Trigger warning - speculation about one of the sub’s most canonical premises - the “Ride Request.”
In the recent Info post https://www.reddit.com/serialpodcast/comments/11r01sq/the_ride_request/ I posted an 8/4/1999 defense memo that has a line I hadn’t noted before:

There is documentation that Adnan called Jay from school to get his car back (2:36 incoming call). Jay said exactly that in his first interview, as noted by both Ritz and McGillivry:
“Adnan called again @ about 2-30 2-45 wanted a ride. Wanted Jay to pick him up. Pick - High's School Store 3pm Jeff [G redacted] took Jay to High School. Met Stephanie @ School. Back Lot”
“[Adnan] called back and needed a ride 2:30 - quarter til 3, caught a ride w/ Jeff . . . Walked down to High School Store Jeff drove him to the High School. Met girl friend in back parking lot.”
Jay repeated this when contacted by the HBO doc: “In the phone conversation, (Jay) contradicted past statements by suggesting he tried to return Adnan’s car at school, but couldn’t find him and left."
Adnan also thought Jay came back to the high school at 3: “Adnan questions whether upon Jay’s return to school to return the car to Adnan he saw Hae in the parking lot who would have been leaving at 3 p.m”
Speculation: when Adnan spoke with Adcock he was high (as he said he was), and rambled a bit talking about giving his car to Jay, asking Hae for a ride which she canceled after their last class, so he called Jay (2:36), but he didn’t see Jay at the school so he got tired of waiting and left.
For Adcock recalling the conversation, it would have been very easy to transpose Jay for Hae, even easier to transpose “he” for Hae. When Adcock wrote these notes up and hadn't been clear during the conversation about how someone named Jay fit into the picture, he mixed up what Adnan said about Jay as if he'd been talking about Hae.
Later Adnan is asked about the ride by O’Shea and doesn’t repeat that Hae got tired of waiting for him and left because it wasn’t what he originally said.

Shipping is from Honolulu, Hawaii via media mail for an added $5 on the listed price. Shipping only to US. All opened records are packaged outside of their covers inside poly outer sleeves. LPs are placed in either antistatic rice-paper inner sleeves or plain white inner sleeves as opposed to their custom printed sleeves. This doesn't apply to sealed records.
Note: Shipping via media mail from Hawaii can take up to 4-8 weeks according to USPS. If you'd like to switch to Priority Shipping, I can come up with an accurate shipping quote depending on the records you purchase. Priority generally comes out to an average of $15, but again, it all depends on the titles you purchase. However, I so far haven't had any issues with media mail; Previous sales have taken a maximum of 3 weeks to arrive.

Hi all!
Next Monday I have my road test for my full G license. My G2 is set to expire in June, so I really waited until the last second here, which is a bit stressful and I'm really hoping to pass the first time around. I am going to 'practice' a lot on the weekend (I am a confident driver and have made 8hr road trips so far, but I just haven't driven in a few months since I moved out), and I was wondering if the modified G test was still in place? Like no 3-point turns or parallel parking?
Also just wondering what I should really focus on or what really 'gets' people in a sense. I know some people may come for me and say "Well if you're a good driver you will pass", which I completely agree with, but for example my ex took his drivers test and made sure (according to him) to always check the rearview mirror a lot, but the driving instructor said he didn't and also that he didn't stop far enough away from other cars to see their tires so he failed. He made it super obvious (mirror checking) for the next test and passed. Just stuff like that.

