2023.03.21 19:00 SwampHag4815 This is so dumb, but this disease actually has made me, a white person, offended by CRT. Please help.
I'm already prepared to be crucified for this so please just give it to me straight lol. Apologies in advance for a long and potentially very triggering post (TW ed and racism)
So CRT in this context refers to Critical Race Theory, and it has been a hot-button issue in the last few election cycles in the US because some parents are convinced that it is being taught to their elementary school aged children and they don't want that.
The school that I received my certification from for my career offers an online portal with continuing education classes. These are self-guided and not graded; you receive credits for completing the course. It consists of 6-10 two hour long video lectures with optional assignments to complete after each. My school recently started offering a course called "Dismantling Racism in (Our Profession)." The description said it contextualizes the issues using CRT framework to help us confront our biases and avoid things like microaggressions in the workplace. That sounded perfect to me-I get to learn how to be a better ally AND learn what the heck CRT actually is, as opposed to whatever Ron DeSantis says it is this week. So I downloaded the course.
To give some background for me, I am in my 30s, and, as indicated in the title a White PersonTM. I have an anxiety disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, for which I take medication. I have also dealt with disordered eating since puberty. I went to therapy for it as a teenager but had to stop at 18 when I was bumped off my parents' insurance. It was ok though because I had officially "recovered," meaning I had started menstruating again after years of having no period. I am happy to say that I have been menstruating ever since, but I unfortunately never really recovered in my mind. A habit that I started on purpose as a teen but has become second nature is that I essentially take every little thing as a sign from the universe that I should lose weight. My reflection is distorted in a storefront window? Time to restrict! Someone walks around me on the sidewalk? They clearly gave me a wide berth because I am a wide person and therefor it's a sign to diet. That kind of thing. I never realized I was still unconsciously doing it or how destructive that kind of thinking was until now.
I downloaded the Dismantling Racism course and am having a lot of trouble getting through the third lecture. First lesson was "Intro to CRT" and it was great, very informative. The problem is that four times in these first two and a half lectures, the instructor has looked straight at the camera and said some variation of "You white women are taking up too much space. Yes, you. You who are sitting there watching me now, you take up too much room." Now obviously she doesn't mean taking up physical space but rather metaphorical space (things like talking ovefor marginalized people), but my disordered ass is hearing this loud and clear as a call to start restricting more. We are currently in Lent and I'm fasting for religious reasons, and unfortunately once I start restricting it becomes addictive and I think I'm looking for any excuse to restrict more.
If the instructor only said this once I could get past it, but it comes up every few minutes and she really does her best to make it feel personal. And the assignment for lecture 2 was literally to "examine all the ways you are taking up too much room." The language in general is also vaguely fatphobic, which is weird because while the overall course is about racism, one of the later lectures is on LGBTQA issues, ableism, and fatphobia. I'm honestly interested to hear what she says about fatphobia after the way she speaks about larger bodies in general (it's never disparaging to them, more of using them as a comparison to POC but it feels weird because she doesn't acknowledge that one can be both). But to get to that lecture I have to figure out a way to stop taking this personally and letting it trigger me. I'm of three minds about the whole thing.
Mind 1 is my rational brain, which is saying to me You are not the main character, bitch. How DARE you turn actual issues into something about your Fragile White Feelings? You've literally turned into the kind of person you hate the most.
Mind 2 is my eating disorder brain, which is saying Watch the lectures for the free meanspo. Embrace the self-hatred. Transcend and grow *~*SKiNnI*~*
Mind 3 is the part of me that doesn't WANT this damn ED. I don't like spending my every waking moment thinking about food or my body. The reason I like doing these continuing ed lectures in the first place is that they offer distraction from all that. I downloaded this course to learn how to be more compassionate to others; surely it's not too much to ask that the course instructor show compassion to those with larger bodies and/or eating disorders?
If you've read this far, thank you. I could really use some advice. Ideally about how to stop taking things personally and finish the course. I've tried imagining the instructor saying something else when she talks about how much space I take up, but it isn't working out so well. I also considered that I could wait until after Lent to continue it so I can avoid compounding my triggers, but then after Easter comes Summer Body season, which is triggering in its own way, so I could wait until fall. Which is the most privileged shit ever! Billions of people deal with racism every day and I have the option of waiting a few months to think about it??? That's fucked up and I don't like it. I expected this course to make me uncomfortable but not for this reason. I can't afford therapy and I also can't afford a full-blown relapse that will send me to the hospital. Please help!

2023.03.21 18:49 _TheLonelyStoner Yuji is meant to be the perfect jujutsu sorcerer
I think that Yuji Itadori will become essentially the perfect Jujutsu being. What I mean by that is he will have all the advantages of a heavenly restriction user (Maki, Toji) while also having the ability to use CE/CT.
Yuji was birthed while Kenjaku possessing the body of Kaori Itadori. We don’t know what but given his history of experimenting on fetuses it’s a given that he did some sort of manipulation to make him more than normal. I think when Yuji was born without a CT, kenjaku considered it a failure and pivoted his plan to instead use Yuji as a vessel to house Sukuna for the purposes of the culling game and his grand amalgamation plan, while also simultaneously also using Sukuna to imprint a CT into Yuji’s body. I believe that Kenjaku manipulated things so that Yuji would consume the finger but end game the plan was always to either find Sukuna a new host or assumed that Sukuna would find a way out of the “cage” on his own. Either way the result is Yuji Itadori with a superhuman body and presumably one of the most powerful CTs ever along with a revived Sukuna existing same time.
He says that and that Yuji role as a vessel is over but also says that’s the cycle of curves will never end as long as Yuji and Sukuna coexist
I believe that Kenjaku has never actually put Yuji in danger. Megumi was around when the first curse showed up and He sent the disaster curses after him but knew that Sukuna would never actually allow them to kill Yuji for good. All the while eliminating people close to Yuji, helping him get stronger, and also moving his grand plan forward as well.
Kenjaku told Yuji he expects big things of him after his fight with Mahito and then Separately addresses Sukuna. If there was truly no other purpose for Yuji why even waste breath to address him, it’s not like Yuji has any idea that Kenjaku is his parent
Final thought I’m adding is that Sukuna himself see’s potential in Yuji now. He was impressed by his Strength post soul sepeation and then allowed him to live after the fight. He gives Urame the excuse that’s it’s funny but then gives a interesting look to Yuji as they’re leaving. He even told Yuji he was “boring” to me that meant he knows Yuji could do more but is disappointed by the fact that he can’t even realize it.
This is all I can think of rn but main point is Yuji will end up being the best of both worlds and that was the original goal for him.
Also I believe Yuji is the catalyst driving everything Kenjaku has done from the point of the story we came in at

