Proud Principled Patriots.
2017.08.28 04:37 Radical Feminism for All Women
This is a place for women to discuss sexism & racism (and how those 2 beasts so often interconnect), as well as a place for women to discuss feminism, female empowerment, and political issues in general. This is a place where ALL women are centered in the conversations, not just white women, and not just het women.
2013.01.10 18:59 True Gun Control: Gun Control News and Discussion for Reasonable People
Subreddit for those who are in FAVOR of Gun Control.
2023.04.02 09:52 12nb34 Let me put it like this. As far as I can get the idea of this divine intervention, the idea of this intervention is to prove to this dumb hoonam pond slime that they are no Martin-Luther-Kings and Mahatma-Gandhis. They are just a herd of idiots on rampage
2023.04.02 08:26 EngineSpecialist259 An observation from an outsider
I'm really disturbed by the way many Catholics talk about priests, and especially the Pope. And I'm not even Catholic (yet)!
Before David became king, Saul made numerous attempts on his life, yet David respected Saul and never spoke ill of him. Both 1 Chronicles 16:22 and Psalms 105:15 tell us, "Touch not my anointed ones, and do my prophets no harm!” All priests, whether it's Father Joe down the street wearing the MAGA cap or James Martin loving LGBT people, are anointed by God and by His Holy Church. Just as Jesus told the disciples to respect the Pharisees because they sit in the seat of Moses, we must respect these men whom God has chosen to lead His people. Even if we don't agree with them, we don't know their hearts. We have no right to say things that call into question their love for God or their salvation, for instance.
"But EngineSpecialist259," you say, "They've said something I don't agree with! Someone, somewhere is
wrong!"
God gave us a hierarchy for a reason. We have Scripture, the Magisterium, tradition, and Christ Himself to guide us. When you put your own personal opinion or interpretation above that of the Church- congratulations, you just became a Protestant.
Remember, our enemy prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Gossip is a deadly poison, and it's one that Pope Francis is particularly working hard to combat. Bishop Barron has a great YT video about it:

2023.04.02 06:36 dogbytes Folk singers Peter, Paul & Mary perform 'Blowin' in the Wind' at the March on Washington on August 28, 1963. Martin Luther King's speech was preceded by performances from Mahalia Jackson, Marion Andersen, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and PP&M with approximately 300,000 people in attendance.[610X387]
2023.04.02 04:04 im_am_turtle_fb I'm not good but I could I still sign up.
2023.04.02 03:58 TheAirNomad11 Books about Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.
Malcolm X and MLK are both people I want to learn more about. I feel like I know the basics but I want to learn more about the important historical figures. What are the best books about either of them? I've considered getting the Autobiography of Malcolm X on audible but does anyone know if there is a better one? Or is that one pretty good? There seem to be a lot about MLK so I'm not sure which one would be best.
Thanks!

2023.04.02 00:04 Green_Indication4530 Please helpe solve this math problem
Obama's three sons- Laquan, DaTrell and ShaTronis set up a pimping service on the corner or Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. Their three 15yo black hos make $50 an hour.
If Obama's sons need $500 each for a gold chain, then how many hours do their hos have to work?
They said this was a trick question and it's not 30 hours.
Update: My math teacher said the answer is 0. Obama's sons would just steal the chain.

2023.04.01 23:47 InGenNateKenny (Spoilers Extended) TWOW Prologue Character Theory: The Foul-Lipped Man
Good day, fellow readers. I have assembled quite possibly the greatest TWOW prologue character theory ever devised on this day in 2023,
a theory I have only seen one other person have, and they weren’t even talking about TWOW and were also joking — although, for reasons you shall understand if you think about it, I avoided conducting a Google search and stuck to looking at Reddit and westeros.org, so apologies if I am claiming something I was not the first to seriously theorize— that I guarantee it will leave your lips agape and your mouth frothing for me. TWOW prologue character is the Foul-Lipped Man, a character who has appeared in two books and is crucial to the plot and messaging of ASOIAF.
Drum roll please...
The identity of the prologue POV character…is…
SHITMOUTH!
Please hold your applause. And prepare your tissues. This is NOT a complete joke!
Shitmouth, also known as “The Mouth that Shits” and the “The Shit That Mouths”, is perhaps the central character of ASOIAF. After all, from his mouth comes the beautiful music at the heart of the titular Song. And today on this fine day, I am going to try and convince you that Shitmouth, First of His Name, is TWOW’s prologue character.
Background to TWOW Prologue In July 2015, Martin revealed that Jeyne Westerling, last seen in Jaime VII in AFFC, would in TWOW prologue. Since that claim was nearly eight years ago, it may no longer be true based on his writing process; nonetheless, it is the most authoritative statement we have on the prologue, suggesting it takes place in the Riverlands or Westerlands.
Recall that in Jaime VII in AFFC, after ending the siege of Riverrun, Jaime ordered Ser Forley Prester to lead a column of 400 westermen to escort Jeyne and Edmure Tully to the Westerlands; he had doubled the escort twice over fear of a raid by Brynden Tully and ordered its archers to kill Edmure or Jeyne if either try to escape. The force initially included 20 knights; it is unclear if this number was doubled and then doubled again, but in any case, it is primarily comprised of men-at-arms.
Here are characters that we know for sure are in this column: Prester, Edmure, Jeyne, her mother Lady Sybell Spicer, her father Lord Gawen Westerling, brother Rollam, and her sister Eleyna, and Whitesmile Wat the singer.
In addition to the possibility Martin has changed the prologue since 2015, I acknowledge that he could have been toying with us if he considers flashbacks, dreams, or visions as an appearance. For argument’s sake let’s assume Martin’s word is still valid and that Jeyne is physically present in the POV.
Most readers speculated that this column will be attacked either by the Brotherhood without Banners or Nymeria’s wolf pack, or even a combination of the two, in an attempt to free Edmure and Jeyne. I think those are reasonable hunches; it is hard to theorize beyond those two, because since prologue characters are doomed (although Martin has mentioned he likes to break rules, so this pattern could be subverted), it would suggest something else dangerous happens – and we don’t know of other obvious threats in the Riverlands and Westerlands at the moment. For theorizing sake, we will assume that BWB or Nymeria scenarios are the most likely events to occur in this prologue.
The most popular picks for the prologue POV are Prester and Sybell Spicer. I’ve also seen Jeyne herself, Edmure, Thoros of Myr, Gawen Westerling, the Blackfish, Watsmile Wat, Olyvar Frey, Raynald Westerling, Tom O' Sevens, Maester Vyman, Daven Lannister, Ilyn Payne, Tytos Brax, Addam Marbrand, Watty, Merrit O' Moontown, Jon O' Nutten (all Brotherhood members), Lem Lemoncloak, Edric Dayne, Harwin, Podrick Payne, Brienne of Tarth, Maester Creylen, the Ghost of High Heart a random Lannister soldier, and even Lady Stoneheart theorized. Seems that everyone in the Riverlands or Westerlands is a suspect.
Ilyn Payne was once a very popular choice, but he stayed behind with Jaime; Vyman, Tom, and Daven also all remained at Riverrun, so unless Jeyne appears in a flashback or the chapter starts before the separation in Jaime VII in AFFC, the POV is probably not them. Brax went to Casterly Rock with Tywin’s corpse and Marbrand led the search for the Blackfish to the south of the Red Fork of the Trident; these guys are far off although in theory could appear. Creylen is Casterly Rock’s maester, he’s far off too. Brienne and Podrick are in an opposite direction That is all to say that while the speculated list is larger, the strong candidate section is considerably smaller. Martin also has stated that the POV is not necessarily Jeyne, even if she is appearing.
But how could Shitmouth even be the POV? We first meet Shitmouth in ACOK, where he is part of the group Mountain’s men scouting-slash-pillaging in the Riverlands. Arya thinks that he is one of the nicer ones:
Though the one they called Shitmouth had the foulest tongue she had ever heard, he'd give you an extra piece of bread if you asked, while jolly old Chiswyck and soft spoken Raff would just give you the back of their hand (Arya VI, ACOK)
We next saw Shitmouth in Jaime III in AFFC at Harrenhal, where he and the rest of the Mountain’s men were fooling around, leaderless, with “Ser” off to King’s Landing to die and become some Frankenzombie thing and their castellan, Polliver, dead by Sandor Clegane at the inn at the crossroads in ASOS. In perhaps the most emotional, heart-warming scene in the entire book, Shitmouth meets Jaime:
“Fuck me, Jaime Lannister,” blurted one grey and grizzled man-at-arms. “It’s the bleeding Kingslayer, boys. Fuck me with a spear!”
“Who might you be?” Jaime asked.
“Ser used to call me Shitmouth, if it please m’lord.” He spit in his hands and wiped his cheeks with them, as if that would somehow make him more presentable.
“Charming. Do you command here?”
“Me? Shit, no. M’lord. Bugger me with a bloody spear.” Shitmouth had enough crumbs in his beard to feed the garrison. Jaime had to laugh. The man took that for encouragement. “Bugger me with a bloody spear,” he said again, and started laughing too.
“You heard the man,” Jaime said to Ilyn Payne. “Find a nice long spear, and shove it up his arse.”
Ser Ilyn did not have a spear, but Beardless Jon Bettley was glad to toss him one. Shitmouth’s drunken laughter stopped abruptly. “You keep that bloody thing away from me.” (Jaime III, AFFC)
Shitmouth and Rafford tell him some of the happenings of Harrenhal, like why they just didn’t do anything about Polliver dying (“I never much liked Polly, that shit, and the dog, he were Ser’s brother, so . . .”). Jaime tells the Mountain’s men to either join Bonifer Hasty, Harrenhal’s new castellan, or “ride with me to Riverrun”) (Jaime III, AFFC). Hasty offers land in exchange for those men who serve him. Shitmouth doesn’t bite any of the crap:
Ser Bonifer raised a glove hand. “Any man who remains with me shall have a hide of land to work, a second hide when he takes a wife, a third at the birth of his first child.”
