2023.04.01 22:58 One_Piece_Go_D_Usopp [Tournament] APRIL FOOLS: most honest Usopp scaling PART 2* (this can be used to scale Ulti)

[Tournament] APRIL FOOLS: most honest Usopp scaling PART 2* (this can be used to scale Ulti)

PART TWO*: Usopp, the weakest, yet very underrated Straw Hat.

*This is actually the only part since the mods instantly deleted my honest Go D. Usopp scaling...
This is a more serious post than the previous part: the actual honest Usopp scaling. In fact he is actually extremely underrated and his scaling his misinterpreted.

Ulti's scaling:

Firstly, we need to scale Ulti to properly scale Usopp.

Ulti in Base can attack Luffy and clash evenly with Luffy, while he coats himself in CoA. Remember, this is post Udon Luffy. He has ACoO and ACoA already and he is stronger than Katakuri, a YC1.
Chapter 983
Ulti wins the clash by sending Luffy away... this puts her AP (and her dura with haki) above Base Luffy who's on-guard using CoA to defend himself.
Chapter 983
Luffy slams her and she receives no damage.
Chapter 983
Her physical strength is greater than Luffy's and he feels the need to use Gear 4th to face her.
Disclaimer: I am not scaling Ulti to Luffy, she's just crazy strong and Luffy wouldn't beat her with ease without G4.
Chapter 983

She then gets hit by a suprise-attack by Yamato and she gets up in a matter of seconds (end of chapter 983 -> start of chapter 984) with minimal damage. She is completely fine in chapter 986.
Chapter 984
Ulti is able to clash with Yamato, while she is in base and Yamato doesn't have the sea stone on her. This Yamato can clash with Hybrid Kaido and not get overpowered.
Chapter 987

I'd like to mention that Ulti can trash-talk anyone including Kaido in chapter 978 and other Tobi Roppo are shocked (they're weak compared to her) and again Kaido in chapter 979 as well as King in chapter 990.

Based on all of this, Ulti is easily the strongest Tobi Roppo. She has better feats than Jack, the only thing making her lower is portrayal and narrative. Ulti scales at the top of Tobi Roppo or the bottom of YC3.

Offense: AP / Hax

Usopp with Skull Blast-Grass can hurt Page One, a very durable Tobi Roppo who can tank a hit from Gear 3rd and leave with no damage.
Chapter 991
He can catch people with this Pop Green, Devil, which has meltinng properties.
Chapter 995
Usopp has another way to hurt Page One! Flower Fireworks. While you could argue the other were shallow, this one clearly draws blood out of Page One's neck / chin.
Chapter 1011
Exploding Pine Cones is a big attack since Komachiyo, O-Tama's komainu, is small compared to it. Literally one of these bombs alone is already his size. It also damages Page One, although it stays shallow.
Chapter 1011

I want to mention something that people should keep in mind to understand all these feats.
All the Tobi Roppo have Ancient Zoans, therefore they are way more durable than the average Tobi Roppo level character and they are more durable than some Commander level character. Hence why Usopp's AP is actually decent.

Usopp also has abilities allowing him to slow down his opponents. He can slow down Page One & Ulti with his Bamboo Javelin.
Chapter 995
He can also momentarily stop Ulti with Sargasso from moving allowing Nami to perform a critical attack.
Chapter 1016
Basically, Usopp's Offense scales below the average Tobi Roppo, but not far below that level.

Speed: Travel Speed / Combat Speed

Usopp can run really fast, even from Ulti & Page One.
Chapter 991

Usopp's reaction speed is good enough to perceive Ulti who's sneaking from behind.
Chapter 1016

He can tag Ulti by shooting a Pop Green at her the same way she did right before. At least his main attacks (sniper) are fast.
Chapter 1016
Also this:
He can catch people with this Pop Green, Devil, which has meltinng properties.
This counts in his speed, since he could even catch on-guard Ulti.
Chapter 995

The fact that Usopp can tag and hit Ulti & Page One with his attacks means his speed is good. While most of the time, he attacks them up-close or by suprise, there's still some attacks that land when his opponents are on-guard. Considering Usopp is never staigth up blitzed**, we can expect his speed to be around Tobi Roppo level, likely at the lower end though.

Durability / Endurance:

Usopp mentions that he had already tanked at least one Ulti Mortar. He then tanks another one (at least the second one) and stays conscious. Based on the previously established Ulti scaling, Usopp's durability and endurance are crazily high.
Chapter 995
Usopp can tank Ulti's headbutt this far into the fight and still stay conscious while he had already tanked multiple hits before. We know he stays conscious because he lands his next attack two pages later (see the previous section for the panel).
Chapter 1016

Usopp's durability and endurance feats are great, he should be scaled at Tobi Roppo Tier in this category. This is really good considering Usopp is not a physical fighter. I'll mention it again, but the durability of Tobi Roppo come from their fruit, which is something not everybody has, hence why Usopp can be scaled here.

Stamina:

Usopp, despite having already fought Ulti & Page One and fought many of Kaido's minions for hours causing great fatigue and exhaustion. In spite of that, he is still able to fight opponents who gave Izo trouble. Remember that Izo had recovered from his fight against Kaido dozens of chapter prior to that.
Chapter 1036
Chapter 1038

Versatility:

Usopp is actually a quite versatile fighter since he has both long and short range attacks, and his techniques vary in any given situation. This is a list of his abilities:
  • Various Pop Greens
  • Impact Dial for offense & defense
  • Several other Dials
  • Kabuto combined with excellent sniping skills and Observation Haki

Conclusion:

Before concluding I would like to mention that the tier mentionned here are as large as the YC3, YC2, etc... tiers.

Usopp can fight people who gave trouble to Izo, a 510 million berry guy who can hurt Kaido and beat a masked CP0 agent. For reference, Izo easily scales above Drake who got mid diffed by the same agents Izo fought. This basically puts Izo at the top of Tobi Roppo bare minimum and he could possibly be bottom YC2, I personally think that puts him at the bottom of YC3, relative to Jack if we don't wank Drake. This puts Usopp at most two tiers below Tobi Roppo.
Usopp himself has a 500 million berry bounty, making him as strong as Dressrosa Luffy in the eyes of the World Government. He is undoubtly very strong, this should put Usopp in Tobi Roppo Tier (portrayal).
Most importantly, while Usopp cannot beat Ulti and Page One, he can be decently troublesome to them and they are solidly Tobi Roppo Tier. This puts him a tier below them.

We can conclude that Usopp is at least in the middle of the tier below Tobi Roppo Tier at most at the top of that tier. Whatever you call this tier, be it yonko executive or yonko officer Usopp is up there.
Finally, Usopp loses to any Tobi Roppo (Black Maria, Sasaki, Page One...), BMP Monster (Oven, Daifuku, Compote..., and I'll add Tamago) and other SHP (Nami, Chopper, Brook...). Nonetheless, he beats any lower Scabbard (Kanjuro, Kin, Kiku, Raizo), Mingo lieutenant (Pica, Vergo, Trebol...) and Grand Fleet Captain (Hakuba, Barto, Sai..., this includes Old Chinjao).

TL;DR
You may read the last subsection.

