2023.03.22 04:58 ashabash88 Trip Report - 3/8 to 3/19 - Osaka, Tokyo, Nagano with 8 people and some people with mobility issues
I lurked a bunch in this group before my trip so am hoping that a trip report will help others. We had a larger group and a couple people in the group are mobility challenged so some of my tidbits are unique to those aspects.
Some general notes:
-I got a pocket wifi from Ninja Wifi and it was great. I picked it up from Kansai and dropped off at Narita and it was so easy. I rushed through customs and had it before the others were all through. Others in the group were using their travel plans (T mobile and Verizon) and by the end of the trip most were just connecting to my wifi because it was much faster. It wasn't completely perfect and had a couple glitches here and there, but nothing that restarting the unit didn't fix. I did bring my own power bank and 100% needed it.
-We flew into Kansai and landed around 7pm. The entry at Kansai was a breeze. Everyone had done the Visit Japan ahead of time. We took screenshots but there is airport wifi in the customs area so we could have used that as well. We were through and had our bags within 30 minutes.
-It did take us a couple of days to get the hang of the various train lines, reading google maps, etc. A lot of the train station are huge as well so we learned to allow ALOT more time than google suggested for walking, especially since our group moved on the slower side. I tried to prep everyone to add Suica/Pasmo on their phones but myself and my mom were the only ones who actually did. Two people had physical IC cards from a previous trip but the other 4 kept putting it off and ended up not ever getting an IC card. It was a huge pain to stop and get tickets every time and they regretted it by the end of the trip.
-I had saved everything using Google's MyMap before we left but I ended up not using it very much. I chose it so I could color code locations but it didn't integrate very well into the app. I had to click on the saved maps every time I wanted to see what was around us, and you also can't add anything on the app. This could be user error as this was my first time using the MyMaps instead of a list but I'll probably go back to just creating a list within the app next time.
-We brought little goodies with us to hand out in lieu of tips and everyone loved them. Little things like mac nuts (we are from Hawaii) were received with much exclamation and appreciation.
-We were celebrating 3 different birthdays while we were there so we did reserve those dinners, since we had a larger party. We mostly split up for the rest of the meals. I can't speak to how easily we would have gotten in without reservations as we didn't try.
-Like everyone else, I HIGHLY recommend the luggage transfer services. It was so nice to take the train from city to city with just a backpack. We stayed in hotels in each place and the front desk handled it for us each time. I had a larger suitcase and it was about 2000 yen for each of the transfers (Osaka to Tokyo and Tokyo to Nagano). The only time we took our luggage was on the last train ride back to the airport and that's only because we forgot to ask how far in advance we would need to drop off and I was nervous about getting it in time for the flight. It probably would have been fine though. I also left my computer charger in Osaka and the hotel shipped it to me overnight. You usually pay when you drop off your bags but they let me pay that one upon pickup.
-Day 0 - Arrived in Osaka. We stayed at the Swissotel Nankai Osaka and it is located on top of Namba station. This hotel was recommended to us by a flight attendant who travels to Japan frequently and it was great for convenience being right at the train and metro station. It was a 10 minute walk to the Dotonbori area, which was about the maximum that my aunt could walk with her walker.
- Day 1 - day trip to Nara. I signed us up for a free tour with the YMCA EGG Club and it was fantastic. We did get a wheelchair from the Kintetsu station info office. They have exactly one available and it's first come, first serve but our guide said she has never seen anyone use it before. It was perfect for us as there was a lot of walking that day. A few things were not accessible but we could leave the wheelchair outside and my aunt could use her cane.
We split up after the tour to get lunch. Me and an auntie ended up at Maguro Koya for oo toro and it was the perfect first lunch in Japan. A true mom and pop but they did have an English menu and spoke great English. It was only a few blocks from the Kintetsu station as well. Auntie and I had a few cups of sake as well and after a lingering and delicious lunch we went back to the train station and back to Osaka.
After a nap, we took a couple of cabs to the Dotonbori area since we were running late for dinner. In hindsight, it was silly for all of us to cab since the able bodied could have walked in the same amount of time. We didn't know our way around yet, though, so we all just cabbed. Dinner was at the Kanidoraku crab restaurant on the Dotonbori. It was just OK, probably wouldn't go back as there are so many fantastic places in Osaka. After dinner we went to Donki for a little chaos. Uncle nearly had a panic attack at the crowds and needed to wait outside.