Basic Festival & Ticketing information
When can I check in to the campgrounds?
Insomniac put together a handy entry guide for camping that is available here
What are the guidelines for camping? I have more questions related to camping!
Insomniac put together their camping guidelines and camping FAQ pages related to camping and they are very informative. I'm not going to re-type all this information here, so use the links provided.
My wristband/parking pass/shuttle pass hasn't come yet!
Be patient, they will be shipping out over 100k+ packages when they go out. You can also call Front Gate Tickets to see where your shipment is and/or set up will call pickup @ 888.512.7469. Also here's the Front Gate Tickets Support Site.
If you are coming from outside of the USA, you have no choice but to go to will call for your tickets. Please see the above event information for the box office location and hours.
I have tickets/shuttle passes/parking passes to sell!
Check out EDCTickets! Remember, even though our community is friendly, caring, and kind, there are ticket scammers out there that are willing to take advantage. Be vigilant, if something seems to good to be true, it probably is. Trust your instincts.
Where can I register my Wristband? Do I have to register my wristband?
You can register it here. The only way to recover your wristband if it is lost or stolen is to have it registered. Additionally, there is emergency contact information stored in your wristband as part of the registration process, if anything should happen to you. There is a $40 fee for a replacement wristband.
Well this is embarassing, I didn't listen to everyone and put my wristband on early/on the wrong hand, how can I get it off? I sold my wristband after I attended one of the nights, how can I get it off without damaging it?
Here's a short how-to video to remove the wristband without damaging anything. DON'T PUT YOUR WRISTBAND ON UNTIL FRIDAY BEFORE YOU LEAVE YOUR HOTEL! It goes on your right wrist, and should be able to fit a finger underneath for breathing room.
I'm going solo to the fest, how can I make friends, I need a place to stay, etc.
There are several ways of doing this. You can use the search function on the subreddit. There's also some Facebook groups dedicated to solo journeys to EDC. Once again, trust your instincts here and only stay with people that you can properly personally have vetted ahead of time.
Also, check the useful links above for ride shares, hotel shares, and tent shares!
Live sets just aren't doing it for me, I need a feel for what this place is like before I attend!
Check out Electric Daisy Carnival 2000, Under the Electric Sky, or The Electric Daisy Carnival Experience trailer from when the festival was still in L.A. If you can find The Electric Daisy Carnival Experience online for free somewhere or even for a couple bucks to stream it, I think it's a much better movie than the Under the Electric Sky movie.
FAQ
When do the set times drop? When does the app update? I can't find the app on the app store, what gives?!
Set times and app updates usually happen the week of the festival. The Insomniac app will update the week of the festival, so go ahead and install it now if you want to.
What about pool parties or other EDC Week events?
Official site here for a list of events and tickets. There's also going to be parties and pools at the campground.
What time should I leave the strip? How long does it take to get to/from to the speedway? What time should I leave the event to beat traffic?
EDC is not like a local DJ show and Las Vegas traffic SUCKS. Parking lots open at 2PM, so I would strive to leave the strip right around that time. Without traffic it will take you anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. The longer into the night you wait to leave the worse off traffic will be and the longer it will take to get to the show. I have heard nightmare scenarios of 2 or 3 hour shuttle rides, so don't let it happen to you!
Typically, you can leave before the sunrise sets or about halfway through it and not have too bad of a wait in traffic back to the strip in the morning! At the end of night 3, keep in mind normal people are also heading to work since it will technically be Monday morning. That's just going to add to the clusterfuck of traffic on I-15 and Las Vegas Blvd. Plan accordingly! If you are driving have a cooler in the trunk with water bottles!
Are we doing the Reddit meetup again this year?
We sure are. Check out the links up top regarding information on where and when we are meeting up. We are going to have two simultaneous meetups, one for campers and one for people on the Strip. All information is contained in the post linked at the very top!
What can I bring into the festival? What can't I bring into the festival? What are the searches like?
The searches could be TSA style, or you could barely get touched at all. It's pretty random. Consider stash boxers or compression underwear to get your favors inside or items that are disallowed like LED gloves, etc.
If you take your time to observe the security, you can usually get a feel of who is being a hard-ass for a dime raise for busting someone and who is just doing their job quickly and efficiently.
As for allowed and disallowed items, here's a link to those lists as well as totem guidelines.
Bring a gallon zip lock bag and put all of your belongings that you want to bring into the festival in it while you are waiting in line. All three days last year security complimented me on being organized and how easy I made their jobs because they could just scan the items in the bag, check my camelbak, give me the pat down and I was on my way.
Seriously, if you make security's lives easier in this way, they will not hassle you at all as long as you aren't trying to bring in stuff that isn't allowed. I didn't even get pat down on Night 2 because I was so up-front about all my belongings.
Any further questions, feel free to comment below, or visit the EDC Las Vegas Guide page!
Tips and Tricks!
- Put an Emergency Contact Information (ICE) on your phone's lock screen. Android or Apple. This serves as two things.. One, if you lose your phone, someone can try to get it back to you. TWO, if you get hurt or fall out, the medics on site can get in contact with someone you know.