2023.03.31 01:53 Diabolus414 The worlds strongest hag [tournament]

"Bring me sweets! If you do, I'll make a promise with you! A promise of peace! And of a dream country! If you listen to what I say, you will all live happily! And if you don't listen... you're being selfish! And I'm gonna kill you!" ~Charlotte Linlin
To begin I would like to acknowledge the rampant Big mom downplay in the one piece community which is my main motivation for this post. Due to Big mom being the cornerstone of some PIS (Plot Induced/Incentivised Stupidity) moments in the series people think she is weak or below other God tiers of the verse when the story expressly shows otherwise. I hope you enjoy my first real post on this sub! With that out of the way, let’s look into the power of the strongest woman in the series, Charlotte linlin!
ARSENAL
Other than her immense physical strength and durability (which I'll be going over later), Big mom is a skilled user of her devil fruit and is capable of utilizing all 3 forms of haki plus an "advanced" version of one of them.
Devil Fruit
The Soru Soru no mi enables Big mom to interact with and manipulate souls. With it she created 3 sentient beings known as her homies using her own soul namely:
When all the homies combine they create an attack called the Maser Canon ("鳴光砲" Maser Ho literally meaning Roaring light canon). A Maser (meaning microwave amplification by stimulated emission of radiation) which is a producer of amplified electromagnetic radiation. By virtue of being an electromagnetic radiation, it gives credence to the attack being light speed (if the fact that the attack is literally called Roaring light canon wasn't enough).
(Note: Both Prometheus and Hera can endow Big Mom with flight by carrying her on their bodies and homies are not susceptible to armament haki damage)
Of course, big mom has her own amp similar to kaido, where she spent one year of her life to become stronger in her battle against law and kidd. The important thing to note here is big mom specifying: 1 year of her life span. Which means big mom can keep consuming more…and more…and more of her life span. Since one piece humans can live (so far) up to 141yrs old, big mom can theoretically keep consuming more and more of her life span to gain an edge over her opponent (assuming oda isn’t feeling like nerfing her that day.) Big moms soul abilities don’t end there, as she has also shown the power of insane regeneration. On top of her already monstrous durability, she can heal fatal injuries… instantly. This ability is, once again, seemingly tied to her own lifespan, and once a homie is brought to life, it stays alive, which is bad news for anyone unfortunate enough to fight current big mom.
Haki
Big mom is confirmed to be capable of using all 3 basic forms of haki.
And can use CoC (Colour of Conquerors) reinforcement which increases the striking power of it's user several fold. How much increase you may ask? Well let's look at Luffy's massive boost while he had just started using it…Luffy went from being sent flying by Kaido and taking damage from his attacks.
To directly clashing with Kaido's attack, taking no damage and not getting pushed back with a flawed version of ACoC.
Another example we see is the infamous banjrang gun being supposedly susceptible to being vaporized by kaidos flaming dragon drum, to then straight up clashing and overpowering with said attack.
Quite a big jump in power if I may say myself.
(Also note that both instances being compared show Luffy in mid air meaning no leverage. Just a little detail to consider so you don't thing I'm comparing two incomparable scenarios.)
(Also also note, that during the fight with kidd and law, big mom was in fact using her ACoC, oda obviously is inconsistent with showing his haki useage, he’s more of a tell don’t show kind of guy. It upscales kidd and law, as it’s further trying to push the shitty “rivalry,” doesn’t downscale big mom.)
"The World's Strongest Hag" (Physicals)
Being one of the 4 emperors of the sea, Big mom is no slouch by a long shot. Big mom with physicals alone could clash equally with a serious Kaido with neither having the upper hand over the other for three days. (Kaido being the kind of guy to use his powerups more early than big mom, make of that what you will) Not only is this impressive because drunk base Kaido showed us prior that he could oneshot Luffy, (big mom also one shotted Luffy with physicals before it was cool), but we also know that Kaido is stronger than Old Whitebeard. If the fact that Kaido being literally called the strongest creature alive doesn't put him above the strongest man/pirate, we have statement from the Ace novel that says in 1v1 fight Kaido would be stronger.
And you want to know what makes this more impressive? Big mom wasn't even using CoC reinforcement to face Kaido in their clash and fight (which I've explained and proven increases striking power by a lot).
One of big moms most impressive stats is durability. Again, scaling to a base kaido would mean she scales to the feat of not selling G4 attacks, throwing any chance of commanders fighting her out of the window. Even rooftop characters like kidd was unable to do any real damage to big mom until his powerup later.
A key for damaging kaido (and big mom in extension) is control over advanced color of arms (or ACoA), an ability that allows one to send attacks into an opponent, ignoring conventional durability, dura neg if you will. But as we see, even an advanced mastery over armament haki isn’t enough to do significant damage to the yonko, constantly telling us it’s ”too shallow”. No, the key to fighting these two is an ability possessed by only the very strongest, ACoC. Only once you’ve gained mastery over said ability, then can you fight big mom properly. If not, you need to resort to less conventional means…
Enter law. Or more specifically, laws puncture wille. Now, I know this sub dislikes calcs, but even disregarding those, this is an insane feat. Law visibility made a multi-mountain sized hole, do a depth several times that of wano. This is by far (barring banjrang of course) the most impressive feat in the series, multiple times beyond islands level, depending on how big you think wano is. Big mom tanks a sub-banjrang gun level feat….internally….smiling and laughing….instantly regenerating that. Nobody in the verse is taking out big mom quickly, kaido like durability + insane regen? But there is one final thing to go over, the nukes on onigashima.
If we remember what the nukes where supposedly capable of doing, the idea behind them is simple, straight up explode onigashima and kill everyone on the island. If it could actually kill kaido or not up in the air (it can’t) but it being hyped up to explode onigashima is strangely what the banjrang gun was also hyped up for. No, I dont think these nukes are as powerful as the real deal thanks to haki, but big mom eating two sub banjrang gun attacks and only dying later due to the volcano is incredibly impressive, imagine how powerful big mom would be after consuming more life span.
So now we have Big mom who can stalemate Kaido for 3 days (without CoC reinforcement) who is stronger than the guy (WB) who while heavily injured, took down Akainu in two shots in a flash or some minutes at most (if we use the anime timing)...how exactly do admiral/YC+ tier characters dominating Big mom in physicals again?
Speed
Other than the fact that she literally has a LS attack (check the devil fruit section), being able to stalemate Kaido would mean she would have to be as fast as him. Kaido who is capable of tagging Luffy while he used advanced observation haki (Luffy who with merely regular observation haki could dodge light beams and even call them slow). This alone puts Big mom above the likes of kizaru, the fastest marine. Along with feats such as being able to grab Marco in a chokehold in close range, while marco can intercept light speed at long ranges, means big mom is no slouch in speed. She’s no speed monster, but it’s enough to fight the top tiers.
Conclusion
Big mom is an insanely versatile fighter, fighting her not only is a 1v3, but her insane battlefield control literally making the environment attack you, homies which can’t be put down, insane regen and monstrous durability makes it an incredibly difficult task for any fighter to do any significant damage to her, let alone put her down. It’s about time we put respect back on the strongest women’s name, Big mom!

