018, he placed 5th at her first World Championships. What was supposed to be just a student sport turned out to be the world's TOMONO. From here, Tomono's skating life changed at once. The glory of "world No. 5" and the new conflict that emerged from it However, as long as our dreams are far away, we do not experience the frustration of missing them. It is precisely because it seems out of reach and out of grasp that we become disenchanted with our own powerlessness and devastated by the two words "talent. After achieving the glory of "5th in the world," Tomono's competitive life was a battle against another kind of pressure. After that, he trained hard to get back on the world stage, but he was unable to show his ability in the competition and finished outside the podium every year at the All-Japan Championships. The only thing that weighed on him more and more was the fact that he was ranked 5th in the world. In addition, a new generation, including Yuma Kagiyama, who later became a silver medalist at the Beijing Olympics, emerged, and the fierce race for selection became more and more intense. Tomono was always surrounded by first-rate talent. And that seems to be where Tomono's conflict lay. Uno, his classmate, has been called a "genius" since he was a Novice skater, and is a treasure of the skating world. Yamamoto, a rinkmate since childhood, was also considered a promising "star of the PyeongChang Olympics. The younger skaters, Kagiyama, Sato, and Miura, are such gems that they have been featured as "Kanto Three Crows" since they were still junior skaters. Of course, all of them have their own struggles and difficulties that cannot be described with superficial expressions, but they are exceptional in terms of the level of expectations. In contrast to these aces, I am just an ordinary skater. I have never experienced being a hopeful with high expectations. I have not come this far because I have special talent. His openness to everyone is one of Tomono's virtues, but he is also a bit too gentle as a competitor, and is an entertainer at heart who professes that he does not like to fight. His many substitute appearances have paved the way for him, and he finds himself competing side by side with geniuses whom he thought were from a different world when he was a boy, but he is still somewhat unsure of his position in the world. I felt that such a weak heart, one more step, was clinging to Tomono's skating shoes. This season's NHK Cup broke that spell. Indeed, the result was not great, coming in 4th place. Uno, Yamamoto, and other rivals of the same generation were standing on the podium, but I could not bring home a medal. I wonder if he is still suffering from the same frustration that he felt at the Junior Grand Prix Series selection round. I felt that I was suffering from the same frustration that I had felt at the Junior Grand Prix Series selection round, and I was heartbroken. However, after the competition, Tomono's expression was clear. He said, "I had been facing my weaknesses for a long time, and I thought it was time to let that go. After yesterday's match, I had a change in my mind, thinking that it was time for me to face my strength. Today was the first time I fully believed in my own strength and took on the challenge of facing my own strength. Despite missing the podium, which had been his goal, Tomono never let out a negative or weak voice. Rather, he only looked forward. I felt a strength in him that I had never seen in Tomono before. He faced his own strength, not his own weakness. He won the representative battle, which was never in an advantageous position, and won the representative seat on his own. And then, he placed 6th in the World Championships in a magnificent performance, amidst the world's top skaters performing at their best. He himself commented on his "mysterious confidence," but I could no longer sense any sense of defeat or lack of confidence in Tomono, standing on the main rink of Saitama Super Arena. He believed in himself there, more than anyone else. That is why, even if he fell down, he never lost his heart, never lost his passion, and skated what he could call his best. Unfortunately, he did not reach the medal, but without a doubt, he was the strongest Kazuki Tomono ever at that moment. Behind those words was a break with himself, who had never been raised by the elite. It is true that my skating life may not have been what the adults expected of me. There may be many stars who are more talented than me. I believe that those who are in the world of competitions have to suffer in ways that we cannot even imagine. But I am standing in this place right now. Let me believe in that, first of all. Let's expect more from ourselves than anyone else. That is how Tomono was able to change his mind. In this way, he was able to overcome his weakness. Believing in Yourself" Makes Tomorrow a Little Better Figure skating is famous for its short life span. Although not as long as women's figure skaters, most men's skaters also say goodbye to their competitive