- Call your bank/credit card companies and let them know you will be traveling to Vegas to avoid holds on your account.
- Be vigilant on the Strip. Everyone is trying to hustle. Street performers will expect tips if you take pictures!
- Hit up a Vegas buffet at least one day.
- Stretch beforehand in your hotel room. Your muscles will thank you in the morning!
- Wear comfy shoes and/or get insoles to replace the "stock" insoles that come with your shoes. Also, consider moleskin if your feet are prone to blistering from rubbing against your socks. Your feet will thank you!
- Get to the festival early. Stop by the merchandise tent first thing. Items sell out fast. Consider a mobile charging locker to store your merchandise in! Additionally, if you bring all of your sealed items in on the first day (wipes, chapstick, cigarettes, gum, tampons, etc), you can keep them all in your locker overnight and not have to worry about getting 3 of each sealed item to bring in every single day. REMEMBER! Hide your lock combo from people that may peer over your shoulder or look at your combination wristband and try to get into your locker. Remain vigilant inside the festival!
- After you get your merch and put it in your locker, you next stop should be one of the free water stands to fill up your hydration pack or water bottle. It's very important to remain hydrated, especially while the sun is still out and bearing down on you! If you tip some of the vendors, they will give you ice if the warm water turns you off.
- If you need to eat something, consider the food trucks instead of the concession stand food. The food trucks have their company name out there and on the line when compared to the generic concession stand stuff, the quality of the food is unparalleled. Don't make the same mistake as I did a few years ago and get a raw onion sandwich masked as a "cheese steak".
- Bring earplugs! Tinnitus sucks!
- Wear sunscreen! Remember, if you are staying all night the sun is up at like 5AM and starts beaming down on you almost immediately.
- If you want to ride the rides, get there early or risk missing sets while standing in line! Some rides you will be waiting for an hour or more at peak times.
- Time-stamp your texts! There will be cell service congestion. Stamping your texts will help your friends know whenever you truly sent a message!
- Bring an external battery pack in with you to charge your phone if you are someone who likes to take a lot of photo and video!
- Bring cash. Credit and debit cards could possibly be hit or miss if the speedway's internet network would happen to shit the bed! Don't be stuck without a way to pay for something you need!
- Remember to take it easy night 1! EDC is a marathon not a sprint!
- Emergen-C packets are a lifesaver. Take one before the festival every night in order to help you recover from the night before and prepare for the festival ahead!
- Take some time to look up and enjoy the fireworks!
- Don't forget about the EDC parade down Rainbow Road every night! You should at least try to check it out one time out of the three nights you are there! Check the app for times, but it should be around midnight every night!
- Follow your favorite artists' social media so that you know if they may show up unannounced, or if they are doing any surprise sets on one of the art cars, etc.
- Send a post card to back home at the EDC Town Post Office. Mine took until October in 2017 to land, but it was a nice surprise when it finally did! Check out EDC Town in general. It's pretty sweet.
- If you are feeling at all dehydrated or anything else medical related, visit one of the medical tents. Staff is super friendly and you WILL NOT get in trouble for seeking medical treatment, no matter your condition. If you can't make it to the medical tent, look for a Ground Control staff member to assist you or any of your friends! Look out for your fellow ravers. If you see something, say something! This will keep everyone safe and having a good time.
- If you are going to do drugs, and especially MDMA, I suggest only doing it 1 out of the 3 nights and finding something else for the other two days. Just to let you know as an example of responsible use, in 2017 we did edibles and shatter the first night, rolled night 2, and just chilled with some shatter night 3. Everyone is different, but be safe, and TEST YOUR SHIT. Do not buy drugs at the festival. Not only do you risk getting bunk shit, but undercover cops are everywhere!
- If you are going to drink alcohol, do so in moderation and stay hydrated! For every alcoholic drink you have, you should drink 8-16oz of water!
- If you are a lady, bring wipes! Usually the porta-potties run out of toilet paper. It's just a fact of the festival and usually they don't get resupplied until the following day. You will thank me if you get caught in this situation.
- Bring a hand fan for the water lines! They can get pretty hot and people will love you!
- Try to catch at least one sunrise set one of the nights. I recommend night 2, since everyone and their mothers will be staying on night 3. Plus, Monday morning rush hour traffic on night 3 is no bueno.
- If you have a large crew and need to split up to see different sets, plan a meeting spot! Try to pick something that is stationary, like the locker area, the cooling area, one of the buildings in EDC Town, etc.
- Buy a smoothie or a lemonade. They are a nice change of pace from warm hydrant water.
- Get a bandana and tie it around your neck for each night you are out there. Put it over your mouth and nose when the dust gets to be too much. Your lungs will thank you, plus you get to look like a bandit. Win/win.
- Trains of people going in and out of the crowd are going to happen, so use them to your advantage. Become the caboose to go into or out of the crowds and use your manners! Excuse me, thank you, etc go a long way when navigating the crowd!
- Bring good vibes, leave the judgement at the gates, and most of all, enjoy yourself and smile! EDC is a glorious wonderland of fun. Extrude the vibes you wish to receive back to you and you will have a great time, I promise!