[Tournament] The Legend of Whitebeard, Edward Newgate

\"There are three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man.” -Patrick Rothfuss
The desire for freedom is powerful, but the desire to protect family is equally powerful. The order of the World Government is powerful, accepted by citizens and enforced by the Marines. To disagree with the Government is to disagree with the World that they establish. This can force good people to make a choice between freedom and family. But when a man can enforce his own order, establish his family and their freedom through his own power, even against the World's status quo, he will always be able to live with those two great necessities in harmony.
The key to this is power. If an entity, whether an individual or a group, wants to be free, they must have the power to do so. The stronger you are, the freer you are. Your strength will scare off certain obstacles, power through others.
So, what must you become to be the world's freest?
The World's Strongest.

The Life of Edward Newgate

https://preview.redd.it/zv7y7g1fflqa1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=6c544e0ab48475f72aeba3fd5876825bc2cbc7f3
Edward Newgate was born on Sphinx Island 74 years ago. At a young age, the orphan Newgate found his island too impoverished to pay the Celestial Dragon's tax, the Heavenly Tribute, and thus were denied membership with the World Government. To support his village, Newgate set out to sea as a pirate and used the treasure he gathered to help out monetarily. However, with no one to look forward to coming home to, all Newgate ever desired as a pirate was to have a family.
In his young life, Newgate joined the Rocks Pirates under captain Rocks D. Xebec. He stayed as one of the crew's members until Captain Rocks went after God Valley, an incident involving the Celestial Dragons. On God Valley, the Rocks Pirates were defeated by Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp and pirate Gol D. Roger, and the crew disbanded.
Newgate went on to form his own pirate crew, the Whitebeard Pirates, with him as their eponymous captain. Among the crew's members during the era preceding the Great Pirate Era were Marco "the Phoenix," "Diamond" Jozu, "Flower Sword" Vista and, for a time, the great samurai of Wano, Kozuki Oden. This crew was known as the only rival to Roger Pirates under Gol D. Roger, and would fight with the crew for days at a time. Newgate and Roger were well known as the greatest pirates of their time, with Newgate having gathered the reputation of "The World's Strongest Man," and were on good enough terms for Roger to borrow Newgate's "brother," Oden, and share the secrets of the Will of D. with Newgate, even offering to tell him where Laugh Tale was. But Newgate refused, as he already had what he wanted from life in his crew: a family.
When the Pirate King was executed, with "Golden Lion" Shiki's escape from Impel Down and disappearance, Newgate was the undisputed King of the Seas, the man closest to the One Piece. With the Great Pirate Era, the great pirate Whitebeard, alongside his former Rocks Pirates crew mates Charlotte "Big Mom" Linlin and "The World's Strongest Creature" Kaido, became known as an Emperor of the Sea, an unbeatable force in the New World. Eventually, "Red Hair" Shanks rose to their status as well, and the four pirates were renowned as the Yonko.
Perhaps the most dangerous pirates to join the Whitebeard Pirates were the young "Fire Fist" Portgas D. Ace, the only son of the Pirate King, and Marshall D. Teach, the pirate who would one day be known as "Blackbeard." One day, the Whitebeard Pirates' 4th Divison Commander, Thatch, found the Yami Yami no Mi, a Logia Devil Fruit regarded as the most dangerous of all. Marshall D. Teach killed him in cold blood, ate the Devil Fruit and abandoned the ship to form his own pirate crew, the Blackbeard Pirates. Ace chased him down and was captured, then given over to the Marines. The Marines announced his execution.

And thus began the Paramount War.
The Whitebeard Pirates and their entire fleet invaded Marineford and fought in war against the Navy and the Seven Warlords of the Sea in a war that changed the world. With the additional support of "Straw Hat" Monkey D. Luffy, the Whitebeard Pirates freed Ace, but before he could escape the island, the Navy Admiral "Akainu" Sakazuki killed Ace. As Newgate's crew attempted to escape, the Blackbeard Pirates infiltrated Marineford and fought Newgate himself.
At the age of 72, with an incurable illness, no scars from cowardice and a bounty from the World Government of 5,046,000,000 Berries, the great pirate Edward "Whitebeard" Newgate died standing at the hand of Marshall D. "Blackbeard" Teach in the War of the Best at Marineford.
Whitebeard's death led to the rise of his former apprentice as the next Emperor of the Sea, the only man who ate two Devil Fruits and lived. All of his territories that he had protected were left to the hands of criminals. The home of the Marines was decimated and they moved their base closer to the New World. But it was the death of the man who stood in front of the throne of the Pirate King and his dying words that sparked a new light in the dying flame of the Great Pirate Era:

A Full Analysis of the Power of the World's Strongest Man

\"It may well be us who will meet our end here today, for that man...\" -Fleet Admiral Sengoku
The great enemy of sailors and pirates alike is the anger of the ocean that separates land from land, the sea that traps men wherever they are. Laws will not stop the wave from crashing into the city; battleships will not deter the whirlpool's twirl; the hunger of the Blue will not be satisfied by pleas for mercy. If one is to fight pirates, they may become a bounty hunter that hunts the greatest of pirates to become a rich man. If one wishes to bring down the World Government, they may join the Revolutionary Army under Monkey D. Dragon. But no armies, no Ancient Weapon, no physical prowess will win a war with the sea. You may win every battle, but defeat is inevitable. Even the great powers offered by the Devil Fruits are rendered most useless against the ocean, with those who eat them losing their strength in the sea's presence. In this sense, those with powers are even more vulnerable to the ocean than the average man.
If a man held the power to command the waves, and ally himself with the power of the ocean, he would truly be seen as a monster among monsters, for he would possess the power of the world, and the power to destroy the world.
That is the power of the Gura Gura no Mi.
The Aqua Laguna that threatens the City of Water is a perfect example of this threat. Every action taken around retrieving Nico Robin and the blueprints for Pluton, both by CP9's superhumans and by the Straw Hats allied with Water 7, was based on the threat of the Aqua Laguna. In the end, CP9 had to leave ahead of the storm, and it took both Luffy and Zoro to successfully protect their sea train from crashing into the Aqua Laguna's waves. The dread of Aqua Laguna, at least until the invention of the sea train, was that the entirety of Water 7 would be destroyed, and it is exactly this that makes the ocean so terrifying. The unrelenting strength of the sea that gives life to all can take life on a scale unprecedented if given the inclination. An island with all its history and culture, countless families, unique flora and fauna, iconic landscape and powerful civilizations, can be totally wiped away and returned to sender if the wrath of Mother Nature is stirred in the wrong manner.
The Gura Gura no Mi offers its user the weight of tectonic plates, the might of continental landmasses colliding. It can trigger quakes in the earth or surrounding sea with impossible speed and scale, or all the energy therein can be focused directly onto a target. All it takes is a simple punch to disturb the atmosphere on other landmasses horizons away, to threaten islands from across the seas. All it takes is the swing of your arms to leave everyone who's feet touches the same earth as yours at the mercy of the world.
However, would this be enough to be seen by the world at large as the World's Strongest Man? The Emperor Blackbeard possesses exactly this cataclysmic potential in addition to a second Devil Fruit, an evil Fruit that cancels the Fruit abilities of all others upon touch, yet he does not enjoy such a reputation. What exactly is the apprentice lacking that the captain held?
Whitebeard was born with the rare advantage of the Haki of the Supreme King, or Conqueror's Haki. While all who work toward it can utilize Observation Haki, for superior sensing, and Armament Haki, for invisible armor, Conqueror's Haki allows a man to vanquish armies by the tens of thousands without moving a muscle. Haki is all but essential for those who wish to pass through the first half of the Grand Line and make a name for themselves in the New World. If you possess incredible Haki, then even those with the greatest of Fruit powers would be beneath your boot unless they could match your Haki with their own. Roger took the world by storm with just the might of his Haki, and both his partner Silvers Rayleigh and his apprentice Shanks managed to gain incredible reputations of their own without any Fruit powers. The World's Strongest Swordsman, Dracule Mihawk, was also not in need of superpowers to gain his title.
Whitebeard's Haki was advanced to its absolute limits, with there being direct proof of Whitebeard using the same advanced applications of Armament Haki (projecting the force of his attack outward, not needing to touch anything to damage it) and Conqueror's Haki (lacing his attack in the Haki, multiplying the strength of the attack) as Roger, both in style and strength. While it currently unproven that Whitebeard advanced his Observation Haki to the point of seeing the future, the same is true of Roger, and since it can reasonably be suspected that the Pirate King who conquered the world without a Devil Fruit is at least capable of basic Future Sight, the same should be suspected of his equal in Whitebeard who would not be able to properly match him with such a glaring disadvantage. The only Haki techniques that cannot be given to Whitebeard by benefit of the doubt are the internal destruction and Observation Killing techniques that have been demonstrated by only other elite Haki users.
The final supplement to Whitebeard's arsenal is his weapon. The naginata, Murakumogiri, is one of only a dozen Supreme Grade Blades in the entire world, other notable examples being Roger's Ace and Mihawk's Yoru. It is as tall as a small building and thus has incredible weight to back up its sharp blade. The durability of the weapon lasted throughout the decades as Whitebeard used it in combat to supplement his tremendous threat to even greater heights, making him just as lethal an opponent as any swordsman.
Even without the Gura Gura no Mi, Haki or Murakumogiri, Whitebeard is still an incredible force on account of his body alone. Standing 21'10, Whitebeard was stronger than the giants of War-Land Elbaf, proving such at the Paramount War against even the largest of Vice Admirals. Despite his size, Whitebeard could fight with impressive speed and leap incredible distances. But his toughness was of an unparalleled tier; in old age and sickness, Whitebeard fought through the entire Paramount War while taking hundreds of bullet wounds, stab wound, cannon wounds and even attacks from the Admirals that blew holes in his body and took half his head off, yet even after receiving enough battle scars to kill a small army, Whitebeard was only defeated once the Blackbeard Pirates entered the scene. He died with enough strength to stay standing. At his heyday, Whitebeard was known to hold fights for days without stopping and still be raring to go.
From every angle, Whitebeard can only be viewed as an elite among elites. Few could beat him in a purely physical sense, few possessed weaponry that rivaled his, few trained their Haki to the heights that he did, and few ate Devil Fruits that are as powerful as his own. No other character can lay claim to having peaked in every single one of these aspects the way that Whitebeard did. All these things in tandem are what make Edward Newgate known as the World's Strongest Man.