-Day 2 - day trip to Kyoto - Only half of us did this as the other half had been before. We wanted to see as much as possible in the day so we reserved a guided taxi tour with Doi Taxi. It was 40,000 yen for our group of 4 and up to 7 hours but there was no way we were going to get to see much if we had to walk and take busses. I had asked him to take us to one temple and requested few stairs and little walking. He started by driving us to Gion and we did get out and walk around a bit. I had requested lunch at Yudofu Sagano in Arashiyama and if you like tofu you must go there! We walked around the Tenryu-Ji temple and gardens after lunch, which was beautiful. The Arashiyama area was packed with people. I thought Gion would be the crowded area but it had nothing on Arashiyama. After the temple we headed back to the train station to go back to Osaka. We probably didn't get quite the bang for our buck that we could have but we were getting very tired.
-Day 3 - free day. We all did our own thing. Some went to Osaka Castle, some did the Aquarium, and some just wandered.
Day 4 - Osaka to Tokyo. The teenagers were not impressed that we woke them up to get to the train station early to get bentos. They would have preferred to sleep and grab Family Mart but the rest of us wanted to browse and pick out the perfect ekiben. The selection was not as large as I was expecting at Shin-Osaka but we did still get some goodies. The teenagers were not impressed by the Nozomi and slept but the rest of us enjoyed our bentos and scenery. We got some beers and highballs from the snack cart and noted that they only took cash or IC cards, not credit cards.
Our hotel in Tokyo was the Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu. It wasn't quite as nice as the Swissotel but had a prime location right on the Scramble and the rooms were decently sized for Japan. My uncle almost had a panic attack when we got out of the Shibuya Station and he saw all of the people but he got used to it. We booked this hotel pretty far in advance and got a great deal. When I checked closer to the trip (just for giggles) it was a lot more expensive.
Day 5 - Tsukiji Market in the morning for breakfast/lunch/shopping then TeamLab Planets. Nothing new to report about those activities but this day is when we started to have issues finding escalators and elevators in the train station. Several stations in Tokyo were under construction and there were a couple of times we couldn't find any accessible options. Luckily, our mobility challenged people aren't totally immobile and could take the stairs but it was very tiring for them. I did appreciate that most of the subways and trains (and busses) have screens that show the stops and the location of escalators and elevators but they weren't always accurate if there was construction.
I really wanted to go to the Shibuya Yokocho for dinner and everyone in the group liked that idea, even the teens. I didn't think there was any chance we would all be able to eat together but we went early just in case. To my surprise we did find one place that could seat exactly 8 (if we crammed, which we did) and it was wonderful. I have no idea what it is called since most of the signs outside are in Japanese but the ownechef/bartender is named Hiro. We had some of my favorite bites of the whole trip there including a uni miso omelet and blue cheese baked mochi. The "menu" was just slips of paper on the wall, all in Japanese, but it was fun to try and use Google Translate and pick random things based on the translation. The mochi, for example, translated as "blue rice". A few of the adults bar hopped after dinner and we had a great time at each place, but Hiro's was my favorite.
Day 6 + 7 - Random Tokyo wandering and nothing interesting or crazy to report. Uncle went to Golden Gai by himself and reported that he liked the Shibuya Yokocho better. He thought Golden Gai seemed like a larger, more touristy version.
We did go to Tokyo Skytree one of these days and for the love, make a reservation if you want to go there. They do let you buy tickets same day but the line was horrendous and we were regretting our lack of planning as we watched the people with reservations walk right up.
Day 8 - Tokyo to Nagano - Our group split at this point. Half started in Shibu Onsen for some relaxation and half went to Lotte Arai resort for some skiing. I was part of the Shibu group so I'll report mainly on that. We chose Shibu because it was close to the snow monkey park and for the onsen experience. Shibu has 9 "public" onsen that only locals and people staying in a ryokan in Shibu get a key for. Getting there was very easy. The shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagano took 1.5 hours and then the Dentetsu line to Yudanaka was about an hour. Our hotel picked us up at the train station.
Shibu was one of the highlights of the trip and it was especially relaxing after Tokyo. We stayed at the Shibu Hotel, which is a ryokan and family run for over 100 years. It was a bit of a splurge but we chose to include the kaiseki dinner and breakfast. The service was incredible. There are two brothers that are basically shuttling people around all day, to and from the train station and to and from the snow monkey park, and running the hotel. One of the wives and the mother run the front desk. The ryokan also has several public and private onsen for guests. It seemed like a lot of the ryokan in town were similar but as I've only stayed at Shibu Hotel I can only speak for them. Also important to note, they have a few rooms with Western style beds and an elevator, which is the main reason we stayed there. Most of the ryokan only offer Japanese style rooms, which I would have been fine with by myself but did not work for the group.