2023.03.21 18:35 doc_shades "Pawns" vs. "Colonists"
oh just a subtle thing i noticed. but some players (and the game documentation) refers to the played "controlled" characters in this game as "pawns". however i prefer to refer to them as "colonists".
again, it's a subtle distinction but to me it comes from a place of autonomy and respect. i respect my colonists and respect their autonomy. i will guide them and even force their hand to perform certain tasks, but in the grand scheme of things they are allowed to make their own micro-decisions and go about their lives in the manner they see fit. i wish the best for them and actively want them to succeed.
the term "pawn" to me implies someone who is used, possibly against their will, by a higher poweplayer. the "pawns" in chess are disposable frontline meat shields. a "pawn" is the type of character you harvest organs from.
i'm curious how many people pay attention to the "pawn/colonist" distinction and if there are any other impacts on play styles.
like i wonder if someone who uses the term "pawns" is more likely to harvest organs or mistreat their characters than someone who uses "colonists"?
(personally i try to empathize with my colonists but of course i also love hearing stories of other players who antagonize or outright mistreat their pawns!)

2023.03.21 18:33 Foreign_Memory Tips for surviving cutting contact with my parents?
I'm an 18 years old Canadian trans man and I currently live with my sister. When I came out 3 years ago, my mother was very supportive, making efforts to say my right pronouns and stop being judgmental of me shopping in the men's section. It all changed when I started testosterone HRT 4 months ago, though. She was worried for me when I started and it really seemed to simply be motherly worry.
Since then though, she has been telling me really transphobic things and monologuing me when I call her out. It especially worsened as my grand-parents stopped talking to our family and she wants me to stop HRT to ''make their grieving process smoother''. I don't feel safe from her comments and rants, I feel like she could harm me verbally, emotionally and financially. For that reason, I'm planning of cutting off contact with her.
I seeking any advice anyone might have to make sure I don't run through danger by cutting contact with my parents. I'd especially appreciate hearing about others who might have gone through the same situation.
Thanks a lot and I hope you have a good day and great support :)

2023.03.21 18:28 Seulgussy [F4A] The Transfer Student and the Frat Boys. A tale of Opposites and Triumph.
It’s odd. Being the only female on your sports team, no? Is it really a team? Even though the group consists of five players, it’s more so just a game with yourself at the end of the day. Hitting balls around a green field all day. Maybe some sand, dips and curves along the way. But what was it really? Golf. That boring sport? The one you associate with the rich and old people who are retired. Well for some, many actually, it’s their life. Like a Football player. Or a baseball player. It’s a sport that takes time, knowledge and tons of patience to master. Many try, but often never reach the goal they want to, due to the pressure of the idea. It is only
you. Any mistake is on
you. Everyone’s watching
you. This is that pressure this young woman felt. A top scholar, a bit of a quiet soul, and the only female on her school’s Division 1 Golf team. Now why was she here? Why did they allow a woman into the group? Simple. The team’s highest praised player was out due to injury, and despite the fact this young woman was nothing more than a reserve, she was called up to the main squad for an upcoming tournament. Four grueling days of play, early mornings, tons of walking, and not to mention, eighteen holes of hell. Perform badly enough and you’d be cut, the board getting smaller and smaller every day. Make it to Sunday, that was the goal. Now this wasn’t a problem for most of the team, being one of the best ranked groups in the country, it was sure enough that they’d make it in. The only one they didn’t think who could of course was this young, foreign woman. Foreign? Yep. She was a transfer student from overseas. The team being made up of mostly ‘Frat-Like’ players, it was hard to fit in. English wasn’t her first language, she looked nothing like them, and not to mention there was barely anything in common besides the love of the game.
The team would be posted up in a house, just on the eighteenth hole of the course. It was beautiful, much better than any hotel room. This is where they’d stay the weekend, as there were houses all over the course that would provide shelter for the other teams competing in the tournament. The whole bus ride over, she didn’t say a peep. Headphones on, simply in another world. She was soft looking, but had a hard interior. She was polite, but chose not to speak. The coach was aware of this, but didn’t make any sort of intervention, as everyone was their own person at the end of the day.
The night before the tournament, they all laid up in the house, the boys in the living room having a few drinks before their big day tomorrow, talking about all the girls on campus, their own lives, school, typical college talk. Except for one. Her. Locked away in her room for the night, she stared out at the sunset over the lake on the last hole. She thought to herself that she shouldn’t belong here. That she should just leave. But.. she knew she was here for a reason. Clearly she was good enough to be called up from the other reserves. Or was it just for headlines? She’d be the only female in the tournament, something already breaking Sports News outlets everywhere. It was nerve racking. She’d be interviewed for sure throughout the tournament as it was a televised event. Sure, not as big as the PGA Tour, or some major Golf Tourney, but still, it was exposure. Her parents would be watching, her trainer from when she was younger back home. But that was the thrill of playing at the collegiate level no? Finally getting to experience that national exposure. Unlike the rest, she didn’t care so much about that. She wanted to just play the game. Do as best as she could, prove something of herself. But being surrounded by the best college players around the country didn’t help. Only time and patience would tell if she could prevail and seek a good result, hoping to land a spot on the main squad.
—---
So! This is a little bit of an idea I’ve hatched in my head lately, as it’s more of a Sports, Slice of Life themed story! Now with that being said, I do want to add other elements such as Romance and Drama specifically as we dive further into this story. Just a few things I wanted to go over before you message me so we don’t have to revisit them later!
Who are you? So what I mean by this is, who will you be playing in the story? I’ve compiled a few ideas in my head, but if you think of something else feel free to suggest them.
- One of the players on her team.
- One of the players on another team.
- Her Caddy! Basically guiding her through the tourney.
So these are just my ideas, but again you’re more than welcome to bring your own ideas! Now, another question you might have is,
Do you have to know anything about Golf? The answer is No! Simply put, there will be a lot more involved in this story besides just that, so I don’t expect you to know anything. Though if you do, surely you’ll be able to provide more in those specific scenes though again, It’s not required! I want this story to be open to anyone who comes across it.
—---
Now just some basic rules and regulations to go over! Be yourself! I love more down to earth people, don’t feel like you have to overdue your intro or try to please me! - I will go more over my character as we get into planning, a bio, refs, all that sort of thing. I just want to make sure we match up before all that!
- Please try and reach out to me over chat first! If you cannot, PM is more than ok!
- Any questions you may have I will be willing to answer, there are no stupid questions!
- Please don’t just say “Hey” in your intro! Introduce yourself a little, but again you don’t have to go over the top! I just want to make sure you’re serious about this idea!
- This plot is open to any gender!
And that’ll be it on my end. I’d love to see some of you, though it’s quite a niche plot, I’m hoping to find someone who would love to explore a deep rooted college romance and sports thrill!
See some of you soon! <3