I had my baby shower recently. It was a small gathering with a little family and a couple of friends. For the most part I enjoyed it. Gifts were a little lackluster but I still appreciate it all because nobody even had to buy anything!
Onto my main rant/vent. I got so many baby clothes it was excessive and frankly a little annoying but whatever. I finally went through it all, got everything washed, etc and was just sorting through the sizes. 98% of it is NEWBORN AND 0-3 MONTHS and i got maybe 4 pajamas out of both of those sizes, combined. There's so much that she might wear half of them before she grows out of them. As a bonus, my baby's due date is in the summer. I live in a humid, hot area where most of my baby's summer will be spent indoors and away from the blistering sun & heat. I'm not letting my baby get heatstroke or some shit so 90% of the cutesy outfits aren't going to be worn. My daughter is going to lounge in onesies so there are less clothes to remove for diaper changes, blowouts, etc.
I'm just so frustrated because the majority came from my in laws and THEY WERE TOLD TO GET THE BIGGER SIZES. Even if they weren't, you'd think they'd buy bigger sizes when, yanno, they realize that got enough of the nb & 0-3 to last 8 months with outfit changes every houevery other hour. They bought this all in 1 day, mind you. Don't even get me started on how I think some of the clothes are ugly and just... not my style, I guess? Like, I'm not putting my kid in something I don't find cute, yanno?
I DIDNT EVEN GET DIAPERS OR WIPES. Excuse me? Not a single pack of diapers? Really? Like, probably the most important thing that babies need and I didn't get any? What the fuck?? Who doesn't buy diapers for a baby shower?! That's what blows my mind - everybody I know brings at least a small pack of diapers as a gift. Even if it's the only thing you bring. It was nothing or diapers a/o wipes. I would have appreciated reusable diapers even though I don't want to use them.
Then I start getting asked about the "big" stuff - furniture/anything g expensive. I tell them "shop off the registry." "It's on the registry" half of them drop it or try to buy off the registry but not say anything and then you have my dad who wants to argue and say he didn't like anything on the registry. AND?! It's not going to your house or for your kid, dad, it's coming to mine. And how do you not like it?? Most of it is black in color and simple. I don't need things that are bedazzled or cost an extra $100 just because it's overly fancy for no reason.
So, I'm now spending my time making a priority list of everything we still absolutely NEED and ranking it order of cost because now that I was put on bedrest, were down to 1 income. We can cover our bills and we do have a couple grand in savings so we can afford everything we need. However, we'd rather try not to touch the savings, so, we need to prioritize the necessities to buy each week and it's just so stressful, annoying, and frustrating. & I still need to buy some things for my to-go bag (I was putting this off because I don't want to eat the snacks, anything to get lost or accidentally used if I bought it months ago.
Can't really say aby of this to anybody because I know everybody will think I'm just being ungrateful, which maybe I am without realizing it, I don't know. I love this community and actually feel a lot better being able to get this out there, I wanted to cry in frustration while going through it all.

When ONE launched I picked up the Corrupting Influence precon. After making a few adjustments with cards from my pool I've found the deck very fun to play. Ixhel List
After seeing a videos of [[Ezuri, Stalker of Spheres]] and [[Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus]] doing a lot of work with Proliferate I decided to take a crack at adjusting the deck to be helmed by [[Atraxa, Praetors' Voice]]. Atraxa List
I wanted to keep the focus of the deck revolving around Toxic and Proliferating rather than one-shotting with a surprise Infect.
Atraxa is the #1 commander on EDHRec and Toxic is the hot mechanic from the latest set. I'm hoping that others who've been able to play both, or have had more exposure to Atraxa at the helm, could give some suggestions on any swaps or adjustments to the deck!

Finding it really hard right now not to get completely blackpilled, and I know it's pointless to dwell on this shit but fuck me, what a waste. People are struggling to feed themselves and keep their homes heated, all whilst these fucking Globalist cunts get obscene bonuses and wasted TRILLIONS on draconian lockdowns, useless PPE, a fucking pathetic and broken track and trace system, and cringey, Soviet style propaganda. Oh, and not to mention funding a war in Ukraine and housing illegal migrants in 4 star hotels at the taxpayer's expense.
Where's the fucking anger? Where's the fucking RAGE!? Why the fuck are people so infantilized and impotent? These absolutely evil CUNTS lied to you, stole years off your life, and put us all into financial ruin, for fuck's sake! Yet somehow we're the fucking villains for pointing out the obvious? For warning all of you smug, ungrateful cocksuckers that this was a massive scam and that you were all being played.

Maybe pay some fucking carers or healthcare workers to isolate with them so they can be looked after, I don't fucking know but that's already a better plan than the absolute cluster-fuck we were put through.

While I do agree with some of the things Angry Joe/Joe Vargas says, especially here that EA and NBA had been doing greedy practices to exploit children and make bigger profits, he is still being hypocritical in certain areas, like calling out the entire sports game community for simply buying the game and paying for microtransactions, when he DOES THE SAME THING HIMSELF.
I know for a fact that he paid for micropayments in DC Legends himself, and also bought the game, while he disallows people to buy it. I really despise the idea of reviewers disallowing others to buy subpar products and certain other things they are reviewing, whilst they do the same thing. This is blatant hypocrisy, whilst Joe Lopez/Other Joe, and Alex, are no exception to that either. I may still respect those guys, but that doesn't mean that I am not above still calling each of them out when they screw up.
Another point that I need to bring up, is that customers purchasing products of subpar quality, is something that is inevitable, there's nothing you can do about it. Besides the point, Not everybody is going to catch wind of what was said in terms of this situation if disallowing them.