Shibu was very accessible, which I was not expecting. The town is tiny and the whole thing can be walked easily. Some of the little alleys weren't walker friendly but the main streets were tiled (I think), very smooth and wide enough for the walker. Not all of the onsen were accessible but most had a little step/s or railing so we could all participate. It was some family bonding for sure LOL
Day 9 - Snow Monkeys! We took the hotel shuttle to the park entrance and they even had snow boots for us, as the trail gets icy or muddy depending on the season. It was cold but not icy for us but we still appreciated the boots as it was a bit muddy in spots. It took us about 20 minutes to walk each way but I can see it taking much longer if there's snow or ice. There were so many monkeys and they were very unconcerned with people. No shit throwing or bag stealing was seen, unlike my previous monkey experience in Thailand. You could do this as a day trip from Nagano or even Tokyo very easily. This was not accessible as there are stairs at the beginning and end of the trip and auntie didn't want to try and walk a mile so she stayed at the hotel and enjoyed coffee in the lobby and browsing some of their homemade goodies (green onion miso, yum!).
We then took the local train back to Nagano and checked in to the Metropolitan Hotel, again right at the train station (have you sensed our preference yet). Lunch was at Misoya for my favorite ramen of the trip. I love me some miso. We saw the main temple in Nagano and visited the sake brewery close by.
Day 10 - Last full day and it was raining and cold. We didn't do a whole lot this day because of the rain but did some last minute shopping. At the Tokyu department store we found the best basement grocery with a bunch of food stalls so we grabbed a bunch of different foods and a bottle of local sake for lunch in the room.
Day 11 - Lunch at Misoya again before catching the Shinkansen back to Tokyo Station and then the Narita Express to the airport. We were pretty disappointed in the food and shopping options at Terminal 2, unfortunately. We left Nagano after lunch at 1:30 so had allowed extra time at the airport for dinner and some duty free shopping but nothing was open by the time we got through security at 6pm. We should have had dinner outside of security but we didn't realize nothing would be open. There was one little conbini that has some tuna musubi and egg salad sandwiches so that was dinner. We were more sad that the duty free was closed as we had been planning on buying some of our whisky and sake allotment there. We didn't come home empty handed but just less than we had planned.
Whew, that took awhile to write. I hope someone, somewhere finds any part of this helpful!

2023.03.22 04:40 hashtagperky Every couple months I get a not delivered report
Seriously...
Wtf is wrong with people?
I just got another today. I'm thinking it was the college kid who wanted their Safeway grocery order delivered to the "back" of the dorm room. He messaged me to place it outside. I did exactly that. LoL also no tip. It was $15.27 when I accepted and it was $15.27 when I completed drop off.
I am pretty sure it was this order that was reported as not delivered. I did 4 orders today and this was the only one without a tip.
Can Uber support see our in app messages? I hope they can see the messages because this kid specifically told me to do this without coming down. Even though, it was "meet the customer" I never met him because of his message he sent me.

2023.03.22 03:12 dudestir127 Pickups these days are the stroads of vehicles
I think I saw this on this sub one time, pickups these days are the stroads of motor vehicles. They try to be family vehicles, what you drive every day to your office job, what you get groceries with, and what you use to haul large items with, and they're horrible at all of it, just like stroads try to be roads and streets and are horrible at that.
Last Friday we had an off site meeting, our boss telling us to drive ourselves then we can go straight home for the weekend, no need to return to the office. Since I ride my bike, he didn't let me get a head start, but said I could put my bike in his Toyota Tacoma and he'd drive me. We bring my bike over to his truck and it won't fit. My 2017, 51", Felt Verza Speed 50 hybrid bike was too big to fit in the bed of my boss's Toyota Tacoma. He eventually told me if I ride there then no worries if I'm a little late and sweaty. (I ended up being the first one there because it was only 5 miles and a crash on the stroad clogged car traffic.)

2023.03.22 00:25 JokicATG Lost my girlfriend because I lost her pills
Long story short, I can have bad ADHD and it is really painful but when I went to pickup my ex's prescription, I got the pills and headed to the grocery store nearby to get her sprinkles for the ice cream we had at home.
On the way back, I realized I had misplaced her pills. I searched the entire store and pharmacy again, looking for those pills, and I never found them. It was only a 3 minute walk from my house, so it's pretty inexcusable.
I would do anything to go back in time and just bring her the pills. So frustrating.

2023.03.21 20:05 snack_intyre Set a new personal record today 😅
2023.03.21 19:59 missingmountains7 I am 33 Years old, just started a new job, and have $31,606 in Credit Card Debt
This was incredibly hard for me to write and admit., I'm sure I have forgotten important information and have errors.