The Narrative Importance of Whitebeard

https://preview.redd.it/d64gpwyrolqa1.png?width=564&format=png&auto=webp&s=e1c107a2c6ec6a67a218ad7b3311d7d5acc73892
Alongside Marshall D. Teach and Thatch, Edward Newgate is one of the three characters (besides Edward Weevil, his supposed son) that Oda trusted with pieces of the name of Edward "Thatch" Teach, known popularly in the real world as Blackbeard the Pirate. While Whitebeard is a direct reference to that name, Edward quite literally is the notorious pirate's name. But Edward is not the only important aspect of his name. Newgate can be seen as a reference to the character's importance in the world, with his death opening a New Gate for pirates in the world, changing the world with his demise in the same way the Pirate King did upon his execution. Doflamingo makes clear the necessity of Whitebeard to the order of the Great Pirate Era and directly ties the chaos of the new, worse generation to his absence.
Whitebeard has a direct narrative parallel with Shanks, as both Emperors (the only two introduced in the Great Pirate Era) were the mentor figures to the seed of the worst criminals in history, Roger's son Ace and Dragon's son Luffy, respectively. Both were the only Emperors to show up to Marineford, and the only moral ones anyway. While they aren't perfect reflections of each other, there are definite similarities. And besides Ace, Whitebeard was also the "mentor," or predecessor, of Blackbeard. Two of the most important pirates in the entire story, both under the banner of Whitebeard.
As far as the Yonko system itself goes, Whitebeard was the one who gave them their initial hype. When Garp introduces the concept of the Yonko system to the audience, he uses Whitebeard's name to establish just how impressive Shanks' membership in the system was. We are able to see this because being a Yonko isn't even the penultimate of Whitebeard's statuses; it is directly overshadowed by his reputation as the World's Strongest Man, which itself was only established well because he was Roger's equal. More simply, the hierarchy of Whitebeard's titles goes
The Pirate King's Rival > The World's Strongest Man/Pirate > An Emperor of the Sea
The only other rival to Roger was Garp, who himself was introduced in practically the same way as Whitebeard; other notable names include Shiki and Sengoku, but both were definitively overshadowed by Newgate and Garp. This puts Whitebeard among an exclusive duo: Edward Newgate and Monkey D. Garp.
The only other people to possess a World's Strongest title are Kaido, the World's Strongest Creature, and Mihawk, the World's Strongest Swordsman. This puts Whitebeard among an exclusive trio: Edward Newgate, Kaido and Dracule Mihawk.
And of course, the Four Emperors were a quintet: Edward Newgate, Kaido, Charlotte Linlin and Shanks (later "Blackbeard" Teach, Joy Boy and Buggy as a joke through Mihawk), with Whitebeard singled out as the senior and most notable of them all. On top of these titles, he was seen as the man closest to One Piece, the de-facto Pirate King essentially. No other character has enjoyed the quantity and quality of prestigious reputation that Edward Newgate did, and it is Whitebeard's elderly, sick power that offered the audience a true introduction to the Emperor's power.
https://i.redd.it/3v2nspb9rlqa1.gif
The introduction, of course, was the War at Marineford. To beat Whitebeard in a war was of such importance, was such a monumental task, that Sengoku had Warlords imprisoned merely for refusing to fight for them and gathered the largest force seen before or since just to hold off the Whitebeard Pirates, despite no pirate besides Newgate himself being remotely strong enough to defeat even a single Navy Admiral. Whitebeard fighting the Marines was the cause for worldwide panic and prayers, no doubt due to the god-like scale of his earthquakes. Whitebeard was not allowed by the story to enter the War until he had already been stabbed, and throughout he suffered heart attacks due to his disease. Everything done by Oda was to show that Whitebeard was no longer the same Pirate King's rival, the true monster he used to be.
And Sengoku knew this.
Yet he still put every single resource available, powers that could otherwise be used to protect the Celestial Dragons in the Holy Land, on Marineford, knowing the threat they faced better than perhaps anyone else in the Marines. The strongest Admiral, Sakazuki, learned this threat the hard way when he felt the wrath of a half-dead Whitebeard, effected more by just two of his island-devastating punches than the pirate was by his own head being melted away.