“Land, ser?” Shitmouth spat. “Piss on that. If we wanted to grub in the bloody dirt, we could have bloody well stayed home, begging your pardon, ser. Rich rewards, Ser said. Meaning gold.” (Jaime III, AFFC)
Shitmouth has priorities. Shitmouth knows what he wants, and it is not at Harrenhal with Hasty. “Rich rewards, for them as rides with me [the Mountain].” Besides, Hasty tells Jaime that he “want[s] none of Ser Gregor’s followers…I will not have such sinners in my service. Jaime agrees to “take Gregor’s lot off your hands”, thinking that they would “send them up the ladders first, should he need to storm Riverrun” (Jaime III, AFFC). Shitmouth would be one of them, so it seems he went; for its part, the TWOIAF app states that Shitmouth joined Jaime. Based on evidence, it is reasonable to believe that Shitmouth has gone onto Riverrun. We know Rafford made it to Riverrun, at the very least, so why not Shitmouth (Jaime V, AFFC).
Jaime shows several times that he does not want to deal with the Mountain’s men; in Jaime IV, he tasks Ser Ronnet Connington with leading Ser Wylis Manderly from Harrenhal to Maidenpool to be returned to White Harbor (Jaime IV, AFFC). Mountain’s men go with him; 20, most of them Mountain’s men, reach King’s Landing with Connington by the time Kevan is murdered. There were probably more than 20, as Lord Randyll Tarly mentions gelding one and executing another for crimes, they committed in Maidenpool (ADWD, Epilogue). Additionally, in Jaime VII of AFFC, Jaime sends a dozen Mountain’s men led by Rafford the Sweetling to escort Ser Robin Ryger and Ser Desmond Grell from Riverrun to Maidenpool so they can take the black (Jaime VII, AFFC).
400 soldiers are a substantial amount for a column, and we know there is a maximum of 60 knights in there (again, unclear if the 20-knight figure was doubled and then doubled again) – so there are a lot of men-at-arms. What better way to get rid of more Mountain’s men than to send them with Prester? Jaime no longer has use for them as arrow fodder with Riverrun captured, he doesn’t particularly enjoy the baggage they bring, and, if nothing else, they are good swords and would be useful in protecting the column. It makes sense then that Jaime sent another contingent of the Mountain’s men, including our very own Shitmouth, with the column. If he’s in the column, as a POV character he would have a clear opportunity to see Jeyne Westerling and witness – and, sadly, perish in – an attack by the Brotherhood and/or the wolf pack.
Thus, based on the text, there is a non-zero chance that Shitmouth could be TWOW prologue POV. But why Shitmouth? Why not? It might seem a crappy idea to have Shitmouth as the prologue POV considering the other potential characters. Of the list I mentioned above, Spicer and Prester are the most popular picks since we know they are with Jeyne. However, I think there are two main problems with these two.
First, they are too obvious. Let’s put ourselves in Martin’s head for a moment. He announces that Jeyne Westerling will be the prologue. He knows that readers are going to think that the chapter takes place in the Westerlands or Riverlands. He knows that readers know which characters are with Jeyne in the column. Would he then pick a POV that was immediately obvious based on that list? Prester and Spicer are too easy. Maybe I’m giving Martin too much credit, but he likes to surprise people, and I don’t think Prester or Spicer would achieve that – he explicitly told us, unforced, that Jeyne would be in it. Fans immediately jumped to guessing Prester and Spicer because of how much sense they would make. Would he really choose one of them?
Second, there is a heavy bias towards nobility for main POV characters — the only main POVs who are not noble born are Areo “The Camera that Rides” Hotah, Melisandre, and Davos — and even Davos is already a knight by the start of story and all three are highly-placed servants/advisors to powerful noblemen. The rest of the POVs are highborn.
On the other hand, most of the prologue characters (Will, Chett, Pate, and Varamyr) are lowborn. Cressen could have been too, but we don’t know. He probably was not since he ended up being a maester of an important castle, but even so, being a noble-born maester is clearly different than being Bran Stark or Kevan Lannister or Asha Greyjoy. ASOIAF prologues give voice to perspectives otherwise not represented; since we have no regular smallfolk POV, these chapters are among Martin’s best chances to explore their feelings.
Shitmouth, in one of the greatest travesties of the series, is not noble by blood, even if he is by deed. This massive oversight means that he would fit this pattern and allow Martin to show us another lowborn perspective, this one of a Lannister supporter and a soldier to boot.
There is a lot of filler Martin could write to pad the prologue with Shitmouth; he does it with all the prologue characters. Of course, when I write “filler Martin could write to pad the prologue”, I mean that Martin has an extensive number of details crucial to the great mysteries of A Song of Ice and Fire that Shitmouth’s POV could provide. Shitmouth’s real name, for one. The moment he got his new, better name of Shitmouth. Gregor and Sandor’s dynamic. The Mountain’s campaign in the Riverlands and trouble with wolves or outlaws. Shitmouth’s favorite food and song. Details about the Westerlands relevant to later in the book. What the war has done to common soldiers like Shitmouth. What Shitmouth is going to do with all his gold.
And Shitmouth’s backstory. Hear me out, this is a stretch but a fun and interesting detail that would actually make a lot of sense considering the story. We don’t know Shitmouth’s age. Jaime describes him as “grey and grizzled” (Jaime III, AFFC). Based on this, it is reasonable to assume Shitmouth is in his 40s or 50s; this idea would work even if he were in his 30s. When Jaime arrives at Harrenhal, Shitmouth and Rafford together appear to be leaders of the Mountain’s men, even though with Polliver dead there is no official leader. That could suggest, in combination with his age, that Shitmouth is a veteran man-at-arms that the younger men respect enough to listen to.
If Shitmouth is a veteran man-at-arms, given he his age then he has probably fought in other wars. What other wars do we know the Cleganes have joined in the last 30 years? Robert’s Rebellion. Allow me to propose a radical idea:
Shitmouth participated in the Sack of King’s Landing. Both Cleganes were there and Shitmouth’s age fits. Even worse, when Ser Amory Lorch and the Mountain were in the Red Keep to kill Elia, Rhaenys, and Aegon, there were others – Lannister men-at-arms – with them that witnessed (and perhaps participated) in the act. Tyrion tells Oberyn Martell that “He had some men-at-arms with him, but I do not know their names”; the “him” he is talking about is Lorch, but then he tells Oberyn that "It was Ser Gregor Clegane who smashed Prince Aegon's head against a wall and raped your sister Elia with his blood and brains still on his hands” (Tyrion IX, ASOS). To me, this suggests that there were also men-at-arms with Gregor, who witnessed his act.
What if Shitmouth was one of those men-at-arms present at the murders? With Young Griff claiming to be a surviving Aegon, the killing of Elia and the Targaryen children is once again crucial to plot of ASOIAF. What better way to set up more foreshadowing – either for Young Griff truly being Aegon VI or being an imposter – than to have a witness to the murders remember it? With Lorch dead, the Mountain undead, the only living witnesses would be the Lannister men-at-arms (unless Varys witnessed it – which we don't know and I doubt we are getting a Varys POV any time soon). Perhaps the column stops at a castle along the way, allowing for ravens to bring news from the east, and thus Shitmouth overhears the knights discussing how the Golden Company is claiming that YG is Aegon, and then Shitmouth goes back into thought about the sack.
In the same way that Oberyn Martell’s vengeful rage over this event defined him, the murders could have changed Shitmouth’s behavior: after seeing the savagery at the sack, Shitmouth may have become a jaded person only caring about the luxuries of life in alcohol and gold and other pleasures, but still feeling guilt and wanting to atone, explaining why he is willing to give Arya bread. And even the origin of his name could be explained – perhaps Clegane started calling Shitmouth Shitmouth to help conceal the names of the men-at-arms who saw it – maybe at the behest of Tywin Lannister. Now that would be insanely interesting development for such a character as Shitmouth.
On a less interesting note, Ned Stark remembers that the Mountain fought in the Greyjoy Rebellion (Eddard VII, AGOT). Shitmouth may have been a veteran of the war as well. Clegane's Keep, which Shitmouth presumably lives near, is close to Lannisport, so Shitmouth may have witnessed the burning of the Lannister fleet by Euron and Victarian. Perhaps Shitmouth took part in the siege of Pyke alongside Thoros of Myr and Ser Jorah Mormont. Maybe he remembers something about Euron’s tactics or Victarion’s stupidity or seeing Aeron Greyjoy captured (Aeron proved “that krakens can piss farther and longer than lions, boars, or chickens” while imprisoned in Casterly Rock (The Prophet, AFFC)). So, Shitmouth could also provide information on the Greyjoys, who figure to play a large role in TWOW; the same scenario as above (hearing about ironborn reaving from a raven at a castle) would work.
We could go further. Much further.
We aren’t even close to exploring all Shitmouth has to offer. Rhaegar Targaryen knighted Gregor Clegane – Shitmouth could have been there (Sansa II, AGOT). Shitmouth probably have witnessed Gregor kill Beric Dondarrion the first time at the Battle at the Mummer’s Ford or the second time (Arya VII, ACOK). Shitmouth probably fought at the Battle on the Green Fork (Tyrion VIII, AGOT). Shitmouth also probably was there when they sacked Castle Darry (Catelyn I, ACOK). Shitmouth probably was part of the Mountain’s men that attacked the Northern rearguard led by Roose Bolton when crossing the Trident (Catelyn VI, ASOS). Hell, Shitmouth could be old enough to have participated in the Reyne-Tarbeck revolt. Shitmouth was also probably fucking Lancel and Osmund Kettleblack and probably Moon Boy for all I know. The Mouth that Shits has been everywhere, lurking in the darkness, crucial to the plot. He is prologue POV material.
Lastly, Shitmouth is a surprisingly likable character and decent guy. He is a part of the Mountain’s men though, which are a rather deplorable bunch, but hey, he’s funny, and that never hurts – although if he really was part of the Sack, Martin would really need to sympathize some more. Starting off TWOW with the violent death of a top 10 popular character at the hands of a batch of increasingly bloody outlaws like the Brotherhood or Nymeria’s savage pack is the perfect start off a dark and depressing book.