Dear friends,
I’ve been following
Andre Bouchard’s rocky career since the day he took office as the new Chancellor in
Delaware’s
Court of Chancery, and I wrote about the way he handled the Sussex County Register of Wills Office in his first year, which I thought was abhorrent. I’ve been extra critical of him through the
TransPerfect trial, which ended years ago, and somehow, court-payments linger and his old buddies at
Skadden Arps are still collecting nearly six-figure monthly paychecks, thanks to
Bouchard’s atrocious handling of the case.
I wonder which one of his friends could possibly get paid off this time because, in my opinion, the TransPerfect case has been milked for huge amounts of money for the benefit of Delaware’s Good-Ole-Boys Legal Club, aka friends of the Chancellor???
I’m seeing similar suspicious patterns in a new case covered by The Law360 story below, where he’s again being shortsighted, in my view, during a court-supervised sale, which sounds similar to me to the TransPerfect case. where he was, in my opinion, continually attempting to bully the sides into a settlement, rather than just doing his job as a judge.
The Law360 story, says it best, “Chancellor Bouchard, a veteran of epic — and unfinished — battles arising from the liquidation of TransPerfect Global Inc. after a falling-out between its founders.”
I would love to hear your thoughts on this one. In my opinion, this guy, who was never a judge before, somehow through his Democrat politics, getting the chief role at the Chancery Court, is not even learning on the job. Time for him to go!
Respectfully Yours,
Judson Bennett-Coastal Network

Chancellor Rips Critics Of Pharma Sale As ‘Incredibly Naive’
By Jeff Montgomery
Share us on:
Law360 (April 20, 2020, 11:40 PM EDT) — Delaware’s chancellor branded some challenges to the court-supervised sale of drug developer Inspirion Delivery Sciences LLC as “astounding” and “incredibly naive” on Monday, noting that a court order had given a liquidating trustee broad latitude to complete the job.
The comments by Chancellor Andre G. Bouchard during a sale hearing teleconference followed arguments by Michael Yoder of Reid Collins & Tsai LLP that a new auction effort could have produced a better result than the offer of $4 million in cash and up to $10 million in future payments from OHEMO Life Sciences Inc. from royalties on anti-abuse opioid drug compounds.
Yoder, who represents former Inspirion members Raymond DiFalco and Manish Shah, argued that it made little sense for a trustee to “simply accept the first offer from a company insider,” referring to OHEMO, which has ties to IDS member Stefan Aigner.
Chancellor Bouchard, a veteran of epic — and unfinished — battles arising from the liquidation of TransPerfect Global Inc. after a falling-out between its founders, asked if Yoder had fully examined
Delaware law and trustee discretion on the issue.
“I really find that astounding. You didn’t even address the standard of review in your papers,” the chancellor said. “I find equally astounding the notion that you didn’t think insiders would be able to bid. Do you know how most of these contests end? Typically somebody involved with the company buys the other side out.”
Yoder said he was not arguing that insiders could not participate, but said that his clients did not participate because they hoped for a successful sale to a third party and were unaware there were no third parties in the running until recently.
“That just demonstrates extraordinary naivety,” Chancellor Bouchard said. “It all seems so last-minute for your client to walk in here not prepared to do something, and I find it very hard to believe that if they wanted to make a bid, they couldn’t do it all along.”
Differences between Shah and DiFalco and member Aigner over approval and marketing of key anti-abuse drugs MorphaBond and RoxyBond hobbled the business, with Aigner attempting to remove DiFalco as president of IDS.
The court ordered a liquidation after a three-day trial in November 2018, although further disputes and market issues extended the process. The proposed winning bidder was OHEMO, based in Puerto Rico, a company championed by Aigner before the liquidation order as a replacement for the Shah and DiFalco-aligned production operation.
Cerovene Inc., controlled by Shah and DiFalco, made an offer valued at up to $15 million but missed a key deadline for the submission earlier this month, according to Donna L. Culver of Morris Nichols Arsht & Tunnell LLP, counsel to liquidating trustee Derek C. Abbott.
Culver said Cerovene argued that the
COVID-19 crisis and a lack of wire transfer specifics kept the business from making a required bid deposit, but not until “literally minutes before deadline” did the prospective competing bidder “give any indication he could not comply with the deadline.”
Nothing prevented DiFalco and Shah from getting involved through Cerovene earlier, Culver said, adding that the sale opponents also had not shown how the trustee or process represented an abuse of discretion.
Peter B. Ladig of Bayard PA, counsel to Aigner, Acela Investments LLC and two other companies that hold Aigner’s interests in IDS, said the business already had worked through a several-month marketing process, with 81 potential buyers approached, before choosing to move ahead with OHEMO for lack of a better offer.
“This is not, as I think the objectors would have the court believe, a question of having an auction just between the two insiders,” Ladig said. “This was an auction process that ran for months, and it’s really the end of the second process.”
Ladig said nothing in the case record supported claims that Aigner maneuvered the trustee into setting the final, 48-hour window for receipt of a competing offer for the business.
Chancellor Bouchard said he would take the arguments under advisement.
Aigner is represented by Peter B. Ladig and Brett M. McCartney of Bayard PA.
Shah and DiFalco are represented by Carmella P. Keener of Cooch and Taylor PA and William T. Reid IV, Michael Yoder, Jordan L. Vimont and Ryan M. Goldstein of Reid Collins & Tsai LLP.
Liquidating trustee Derek C. Abbott is represented by Donna L. Culver of Morris Nichols Arsht & Tunnell LLP.
The case is Acela Investments LLC et al. v. Raymond DiFalco et al., case number 2018-0558, in the Court of Chancery of the State of Delaware.

2023.03.21 18:12 CJ_Slayer Is this enlightenment?
2023.03.21 18:06 Seulgussy [F4A] The Transfer Student and the Frat Boys.
The coach was aware of this, but didn’t make any sort of intervention, as everyone was their own person at the end of the day.The night before the tournament, they all laid up in the house, the boys in the living room having a few drinks before their big day tomorrow, talking about all the girls on campus, their own lives, school, typical college talk.