Conclusion

GURARARARARA!
Edward Newgate, the great pirate Whitebeard, possessed might that is rarer than generations. Inhuman physical prowess, world-class weapon, primed Haki and cataclysmic Devil Fruit co-existed in one man's body, the body of the pirate regarded as the strongest of them all. The Pirate King could not defeat him in combat; islands and their societies could not withstand his wrath. The world is his weapon as much as his naginata. This unmatched danger culminated in a bounty worth half a kingdom, annulled upon his world-changing demise.
It was this power that allowed Whitebeard to be free. It was this power that allowed Whitebeard to have a family. And it was his wise love for his family, their freedom, that allowed him to keep his strength.
This is the legend of the World's Strongest Pirate. His name:

2023.03.27 23:53 ZealousidealBig7714 My One Piece Fighting Game Movelist: Weakling Trio

Base mechanics are here.
Monster Trio moves
Nami: Normal
Overview: Nami is a tricky character, relying mostly on her Clouds in order to do any meaningful damage. Nami’s skill is her primary method of doing damage, so make sure to put as many clouds as you can on the field before pressing the button. Nami is a glass cannon who cannot take the damage she can dish out, so be sure to be cautious when playing her.
Unique Mechanics: Clouds: Using certain specials, Nami will create clouds that react with her Skill button to cause unique effects.
Specials:
Ai236 L/M/H: Swing Arm; Nami puts a Ball at the end of her Clima Tact before striking the opponent with it. Light creates a Cool Ball, freezing the opponent. Medium creates a Heat Ball, causing a burning effect. Heavy creates a Thunder Ball, electrifying the opponent.
214 L/M/H: Mirage Tempo: Nami turns invisible for a few seconds. Medium has a longer start up but lasts longer. Heavy makes you invincible as well.
5S: Thunder Ball; Nami will shoot a Thunder Ball into her clouds, causing all clouds on the field to rain a lightning bolt downward. All clouds will also disappear.
214/236 S: Cloudy Tempo: Nami stops and creates some clouds. In the 214 version, she throws her Clima Tact into the air and creates one cloud, causing damage.
Supers:
236 LM/HS: Gust Sword; Nami fires off a blast of air from the Clima Tact.
214 LM/HS: Zeus Breeze Tempo; Nami summons Zeus, creating a devastating thunderbolt.
Usopp: Normal
Overview: Usopp likes being as far away from the opponent as possible. His only true close range option is his counter, the Impact Dial, and his Caltrops are intended to keep his opponents away from him. If you are playing Usopp, stay far, far, far away from the opponent and snipe them out at a distance with his skill.
Specials:
236 L/M/H: Fireball Star; Usopp shoots off a burning pellet from his slingshot, burning the opponent. Medium takes longer but launches three shots. Heavy upgrades it to the Firebird Star, making it invincible.
214 L/M/H: Exploding Star; Usopp launches an exploding pellet at the opponent. Medium turns it into the Blasting Cactus Star, launching a green pellet filled with sharp spikes into the air. Heavy turns it into the Shuriken Meteor Star, Usopp slinging a rapid fire string of shuriken.
22 L/M/H: Caltrops; Usopp reaches into his bag and throws a bunch of caltrops on the ground to prevent opponents from getting in close. Light throws them directly in front of him, Medium throws them a little ahead of him, Heavy puts them in both positions. All fade after a period of time
5S: Lead Star Scope Shot; Usopp stands still and a crosshairs appears on the opponent that can only be escaped via dashing. By releasing the button, Usopp fires a shot, doing decent damage. This shot can be blocked.
236 S: Tobasco Star; Usopp fires a pellet filled with tabasco sauce into the opponent’s mouth, temporarily disabling them.
214 S: Impact Dial; Usopp pulls out an Impact Dial, absorbing an opponent’s attack. If he does the input again, he releases the impact stored in the dial.
Supers:
236 LM: Green Star Impact Wolf; Usopp launches a giant plant Wolf at the opponent.
236 HS: Atlas Comet; Usopp fires four exploding pellets in the formation of an Atlas Beetle.
214 LM/HS: Usopp Diamond Pound; Usopp holds up a 1000 ton hammer before slamming it down on the opponent’s head, revealing it to be a balloon hammer. Usopp then takes advantage of the enemy’s shock to beat them with his actual normal hammer.
Chopper: Normal
Overview: Chopper is a powerful stance character, his Kung Fu Point being based around direct strikes on the ground and his Horn Point being based around launching opponents into the air for easy combos. Mastery of both forms is the base requirement for a decent Chopper player.
Specials:
Kung Fu Point Ai236 L/M/H: Cloven Roseo; Chopper lunges forward, smacking the opponent with his hooves. Medium has a longer startup but goes farther. Heavy gives his lunge invincibility.
Kung Fu Point Ai214 L/M/H: Cloven Roseo Blizzard; Chopper stands still and does a flurry of blows. Medium turns it into a command grab that dies more damage. Heavy makes it do more damage and gives it armor.
Horn Point 236 L/M/H: Roseo Colonnade; Chopper rushes forward, launching the opponent into the air. Medium takes longer to start but goes farther. Heavy makes him invincible.
Horn Point 214 L/M/H: Horn Cannon Elf; Chopper burrows under the ground before launching out. Medium goes farther. Heavy is invincible.
5S: Stance Switch; It’s what it says on the tin. 214/236 S: Stance Switch Special; Chopper will change stances before doing his specials.
22 S: Medicine Toss; Chopper tosses a bit of medicine onto the field that can heal anyone that picks it up.
Supers:
236 LM/HS: Monster Point; Chopper turns into Monster Point, becoming too big to be on screen, Each button serves as a different attack, which I will get into. Light makes him do a fingerpoke of doom, Medium makes him drag his finger across the ground, Heavy makes him punch the ground, and Skill makes him flick the opponent, creating an air blast.
214 LM/HS: Cherry Blossom Assault; Chopper rams into the opponent with Walk Point, before attacking the opponent with a barrage from each one of his Points.
Feel free to give me criticism on them.

2023.03.27 02:37 EnvironmentalEgg2989 Spoiler : Fortune, Glory and Power : The One Piece ( Oda's Genius Code )

https://freeimage.host/i/9782331057939-001-t.HNVhHp2
https://freeimage.host/i/zoom.HNVhfEu

Here it is, the One Piece. A cup for the number one.
Through this analyse I will show you many ways to find de One piece. All leads to the same conclusion.

First, each mugiwara is represented by a number and a color, i call it the "Oda code"
Exemple : Luffy color is RED and number 1
Zoro color is green and number 2
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Straw_Hat_Pirates/Miscellaneous
You can find them here
We are also going to use some chapter's titles and images on title page and you will understand why, later on this analyse.
There are many ways to find the One Piece in colorspreads and i'll show you how. Because yes Oda through colorspreads shows what the One Piece is gonna be too.

https://freeimage.host/i/595-3.HNVh9kl chap595
Here we got our code leading to 2 different chapter 13 and 285
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_13 chap13 "Treasure"
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_285 chap285 "Capriccio"

chap 285 image with the treasure : https://freeimage.host/i/zoom.HNVhfEu

Coincidence? I don't think so and let me show through all this analyse, proofs I have found.

first let me convince you that the "oda code" is true and the colors are not chosen at random most of the time.