DEEP IN DEBT DIARY TEMPLATE Title: I am 33 years old, making $80,000 salary ( just started new job ) plus $21,300. Spouse ( 39 )makes $40 per hour plus $14,200, and we have $77,313 debt not including our mortgage.
SECTION ONE: Background Job: Project Analyst ( new job ) & GIS Analyst
Industry: Finance
Location - MCOL, rural Texas
Context - I have worked for my MIL since 2015 with no benefits. My husband has worked for her since 2013 with no benefits. We were led to believe we would take over the business and have a really good secure income. Instead, we have made less than others in our same careers or near the same, but with no benefits, no paid holidays etc. We attempted to get the plan of action for us to take over starting in 2017, but were met with aggression and personality issues each time. It’s been a long mentally exhausting 5+ years. I have finally broken away.
SECTION TWO: Current Debt and Assets Credit card debt: Total Credit Card Debt $31,606.30. Breakdown: Card 1 ($10,799.30 out of $14,500) Card 2 ( $17,002.84 out of $18,000 ) Card 3 ( $0 out $0 ) Card 4 ( $3,805 out of $5,000)
Personal loans: $0
Medical debt: $0 paid down from $18,000
Student loan debt (for what degree). $12,534.18 Bachelors in Engineering Technology. Already paid off over $15,000. His grandparents and parents paid for his undergrad; he saved up ( before we met ) and paid for his master's.
Remaining mortgage balance if you’re a homeowner. $298,000 remaining. Originally 318,000 at 4.84%. Yearly Dividends are around $3,500-$3,800.
Auto loans: Truck $19,781.71
u/2.25%, small SUV $13,390.64 @ 2.25%
Any other type of debt and how you accumulated it (e.g., payday loans, title loans). N/a
Retirement balance (and how you got there). Around $5000-$6,000 for both of us. This was from putting some into accounts we opened a few years ago.
Equity $502,000
Our first house was purchased for $82,000 in December 2010 with low interest. We sold it 2016 for $115,000 to buy our land.
To buy our land, we put some of the equity towards credit card debt and the rest towards purchasing the land for $150,000 at a 15 yr fixed rate of around 5% interest rate. We “rebuilt” our house starting Nov 2019 with a refinance and construction loan in one. We didn’t put any down, it was 90% loan to value. The house we built made the value ( once complete ) more than the loan. Currently, the estimated appraisal is around $800,000 leaving $498,000 in equity. We didn’t purchase and build in a typical way. We bought the 45 acres for 150k 4% or so15 year loan 3 years before refinancing with a construction loan. We did put down $15,000 to purchase the land originally.
Savings account balance: $200
Checking account balance: averages $4000-$5000 to cover all bills etc.
Any other assets that are applicable to you.
SECTION THREE: Income Main Job Monthly Take Home aka Net Pay I just started my new job so I don’t know what the health insurance etc will look like. My salary is $80,000. My insurance is 80% covered. My husband makes $40/hour with no benefits besides two weeks of paid vacation.
Side Gig Monthly Take Home We have owned a business for 10 years. It is a contract that has been $30,000 per year until this year; it is now $35,500. This is very part-time, part of the year. We have always worked on this in our free time, until 2021 when I did work it as my main job for that year and a half. We have had our real estate licenses since 2016; we didn’t make any money until 2019. It ranged from $15,000-$30,000, was in 2021. He is quitting real estate and I recently also quit.
Any Other Monthly Income Here N/A
SECTION FOUR: Monthly Expenses Mortgage $1676

Parking/toll/gas/other transportation costs. $500-$700 we live out of town. It’s a 45-mile drive one way to go to a decent grocery store or to buy most things. Our town only has a tiny walmart ( limited options and bad produce ) and a very expensive small grocery store. He does get paid mileage but also has to have a 4x4 truck for work; although he doesn't work in the woods most days.
Regular therapy/other routine healthcare or wellness treatments. No insurance to cover it, but grandfathered in at $75 when I go. I/we used to go once or twice a month for years on and off. Our daughter did see a therapist last summer. She was $125 every two weeks for a couple of months.
Beauty/grooming not enough, honest. I may get a haircut twice a year and he gets his cut maybe once every few months. This will become more scheduled.
Paid hobbies nodda
Food/Drink Average $800 a month on groceries but during the worst times for us, $2000. I want to get this lower; we don’t buy meat so I feel like we need to do better planning.

Clothes $0. Our daughter has a uniform for school; I tend to buy when on clearance. I’ve rarely bought anything since quitting MIL.
Any other expense that's relevant to you.