Who are you?So what I mean by this is, who will you be playing in the story? I’ve compiled a few ideas in my head, but if you think of something else feel free to suggest them.
- One of the players on her team.
- One of the players on another team.
- Her Caddy! Basically guiding her through the tourney.
So these are just my ideas, but again you’re more than welcome to bring your own ideas! Now, another question you might have is,
“Do I have to know anything about Golf?” The answer is No!
And that’ll be it on my end. I’d love to see some of you, though it’s quite a niche plot, I’m hoping to find someone who would love to explore a deep rooted college romance and sports thrill!
See some of you soon! <3

2023.03.21 18:04 TYCHR_HK How to Write Computer Science IA?
When we think about Computer Science IA, the first thing that comes into our mind is the words “complex” and “confusing”. Whether choosing the right client or structuring our IA correctly, taking care of the minutest of details can throw one off the edge. So here's a guide to get you through all that confusion:
Components of your CS IA are: - Cover Page
- Functional Product
- Documentation which includes a 7 minute video
Criteria that are assessed: - Planning
- Solution Overview
- Development
- Functionality of the product
- Evaluation
IA Key Points - The main aim of the IA is to develop a solution for a specific client for their problem
- Make sure the solution you propose and provide documents demonstrates your algorithmic and organizational skills
- Include more graphical representational tools which will enhance your IA
- Visual content like tables, screenshots, diagrams and charts will make your work credible.
Some Important Terms - Solution – All-encompassing work you submit as the IA
- Product – The software developed which is a part of the solution
- Developer – You are the develop who proposes and executes the solution
- Client – For whom you are developing the product
- Advisor – A mentor who will guide you through
Finding the right Client - It is recommended for you to approach your parents, friends, or relatives as the first option, As they will be your primary source and give you first-hand information
- Make sure you understand your client’s needs and think how you can solve their problem by developing a solution.
- Obtain consent for the use of personal data
- Conduct an interview with your client.
Breaking down the Solution - Product – It is a fully functional product which will be assessed by the moderator. You also have to make a video explaining the functionality of the product.
- Documentation – This acts as a supporting document for your solution. 2000 words is the limit and its inclusive of record of tasks and any form of extended writing for designing and development.

2023.03.21 17:55 lookforabook Maybe going part time is the answer?
I’ve been mulling over an idea and wanted to get some feedback from other parents. My husband and I both work full-time, I am 38 and he’s 40. We have two children, 6 and 3. In terms of temperament, our kids are much more “spirited” than we are, lol. I’m very much an introvert and my husband is somewhere in the middle of the introvert/extrovert spectrum. It would be fair to say our kids are “high maintenance” in ways that I had not anticipated before having kids.
For some reason, I thought this would get a bit easier when they got to school, however, they are in first grade and preschool and if anything, I’m finding the opposite is true. Managing academic things like homework, along with other needs, is more than I anticipated.
I’ve contemplated reducing my hours to part time in the hopes that I could get things a little more organized and provide a calmer home environment for them.
As a sidenote about myself, I struggle with things like organization and time management, so this has been a herculean task for me already, and one that I feel I am not doing particularly well with.
In the grand scheme of things, I understand that societal pressures and expectations already ask more of working parents than they can possibly provide. I don’t harbor any illusions that going to part time would mean a perfectly managed household. But I do see areas that need improvement and I simply can’t address them because I’m tied up with work most of the time.
Is it a pipe dream to think that reducing my hours could help with this? Or will I find myself still feeling like I can’t strike a balance? Has anyone else attempted this and would you mind sharing how it went for you?

2023.03.21 17:34 danict88 Sickness has interrupted our schedule , when does it stop
Parents , how long does it take to get your twins back on a schedule after being sick?
Mine are 21 months and just had a week long bout with something. It started off as fevers, then turned into runny noses and coughs. I’ve been letting them guide me on sleep and noticed they couldn’t handle their normal pre nap 6 h window so I’ve been putting them down at 12 instead of 1, but they have acted so normal today that i figured we would be back on our normal today .
At 12 on the dot they started melting down and I asked them if they wanted to go “upstairs” (their room) and both instantly stopped crying. We got upstairs and after they fought me for diaper changes, they fell asleep within five minutes . So I’m going to assume they still need more sleep but I’m just curious at how long this typically lasts, or if I should be looking at something else as the cause.

2023.03.21 17:32 Duranna144 "New" atheist, eyes wide open (repost with the full text, sorry about that!)
I had posted this on
atheism and was recommended to post it here. Repost since I linked it the first time and it didn't put the text in the post!
First off, if this kind of post isn't allowed, I'm very sorry, I didn't see a rule against it, but feel free to remove it and let me know!
Secondly, I'm sure my story isn't unique and you've all heard it thousands of times, but I needed to get this out there and I can't think of a better place than the sub I avoided for many years because of my former religion.
I'm a "new" atheist. I say "new" because I think I've known I didn't believe anymore for quite some time, but a combination of stubbornness and fear kept me thinking I did. Ironically, it was fighting against my disbelief that finally got me to admit it... the more I sought information about the bible and christianity, the more it just kept falling apart for me.
And when I did finally admit it to myself, oh man did the blinders fall off and fall off hard. I started making TT videos just to get my thoughts out there (name not related to my reddit account, so don't go searching for me, this isn't an advert haha), trying to make sense of my new lack-of-belief and why I felt the way I did, and the immediate attack I got from fundamentalists was insane. And the more I tried to talk through my thoughts, the worse the attacks got. Not discussions, not believers trying to guide me, but just attacks. Personal attacks on me as a person, my intellect, whether I was ever actually a christian or ever actually sought god, on how my parents didn't raise a "real man," but never anyone sitting down and actually trying to explain what was wrong about what I was saying... Just attacks.
I found fellowship in others who had recently deconstructed (some all the way, like me, and some just away from the fundamentalist christianity I was a part of), but also discovered first hand why phrases like "no hate like christian love" were a thing. The arguments I used to make as an evangelical and apologist suddenly sounded SO superficial when I no longer started with all the presuppositions I had as a believer.
Like I just started admitting to myself I didn't believe anymore barely two months ago, and I went from "maybe I don't actually believe, lets get these thoughts out into the void" to "how could I ever have believed this stuff" in that time period. Once the indoctrination was cracked, the entire thing shattered.
Anyway, I just had to share... I feel like so much weight has lifted off my shoulders, I feel like I'm part of this wonderful dumpster fire we call our world, and I feel like my life has actual meaning now instead of just being here to serve a god that never showed any care for me other than to "save" me from the punishment he created due the rules he set in place for the curse he placed on us in the first place (granted, I don't think any of THAT is real anymore either, but that was the start of my coming to terms with my disbelief).
Thank you for coming to my ted talk, and I hope I can learn more about life without religion in this sub!