Chapter 1028 colorspread is about avent happening at Egghead Island.
https://freeimage.host/i/HNlKnvj
we have 3 codes on Usopp lets start with these two
For the first code I take the chair part on usopp's left, we got 7 and 499
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_7
chapter 7 is named "friends"
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_499
chap 499 is named " sabaody park"
So we have the image of cp 9 on chapter 499 and the title of chapter 7 friends. Looks like a lot with Lucci and Kaku joining forces with mugis

and in this one you can see the cp9 on the title's page
let's continue with the second code on usopp's chair
we still have the 499 but the 7isn't alone now it's 797
chapter 797 https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_797 "Rebecca"

I still don't know because we saw on chapter 499 title's page that there is the cp9, does is means she is with CP or just at Sabaody. But i think it's more about the image too here. Telling us Marine is coming.
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_499

And the MASTERCLASS is on Usopp's hat it anounces Stussy Trahison!!!!
Yellow lightings shape are here to mark the separation betweens each code.

https://freeimage.host/i/1028-4.HNln57e
so The hat gives us 476 / 4 / 76 / 46 and 7
chap 476 https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_476 "Nightmare luffy"
chap4 https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_4"Marine Captain Axe-hand Morgan"
chap46 https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_46" An unvited guest"
chap7 https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_7"Friends"
chap76 https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_76 "Sleep "
so in this order we have chapter
chapter 476 "Nightmare luffy"
chapter 4 "Marine Captain Axe-hand Morgan"
Chapter 76 "Sleep "
chapter 46 " An unvited guest"
chapter 7 "Friends"

We have our sentence ^^ Nightmare luff'ys marine sleep (Rob Lucci). An unvited guest is a friend.(Stussy)
Looks like a lot with Stussy putting Lucci and Kaku to sleep. And joining/helping mugis.
Oda don't give a real answer but more like he wants us to guess.
I invite you all to play with older colorspread with this code, you're gonna be amazed by what you will find.
And there is so much to say about this page but i'll put this aside. I'm here to show you the One Piece and how to find it.

I'll show you here, the first method I've found.

Let's Start with chapter 992 colorspread
chap 992https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_992 "Remnants"

There is a remnant here on this image
https://freeimage.host/i/HNlT7xs

and we can find this castle in chapter 843 color spread too
https://i.imgur.com/fJf19i0.jpeg

It's Kumamoto's castle we have here, with mugis and a big raibow over it. So the big difference here is just the rainbow.

def: plural noun: remnants :
  1. a part or quantity that is left after the greater part has been used, removed, or destroyed."

ok back to chap 992 colorspread and let's check it again.
There is a rainbow on this one but LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK
https://freeimage.host/i/992-3.HNlR1gR

The symbol is way too strong to be ignored for me. Luffy, putting his hat on the raibown, his TREASURE.
Is there a cauldron with gold like in irish legends, at the end of the rainbow???? (that was my first thought when i saw this hat on the raibow)
Starting here, i checked all colorspreads with raibows and..... We don't need all colorspread to find the treasure at the end of the Rainbow but i'll use all other rainbows on every colorspread to convince you all. And there is not only one way to find it.
So let's go to chapter 949 https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_949

We don't need the title here, only the colorspread. And there are 2 codes here leading to the One Piece.
https://freeimage.host/i/949-6.HNlamFa

let's start by the Logo we have 2/9/1 let's check this chapter

https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_291 " I'm right here" and in japanese "Koko ni iru"

KOKO NI IRU IN JAPANESE CAN BE WRITTEN THIS WAY "9 2 1"
so the title leads to another chapter??? let"s see it after i finish with the second code

2nd code : 1/9/2/1 ouuuupps there is no chapter 1921; So i put aside the first "1" cuz it's the one piece.
So we get 921 too...... hmmmm. Seems like an important chapter ^^

so both codes leads to 921 saying I'm there

HANG ON GUYS WE ARE COMING TO THE END OF THIS JOURNEY. LAST COLOR SPREAD TO ANALYSE.

chap921 https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_921 "shutenmaru"
I don't know,if the title has a link with the One piece but we have a color spread

https://i.imgur.com/M8v0JPR.png

Hi ladies, genius Oda as allways. I love you^^
So what to say first, we have our rainbow here too :)

Then one last code to crack, but it's not usual "Oda code", let's see.

1st step starting from perona to Nami you get "PERONA" if you use each girl 1st syllabe
https://freeimage.host/i/3.HNAqY6x
2nd step applying the same for the 2 characters on perona's leftside giving us "SHITA"
https://freeimage.host/i/4.HNAq08B
SHITA means = https://freeimage.host/i/52.HNAqj6v
So i turned Perona down and.....
Last step : https://freeimage.host/i/screenshot-40.HNAq6Pf

Here we got Perona pointing to her umbrella; upside down it looks like a cup/ cauldron. I'm not 100% sure cause there are a lot links with Food too.

Now i'll put here all raibows and what they means, there are still few where i'm not sure about them. But ill put them here too maybe someone can find something. And we know too why Roger was there too early. THE MEAL WAS JUST NOT READY YET :D .
Bon Appettit
Thank you so much for reading me if you came this far, let me know what you all think

Starting here u are gonna be amazed for how long Oda cooked this plan. The oldest colorspread is from chapter 226.
Here, you can see we can put all color spread in few groups categories.

Music
https://i.imgur.com/i6neUyc.jpeg chap 304
https://imgur.com/a/xN9KorZ chap 717

I'll explain this one, just under the big umbrella, u can see a number leading to chapter 15
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_15 chap 15 "GONG"

Here i guess it's the sound it can makes or maybe just the gong at the start of a race to win the cup.

I don't know yet, i don't want to say wrong things here, I need more analyse here.
https://i.imgur.com/Kuywh0X.png chap 226
https://i.imgur.com/jldVQz6.pngchap 642
https://i.imgur.com/68yyhED.jpeg chap 900
https://i.imgur.com/BYS6hii.jpeg 1028

I'll finish by one of my favorite one, almost everything is here and even Gold D Roger eating inside cups.
https://i.imgur.com/i3lYmWc.jpeg

we can find our 2 umbrellas, rainbows inside cups too with ice and a the little umbrella again leading to chapter 291 stuck to the watermelon.....

https://freeimage.host/i/HN0KxbR

And everyone reaction looks like them when finding the One Piece ><

Thanks for reading me, let me know what you all think about it. TELL ME IF I'M CRAZY, but i'm sure there is no coincidence here. When so much links are purposely made.
Oda is a genius beyond what we all thought.
Conclusion : follow rainbows ><
Now Oda sensei, I want what was promised for the one piece finder^^
Where is my Fortune, Glory and Power??? :D

2023.03.27 02:15 BoundlessFate1 I’m Only Seeing Criticism

I understand this is Piratefolk, but I literally only see people ripping on every small thing in every chapter. I never see anyone actually pointing out what was done right. This server only spews criticism, and OnePiece is just a ton of dick riders who can’t see a flaw. I have never seen someone give praise where it’s needed and criticism where it’s needed.