Just imagine this created concluding paragraph of the prologue:
“As the spear sent waves of pain through his bottom, Shitmouth perceived one of Westerling girls – the wolf queen, he reckoned – being carried by the Hound into the snowy treeline. If only Ser were here…he would have deal with that shit…although the Hound were taller than that…and that there weren’t his color cloak neither. Then they were gone. Then, suddenly, in front of him, a dead knight fell face first into a pile of manure, his surcoat covered with mud and blood. I suppose he’s Shitmouth now. Those were his last thoughts. As darkness overcame his eyes, the sound of steel faded in his ears, and the smell of death swarmed his nose. In the end, Shitmouth only tasted blood.” (Prologue, TWOW)
If that doesn’t cause shit to flow from your mouth, I don’t know what will.
Problems with the The Foul-Lipped Man Theory - It makes too much sense.
- Shitmouth reaching Riverrun is not fully confirmed. He could have been one of the ~20 soldiers from Harrenhal, most of them Mountain’s men, who went with Connington to Maidenpool and then King’s Landing (Shitmouth in Cersei’s POVs, anyone?), and, if Tarly and Tyrell have their way, the Wall (although if that happened Shitmouth could be the epilogue TWOW character).
- Even if Shitmouth made it to Riverrun, there is no textual evidence saying that Shitmouth was sent with Prester. He could have remained with Jaime’s forces off to Raventree Hall or melted away elsewhere. Going home would also clash with Shitmouth’s gold goal, but I think Martin could write around this point — Jaime doubled the guard with Prester at the last minute, so maybe he offered gold to get volunteers. Or more like, Jaime ordered them home anyway, and they weren’t going to refuse. Shitmouth could also have been one of the 12 Mountain’s men led by Raff going to Maidenpool and from there it seems they went to King’s Landing, with at least some, like Raff, becoming guards for Ser Harys Swyft and going to Braavos (perhaps Arya will see Shitmouth again?). However, none of this explicitly deconfirms Shitmouth being TWOW prologue character, which is great, so it is still possible.
- If Shitmouth was the prologue character, Martin would probably be forced to kill off one of his greatest creations despite the massive amount of potential left with him. That would be a grave tragedy for fine literature fans and the greater plot, and one Martin should be keen on avoiding. Perhaps TWOW prologue will be the one to break the rule, and Shitmouth will live to mouth some shit for another day.
- If Shitmouth was the prologue character, Martin would be forced to title the chapter as “PROLOGUE” instead of the alternative “SHITMOUTH.”
Well…there it is. I hope this was the greatest theory you’ve ever read. Happy April Fool’s. Special shoutout to another “semi-serious”
April Fool’s Shitmouth theory: Shitmouth is the father of Janos Slynt.
TL;DR you cannot eliminate the possibility that Shitmouth is TWOW prologue character; it makes sense logistically and has some surprising story-potential. Also, Shitmouth is too important and funny to not include again. Martin, we demand that we get Shitmouth back.

2023.04.01 22:17 thomas_1123 Please give me any suggestions for this deck
2023.04.01 21:57 peter_-file Let me hear your suggestions please, fairly new to the game :D
2023.04.01 21:54 Paladinfinitum The Shocking Never-Before-Seen Connection in US (2019)! (NON-SPOILER except for the very very first scene!)
Hello Internet! Welcome to... the Internet! The place where people sometimes do for free what MatPat does for MILLIONS of dollars. (You know that "attic" he films his YouTube Shorts in? More like "penthouse suite" in his hundred-floor mansion!)
Anyway, I've had this theory (a FILM theory!) bouncing around my head for a while, and it took me all of March to work out the convoluted connections, but fortunately, it is all SPOILER-FREE - because while it does involve the movie US (2019), it involves exactly one part of one scene, the very first scene in the entire movie, and knowing that will not spoil the rest of the movie for you. If you're still worried, feel free to go watch the movie right now and come right back! Now have a sit down with your extended family, this is going to be quite a ride!
So, here is the launching point of this theory: In the very first scene of US (2019), a television screen shows a lengthy commercial. That commercial is for...
HANDS ACROSS AMERICA, an event that occurred on May 25, 1986. On that day, people attempted to create a continuous human chain of people connecting the east and west coasts of the United States. They didn't quite succeed, though there are some calculations that maybe there were enough people to possibly make it happen if they were positioned just right. But it wasn't just a stunt, it was a fundraiser where people donated money to reserve their place, and that money, roughly fifteen million dollars, was donated to local charities. And this event was created by...
KEN KRAGEN, a music manager and producer, who over his lifetime managed such stars as Trisha Yearwood, Travis Tritt, and Kenny Rogers. He also was the executive producer of The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. (He was also part of the chaotic Leno/Letterman battle for the Tonight Show, and portrayed himself in a movie based on it.) The year before he created Hands Across America, he was part of another fundraising event...
WE ARE THE WORLD (1985), an album and also famously the title of a song sung by numerous musicians, including Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, and Ray Charles (with forty-seven musicians all told). This supergroup was called USA for Africa, and used the millions of dollars collected (equivalent to $156,000,000 today) from sales to ship food, medicine, and clothing to Ethiopia, Sudan, and other African countries. While Kragen was the primary reason so many musicians took part, another person was also responsible for the event...
HARRY BELAFONTE, one of the most successful Caribbean-American singers and known for his Calypso songs such as The Banana Boat Song ("Day-O!"), though he sung in numerous genres. He was also a friend of Martin Luther King Jr. and continues to be involved in causes he believes in (including being part of the Hands Across America event above). He is also known for his movie roles including Island in the Sun. He was such a fan of acting that, when he was younger and needed to save money, he and a friend would buy one ticket total to see a show - one would go in to see the first half, then fill his friend in on what had happened so the other could watch the second half. And who was that friend?
SIDNEY POITIER, an actor and director who was the first black actor and first Bahamian to win the Acadamey Award for Best Actor for the movie "Lilies of the Field." He took acting classes at the Dramatic Workshop in New York, with his friend Belafonte and others such as Marlon Brando and Bea Arthur. While Poitier is also known for movies such as Guess Who's Coming to Dinner and A Raisin in the Sun, he is also known for the film...
IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT (1967), a mystery drama film where Poitier plays a black detective who must solve a murder in a small Mississippi town, where most of the residents despise him for his skin color, while the police, led by Rod Steiger's police chief, reluctantly assist him. The movie was a hit, and two sequels were made, as well as a television series in the 80s. Despite being set in the South, the film was actually shot in three towns in Illinois, including...
CHESTER, IL, a city along the Mississippi River, founded in 1829 by Samuel Smith, who named the city after his wife's hometown in England. Both Charles Dickens and Mark Twain are recorded as visiting the city; Twain wrote about it in his book, "Life on the Mississippi." It was also the home of E.C. Segar, who created the comic strip Thimble Theater and based the look of his characters on people around town. One of them, Frank Feigel, was a one-eyed brawler with a pipe, thus inspiring...
POPEYE, the Sailor Man, was a breakout star of Thimble Theater and soon became the subject of his own comics. He would generally solve problems by punching them, and under extreme circumstance would pop open a can of spinach and consume it in one gulp to gain incredible powers. Along with his longtime girlfriend Olive Oyl and rival Bluto, he would gain fame in animated cartoons and eventually a movie starring Robin Williams sporting gigantic forearms. In fact, Sony Pictures Animation intended to put forth a new computer-animated movie directed by Genndy Tartakovsky. But the movie was postponed and then eventually cancelled. And which amazing movie did Sony Pictures Animation create to take its place?
THE EMOJI MOVIE (2017), a movie about emojis. While a commercial success, critics were not exactly thrilled by the script, or the product placement, or the plot, or much of anything. Winning four Golden Raspberry Awards, it is generally considered a bad movie (except by Mr. Jacksfilms Douglas, who has been called "the #1 fan" of the film and attended its world premiere). One critique was the presence of the talking, ambulatory "poop" emoji, voiced by British actor Patrick Stewart. While Stewart is known for his amusing playing-against-type roles in animation, he actually took the role only after it was offered to another actor...
JORDAN PEELE, who upon realizing what the previous role entailed, was so annoyed that he decided to change the direction of his ENTIRE CAREER. As part of "Key & Peele," he was known as a hilarious actor and comedian, though his work behind the camera for the sketches was often noted for its skill and seriousness. He went on to present "Get Out" (coincidentally also in 2017), a psychological horror movie that received both box-office success and ciritcal acclaim for its plot and direction. Which then resulted in Peele creating a second horror film that opened just two years later...
And THAT, my friends, is how the first scene of US (2019) is connected to... the movie US (2019)!
And if you're left feeling a little confused, just bear in mind that it took me the whole month to write this up... and therefore, it's being displayed one day after the last day of March.
BUT HEY!
THAT'S JUST A THEORY!
AN APRIL FOOL'S THEORY!
THANKS FOR READING!
(Source is Wikipedia, the most trustworthy of all sources ever. The only stretch is connecting the demise of Popeye to the rise of the Emoji Movie. I can point to this YouTube video by Midnight's Edge (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPsmXytKkdg) that specifies it wasn't a direct cause-and-effect, but happened pretty much at the same time, so it's just enough of a correlation.)

2023.04.01 20:52 ChiorgirlHotel My notes on Greta Thunberg's Call to Action
Interestingly, the Bible clearly says God’s New Earth (Jerusalem) will be ruled by children. Greta Thunberg represents this new generation, striving to promote and sustain life on our planet. Here, I share my notes on her most recent (February 2023) work The Climate Book, with the hope in my heart that her voice will be carried far. *[My own Christian perspective is weaved into her scientific outlook.]
To begin, Carbon Dioxide (C02) is a basic building block of life, some of which has been stored underground from plants from long ago. Over 2 million years ago, too much C02 caused a mass extinction. Afterwards, trees were virtually gone. It took millions of years for Earth's biosphere and life to recover.
People have been farming for over 10,000 years, depleting the nutrients of the land. Between 1945 and 2000, the number of people tripled. Since the 1990s, we have dumped more climate changing toxins into our environment than throughout all of human history. We consume more, due to this “great acceleration.” In the 20th century, people accelerated their use of fossils fuels.
The science is solid. The great acceleration occurred with the industrial revolution. We have filled our oceans with plastics, and are destabilizing our own ecosystem. This is like sawing off the branch we are sitting on!
Nature cycles carbon, but global warming can be exacerbated by the release of carbon from the soil due to warming. We have knocked the natural balance off, due to our use of stored fuels and our own carbon emissions. Since the industrial revolution, our economy is reliant upon fossil fuels and non-sustainable practices.