careers in their 20s. Tomono, now 24 years old, may not have much time left in his competitive career. I am sure that teenage athletes will be gaining strength from now on. No one can guarantee that they will be able to compete in the World Championships again next year. But strangely, when I look at Tomono, such pessimistic feeling disappears somewhere. Rather, my heart gets excited that Kazuki Tomono's prime period starts now. This is surely because we are also inspired by the "strength to believe in oneself" that Tomono has acquired. People are not strong creatures. We make excuses, and we also make weak noises. We are tormented by a sense of inferiority, thinking we are not good enough compared to others, or we raise the white flag before we even begin to fight for fear of getting hurt. The more we grow up, the better we get at finding reasons not to do things. It is easy to run away from our weaknesses. But that doesn't open the door to the future. Even if you were not blessed with talent or the right environment from the start, if you have worked hard, you must first properly believe in yourself. Stop belittling yourself and give yourself more credit than anyone else for the person you are right now. Seeing Tomono, who was defeated by his rivals that day, but still determined to "face his own strength, not his own weakness," gives me such courage. You don't have to have any evidence. It doesn't matter if it is bullshit or a bluff. The highlight of Tomono's performance was the choreo sequence at the end of the competition. Failures, hesitations, worries, complexes, all are blown away as Tomono runs across the ice with such speed. The sense of speed and the exhilaration of his performance make the audience feel happy. Even if I can't make someone smile like that, there must be something I can do. I too shall face not my weakness but my strength. I was moved by Tomono's performance because it contained an important message for living life. submitted by

2023.04.02 11:12 ASmugDill More Tramol (purportedly) waterproof pigment inks
| Only the five at the front are new arrivals Five more bottles of Tramol pigment inks, that are purportedly waterproof, arrived mid-week to join the others I have. That's a total of fourteen bottles, in a series that (as far as I know, currently) comes in fourteen colours… of which I now have thirteen. (I already had a bottle of Evening Bell from before, which I still haven't opened yet.) But, I've been slack. I received the other nine months ago, but only opened (seven of nine) late in February to draw samples of them for a friend. (I ordered her full bottles of the other two, which I think are more like her ‘staple’ colours for drawing, for direct delivery to her home ahead of last Christmas.) I haven't used or swatched a single one of them. (I also have ten Rohrer & Klingner SketchINK bottles that I haven't opened, in spite of having received them from LCdC long before it went out of business last year.) This is opportune, though, because they may prove useful for a (non-ink) product development idea my wife has just a week or so ago. submitted by ASmugDill to fountainpens [link] [comments] |
2023.04.02 11:12 NoSatisfaction1407 Employer undertaxing me after job change. I am curious of the mechanics .
I moved jobs during the tax years getting a substantial increase from circa 50k to 70k.
I provided my new employer with my p45 and I assumed that my tax would be slightly lower in the remainder of the tax year because my taxable income would be circa 60k.
Then my tax yoyod to hell. Month 1 in new role and I got taxed on 70k Month 2 (after they received my p45) I got negative tax and my take home pay was higher than my gross ! In month 3 and onwards and it seemed to stabilize but at a lower amount than what I would expect.
I eventually did a recon and realized that my tax is about 2k short for the Tax year. I am new to the UK, but I have heard this happens.
So how will I go about paying that shortfall?
I am a salaried employee.
Will they deduct in one go, do I need to pay in on assessment.

You’ve stumbled across this page for a reason.
It’s not because you’ve heard of this crazy new business model called ‘SMMA’ and it’s not because you’re struggling to sign your first client.
It’s because you’re exasperated. You’re frustrated. And you know you can do better.
You’re stuck in a pair of “golden handcuffs”: running a mildly-successful agency but beholden to your clients, your staff, and your phone.
You’ve broken the one inviolable rule of running an agency and not kept a full pipeline.
You know that you can reach the upper echelon of agency owners making six-and-seven figures, whilst working less than six-and-seven hours a week.
You just don’t know how…
My name’s Iman Gadzhi and since 2017, I’ve run IAG Media. In this time, I’ve worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, enjoyed six-figure months and made my clients millions.
I’ve also lost multiple clients in a row, been over-worked and chained to the agency that I started to give me freedom.