SECTION FIVE: [Write your Deep in Debt Diary here]
Please provide a detailed history of your debt accumulation and payments, including your pay at the time, any strategies you used to target your debt, and anecdotes about your experience. Example:
2010-2014 Worked as a draftsman while getting my associates in drafting. I was honest with them from the beginning about going back for a bachelor's. The most I made was $15/ hour with benefits only in the last year of employment. We started our contract work in 2013 at $25,000 per year.
2014 went back to college for a bachelor's degree and got my first real credit card. I don’t recall my balance when I started working on it but I would say it was over 3k
. I also learned he had over 5k in cc debt when we started talking about combining our finances and working on debt. He was making $33 per hour with no benefits. Our contract was $25,000 per year which was broken up into equal payments over the year.
2016 -
2019 We combined out income and I took over finances completely with no help. I agreed to join the family business after finishing my degree in May 2016 and also got my real estate license ( boss MIL was also a broker). Worked full time from May until end of November when our child was born. I made $15-$25 in that time. We paid $800 per month for private insurance and had a traumatic delivery that came to another $18,000 after insurance coverage. I was scared of being one alone with my child; I had postpartum but didn’t tell anyone nor fully wanted to admit it to myself. Our daughter wasn’t easy going even as a baby, she had to be on my body at all times to be happy. She still gets bored easily. We spent a lot of money on stuff to entertain her at home; she never liked anything, not even a swing. We hired a nanny to be at our office with us full time from age 1 month to 3. We paid her $10 per hour in cash. Our daughter started pre-k at a private school at 3. $350 a month. Debt varied as always. I was at the office 40-45 hours but my boss used me to do real estate stuff she didn’t want to do which cut my hours to 30-32 per week hourly; I was never compensated for all of the real estate admin and website building. We both had our real estate licenses but never made anything until 2019-2022. It took up 8+ hours or so of my weekly hours then a lot of our weekends. In 2016, our contract work increased to $30,000 and payments changed to larger payments during our busy time of the year. I feel like that was when we started relying on that income to bail us out of debt.
Nov 2019-April 2020. Refinanced our land and did a construction loan to rebuild our house. Our daughter was out of school and at home with me working which was very hard. Our house was finished April 2020 two weeks before everything started shutting down further it seems. Debt was maybe around 10k because we forgot to plan for the carport that still doesn’t have a slab. It’s just dirt.
2020-2021 We told our boss MIL we were leaving the business. We were tired of the stress and chaos with her and low wages with no benefits. We were given raises ( $33 and $40 per hour ) to keep us there. I told her several months later in a formal notice I was quitting. I was guilt tripped and manipulated to stay; she stated we would make the changes necessary and I would start taking over her job. Of course nothing at all changed. I was a wreck and quit without notice 6 months later after trying again 2 months before because I was a serious mess. This hurt us financially because I wasn’t taking care of our finances and was too upset. I did take over our business contract work so we didn’t have to work on that during our free time. My husband was also a mess on and off, so we kept an emergency fund to support him quitting and finding a job. He told her twice he was quitting but could never follow through. We used up our emergency fund because we weren’t paying attention. Somehow spending 2k a month on groceries for several months. I hate that I have no clue how it happened and how much food waste we had.
2021-2023 I didn’t work for MIL from May 2021-October 2021 when I went back but only 10 hours per week. I went back because we needed the income. I typically worked 12 hours a week until leaving recently. We decided to move to Michigan; I feel like i sacrificed a lot staying in Texas ( I never wanted to ) and putting up with everything working for his mother and all the chaos and control that came with that. We will be moving end of May beginning on June. He still works for her and doesn’t have a set plan.
Reflection I feel like our lives have been a wreck the last 3-6 years and I refuse to fall back into it. I feel like not having benefits has hurt us more than we ever imagined it would. Just this year so far we’ve paid $2400 for his emergency root canal and crown. $400 for a consultation and CT scan for my nose for sinus issues. $3500 for a new fence for our dogs. It seems to never end.
I was upset with myself for awhile; I am trying hard to focus on the future. We need to learn to plan and save for large expenses. I am highly considering separating our finances and splitting everything proportionally. He has yet to actually help me with managing our finances although I have mentioned and asked numerous times. He is also supposed to be evaluated for ADHD. He does try and he’s a great partner besides his mom problems and not helping with finances. He thinks just not spending money is enough for our finances. Our therapist thinks us getting away ( even if it is only part of the year ) will change my husband and his dynamic with his mother. 2023.03.21 04:54 Deathbysnusnu42069 Contract violation for being late when I wasn’t even late?