We must rebalance our planet by controlling our own behaviors and emissions. If we continue with current practices, we will warm our planet by 4 degrees by the end of this century.
What will this be like? Extreme heat waves will occur yearly, along with drought and famine. Sea ice will disappear, revealing more of the ocean.
Climate change directly causes the death of coral reefs, and if they collapse they will also take with them millions of ocean species. We may be causing the 6th extinction. Coral reefs become bleached due to warmer waters as their colorful algae is expelled, threatening over 30% of ocean species. Right now, three billion people rely upon our oceans for food. We need to farm our oceans sustainably (such as for seaweed). Fishermen are currently exploiting 90% of available fisheries. One billion people depend on fish for omega-3 fatty acids and more.
Why don’t more people care? Many do not perceive a threat because it is slow and complicated. We have exploited and distanced ourselves from Nature. Even our religions have promoted the false notion that this world is to be devalued, and we are separated from our Creator. Many feel a void, with no God within. Many try to fill this emptiness with ceaseless products. Our entire worldview and our daily habits must change.
Today 20% of California’s power use goes toward providing water. We can take better measures, like drawing from ocean water.
Factory and human waste is polluting our waters. Riots have broken out, such as in India, over access to water. Who is taking this seriously? The public? The government? It seems almost no one.
Our government could pass new laws, but they do not. People are also self-interested, and rarely act for the social good if it takes from them in any way. This age is characterized by selfishness and greed, as even the Bible warns in Revelation. Tragically and shockingly, the fossil fuel industry is receiving 11 million in subsidies each minute.
The Industrial revolution, rise of science and decrease in religious morality have all compelled these trends forward. We need a new ethic prioritizing life. Religious leaders must support life, not the Death Culture which exalts the self (no matter the consequences).
We are literally obsessed with culture wars that distract us from our common interests in protecting our planet and making future generations possible.
What stands in the way of a sustainable future for human life? Should consumers even have a choice to purchase destructive products, like plastic containers for single-uses? Should meat even be available? If we really took this seriously, what measures would we take, and what laws would our government pass?
One problem is how some lives are valued more than others, and a select few are exploiting and making life impossible for many. Those in power do not tend to question their privilege!
GLORIFICATION OF THE SELF We have convinced ourselves that we deserve our carbon-rich lifestyles. If we remain hedonistic and not prudent, the poorest and most vulnerable to climate change will suffer the most.
And, Christ will judge us based on how the least among us is treated. Do we contemplate this with each plastic bottle we toss out, or plane trip we take? Isn’t living sustainably Christian behavior, reflecting the wisdom of the Holy Spirit and our living God?
Our future grandchildren will pay and suffer for our convenience now. But, we glorify the self. We glorify the pleasure of the individual and freedom to drive our species over a cliff. Many arguments from the ‘other side’ boil down to a call for the freedom to die.
CORRUPT LEADERSHIP Our leaders are taking us over a cliff. George W. Bush pulled out of the Kyoto protocol, given it was not ratified prior to his taking power. He chose to serve corporate interests (even over human life). Bush declared that the American way of life is not negotiable (1992). Since he spoke these words over 30 years ago, our emissions have increased by 60%, creating an existential crisis.
Given such attitudes and priorities, we have a limited carbon budget to spend in the next few years if we wish to avoid the most dire consequences of global warming. We need to raise the cost of carbon, forcing consumers to pay more for products that are heavy in carbon pollution. We also need to change our diets. We must get our priorities straight.
In 2009, corrupt lobbying destroyed an act that would have helped. But the fossil fuel industry, driven by greed, spends billions on disinformation and distraction. They poison public debate with dirty money. Leaders set non-binding targets, then fail to reach the goals. Their true priorities are economic growth and profit. It seems to the public that actions are being taken, but they are not taking serious measures at all.
The richest ten percent contribute 50% of our total C02 emissions. We need to restructure our economy to be sustainable. The idea of infinite growth is not possible on our finite planet.
We are all in the same crisis, but not the same boat. The only hope is in speaking truth to power and adjusting our behaviors accordingly.
CURRENT SITUATION There is about 1 carbon molecule for every 2,000 other molecules in our atmosphere, so carbon is difficult to locate for removal. To stop putting carbon into our air is much cheaper and better than paying for carbon removal later, which would cost trillions upon trillions. Why should we allow companies to continue business as usual, passing cost and problems to future generations?
Climate change is responsible for over 2 trillion in economic costs. Economic damage from climate change will cost over 3x the amount the pandemic cost. For example, insurance rates will rise and the real estate market will suffer due to not being able to sell in coastal and impacted areas.
Worldwide, waste is increasing at an alarming rate and 20% of methane emissions are due to our waste. We need to engage in more intelligent practices. For example, we can compost (which reduces waste in landfills that leads to methane emissions). Composting will also nourish our gardens.
Methane removal, through oxidation, is needed. Half of our methane is produced from human behaviors like cattle agriculture.
C02 is forever, while methane is temporary. Methane is 20-30x more potent in warming our atmosphere than C02, but it dissipates over 40 years while C02 will remain thousands upon thousands of years. C02 is also cumulative.
Given this, we must stop our emissions of greenhouse gases immediately. If we reach zero emissions, it will drastically reduce global warming. Carbon dioxide is at its highest in 2 billion years, due to our behaviors. We are experimenting with our own lives and planet!
Toxins accumulate in sea creatures, damaging the whole ecosystem. C02 enters the blood of fish, affecting acidification. Acidity has already risen 30%, producing hazards for marine life, like for coral reefs and in decreasing calcification in the shells of sea life. Shopping bags can strangle sea animals and their stomachs are found full of microplastics.
The Amazon forest works as a giant air conditioner, cooling our planet. It absorbs C02. But temperatures in the Amazon are increasing and it is getting more dry due to the expansion of farming and deforestation.
Aerosols like smoke and other tiny particles in our air affect our global temperature. Some cool our atmosphere by reflecting the sun, even dropping temperatures by 0.5 percent. Without aerosols, our atmosphere would be hotter. But air pollution is also hazardous, coming from our cars and factories, for example.
Clouds reflect sunlight back into space, but can also insulate heat like a blanket. Reduced clouds over our oceans force the ocean to absorb the sunlight, thus contributing to global warming.
Melting ice caps no longer reflect the sun, leading even to more warming. Our glaciers are melting. The Himalayas provide drinking water to billions, yet will melt by 1/3. We have enough ice to raise our ocean levels the equivalent of a 20 story building. We have already lost the equivalent of Mt. Everest in ice sheets. This melting will lead to coastal devastation for those living near our oceans. Our oceans will rise by a meter by 2100.
Oceans absorb about 90% of the excess heat produced by global warming. While oceans absorb about ¼ of C02, warming produces less absorption. We must enhance our oceans ability to absorb C02. Even a 1.5 degree increase in temperature is a great risk to our future survival. Our weather has extremes, like the freezing waters and the heatwave that killed many in 2021.
Human made climate change has devastating consequences. For example, Hurricane Harvey cost billions and the severity was 15% greater due to human made climate change. Sadly, 20 million people were displaced by flooding in 2020.
Distressingly, we have all witnessed that even minor disruptions in our supply chain are devastating. Thus, climate change must be averted at all costs.
Our temperature has already warmed by 1%, which all reputable science agrees upon. This is already causing damage right now. Heat waves and air pollution lead to heart related and respiratory deaths, not just heat strokes. Millions die per year due to air pollution. The warming climate also triggers diseases like Maleria and will kill millions. These diseases are being seen in areas not seen before.
The increase of C02 in our atmosphere is even making our crops less nutritious. Specifically, soils lack zinc and protein. Zinc deficiency then leads to a reduced immune system. Millions more will have an iron and folate deficiency due to current C02 levels. Iron deficiency leads to premature births.
GOING FORWARD So then, what is our best path forward for survival? We have to stick to a carbon budget per year to reach our goal of only increasing the temperature by 1.5 degrees Celsius. The carbon budget, to stay within the agreements of the Paris accord, will be used up in a few years. But noone seems to be sounding any alarms. Is this because our media is controlled by the elite?
Politicians still respond to mammon ($) with no concern, really, for life. Congressman Manchin singlehandedly rewrote climate legislation in 2021, even with all aware that he has millions invested in fossil fuels, like the influential Koch brothers.
Exxon Mobil has been well aware of the consequences of their actions for decades, yet put forth false discussions into the public sphere. They purposefully stalled for time, which we do not have.
The King of Saudi Arabia has unbelievable wealth and power, but when we move to solar and wind energy power will not be so concentrated. This may lead to a more hopeful and democratic future that serves the actual interests of the people. We need to turn to our Sun. We need to now rely upon energy from heaven, not from hell. It is not that we do not have the money to change. It is that those benefiting from our current Death Economy do not have the will to change.
Many will promote carbon capture technologies, but the reality is hidden. There are only about 20 carbon capture facilities operating right now, some shown to produce more carbon than they capture. We can use fossil fuels only until around 2050, unless technology like carbon capture is seriously invested in (and not just used as a talking point). Many CEOs deflect attention from change right now, promising (like snake oil salesmen) to develop sustainable technology in the future. (Interestingly, blue hydrogen can be made from carbon capture.)
Solving our crisis calls for us putting less demand upon our energy system, such as in consuming less. We need to return to more of a natural, Earth based way of life. Do we all really need to extend our days, with artificial light, past the natural hours of sunlight? Must we eat meat? Wherever there is a roof, there is a potential for a solar panel. Wind parks can also be built in offshore locations, where they are less disruptive.
Green hydrogen is a fuel that leaves only water behind and is usually produced by methane. But it costs more to produce than it makes. Thus, green hydrogen requires an abundance of cheap energy.
Hydropower facilities use water flow to produce energy, while nuclear power splits elements for energy, and produces around 10% of the world’s energy. But, a nuclear power factory that just opened in 2022 took 16 years to open. And, nuclear power can have disastrous consequences and can be the target of terrorism.
Biomass energy creates energy by burning wood or other biological matter. But, it can take hundreds of years for forests to regrow. Thus, we need to slow down this process and aim to stop burning things on Earth for energy.