2023.03.26 22:43 ZealousidealBig7714 My One Piece Fighting Game Movelists: Monster Trio

Basic mechanics for the game in general are here.
Luffy: Normal
Overview: Luffy is an incredibly aggressive rushdown character, made to start combos and never end them. His skill button is best used to start combos from the air or ground, or to extend them further. He’s good in the air or on the ground, but doesn’t have many options in terms of defense.
Specials:
236 L/M/H: Gum Gum Jet Pistol; Luffy fires off a Gear 2 punch, Medium increases it to two punches, Heavy turns it into Red Hawk applying a burning effect.
214 L/M/H: Gum Gum UFO; Luffy spins his legs to move across the stage. Medium version is faster and goes a further distance. Heavy version has super armor and goes full screen.
22 L/M/H: Gum Gum Ax; Luffy shoots his leg into the air before slamming it back down. Medium goes higher. Heavy is invincible and goes faster
Air 236 L/M/H: Gum Gum Fireworks; Luffy fires off all of his limbs randomly in various different directions. Medium gives a hard knockdown, and heavy is invincible.
Air 214 L/M/H: Gum Gum Spear; Luffy fires off his legs in a pointed manner. You probably know what to expect from the medium and heavy at this point.
5S/2S: Gum Gum Bell; Luffy stretches out, grabs the opponent, and does a headbutt. This grab is for do combo, not for big number. The down version is for opponents in the air.
Ai236 S: Gum Gum Snake Shot; Luffy stretches out his arm in a wavy pattern before grabbing the enemy hard.
Ai214 S: Gum Gum Fire Salute: Luffy inflates himself, just like a bahlloon, and reflects any projectile attack attacking him.
Supers:
236 LM: Gum Gum Elephant Gatling; Luffy inflates his fists with Gear 3 before unleashing a massive barrage of attacks. By spending another bar of meter, you can finish it with Gum Gum Thor Elephant Gun, electrifying his final punch.
236 HS: Gum Gum Red Roc; Luffy combines his Gear 2 and Gear 3 with Armament Haki to light his giant fist on fire and create the ultimate punch.
214 LM/HS: Gear 4; Luffy activates Gear 4 Boundman/Snakeman depending on the buttons as an install. Doing the motion again allows use of his Level 3 Supers, either Overkong Gun or Black Mamba
Zoro: Normal
Overview: Zoro is the definition of all around. He doesn’t excel in any regard, but is generally good at everything. His skill buttons are all ranged attacks, to fulfill that true all around mindset. He’s a perfect character for people picking up the game for the first time.
Specials:
Ai236 L/M/H: Oni Giri; Zoro lunges forward with all three of his swords. The medium version has a longer start up, but goes farther. The heavy version gives it a burning effect and has super armor.
214 L/M/H: Tatsu Maki; Zoro spins in place, creating a tornado of cut that hits above him. Light does instant damage, Medium lasts longer and does damage over time, Heavy launches and does more damage.
Air 214 L/M/H: Flying Dragon Blaze; Zoro flies down to the ground as a finishing strike for aerial combos. Medium makes the user go straight down. Heavy gives a hard knockdown and a bounce.
5S: Zoro swings his sword, firing a small slice of air. It’s a combo tool.
Ai236 S: 360/720/1080 Pound Phoenix: Zoro swings his sword harder, creating a strong blast of wind. He can charge it up to become stronger and faster.
Super:
Ai236 LM: Ichidai Sanzen Daisen Sekai; Zoro spins his blades, creating a vacuum effect, before delivering a devastating slash attack.
Ai236 HS: Death Lion’s Song; Zoro performs a devastating Iaido slash using all of his Meter. Air version forces the opponent to the ground.
Ai214 LM/HS: Purgatory Oni Giri; Zoro performs an extremely powerful version of his Oni Giri attack. If this misses, there will be a massive shockwave behind him.
Sanji: Normal
Overview: Sanji is a very aggressive rushdown character, using his powerful rekka strings to do a lot of damage in a short amount of time. This man is made for one thing and that is combos, while also being one of the faster characters in the game.
Specials:
Ai236 L/M/H: Reception; Sanji jumps at the opponent and kicks the back of their head. Medium forces a side switch. Heavy gives it a hard knockdown.
Ai214 L/M/H: Party Table Kick Course; Sanji spins around on his hand, trapping any opponent caught in it. Medium takes longer, but does more damage. Heavy takes both the start up of the Light version and the damage of the Medium version, as well as a bit of invincibility for good measure.
5S: Collier; The neutral startup of Sanji’s rekka groupings.
Air 5S: Basse Cote; The air startup
6S: Kick L’Oeil; Overhead startup
236 S: Special Order; Sanji tosses a plate of food onto the ground that anyone can eat, healing a bit of health.
Supers:
Ai236 LM: Bien Cuit Grill Shoot; Sanji, using Diable Jambe, does a real good kick.
Ai236 HS: Hell Memories; Sanji, remembering his awful memories, lights his entire body on fire before attacking the opponent
Ai214 LM/HS: Ifrit Jambe; By combining his genetically enhanced body, his Armament Haki, and his natural prowess with Diable Jambe, Sanji lights his foot up even hotter before doing a combo on the opponent.
Feel free to give criticism. I admit that I have some misgivings about these ones, given that they’re some of the earliest designs I made.

2023.03.26 22:26 ZealousidealBig7714 My One Piece Fighting Game Movelists: Monster Trio

2023.03.25 23:42 HokageEzio Why did Oda make him a Conqueror? A look at shared losses with Luffy and why you should still believe in this character being important in the story (Chapter 1079)

TL;DR - Summary

All of the reasons that people are saying that the lost to Shanks is taking Kid out of the race are the same losses that Luffy has taken over the course of the series. The loss of their ship and the crew being eradicated only made the Straw Hats stronger, and I think the wording being the exact same from the Narrator should not be ignored or taken as a sign that Kid is out of the race. It's simply far too on the nose to be used as a throwaway line of Kid's defeat. I believe the Underworld works out of Elbaf, and this sets Kid up through his Underworld connections to build a new ship of Adam wood just like the Straw Hats. Shanks leaving Elbaf also clears a path for Kid to still be the main villain of Elbaf. The Kid Pirates will come back stronger.

Comparisons to Luffy's losses

Kid just got one shotted in a fashion I have rarely seen in any series. If Kid is your favorite character, I honestly feel bad. I wouldn't describe myself as a Kid fan, but this is still a character that I believe serves a larger purpose in the story than getting turned into scrap metal by Shanks. I just don't think Oda would have this character moved along throughout the story for 15 years just to make Shanks look good. Shanks doesn't need that to look good, they literally made a whole movie for this dude lol.
I think what we're seeing for Kid is a series of defeats very similar to Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates that will make him actually strong enough to be a rival to Luffy. Obviously he's going to lose in the end, Luffy is going to be Pirate King. But I just couldn't disagree more with the people saying Oda is just cutting the fat to get to the finish line as fast as possible. I have more faith in his ability as an author than that, and I don't think disliking a character means that their narrative purpose has been served whenever they're done helping Luffy look good.
Like I referred to in the title, I think Luffy and Kid's greatest defeats are mirroring each other until they eventually square off.

Loss of their beloved ship

I see a bunch of people saying Kid has to be out of the race for the One Piece, just look at their ship. How can they possibly get to the finish line first? Well, let's ask Luffy the same thing. Did Luffy's journey end when the Going Merry passed away? Nope. They rebuilt and kept going, with the Merry carrying them as long as she could.