Apart from Doordash and their fuckery today with going down during orders for a few hours I smelled something in the air! I knew the day was gonna get more annoying.
Long story short, I accepted an order to pickup pizza at 6:25 pm while I was dropping off groceries. I figured I’d be a little late but well before the violation of ten minutes. I cut it pretty close and arrived close enough at 6:34 to say I’ve arrived! If I was even a minute later obviously I’d drop it to avoid violation. I picked up and dropped it off within time given and moved on with my day and everything was honkey dorey!
Hours later I go to check my stats randomly like I usually do and it shows a violation, states that I was not 9 minutes late but 18 minutes late and showed up at 6:43 which makes absolutely 0 sense.
Of course I explained all this in a dispute and also explained this to the customer support when I called to bitch. Because it makes absolutely no sense to say I was 18 minutes late when their app should see that I clicked, which was that I was at the location at exactly 6:34 pm! I even triple checked before saying I arrived. Had it been 6:35 I’d have dropped it like a rock because that pesky 10 minute rule! So I arrived within time that no violation should have ever occurred yet it did.
Anyone else ever have this happen before? I had great reception too so I doubt that’s it.

2023.03.21 02:32 Ineed_mental_therapy I work as a campground worker in an undisclosed woody area in British Columbia, Canada.
| I've been working in this campground for about 3 years now, I'm tasked as a garbage collector around the area and I need to take care of any debris left in the vicinity. One day I stumbled upon an upright chassis of a pickup truck with its engine and bed in place, the bed was mangled and barely hanging on and so was the engine. The cab of the car was completely torn off along with the front of the truck. It seemed to be an old 1980's to 1990's Chevy. I'm not too good with cars, but not far from the chassis was the cabin of the truck itself, no driver. But there was a Chevy badge on the grille and a writing of '400HD' on the trim of the truck. When I was going back to tell the campground counselor, I stepped on what seemed to be some sort of dashcam which could have been hitched to the car itself. I told the campground counselor and advisor about the truck as I left to the administrator computer to debunk what happened. It started off with the truck driving up the hill, and it was broad daylight. But for some reason, no one else was on the road. But it looked just like the ones I drove on. But I shrugged it off as... our area isn't as popular as other campsites. Next; the car was going down a bridge which spanned over a cliff area to the other side. That's when I saw something out of the ordinary; seemingly fresh tar was splattered on the road up on the hill, but it was too far or me to see. I paused the clip and took a photo, but the photo made the pixilation even worse. Making it downright incomprehensible. I sighed and kept it, as it was the best one I can capture. Then, it drove over the bridge completely, and was making a sharp right up a hill. And for a moment, I saw a black figure with hair down to their shoulders peek around the corner of the mountain with white, void-like eyes and outline. Which disappeared to the shadows shortly after. I took a photo of it. But it was just too small to work with, but. If it works; it works. I was a bit hesitant as I knew around the bend was a collapsed part of the road which was supposedly being fixed up by government officials. But when the car drove over the hill, there was no cautionary tape or anything, no barriers around the dive. Nothing, and there was the woman-like figure again. It had the consistency of tar and asphalt as it sprawled wet cement toward the truck, making it slide toward the hole. The cement covering up the windows somewhat as well. Accompanied by a shriek of a female driver. Which sounded like my friend, Katherine. Who was supposedly going to pick up groceries for the campground. I paused the video as it slowly came back to me, Katherine DID own an old 1990's Chevy. Even the same cream colour as the one I saw completely decimated on the ground. I tried to keep myself calm, I assumed it as a coincidence. A really, really fucked up coincidence. I sighed and watched as the truck hit the ground, the cement shooting off it as the front window shattered. For a brief moment I saw the woman fall out of the car. It WAS, Katherine. She was covered in scrapes and bruises alongside what seemed like cement peeling at her skin. I started to sweat ad I felt like praying, But I was an atheist. I didn't believe in a god. I gagged as I tried to pause it, but the video didn't stop until it was completely done falling, showing the small path I had to walk on to get to this car. I stopped the video and saw the same, cream coloured Chevy truck pull into the parking lot down on the road. And saw "Katherine" holding grocery bags as she walked up the path to the camp area. I panicked and stuffed the dashcam in my pocket, I then walked past the fake Katherine, trying to not get noticed. "hey Noel!" the fake Katherine said to me, I tensed up as I turned to face her. "Heyyy!" I said nervously. "uh, I'm just going to get some stuff to