Geothermal heat takes energy from the Earth's heat, producing around 17% of greenhouse gases. But it is limited in that there are limited planetary hot spots. In air capture measures, carbon is pumped underground, like in BECS. BECS pumps carbon underground and provides electricity from the burning of plant matter, which is cost effective compared to other measures. Enhanced weathering is also a promising technique, such as exposing crushed rocks and minerals to the carbon in the air to facilitate natural processes.
Finally, some promote geoengineering, which is the manipulation of our atmosphere, such as reducing the warming effects of our sun. Some support spraying sun-blocking aerosols or coating ice to protect it. This is actually risky to our ecosystems. Solar engineering is too dangerous, given once the process is started it must continue indefinitely (and political regimes can change). If suddenly stopped, warming will occur to an even greater degree than if no measures were ever taken.
REAL SOLUTIONS Elites consume and produce more than most. Our problems are that of inequality as much as pollution. If the top 10% (financially) only produced the carbon footprint of the bottom 90% of global emitters, 1/3 of carbon would be reduced. Thus, carbon budgets will affect the filthy rich the most. The most wealthy are contributing a shockingly disproportionate amount of pollution. The average person produces 6.5 tons of emissions per year, with the wealthy producing 75 tons.
Rich countries know they are liable for their pollution. They, of course, do not want to focus discussions on responsibility. The global economy could shrink by 18% due to the climate crisis.
We need to reduce emissions, restoring soils and forests. We need to protect our soil from tilling, pesticides and depleted nutrients. We have found that enriching soil with nitrogen has polluted our water. We need new practices. How can we sustainably grow food? How can we facilitate new ideas?
PLANT-BASED DIET We know that as affluence increases, so does meat consumption. But more efficient use of water and land, such as in transitioning to plant-based diets and farms, is our only viable path forward. This would support health of our land, souls and bodies!
Plant-based foods have the lowest impact, while meats can impact our environment over 20x more. Every 50 calories that go into meat (feed) produces 1 calorie as human food. 4x the size of Brazil in land is used for grazing cattle, the greatest use of land (even above forests). And, 20% of gas emissions are due to how we use land, mainly for agriculture. Our current food production also causes 30% of greenhouse gases. We need to shift to a plant-based diet. We can feed our communities using 76% less land. One burger, which gives 10 grams of protein, uses resources like land and water that would provide many more nutritious calories if the same land was instead devoted to vegetable and fruit gardens.
Turning away from meat would not only help us feed more people, it would also help reduce diseases in our bodies and help reduce carbon pollution. Specifically, 350 million tons per year in emissions would be reduced if we shunned meat. Becoming vegetarian is the single most impactful action you can take to help.
We are eating more calories, when we need to consume less. Specifically, we need to reduce pork and beef calories by 80% in wealthy countries. Currently, 1/3 of all food produced is not consumed. We must make smarter use of our land and reduce our food consumption and waste. Humans have directly reduced biodiversity in shaping the land for our purposes, such as in agricultural practices. We farm around 30% of land now. It would take far less land to farm if we stopped using land for food for cows and other “products” for the meat industry.
Given all of this, how can it be that $500 billion in government subsidies go into agriculture that is not sustainable? We need a political and spiritual revolution. We need significant behavioral and technological changes immediately. For example, if we lowered the speed limit, we would save over 5 tons of carbon emissions annually (just in Germany). We also need cities that are efficiently constructed, and need to reduce unnecessary travel. We can use online meetings rather than physically traveling to meetings.
We can also encourage college students to prepare solutions for our problems, instead of preparing for the job market! This kind of free thought would be supported by a Universal Basic Income.
Even in 2021, 95% of transport relies upon oil (including cars, planes and ships). We need to curb the sale of SUVs, which produce great emissions. Why are they so popular? We need to encourage lighter vehicles, banning SUV advertising. We need to wake up!
Renewable energy is now the cheapest form of energy. Renewable energy makes more sense, yet those who have vested interests in fossil fuels do not want change and actively work against change. Still today, 1.446 billion vehicles run on petrol. EVs are a good step, but we really need electric public transit.
We need to outlaw all petrol engine vehicles starting 2025, and more. By 2035, there will be 2 billion private vehicles. We need free public transportation, like trains, trams, busses and ferries.
We also really need to buy less. We can reuse and repair our items and vehicles, rather than buying new things. Americans spend $5,400 per year on impulse purchases, and studies show that more ‘stuff’ does not equate with greater levels of happiness. We can share and borrow items, as a true community. This is also Christian behavior.
We can wear second-hand clothing. The clothing industry fills landfills! Electric bikes are also good alternatives to our current ways. We can buy only energy efficient appliances and can avoid over packaged foods, meat and dairy.
We need to transform our food system and plant green gardens everywhere possible. We need home garden and trees and biodiversity in cemeteries, parks and public areas as well as home backyards.
Biodiversity protects us by removing C02 from the air and purifying our waters. It helps mitigate disease and even protects our health. We need to support biodiverse land because it absorbs more C02. This is a real action we can take.
We also need to let forests grow and stop cutting young trees for wood. Before the Industrial revolution, people burned mostly wood for energy. Industrialization did relieve the deforestation occurring at the beginning of the 19th century by turning to fossil fuel energy instead of wood burning. After the development of coal burning machines, pollution killed more people than we realize. We do have to stop burning fossil fuel.
Today the ability of a forest to store carbon depends on many factors. First, we need to replace trees at the rate carbon would have been captured if wood was not harvested. If a tree is not cut, how much carbon would it capture over its lifetime?
We need to reduce wood harvesting. Specifically, we can harvest from constructed tree farms, but also allow other trees to grow old, to support biodiversity. We need no till farming, a plant based diet, biodiverse forests and more. We need drastic carbon emission cuts now.
We have already reduced the populations of birds, reptiles and insects by 2/3 since the 1970s. Sadly, 60% of all songbirds have disappeared in the last decades.
We are killing our ecosystem. Pollinators (like bees) are dying, thus leading to our deaths due to not being able to eat vegetables (which increases heart disease due to poor diet and high meat consumption).
But, are people even able to respond to new information? Are we able to act on new data? We will see.
Buying less means we do not have to earn as much. Our world will be better and we will feel better. We need to take the status away from consuming products. There are websites devoted to revealing the true carbon footprint of popular products, like:
www.ethicalconsumer.com Profits motivate corporations to distract the public from the truth. We are not told how unhealthy certain common things are, even in the long term. It is not in their interest (they mistakenly think) to be honest and change to a more sustainable economy. Of course, God sees all.
Politicians are short sighted and are not addressing the crisis at all. We need “honesty, integrity and courage” (Greta Thunberg). But, many are still driven by mammon (money) to the point of our death. Many politicians are corrupt, with our blood on their hands. They have the blood of all future children who will never breathe in God's air of life, given lobbying, on their hands. How is lobbying legal? Our government does not work for the people, but for power and mammon. The rich are served and our Death Culture continues, while we continue to consume dead flesh.
Our politicians must lead us in a new direction, no matter if it is aligned with popular public opinion. Politicians need to communicate our true situation and our media needs to direct us to a more healthy future.
“The time for little steps in the right direction is over. We are in a crisis” – Greta.
Promises to become climate neutral by 2050 puts everyone back to sleep. If they really cared, drastic changes would be made right now instead of distracting our focus, according to Greta Thunberg.
“It matters what we say, but it matters even more what we do” - Greta.
We cannot act only nationally, given we are on one planet and are all affected. For example, the pandemic could not be kept to one nation. We must address our crisis as a world, not as isolated nations.
Geopolitical tensions stand in the way of true international negotiations. Nations are driven by a will to power. We need a new base ethic of valuing life and caring about each other (across nations and groups).
We need to work together to address the planetary crisis. Instead, each nation is actually preparing for conflict, based on the finances devoted to building military forces. Our money shows our true priorities.
Greta Thunberg says we need to just simply “tell it like it is.” We need to stand on our moral ground and be open to innovative ideas and solutions. She suggests many ideas for change.
First, we must start treating this climate crisis like a crisis. We must get our priorities straight. We must also admit our economic systems have failed. We need to face reality to be able to create a better world.
The best way to absorb more carbon is to leave forests alone. “A living tree must be valued more than a dead one,” explains Greta Thunberg. Scientists recommend we protect at least 30% of nature. Currently, only 3% of the Earth’s surface is unharmed.
We must spread the facts; 5.9 trillion dollars are spent annually in subsidies for fossil fuels, which is insanity. Do not fly; avoid air travel. The tourist economy is responsible for 8% of our yearly emissions. Instead of subsidies for air travel, we need to pay subsidies to encourage train travel. We can invest in wind and solar power, and scientific advances like farm-free food grown in a laboratory.
Science can shed light on how to nourish our soil and stop depleting it. Thus, we can go forward with science and morality as our guiding forces. The ‘is’ and the ‘ought’ will be complementary.
We need to educate ourselves and become climate activists. We can institute justice through protests and civil disobedience. We need to fight for democracy in non-violent ways. We need new laws to protect us.
Be disruptive. Look for common ground, using love and not hate to shed light into the darkness. Avoid culture wars that only distract us from survival with endless debates. Very simply, we must also buy less and use less. We can also stop purchasing single-use plastics, like bottles for water.
Plastics that are disposable have been available for 20 years, and thus have accumulated in our oceans. Companies that used to offer glass bottles and also clean them have now moved to disposable products and thus have passed on costs to us.
Coca-cola actively acts against legislation that would have them offer reusable bottles again, as they did before single-use plastics. Companies blame consumers for bad habits yet shoot down laws against single-use plastics. The UK is the second highest trash producer, after the US. Most plastic is counted as recycled but is not. It litters deserts and waters, affecting our climate. Transit companies disguise the true origin of waste as it is relentlessly burned in the cover of darkness.
Countries like the UK, US, Japan and Germany export waste to places like Southeast Asia, where it is often burned at night. People now suffer respiratory illness due to these common practices. Plastic produces greenhouse gases, as it is derived from oil.