These replies pretty much sums up how I think of Angry Joe in simultaneously liking and disliking him.
He's also a vile, arrogant bully, a sick, dangerous demagogue, a hypocrite, and a fake outrage monger that misleads his own audience to believe that the regressive left (which is 100% true in their definition and word usage), as well as the fake outrage mobs, as "social justice warriors" (SJWs) when in reality, it was a term that was warped and distorted by another certain demagogue into believing that's what they are, when really, they are actually called either the regressive left, or in an alternate and more general case, fake outrage mobs.
He really needs to drop this sort of agenda online, repair his reputation from going downhill, and stop being a belligerent di** to almost everyone when they try to oppose whatever controversial stuff you do and say. Do that, and you will risk souring your reputation. Simple as that.
There is yet another point I need to bring up in regards to social media as a whole, (especially media in general in some areas). While social media sounds good on paper, at least admittedly, the way it was worked on wasn't even thoroughly thought through, and while there are some rules that are against moral wrongsies and in general bad behavior, there is not even that many of them to ensure that the social media sites are much safer. In the same vein as reality TV, like the infamous Jeremy Kyle Show, is a breeding ground of lies, deceit, demagoguery, bigotry, hypocrisy, modern-day pillory, voyeuristic enjoyment of in real life (IRL) dramas, disrespect, toxic cynicism, and the list goes on and on. This is why I firmly believe that social media is an absolute embarrassment of a social experiment, more so than reality television.
And there is another video that entails how bad and dangerous social media has become. There is also a video that Jaron Lanier had created, where he plans to fix social media platforms with Data Dignity. Here are the two videos that I have mentioned right now, one about why social media distorts society and among other things, and one that Jaron Lanier made. This is why I am advocating Jaron in the present day.
Now I am not saying that social media has zero purpose, because they are indeed useful in the sense of creating content, communicating with your well-trusted friends, and having a platform to voice opinions. But there does need to some certain lines that should not be crossed.

The consensus among scientists and economists on carbon pricing^§ to mitigate climate change is similar to the consensus among climatologists that human activity is responsible for global warming. Putting the price upstream where the fossil fuels enter the market makes it simple, easily enforceable, and bureaucratically lean. Returning the revenue as an equitable dividend offsets any regressive effects of the tax (in fact, ~60% of the public would receive more in dividend than they paid in tax) and allows for a higher carbon price (which is what matters for climate mitigation) because the public isn't willing to pay anywhere near what's needed otherwise. Enacting a border tax would protect domestic businesses from foreign producers not saddled with similar pollution taxes, and also incentivize those countries to enact their own. A carbon tax is widely regarded as the single most impactful climate mitigation policy.
Conservative estimates are that failing to mitigate climate change will cost us 10% of GDP over 50 years, starting about now. In contrast, carbon taxes may actually boost GDP, if the revenue is returned as an equitable dividend to households (the poor tend to spend money when they've got it, which boosts economic growth) not to mention create jobs and save lives.
Taxing carbon is in each nation's own best interest (it saves lives at home) and many nations have already started, which can have knock-on effects in other countries. In poor countries, taxing carbon is progressive even before considering smart revenue uses, because only the "rich" can afford fossil fuels in the first place. We won’t wean ourselves off fossil fuels without a carbon tax; the longer we wait to take action the more expensive it will be. Each year we delay costs ~$900 billion.
Just eight years ago, only 30% of the public supported a carbon tax. Four years ago, it was over half (53%). Now, it's an overwhelming majority (73%) – and that does actually matter for passing a bill. But we can't keep hoping others will solve this problem for us.
Build the political will for a livable climate. Lobbying works, and you don't need to outspend the opposition to be effective (though it does help to educate yourself on effective tactics). According to NASA climatologist and climate activist Dr. James Hansen, becoming an active volunteer with Citizens' Climate Lobby is the most important thing you can do for climate change. Climatologist Dr. Michael Mann calls its Carbon Fee & Dividend policy an example of the sort of visionary policy that's needed. And having more volunteers helps.
It's the smart thing to do, and the IPCC report made clear pricing carbon is necessary if we want to meet our 1.5 ºC target.

According to IMF research, most of the $5.2 trillion in subsidies for fossil fuels come from not taxing carbon as we should. There is general agreement among economists on carbon taxes whether you consider economists with expertise in climate economics, economists with expertise in resource economics, or economists from all sectors.