fix up the computer! One of the kids accidentally installed a computer virus on it while we weren't looking." She tilted her head and raised an eyebrow, something the Katherine I knew always did when she was confused. "The computer? I thought we weren't supposed to bring the kids there!" I slightly panicked a bit. And I half-assed an excuse. "Well... I was a bit clumsy and didn't notice I left the door open, and a kid got ahold of it. The advisor is making me get a technician to fix up the computer." The fake Katherine smiled, and nodded. "right then! good luck~!" She then left. The thing fell for it, it fucking fell for it! I then ran to my car and sped off, but I completely forgot about the bridge area. When I came up to that spot, I slid to a stop. Wet tar and cement coated the wheels all of a sudden. I passed it off as a mistake and I hesitantly continued driving. Where I fled to a gas station up halfway the road when I noticed that Katherine's truck was near the bridge area, driving upward to the gas stop. I quickly refueled my car and got a drink before speeding upward the road. Not until the cement I drove over took a toll on my car and it dried up. Causing my steering to go stiff. I slammed on the brakes as the car slid like a stone, I look to the side, Noticing that Katherine's driverless truck was going toward me full force. I then noticed that in place of the driver seat, it wasn't driverless. But instead; it was the same tar woman I saw in the dashcam. Which rammed me off the side of the cliff. I felt the roof crush inward as I screamed in absolute horror, my car then wrapped around a tree and I ended up almost succumbing to a horrid fate, I sat on the ground, wounded and hurt as some cement peeled some skin off like it was a potato peeler. I then looked up to see the Tar woman stand in front of me, holding out their hand to mine as I felt a pain worse than death, my arm was taking the form on hers now. And my arm was gone. I begun to run away as I lost the thing trying to become me. I'm now hiding in between a bunch of trees and an outhouse, if anyone knows my location; Please. Send authorities, this creature wants anything but peace. But to kill almost any human organism in its path. the dashcam's view before I picked it up. My POV; the truck bed was completely bent over. the bridge part of the dashcam. The second photo, you can see that... tar woman, in between the trees. The tar woman's full body, it feels surreal and blurry. If I survive, I'll try my best to draw them. the last photo the cam picked up before the truck crashed. submitted by Ineed_mental_therapy to creepypasta [link] [comments] |

2023.03.20 22:24 seesoo3 LPT: When traveling bring a slow cooker/instantpot and save $$ food.
You can throw in food, leave for the day, return to dinner. I've also made breakfasts. Or cook dinner in an hour in the instant pot. Helps if you have a kitchenette, but there IS a sink in your bathroom to wash it in a pinch. Flying to your destination? Order groceries and a cheap crockpot ($20) via Walmart pickup. When you leave drop it off at a thrift shop. You still saved a bunch of money.

I’m in my late 20s, and so far in my life I’ve only had one girlfriend. She approached me first when I was 20 years old. We worked at a grocery store together, I was the bagger and she was the cashier. She immediately started using one liners and pickup lines on me, I don’t know how she knew I was gay. Lol I remember I was bagging wine for someone and the wine bottle tipped over. She just said “It’s okay, you’re just easy to fall for.” It was the best and worst relationship of my life. Sadly it was the highlight of my life. It was the only relationship I’ve had where I actually felt anything.
It hasn’t happened since, I don’t know why. I hate being single, I have work crushes, but I don’t want to be creepy or presumptuous so I don’t talk to any of them except for the occasional day when I’m feeling good about myself. I’m usually pretty cold. I wish I had the confidence she had.. that’s the only reason we really ended up together. Social anxiety makes it near impossible for me to approach people and I’m not particularly approachable myself. I wish it would happen again but I feel I’ll wait till I’m a 80 at this rate. Someone, APPROACH ME! So I don’t have to lol.
Stupid vent over. If anyone has any advice let me know lol. I want to meet someone IRL.

2023.03.20 20:21 Jemolk Minimum cases per hour in Dry Grocery?
Got a job offer today for a grocery night crew position. During the interview I stated I was capable of throwing 70 cases per hour minimum (including facing as I go) once I got to know the shelves; The hiring manager told me she thought the company was looking for 100 cases per hour minimum and that I would need to get a bit faster.
I'm not a stranger to retail. I was foreman at a Kroger store for some time and understand that management often "stretches the truth" (ie lies) about minimum cases per hour to boost productivity, something I couldn't reconcile with my previous dept lead and ended up quitting over. But 100 cases per hour seems like an absurd lie, coming from a Kroger store with a minimum 60 CPH.
Safeway vets, have you ever heard of an official 100 case per hour minimum throwing rate for grocery night crew, or was the hiring manager spouting bull?