All the while, I’ve refined, tweaked and optimized my agency whilst also creating GrowYourAgency.com – the world’s largest education company for agency owners.
But in early 2020, I realised there was a problem. For every beginner agency owner desperate to sign their first client, there were three experienced agency owners desperate for guidance, systems and processes, and a solution to their broken agency model.
It’s why I created Copy Paste Agency…
…not so I can show you how to sign a client or perform basic outreach.
So you could take, copy and paste the exact methods I use in my own agency into your agency.
Copy Paste Agency students learn:
How I continue to run a multiple-six-figure agency from home with a skeleton staff and minimal expenses.
How to command higher retainers… and retain those clients for longer.
How to automate, delegate, and optimize every area of your agency from lead generation and sales to service delivery and client communication.
Plus get access to the latest tools and software used by my own agency, IAG Media such as reporting templates.

2023.04.02 11:11 Jumpy-Dinner-6768 'Evil Dead Rise' April Fools Teaser Hilariously Promises a “Love Story For The Ages”
April’s bringing moviegoers a whole new batch of horror releases. However, the most exciting out of all of them is the long-awaited return of the Evil Dead franchise in Evil Dead Rise. The marketing for this terrifying resurrection has slowly been taking over the airwaves and since it is April Fools' Day, the Deadites must have their fun toying with us horror fans. In the latest teaser for the film, Rise uses the prank-filled holiday to hilariously highlight the “love story” heart to this undead nightmare.
The 30-second trailer is cut together like it’s your parents next favorite Nicholas Sparks romantic drama. It’s just two unknown young adults living their best romantic lives at this dreamlike lakeside setting as the music swells. We’re promised a “love story for the ages” as the pair lock eyes and the caption accompanying the new footage, “This April, rediscover what it means to possess someone - in body, heart, and soul”, drives the humorous parody home. While April Fools' Day is usually filled with cruel fake movie news, Evil Dead always knows how to warm a horror fan’s cold dark heart.
Evil Dead Returning to its Horror Roots
However, in typical Evil Dead fashion you can’t trust anything you see as this love story quickly unravels as there’s soon a creepy clock, an odd looking pointy cabin in the woods, and some very grotesque Deadite imagery. This ill-fated couple is not long for this world as the final shot of the teasers sees what appears to be a dismembered head splattered on a dock. While this is a short teaser, it does give a lot of juicy new tidbits for Evil Dead fans to sink their teeth into. For one, Rise isn’t forgetting its horror roots. Three out of the four films in the franchise have taken place in a cabin in the woods far from any known civilization. At least a portion of Rise will take place at the disturbing pointy cabin seen in this trailer and is most likely the cold open of the film before moving the series into its new urban setting. This killer trailer also alludes to the latest film retaining its morbid sense of humor. The franchise has swung on a horrifically fun pendulum that ranges from pure campy-movie horror to traumatizing blood-drenched scares. It feels like Rise will land somewhere in the middle to give Evil Dead fans something that feels fresher when compared to your average genre sequel.
What’s Evil Dead Rise About?
Evil Dead Rise is a new take on the franchise that follows two estranged sisters Beth (Lily Sullivan) and Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland) reconnecting after many years of being apart. However, their awkward family reunion doesn’t last long as the Necronomicon somehow gets involved and possesses Ellie. From there staple Evil Dead madness ensues, but what separates this story from others in this long-running franchise is the fact that Ellie has Children. That’s only going to elevate the hellish horror even more. While Evil Dead was having some fun with this April Fools teaser, this will in fact be a love story of sorts. The only difference is that it will be between a family desperately trying to survive the Deadites reign of terror on a Los Angeles high rise apartment building. Will love save this family or will the lack of it be their tragic downfall? Horror fans don’t have to wait too long to find out that haunting answer.
When Does Evil Dead Rise Release?
Evil Dead Rise is releasing exclusively in theaters on April 21, 2023. It premiered in March at the South By Southwest film festival to rave reviews and Rise appears to be another scary good entry in the franchise. The marketing has done a spectacular job displaying that. While horror fans anxiously wait for the Deadites to return, you can watch Rise’s new April Fools teaser full of possessive love down below.