And, even today, we do not have accurate data on carbon emissions. The Washington Post found that our current path to climate solutions is not even credible nor viable, given the reported numbers are so distorted. Countries report only a fraction of their true emissions, like Sweden, who reported 50 million tons of greenhouse gases when in fact they emit closer to 150 million tons per year. So, even now, only 1/3 of emissions were even included in reports in Sweden. This is seen internationally as well. We need a proper road map, based on data and our moral ground, that we actually follow!
But “Who do you vote for when the politics needed are nowhere to be found?” poignantly asks Greta Thunberg. Even in progressive countries like Sweden, only 10% of ‘recycled’ products are actually recycled. Much is burned, causing further pollution.
So, recycling is a huge greenwashed myth. Most plastic will never be recycled. It is all made so cheaply that it is made to be disposed of. So, plastic litters landfills and our waters, especially in poorer areas. Micro plastics are now everywhere, even inside us. 8 million tons per year of plastic waste is dumped into our oceans.
We can reduce packaging, to start. We need a major system change. Greenpeace is calling for a 50% reduction in plastics in coming years, given our situation.
Specifically, we already also have 40 years of carbon built up in our atmosphere and our C02 emissions are on track to rise 16% in the coming years.
We are set to increase our global temperature, yet the media is not covering this crisis. We cannot negotiate, for we value life itself while those in power prioritize profit; “They speak to flowers in the language of US dollars” says Greta Thunberg.
We need regular press briefings on our climate crisis and many discussions on how to solve our problems. For example, we can institute a #UBI as part of the transition in our economy and as jobs related to fossil fuels diminish.
Communist China is using over 70% of our carbon budget, and still will in 2030. This, while developing countries are affected the greatest by climate issues. How can developing countries move forward in a sustainable way? Capitalism also contributes to our crisis by encouraging increasing GDPs, despite the true costs to our planet. This economic system demands growth. Yet, high income nations do not need more growth. We need a new economic system based on our ecosystem. No current systems lead to life.
We need to educate ourselves. We need both individual and systemic, market change immediately. We must restructure our economy around renewable energy, less meat consumption and less SUVs, for example, to ensure our future. In fact, 80% of energy used in 2019 was still derived from fossil fuels.
Frequent flying and eating meat are some of the most destructive activities an individual can do in terms of the climate crisis. Some have made an oath to never fly and to become vegetarian, given our situation.
We need to phase out private jets, mega yachts and other egregious displays of wealth and status. We can make these displays shameful and not glorify them. We can take public transport and move away from fossil fuel based engines. For example, in Vienna, 60% of people live in community housing.
Should we shame those who live an unsustainable lifestyle? Should we offer softer signals that change is needed, like having our family over for a vegetarian dinner?
We can encourage others to live with less of an environmental impact. As one neighbor gets solar panels, so do others. We can share plant-based recipes. We can participate in social actions and protests.
Government also (on the macro level beyond the individual) needs to lead and set examples for a new way of living, following through with laws. We need to meet the basic survival needs of all humans on our planet with current resources.
The richest 20% need to reduce their consumption to 1/10th of 2015 levels, making room for others basic needs. Christ stood up for the needy and the powerless. But are we too unloving and selfish to survive as a species? What will happen to our souls, as we turn our backs to the most vulnerable?
Psychology has been used to advertise toward people’s deepest desires to inspire their purchases. Ads create (or play upon) a deep need, promising to fill the inner void. Products promise to make us feel better and to lead to our acceptance by our social groups. But, without God, people remain empty inside while landfills overflow.
For example, 73% of textiles (clothing) produced ends up in landfills. Can we start identifying with God, and not by our outer appearance and the latest fashion?
We need to phase out excess for a few, while expanding access to basic resources to all, like healthcare and housing. This is in line with instituting a Universal Basic Income (#UBI) for all, to help people of all identities survive the upcoming transitions on earth.
Our excesses are a clue into inner poverty. Many do not have solid community ties, even if they have material wealth. We are actually happier when we are connected to others, giving and sharing. Our efforts to help others and transition from our selfish society will lead to deep joy, not poverty. We will be blessed as we use our voices and hands to carry forth God’s will.
As a start, we can choose (given our morals) to buy only 3 new pieces of clothing per year, take less trips, rid ourselves of personal vehicles and eat a plant-based diet. What else can we do?
We need the Holy Spirit to guide our souls and hands as we create a new day! We can change if we hold hope, as the eloquent theologian Jurgen Moltmann has shared. We can shift from unhealthy social norms, and these healthy changes will allow all of us to thrive.
We need relationships based on love and reciprocity instead of greed and a will to power. We need less selfishness and more sacrifice for others whom we share with because we actually care. We need to restructure our world based on love, as Christ taught.
When we take action for a sustainable society, we will find new meaning in our daily actions. Our community bonds can grow stronger as we change. And, as sociologist Emile Durkheim found, strong community bonds lead to less suicides. We have the opportunity to promote life and even joy in coming together to change our world for the better!
We do not wish to conserve the world, but create a new one. We need more community control over resources and a guaranteed income for all, regardless of group affiliation. We need energy efficient public housing and to restructure the economy to a more just system. We need to align our economy with our ecosystem as well as our morality. As the brilliant Martin Buber wrote, we need to develop I-thou relationships, based on a recognition of others and not an exploitation of them. Equity and sustainably go hand in hand; there can be no sustainably without equity. Instead of asking who owns land, we need to ask who is responsible for the land. We need a politics of love.
CONCLUSIONS: CARETAKING IS A GREEN JOB! We need to transition to a care-taking society, where all are cared for and treated with love. We need to dismantle the call to endless growth and greed.
“We need to redefine hope and progress, so that these words do not translate to destruction” – Greta.
We need to prioritize people over profits. Green jobs, like caretaking, can be recognized as we turn away from jobs based on over-consumption of unneeded products. Carework is climate work! We need to not only repair our relationship with our planet, but also with each other. We can become a global family.
Solutions involve community actions in helping each other, just as Christ called for. Also, our youth must be a global force of change. We must learn from our mistakes and challenge the status quo and those with interests in the current Death Culture.
Truth, justice and morality are on the side of creating a sustainable future, explains Greta Thunberg. In our Postmodern age, where some claim all views are valid, what is Truth? Both sides of an issue are not equally valid. Survival is not a story with two sides.
We need to end our Death Culture by following the path of love (set by Christ) and carrying out God’s will, for God is Truth. When we recognize this, we will move from the Postmodern Era to the Pre-Utopian Era, as we prepare the ground for God’s New Earth.

2023.04.01 17:55 Quinn-Quinn The Stump That Was Promised: Victarion Grejoy is both Azor Ahai and the Valonqar (Spoilers Extended)
Victarion Greyjoy, the Iron Captain, brave, honorable, and noble hero of ASOIAF, fulfills a number of major prophecies throughout the series. I've made a video examining this theory (
which you can find here), but I've also outlined its core tenants below.
Azor Ahai: There are two parts of this myth that fit Victarion quite well. First is the forging of Lightbringer, a series of events that directly parallels elements of Victarion's background. The three attempts to forge this legendary blade represent conflicts in which Victarion has taken part, throughout each of which he has honed himself and his fleet to be the best they can be.
The first conflict in which he partook was Robert's Rebellion. He grew quite a bit as a warrior, but ultimately did not gain anything from this conflict. He does, however, lose his father at the Battle of the Mander. This undoubtedly impacted Victarion quite a lot (as we can tell from the 0 times he thinks about it), and could very well represent the first sword, the blade breaking in the water, as Victarion's father did.
The second war in which Victarion is involved is his brother's rebellion, later called the Greyjoy Rebellion. The first act in this conflict was carried out by Victarion himself: the captain burned the Lannister fleet while it was sitting in the harbor at Lannisport. However, despite this valiant effort, the Greyjoys were defeated in this rebellion. This sword was cooled in a lion, via the Lannister ships, but the cause broke.
The third instance of the forging of Lightbringer is still occurring in our story. Victarion has seemingly thrown in behind his brother, Euron, but has a number of reasons to prioritize other causes above the Crow’s Eye. Most notably, he hates his brother. Euron seduced Victarion’s wife, which resulted in Victarion killing her. The memory of this event serves as a core tenant of Victarion’s character, as he uses it for justification for pursuing his own agenda above that of his brother. And of course, this directly mirrors the third forging of Lightbringer. Azor Ahai killed Nissa Nissa, and from this love and this sacrifice, the weapon that will save the world is born. In this case, the resentment built by Euron totally being the one at fault for Victarion’s wife’s death will result in Victarion and his fleet pursuing his own goals, now a honed weapon to save the world from darkness.
While taking the Shield Islands, Victarion duels a knight named Ser Talbert Serry. Victarion easily wins thanks to his big brain move of wearing full plate on the high seas, however in the fight he catches Serry’s blade in one of his armored hands. Victarion allows this hand to be wounded, and that injury becomes infected during his journey further eastward. That is, until the cure to his problems is found floating on a plank of wood, adrift and alone on the sea.
The red priest Moqorro is pulled from the ocean south of Essos, and after some deliberation is brought aboard Victarion’s ship, the
Iron Victory. Moqorro catches Victarion’s interest when he offers to heal the injury sustained in the duel with Serry. It’s a painful process, as many on the ship note screaming and mad laughter echoing across the water for an entire night, but come morning Victarion is healed. He emerges with a hand far stronger than that which he had originally possessed, burnt black and red, and constantly emanating an aura of smoke. Victarion has been reborn, as Azor Ahai was long prophesied to do. And this rebirth took place amidst the salt of the sea and the smoke of his newly charred arm.
The Valonqar: But that’s only half of the prophetic battle. In the television show
A Game of Thrones, we see that Cersei Lannister marries Euron Greyjoy. While this seems unlikely at present in the books, it remains a distinct possibility. In the Forsaken sample chapter from
The Winds of Winter, Aeron observes Euron with a woman, assumedly his bride, made of pale flame. Cersei has been shown to have certain pyromaniacal tendencies (read: burning the tower of the hand), and these tendencies may be the route she uses to escape persecution and seek revenge on the Faith. However, if she takes the route she did in the television program, she’ll likely be hated by everyone in King’s Landing. Coincidentally, so will Euron! Aegon won’t like him, and Victarion will have already poisoned the well with Dany. Cersei might be Euron’s next best shot at power, potentially through supporting Tommen’s claim.