2023.03.21 17:16 yellowwallpaperbias The Ex of Many Names, Hermie
Hey there S? H? E? I've called you so many names, not sure what I'd use today -
Welcome, from the island of misfit toys. Don't think we've talked since you kicked me out in 2015 over a look I never gave your gf (now wife). I don't mean it to sound harsh or that I am still angry. I'm not. It's just what happened.
In fact, I was pretty happy for you. It's true that neither R or I ever cared for her much, but it was clear you were enamored and that was enough for both of us. I can even understand her hesitation at you living with an ex, even though I was also happily partnered. It was mostly how it went down rather than that it went down.
Anyway, that's ancient history.
So why write to you? We're no contact, and to be frank I imagine we'd both like it to stay that way. My guess is your time as an LEO has shifted you even further to the right, and my time away from so much, especially my abusive family, has given me time to fully experience myself and those around me. I've become an even louder leftist, far left of wherever you'd have imagined I was then. I'm pretty sure we were doomed to be incompatible, as friends or otherwise.
Put simply, I'm writing to tell you I forgive you for how you ended our friendship. I'm also writing to say that I know I didn't react well, and that in our 10 years of friendship/relationship, I did you wrong on a number of occasions too. I've found the space to forgive myself, but recognize you don't have to (and I'm not waiting for it). I do hope you're well. I hope your marriage is a happy one. I hope your family is well. I always had a soft spot for your dad. He was firm, but fair. A parent you know as well as I that I didn't have access to.
I'm also writing because even though we (in my estimation) will never be friends again, I know that we shared deeply painful secrets and periods of our lives together. I still have memories of some of those more severe times - times when each of us worried about whether the other would ever, ever really recover from what we'd experienced.
And I need you to know that I don't need to be your friend in truth to be able to continue to hold those hurts for you, if ever the need arises. And I say this because I require that I be a person who would help, regardless. That if a panic attack happened, a hospitalization, if the need for a shoulder who was there 12 years ago and acutely understands in a way new friendships don't arises, I would want to help. Because I still have R, and A, and B, and those precious friendships which have survived 15+ years. I don't know if you do, and everyone deserves someone who was there. Someone who will not revise history. Someone who will not try to make it okay, but will make sure you're ok.
So not friends. But if you need an emergency contact, you're not blocked anymore.
Until then, first - middle - last names all accepted, I hope you're well.