2023.03.20 08:37 itechnolabs A Complete Breakdown Cost to Build a Pickup and Delivery App
| https://preview.redd.it/6qv569zykuoa1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=9645e004ca06f392eefda81e11d8bb347dcadf9f Today advanced technology is adopted by every sector of business. Whether you want to pay your bills, order food, fill out any form, or use pickup and delivery apps, everything is available at just one tap. Applications that are available on demand offer practical solutions to common problems. The 2019 pandemic’s legacy has paralyzed the whole planet and wreaked havoc across all business sectors. Furthermore, it won’t be inaccurate to say that COVID-19 was a financial failure. Nearly every industry globally is going through a difficult time; large corporations are announcing layoffs, local firms are closing, and people are losing their jobs. The on-demand delivery industry has grown significantly in these times and has emerged as a possible business alternative. If you need to figure out the Cost to build a pickup and delivery app, you’ve arrived in the right place. Why Are Pickup and Delivery Apps So Popular? The reasons for the increased acceptance of pickup and delivery companies, as indicated by the marketplace, are as follows: - Since 73% of consumers say they are purchasing online more frequently now than before the pandemic, there is a greater need for delivery services.
- Typically it takes 3–5 business days for standard shipping to arrive. Even grocery deliveries now happen in a matter of hours, which has raised consumer demand for on-demand delivery services.
These figures demonstrate that timeliness is crucial when ordering fulfillment and retail shipping services. The development of the online retail industry has had a favorable impact on the parcel delivery industry, increasing its potential. However, it creates additional challenges in achieving service goals while maintaining customer satisfaction. However, by working with a mobile app development business and utilizing the best features, functionality, and tactic stack, you can go a long way toward providing an excellent user experience and guaranteeing consumer delight. How do Pickup and Delivery Work? The businesses developing on-demand models for their logistics and mail delivery services are peer-to-peer delivery companies that use cutting-edge equipment to deliver almost anything. This firm provides delivery solutions to private, public, and non-profit customers. Below we have mentioned how pickup and delivery apps work with the help of a few points: - After you download your preferred application and sign up, it decides on the pickup address delivery date with the help of GPS tracking of your location.
- If you are now the actual person who will receive the parcel, include the information of the primary receiver.
- Explain what you are going to send or receive to your pickup agent.
- Confirm your order and proceed.
The pickup delivery smartphone app notifies you when the driver accepts the delivery. The good news is that when you confirm, you may communicate with your pickup agent directly and track the progress of your delivery using the pickup delivery app chat tool. Your pickup agent will deliver your stuff when and whenever you need it. Users of apps must pay a predetermined price; however, this fee is modest and well within your means. How to Build a Pickup and Delivery App For Your Business? Unquestionably it is a wealthy business possibility; starting the cost to build a pickup and delivery app is a great concept. One of the most challenging things is figuring out how to turn your app idea into a reliable solution precisely as you have anticipated. The precise assessment of the needs of your intended customers and the potential market is a significant hurdle you must overcome. The following recommendations can help you to analyze the cost to build a pickup and delivery app : 1. Understand the Requirements of the Customers Such innovative apps need help to support users’ needs. Therefore, to build a pickup and drop-off app, you must know whom you are addressing and whether your app idea meets their demands. Do extensive research into the demands of your end consumers and keep your app focused on meeting their needs 2. Analyze and research the latest market behavior The most significant error is when companies must avoid the market analysis phase and dive into the development stage. Maintain a close eye on what they are providing, their rankings, reviews, the continuity of digital innovations, and more if you are fighting with rivals in the market. 3. Look For MVP Development Creating a full-featured pickup and delivery app costs money and time. However, launching your app idea with a minimal viable product (MVP) solution makes sense. Using the MVP solution, you may monitor and gather feedback from your intended audience. To market it, create a basic version of your software on a tight budget. These are the fundamental processes in creating a mobile application. Although producing an app is expensive, people are still deciding whether it will be in demand on the market rather than developing something new. Consider these fundamental guidelines when creating apps for pickup and drop-off services to choose the proper functionality. I (21F) forgot my walet at home while grocery shopping (ice cream was part of the trip) I was in a rush to avoid it melting within the time to come back with my wallet. When I ran home I opted to park the pickup on the side of the road instead of my driveway, I ran to my SUV to grab the payment method that was sitting on the passenger seat and the passenger door was locked, so I ran to the drivers side that I left unlocked. I then grabbed my wallet and ran back to the pickup. There was someone behind me that had refused to go around my car so I pulled into the driveway to let him go around. I had looked over while he was driving past and was very obviously recording me. I'm thankful that someone is cares enough but definitely weird that a 50+ year old man wanted to record a young female