After exacting her revenge on King’s Landing, Cersei will likely return to Casterly Rock to rule. This is where one of GRRM’s blog posts comes into play. A recent blog post goes into extreme detail on Casterly Rock, notably focusing on its naval surroundings. This would be quite important were an Ironborn POV character to arrive on Casterly Rock. Tyrion thinks several times about his duties (pun absolutely intended) as the keeper of the Rock’s sewer system, and it seems as though the knowledge he gained from this job would greatly aid him in an invasion. If one of Dany’s commanders were to accompany Tyrion, it would likely be Victarion, as the fastest way to get to the Rock could be via boat.
Victarion arriving on Casterly Rock could give him the chance to finally exact vengeance on his brother for what was done to his wife, so long ago. This potential fate for Cersei directly fulfills the prophecy given by a woods witch in her youth. The witch states that Cersei will be killed by the “valonqar” or little brother. She goes on to specify that, once Cersei’s tears have drowned her, the valonqar will wrap his hands around her neck and choke the life from her.
A bunch of little details from this prophecy line up with Victarion. “Once your tears have drowned you” could be referring to Cersei turning to the Ironborn in the aftermath of whatever’s going to happen in King’s Landing. They worship the Drowned God, and Euron is referred to in prophecy at least once as a drowned crow. In this case, the Valonquar wouldn’t be Tyrion, as Cersei had always suspected. The “little brother” was in fact a “little brother-in-law”, as Victarion strangling Cersei would bring his arc of uxoricide.
Why would Martin do this? (TLDR) Simple. His opinion of prophecy has always been that people read too much into it and expect things to be literal so often. Plus the show taught us that the main point of everything is subverting expectations, right? Wouldn't it be an excellent subversion, an excellent way to display that prophecies are dumb, to have several (seemingly) important visions be fulfilled by the dumbest character in the story? Victarion Greyjoy is, without a doubt, Azor Ahai and the Valonqar.

2023.04.01 15:32 Whoce Needlemouse is canon to the FNaF universe
[SPOILER WARNING: THIS POST IS OBVIOUSLY GOING TO HAVE SOME PRETTY BIG SPOILERS FOR NEEDLEMOUSE, SO I RECOMMEND WATCHING THE SERIES BEFORE READING THIS POST IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE SO ALREADY (trust me, it's good). Though it's also being rebooted with a rewritten story since the creator wasn't satisfied with how the old one turned out so eh, do what you want.] Hi everyone, Whoce here. Today I've got a new theory to bring to y'all, one which I find to be very interesting and plausible.
Needlem0use is a YouTube
Analogue horror series created by ShutUpJojo, which aims to act as a rewrite of the old and infamous creepypasta
Sonic.exe, which was (and it still is) mocked for being of low quality, to turn it into something better.
That said, the story deviates away quite a bit from its original source material as instead of the classic cosmic Void entity that we all know and hate, this series follows [warning: in-depth story summary] a young woman named Sarah Henderson, who fell in love with another woman named Lily King. Sarah was born sometime in the 40s and started going to college in the early 60s, a time period where LGBTQ+ relationships were heavily discriminated against, much more so than today, and as a result Sarah and Lily would have to keep their relationship a secret. Sarah also had her own friend group, known as "The Fun Gang", who she was incredibly close to, so much so that they're the only people (that we know of) who Sarah trusted enough to know about her and Lily's relationship. The Fun Gang was composed of Sarah and three guys named Luther, Michael and Martin. One day, while Luther and Sarah were chatting, she brings up a college party that her and Lily want to attend, but she's worried due to their aforementioned relationship, so she asks Luther to come with them and help them cover up. Luther accepts and on the day of the party ends up bringing Martin and Michael with him as well. During the party, the friends end up having a bit too many drinks and get into a fight. One thing leads to another, and soon enough Sarah ends up dropping dead on the carpet. Realizing what just happened, the three dudes then decide to hide the body by burying it near a lake and never say anything out of fear of being arrested, a decision which will go on to haunt them for the rest of their lives.
Nearly thirty years later SEGA creates their now renowned mascot Sonic the Hedgehog along with his game series, which brings the company a ton of success. One of their buildings would wind up being built over the site where Sarah was buried. To add insult to injury, Luther would be hired to work at that very same building. This leads to Sarah's soul becoming stuck to a disc compilation of the 4 main Sonic SEGA Genesis games and posssessing Sonic's spritesheet. Incredibly furious at her former friends for the fact that she was basically murdered by them, she lures all three of them into playing the game, kills them and locks their souls inside of the other characters, proceeding to then torture them for the rest of time. That is until 2008 when Luther's son Thomas discovers the old disc, along with his friend Kyle. Sarah goes after them and kills Kyle, but the series ultimately ends with the Tom surviving and everyone, including Sarah, being freed and passing on to the afterlife.
But why would I think this creepypasta series is canon to FNaF? Well, it's simple!
Piece of evidence numero uno: incredibly similar stories
The story of Needlem0use is that of a murder victim who came back by
possessing and turning into a ghostly cartoon character to get revenge on her killers, killing and trapping them in her own made up hell for the rest of eternity, where she can torture them forever. Does that sound familiar? That's right, that's just UCN but with Sonic! Sarah acts just like Cassidy.
Not even to mention how Sarah shoved Luther's soul into Tails, Sonic's best friend, just like how William ended up dying inside of Spring Bonnie, Fredbear's best friend, because of Cassidy chasing him down.
And Sarah also goes after Tom and Kyle despite the fact that neither of them have anything to do with her murder, they weren't even alive back then, Sarah just wants to make sure that no one knows about her or any of the others. Similarly to how Cassidy, along with the other kids, go after William's son, Mike, thinking that he's harmful in some way, like wanting to take away their Happiest Day or even actually being William. They also go after other innocent security guards thinking that they're William.
Sarah attacking Tom and Kyle to hide the existence of the disc in fear of someone trying to destroy it could also be compared to how A̵͔͚̙̼̞͓͙͍̝̫͌͛n̶̡̜̻͎͍̜̙͑͋̓̌̓̀͒̎̎̀͆͛̚͝d̷̢̼̼̳̼̹̼̥͔͍͕̗̐̌̈̎͗͂͐̌̏͂̀̅̕͝͝r̵̖͂̌̾̌̆è̶̗͖͕̰͙̤̮̺̟͋̌̐̃̋̀̕͝w̶̢͙͇̪͉̝̲̹͓̯̙͋̍̆̊͒̔̔͛͑ ̷̨̨̜̹̯̲͔̮̟̰̠͍̗̑̊g̴̨̻̰̟͎̩̒̽̂̈́̎̋͂̊̾̅̕͝͠ͅo̷̡̮͂̉͆̿̓̈́̒͒ẽ̶̛͎͍̘̀̍̏̆̈́ș̴̨̣̳̫̱͈̝̝̼̩̱͙̋̈́͑͑̽̔̔̊̽͠ ̵͇͈̜͖̹̺͆̏̋̇̓͆̈́̕a̴̗̱̩͆̉̐̆͐̈́̇͗̀͗̈́̓f̶̡̨̨̗̜̩̪̤̼̩̦̫̘̀ͅṱ̸̡͕̱̫̯̭̥̱̙͔̈͜͝͠ê̷̟̹͕͐́͜͜͠ͅr̸̡̧̳̲͈͔̝̗̖͓̮̀̂̓̏̔ ̴̨̧̙̜̟̲̈́͛̈͜t̸̺̱̃̄̎̋̈̑̽͝͝h̸̡̨̳̺͚͔͎̼͉̼̀̓̃̀̀͜͝ͅě̴̺͔̦͖͊̃͒̇̅͒͗̅͘͜ ̶̡͚̬͖̝͈̻̼̳͖͊̆̉͐̔̃̊̅̐̒̊̄̄ͅn̵̢͔͚̜̙͉̗̺͕̱̦̯͎̂͐́̋͐̀̎́́̓̑̍̚͝u̶̮͋̑͋͐̓̚ŗ̴̭̣̳͎͙̯̲̹̲̰͐̒̓́̀̾̄̋̆̈́̿̚͜͝s̷̹̬̭̞͗̏̓̑̄ͅe̶̢͔͓̣͖̳̘̰͉̽̉̽̌̃͆̃̾̽͊̆̕̚͝ŝ̵̨̰̞̣̲̺͔̞̘̼̰̈́̑́̆̀̽̕͜͝ͅ ̸͉̮̤̩̻̞̳̯͍̪̀̓̂̉̌̃̀̆́́͌͑͝a̴̹̩͉͎̣͚͇͍̺͘s̶͔̼̯̠̄̑͂͐̊̕ ̶̰͕̤̒̈͋̈́͆͗̒̓̊̃͛̈̕͝͝ţ̴̢̛̝͕̭͍̟̩̘͎̩̾̂̇͊̾͂̓̋̏͋͌͝ờ̷̖͓̼̖̃͆̊̌̒̓͂̾̄̏ͅ ̴̳̱͔̮͌͑͋͛͌̐͂̓͐̑͝ś̷̮̺͈̀ͅť̴͚̱̻̲̗͙͌̅̕ó̶̡̘̻̹̹̜̱̠̟͓͚̖̲̈́̆̃̈͂̀͘p̷̜̠̫̠̋̓̽̕͝ ̶̡̡̲̬̬͇̹͖̗̗͓̙̙̑͌̏̒̔̕͘͜͜t̵̰͕͛̓̐͆h̴̢̡̨̧̨̩͚̼̼̻̘̺̟̤̐͛̀̕̕ĕ̵̛̤̖̄̀́͗̇̔̄͘̚̕̕ͅm̷̨̖̫̟͇̖̮̖̞̜̔̅̓͜͠ ̶̧̖̠͉̻̱̼̻̎͑́̓͌͊̈̈́͐̋̽̄̕͘͜f̴̨̢͙͚̱͑̽ȓ̷̨͕͍̙͍͉̖̼̍̋̇͝o̵̢̞̟̭̝̱͚͍̳̩̍͂͛̊̇̓̿̓̌̌͋̈́́̐͘m̵̡͙̠̪͙͖̮͇͎͙͈͈͛̂͒͌̃̉́̈́́̒͗̍̇͜͝ ̶̧̻̫̖̭̪͕̤͙̼̃̍̚̚k̸̢̡͖̣̱̣̳̥̐͘į̸̹̫͓͎͍̯̌̊͐̂͗̒̃̋̌̌͆̕̕̚l̴͚̖̊̈͋̆̂͐̍͑̂͗̐̄͌͝l̴͈͉͖̼̦̼̟̟̼̜̬̃̈́̅̓͜ͅi̶̖̅̋͆ņ̸̨͈͍͉̖̥̖̮̱̍̍̀̋̚g̸͈̫̹̺͎͉̩͕̦͎̦̋͊̀̀̃̊͐̆̾͒ ̶̛͙̪̭̭̩̯͉̼̖͕̖̀̐̒̆͐̈́̐͝W̸̻͔̙͇̹͕͚̤̤̗͙̒͒ͅḯ̵̠̖̜̻̀̍͌̅̅̽̚͠l̷̘͙̙͂͒́̊͆̚͝l̸̡͇̮̮͙͋̉̽̄̓́̌̉̎̀̏͆̍̕i̸̢̢̡̱̰̥̺̟̻͖͔̗͂̿̎͐͂̀̍̅̕ͅa̷̟̦̎̒͌͌̏̍̉́̽͝m̴̖͚̥̃̂́̾̐̉̆̿͗̀--
No character known as "Andrew" exists, has existed or will ever exist. The Fazbear Frights are nothing but an elaborate coverup, an extensive effort to brainwash the populace and conceal the truth. I request that you cease believing their lies or I'll be forced to take immediate action. ShutUpJojo has also said in a tweet that I can't find anymore that Needlemouse is "basically FNaF".