Losing a ship does not mean the end of the journey.
Kid's ship, the Victoria Punk, is named after his old friend and childhood crush who died when he was young. People think that because this is something Oda elaborated on in the SBS it's proof that he doesn't care about the character and is just trying to get it out of the way and move on. I disagree. I think he's building up the emotional connection that almost surely exists in them naming the ship after her. And while it's surely a tough loss, Luffy's crew is proof that you can absolutely rebuild. Loss of a ship is not the end of the journey.
I'll even take it a step further; I wouldn't be surprised if the Klaubterman for the Victoria Punk in some way has Victoria's spirit.
People say Kid has to be doomed because he sunk in the water with no ship or back up around to help them. But is this not exactly what happened to the Straw Hats at Enies Lobby? How were the Straw Hats supposed to escape from Enies Lobby? Well... by the end, they weren't. They were doomed, but Merry used the last bit of her spirit to save them with a little help from Iceburg. I don't think it would be a huge leap for the Victoria Punk to save the Kid Pirates and get them to safety.
We've seen ships do crazier things.

Death of a childhood friend

Victoria Shiruton Doruyanaika was Kid and Killer's childhood friend who was killed by a rival gang in their home country. As stated by Oda in the SBS:
Q: Is there a reason why Kid and Killer became pirates? And what’s the story behind Heat and Wire joining them?
Oda: Of course there’s a story. These four were born on a certain island in South Blue, Kid and Killer knew each other since they were kids. The country they live in is not allied with the WG, and a gang ruled the country as if they’re royalties. There’re 4 districts on the island, each of them have their own outlaw group, and the 4 leaders are Kid, Killer, Heat and Wire. There were conflicts every single day.
One day, Kid’s close friend was killed by the gang, her name was “Victoria S Doruyanaika”(Kid and Killer’s crush revealed in previous sbs). Kid, in his rage, united the four group and took down the mightiest force in the country, the gang.
“I don’t want to stay in a closed world like this!” And like that he took his friends and form a pirate crew with them, naming their ship “Victoria Punk”.
I don't have to tell you about Luffy's childhood friends dying. Frankly, take your pick. Either Sabo being "killed" when he set sail from Foosha Village or Ace dying in Luffy's arms.

What I found pretty interesting though is that the mindset of why Kid decided to set sail is very similar to Sabo, just living the opposite life.
I'm sure there are stories like this across a bunch of pirates in the story, I just think there's a pretty clear parallel in why Luffy and Kid both set sail. And it was largely inspired by the death of a childhood friend.

Getting absolutely dunked on by a Yonkou

Kid got absolutely destroyed by Shanks. But I don't see how it's any different than Luffy getting one shotted by Kaido. If anybody is in line for Haki blooming, it's Kid with the amount of shit he gets himself in.
It's a tough blow, but it can just as easily be a learning experience like Luffy's first loss (and second... and third... and fourth...) was to Kaido.

Eradicated

Some people are saying that this has to take Kid out of the race because the Narrator came through and said that the crew was eradicated. There are even people using that as an argument to say he's dead (seriously what series are you guys reading who believe this). If the narrator coming in and saying that a crew is eradicated is proof that they are dead or out of the running for One Piece, somebody should really tell Luffy and the crew that they've been dead for the last two years.

The Straw Hats were eradicated on Sabaody Archipelago, and it wasn't until the following chapters when we learned what that meant. They took the ultimate loss.
There is no chance that a call back this direct is not on purpose. I'll use this to link back to a previous post I made pointing out the many parallels of Egghead Island to Sabaody Archipelago and Post Enies Lobby. Add yet another connection and proof of the validity of that analysis.

Kid is down, but he's not out

Kid is in about as bad a spot as we've seen a character, but I don't see how this eliminates him in the story. All of the reasons that people are saying this eliminates Kid from being a factor in the story are things that we've seen happen to the Straw Hats. Like people who are saying that he's out because he no longer has a ship, if that was the case Luffy's journey would have ended ages ago. I would argue that the Adam Tree is from Elbaf to begin with, being near Elbaf would put him right in position to get a ship upgrade. I think we have pretty solid information suggesting that the Underworld operation going on throughout the One Piece world traces to Elbaf (for example, Mother Carmel's operation).

The Underworld headquarters is ran out of Elbaf

Like I pointed out, I think we can tie a large portion of the Underworld market in One Piece to Elbaf and I think that will be the main portion of conflict in that arc when we finally get there. Where else would be better to run a secretive operation outside of the eyes of the Marines than a secluded society filled with monsters that nobody wants to mess with? Just look at what Cipher Pol said to Mother Carmel after Big Mom killed Jorul

They never thought she would leave Elbaf.
Why would they think that this character who has been working for the Underworld for decades wouldn't leave Elbaf... unless Elbaf is the home of the Underworld? It puts the market for her activities right next to her. Not to mention Franky engaging in Underworld activities before he became a Straw Hat. This was how he was able to buy Adam wood with the money he stole from the Straw Hats before becoming their friend.
To this day we still have so much mystery surrounding the Underworld operations that Doflamingo was so tied up in.
And while Kid isn't a Broker, we did learn in Punk Hazard that he was connected with the Underworld and aware of the going ons. I wouldn't be surprised if this is how he knows who the man with the burn scar is to begin with.

Kid has some knowledge of the Underworld that we still need to learn as an audience and as the Straw Hat crew.

Why did Oda make Kid a Conqueror?

This is a question that I've asked in pretty much every discussion of Kid since it was revealed that Kid and Shanks were on Elbaf together. One Piece is a story written by an author, and that author makes decisions for what will close out certain narratives. That's how storytelling works. So the question I ask people who think that Kid will serve no more importance; Why did Oda make Kid a Conqueror?

The group of known Conquerors in One Piece is incredibly short.
People have suggested that Kid has Conqueror's Haki because it would boost his resume and make Shanks look good. And I truly do not understand this argument at all. If that was truly Kid's role in the story, he doesn't need Conqueror's Haki in order to serve that purpose. If Law went to Elbaf instead of Kid and got one shotted by Shanks, I doubt anybody would be sitting here saying "yeah that's cool, but Law isn't a Conqueror so it's not that impressive." Because that would be silly. Oda could have made Kid as good with his Devil Fruit as Law is and it still would have shown just how strong Shanks is whether he was a Conqueror or not.
Kid did not even use Conqueror's in the fight with Big Mom. Excluding the anime, all we have is Kaido telling us that Kid is a Conqueror and nothing else. So again, why did Oda add this at all? This isn't like Armament Haki where everybody and their mother has it at this point, this is a very exclusive group of characters. And being Conquerors serves a very in your face narrative purpose for almost all of these characters, with the rest still having future roles to play in the story.
Conquerors are all important characters. This is not a power that Oda just hands out. Until we can answer the question of why Kid is a Conqueror, his narrative is not complete. Don't take my word for it; take Kid's (and Oda's).

If I die now, what was the point of my whole pirating career?

Conclusion

I think we're seeing the path clear for Kid to be the antagonist of Elbaf, even with as shaky as it looks for now. We can pretty confidently say Shanks is not going to be on Elbaf, that possibility was erased last chapter. Blackbeard probably has to get ready for war with Garp. Big Mom is definitely still a possibility, but she has much bigger issues to actually gather her crew first and get to Elbaf (including rescuing Pudding). I think Kid will come back having gone through the same growth that Luffy went through in the Udon mines and by the time Luffy gets to Elbaf, Kid will actually be strong enough to be his rival.
Kid has not served his entire narrative purpose. And because of that, I'm keeping my Kid stocks. I would advise you all to not sell just yet.