- In addition, Sonic.exe, the creepypasta that Needlemouse is derivative of, has a fairly similar story to FNaF as well.
It details an entity known as X, who takes on the form of Sonic and uses a Sonic game disc to lure in players. He then kills said players, takes their souls and turns them into their favourite Sonic character. Thus, you could say that overall X is ve
ry similar in his tactics to William, who puts on a Spring Bonnie suit to lure kids who love the character. He then kills those kids and they end up stuffed inside of the other animatronics, with their souls possessing them.
The newest official iteration of X, Xenophanes, c
reated by the new owner of the creepypasta, Astranomicon/Shei, is also
ourple And don't even get me started on Glitchtrap or his supposed "cult", which is very reminiscent of the Cult of X.
- Furthermore, Foxy.exe exists, showing an official connection between FNaF and Sonic.exe.
So now that we've established Needlemouse (and Sonic.exe in general) as a piece of FNaF content, what exactly makes it canon to the FNaF game timeline?
Piece of evidence numero dos: incredibly similar supernatural laws
Let's start with an obvious one; possession. Sarah possesses the Sonic disc and she's able to shove her friends' spirits into the disc as well. While in the disc she can show up on-screen as a distorted version of Sonic, just like William is able to show up in The Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience as a distorted version of Spring Bonnie after his soul got scanned into the game.
Sarah can also appear as herself and sometimes as a distorted version of herself, just like how in the Happiest Day minigames, which are seemingly arcade games haunted by the agony of the kids, you can see and interact with the missing children themselves. And Cassidy is also seemingly able to appear as what is seemingly a version of herself in Princess Quest.
Sarah locking her friends in the game after attacking them could also be compared to Glitchtrap locking Vanessa's mind in the VR game at the end of Help Wanted.
Sarah being able to show up
in the real world, outside of the game also isn't that crazy of an idea and it seems to be perfectly consistent with what we know is possible in FNaF as well. She seems to be doing the same thing that Golden Freddy is doing with how he projects himself out of the Fredbear suit (as FNaF 2 confirms that an actual FredbeaGolden Freddy suit exists), as evidenced by the fact that Sarah has similar powers/abilities to Golden Freddy while she's outside of the disc.
Sure, the thing about Sarah possessing the disc after SEGA built one of their buildings over her corpse may seem farfetched in FNaF, but it's not impossible. After all, Take Cake to the Children and SAVETHEM both suggest that William kills his victims before stuffing them into the suits and that stuffing their already dead bodies still ultimately results in their souls possessing the animatronics. In his latest timeline video, MatPat has also proposed the idea that Charlotte was able to possess the PizzaPlex after it was built over her resting place in the FFPS location, explaining stuff like the presence of the weird Nightmarionne plushies and STAFF bots, the Puppet-like colouring of the power cords etc. so that could also explain how Sarah was able to ultimately possess the disc.
As everyone is passing on at the end of Season 2 of Needlemouse, they seem to enter a state that is kinda similar to Happiest Day
and/or potentially even to what happens with Susie at the end of Coming Home. - But the biggest similarity between the paranormal rules of Needlemouse and those of FNaF has to be the existence of Shadow characters.
As we all should know, in FNaF there exists the elusive Shadow animatronics. From what we know of them they're most likely reflections of certain people or events created out of Dark Remnant (aka negative emotional energy, like agony and rage). For example, we know from one of Shadow Freddy's/Nightmare's lines in UCN ("
I am your wickedness,
made of flesh.") that he's made out of William's wickedness, and he certainly acts like it as well.
In FNaF 3, he appears during the Follow Me minigames, where he can be seen
luring the animatronics to William, who's hiding in the safe room, in a
very similar manner to how William lured the MCI victims to the safe room. He even uses the exact same line that William used, that being "Follow me.", as seen in Fruity Maze and Henry refers to him as a trap that William set for the missing kids. In FNaF 1-3 he also appears in the exact same places that William did. We first see him in FNaF 2, where we know William worked the nightshift and killed 5 more kids the week prior and during the course of the game now works the dayshift. We also see him in Follow Me and during the office gameplay in FNaF 3, where William is obviously present as Springtrap. He doesn't appear in FNaF 1, which could be explained as William not being present there in any capacity.
There's also Eleanor, who needs no introduction. She's a dark chaotic force created out of William's wickedness, similarly to Shadow Freddy (hence why some people think that they're connected/the same entity), who throughout the course of several stories like Into the Pit, Count the Ways etc imitates William or one of his creations. She also helps William become the Amalgamation in Epilogue #6. Likewise, Needlemouse has a very similar entity in the form of Atem, a dark malicious being created out of Sarah's rage, built up over the course of the 30 years that she's spent rotting under the ground near the lake. Similarly to how Shadow Freddy takes the form of Fredbear, Atem takes the form of a skeletal Sonic the Hedgehog.
Similarly to Shadow
Freddy behaving like William, the way Atem acts perfectly mimics Sarah while in an angry state. Throughout the series he only ever really appears while Sarah is in a state where she feels remorse/regret as opposed to rage, like just after she murdered Kyle, after which she breaks down crying over the fact that she just murdered an innocent person. Atem then appears in front of her and starts saying things like "You're the victim here.", something which Sarah obviously believes in within the context of what happened between her and her former friends. Afterwards, after fully coming into control of Mecha-Sonic MK II, Kyle tries to confront Sarah, at which point Atem disappears and Sarah goes wicked once again, successfully striking Kyle down in the next few scenes. This suggests that Atem caused Sarah to regain her rage, at least for a brief period of time.
Then, once Sarah tries to kill Tom, Luther stops her and tells her that she's the murderer here and she's only making everything worse, at which point Sarah starts to feel regret over everything again. Then Atem starts telling Sarah stuff like "You've been through so much... and now that you have a chance to be happy... he wants to take it away.", something which also mimics Sarah's attititude at the end of Season 1, where she says that now that she trapped all 3 of her friends in the disc with her they'll be together forever and she'll never be alone again. He also reminds her that "It is their fault you're dead."
Atem then offers to help her out by holding Luther off while she goes to kill Tom. During the Finale we see Atem trying to mentally break Luther by making him that he's a murderer as well and that he's just as bad as Sarah, an obvious call-back to what he said to her.
Piece of evidence numero tres: Sarah and Cassidy are the same person
As stated above in the section about FNaF and Needlem
ouse/Sonic.exe having similar stories, Sarah and Cassidy have incredibly similar personalities and commit similar actions, both being vengeful spirits who trap their murderers in their own artificial hells featuring cartoon characters. But the personality is not the only thing that connects these two together.
Here's how Sarah looks like:
https://preview.redd.it/tr5le0srm9ra1.jpg?width=195&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f86b4d47e69ddcf974cd4bbabef3e06803e7f7f A woman with l
ong, black hair. Now how was Cassidy described to look like in The Fourth Closet again?
"And that's Cassidy." A girl with long black hair approached, carrying more pictures in her arms.
Aditionally Cassidy also seems to make an appearance in The Survival Logbook, where she takes on an appearance that is consistent with the way she looks like in TFC. Yes, she has pigtails which she doesn't have in the book, but you need long hair to make pigtails, so it's not an inconsistency in my eyes.
But how would Sarah and Cassidy be the same person if Sarah died in the 60s as a young woman and Cassidy died in the 80s as a little kid? The answer is incredibly simple;
Cassidy is a rebuilt android version of Sarah, which we know to be possible due to Gregory being a rebuilt android version of the Bite of '83 Victim given what is probably a different name for who the hell knows what reason.
In that same vein, it's possible someone who knew Sarah was knowledgeable enough to be able to try to "recreate" Sarah in a way by building robots made in her image, though with a different name for who the hell knows what reason. And who knows, maybe they decided to make versions representing her at all sorts of ages, so that the people she was close to can relive al
l their happy moments with her.
But what the hell is Golden Freddy then? Cassidy wouldn't have a soul if she was a robot! But y'know, that's not necessarily true. After all, Charlie in the novels does have a soul. An artificial one made out of Henry's grief, but still a soul. We know that a ton of people were really upset by Sarah being declared missing, especially Lily, so it's possible an artificial Cassidy soul could be created out of their collective grief.
In this case, Golden Freddy would be like a weird cross-section between a soul and the Shadow animatronics, which tbh makes sense, given how he's able to do stuff like teleporting, fading out of existence, crashing the game et cetera,
stuff that the Shadow animatronics are also able to do.
And that ladies and gents has been "Needlemouse is canon to the FNaF universe". I hope you enjoyed this totally serious theory and I wish you all a great rest of your day! submitted by