2023.03.21 17:14 Anonymeet J'en veux a ma mère
Bonjour

2023.03.21 17:07 MjolnirPants Jerry and the Apocalypse: Part 53
Part 52 Glenda Wilmington, Kinda Digging This Whole Cop Gig "If you hear anything else, give me a call," Glenda said, handing the woman a business card with her cellphone number on it. The woman accepted it and then squinted skeptically at it.
"Cooperation with an investigation is the sort of thing that parole boards like to hear about," Glenda said in response to the woman's look. That seemed to do the trick. The woman slipped the card into her ample cleavage and met Glenda's eyes.
"I will call. I have no loyalty to that man." Her sing-song Norwegian accent, as well as her tall, thick frame and bright, yellow-blonde hair contrasted with the environment; a run-down housing project in the heart of Compton. But housing for convicted felons on parole was limited, and she'd had few choices in this area. Glenda wondered idly why the woman hadn't elected to return to Norway, where they tended to be a bit more sympathetic to ex-cons. The woman, Duke's one-time head channeler, didn't seem prepared to answer any more questions, however.
Glenda nodded and stepped back. The woman took a step outside, careful to keep the foot with the ankle monitor inside the door and took a look around before withdrawing back into the house. Glenda turned and walked down the steps off the creaky wooden porch and back to the rental car, where Jack dozed lightly in the passenger seat, his cowboy hat pulled low over his eyes. She climbed behind the wheel, trying not to wake him, and started the engine.
He woke anyways. Jack had always been a very light sleeper. He turned his head slightly towards her, not adjusting the hat at all.
"Anything?" he asked. Glenda shook her head. "Nobody's heard from him. I think it's safe to say he's not looking to connect with any of his old associates, at this point."
"Ayup," Jack agreed. Glenda pulled away, heading north, towards the 105 that would take them back to the airport. They were done here. As she drove, she couldn't help but note the scowling, suspicious faces that turned to watch them. She took in the low, chain-link fences that separated yards, the equally low concrete block walls that surrounded paved driveways. The odd mix of Spanish colonial and more traditional American architecture was like a sign. It told her that she could find a bag of the white lady, a bag of weed, or a bag of something more exotic here. She could find a gang, beefing with another gang, and maybe convince one side to pay her to make someone on the other side vanish.
It was almost nostalgic.
They passed a tan-painted Spanish colonial house with a faux wrought-iron fence, and she knew right away that a dealer lived there. The child's play set in the front had never been touched by anything more careless than the wind and rain. The SUV in the driveway might have belonged to a small family, except for the large speakers she could see through the rear window. The tint on the windows of both car and home added to the effect. The kicker, though, was the white-haired, middle-aged man stepping out the front door to squint suspiciously around before heading back up the street in the direction of the channeler's home, where Glenda had spotted him walking this way just a few minutes ago.
Without bothering to ask anyone, she could say with confidence that whoever lived there sold mainly cocaine, but he also had cheap weed for those who couldn't afford the prices at the dispensary. He'd have rocks too, but he probably wouldn't sell them to you if you knew where he lived. He'd sell them on the weekends, manning a street corner, alongside a thug from whatever gang he ran with or paid tribute to.
Everyone knew they were cops, of course. Years of living in rural Canada had faded Glenda's tan and affected her fashion choices. Once, she'd have moved through an area like this in gym shorts, sneakers and a faded old t-shirt with the sleeves cut off. Showing off enough muscle to make the usual idiots think twice about harassing her, but not showing off so much skin than people might take her for a street worker with a schtick. Today, she drove in blue jeans, hiking boots and a flannel shirt. Next to her, Jack wore the same, complimented with a denim jacket. Only a couple of cops would dress like that in this neighborhood.
Though that wasn't strictly true -Jack's jurisdiction ended many hundreds of miles north of here- it might as well be. They were private investigators, working on behalf of the federal government, who was footing the bill for Dylan's recapture. Whether or not they were technically considered law enforcement officers depended entirely upon their needs and some paperwork. So far, they hadn't needed any LEO powers.
As she turned onto the 105 and marginally sped up in the dense traffic of the highway, Jack's phone rang. He begrudgingly lifted the brim of his hat up, squinting in the bright daylight at his screen. Apparently satisfied with what he saw there, he hit the accept button and pressed the phone to his ear.
"S'Jack," he said, then he listened for a bit.
"Ayup," he said. He glanced out the window, then covered the tiny mic at the bottom of the phone. "Get off the highway," he said to Glenda. She nodded and put on her turn signal, eyes searching for a chance to get over. A minivan in the next lane, slightly ahead of them, promptly slowed down to pace them.
"Awwright," he drawled into the phone. "We'll check it out. 'Preciate the heads up. Take care, now."
He pulled the phone away from his ear and tapped the screen again before slipping it back into his pocket jacket.
"That was intel. Said that a bank account belonging to one Dylan Boucher just got emptied by a wire transfer to one Derek Garcia. Just a hair over ten grand. Transfer woulda taken place about a week ago, intel didn't pick up on it until it cleared."
"Garcia, that's the one that calls himself the 'Planewalker', right?"
"Ayup," Jack said. Glenda finally got tired of trying to get behind the minivan and sped up to cut him off, instead. Jack could see that it was being driven by a heavily tattooed white kid with dredlocks. He honked and flipped them off, but she ignored him. She'd had her turn signal on, and tried to get behind him, but he had slowed down and sped up to block her.
Out of pure spite, she tapped the brakes a few times.
Jack bounced forward against his seatbelt as she did and gave her a dirty look. She smiled sweetly at him. "What? That's how you drive around here. You used to live in Atlanta, you've got to know this by now."
"We didn't generally make an effort to piss people off in Atlanta," he grumbled. Glenda turned onto the ramp to get off on Crenshaw, heading south.
Glenda scoffed. "Now you're just lying. I've been to Atlanta. Worst drivers in the bottom half of the country by far."
"You sure about that?" Jack said, eyeing the rear-view mirror. Glenda glanced up to see the minivan still behind them, the driver jabbing his finger at them and ranting.
"Huh," she said. "Maybe this fucker's about to prove me wrong."
"Well, we need to get gas anyways, if we're driving all the way down to San Clemente," Jack said. "Might as well pull over at the first station we see and get it over with."
Glenda chuckled, mostly at what the angry man behind her was about to experience and kept her eyes peeled for a gas station.
The minivan never wavered, staying behind her through multiple lane changes, all the way down to Artesia Boulevard, where she finally found a Shell station. She pulled in and pulled up to a pump.
"You wanna have a white knight moment, or is today an 'equality of the sexes' day?" Glenda asked as the minivan pulled in behind them and stopped, blocking the entrance.
"Sheeeit," Jack drawled. "I mean, I guess I'll handle him if ya want..." He unbuckled his seatbelt and opened his door as the irate young metalhead stomped towards them. He made sure to be outside the car by the time the kid got within angry dick-measuring distance.
"What the fuck is your bitch's problem, asshole?!" the young man demanded. Jack didn't answer, he simply strode forward, within striking distance. Normally, Jack liked to deliver a good, bone-chilling threat, followed up by taking a more reasonable tone as he continued to stare through whomever was causing problems and imagine himself blowing their head off as he de-escalated the situation. It was a tactic that had served him well, many times. But today, Jack was tired.
He'd been hunting Dylan down for weeks now, and only just got their first promising lead as this little shit had gone out of his way to stop them from changing lanes for no discernible reason. So Jack simply slugged the kid right in the nose. He caught him off guard and sent the kid sprawling onto his ass. Before he could gather himself back up, Jack kicked him in the chest with the sole of his boot and drew his large revolver. He crouched down, boot still pinning the kid to the ground, and held the gun casually where the kid could see it.
"You know what a turn signal means?" he asked calmly. The kid's eyes went wide as he spotted the gun.
"Y-y-yeah," he stammered.
"Good. Ya had a little lapse of judgement there. Ya might wanna see to that." Jack stood, holstering his gun and walked back over to open the gas cover and insert the company credit card into the pump. He picked the mid-grade and inserted the fuel handle, locking the valve open before he turned back.
The kid was still sitting there, wiping blood from his mouth where his nose was bleeding. "They oughta have napkins inside," Jack told him mildly. "They're usually by the hot dogs."
Jack filled the tank while the kid picked himself up and went inside. A cop arrived a few minutes later, stopping in the entrance that the kid was blocking and turning his lights on. The cop stepped out and walked around the minivan and into the gas station.
Jack waited for the tank to fill, then replaced the nozzle and climbed back in the car.
"You wanna stick around?" Glenda asked. "Shoot the shit with the locals, make sure the kid gets the short end?"
"Naw," Jack said. "Read about the LA cops. Not exactly whom I'd like to consider comrades-in-arms, if you catch my meaning."
Glenda shrugged and they pulled out right as the kid and the cop both emerged back into the parking lot. Glenda thought the cop look pissed and the kid looked dejected.
They got on the 405 and drove it down to California 73, then took that south to Interstate 5, which brought them to San Clemente an hour later. Glenda got off the highway and turned into a neighborhood full of upscale, tightly-packed Spanish colonial homes. Unlike Compton, most of the yards weren't fenced, and those that were tended towards white picket fences. The lawns were universally well-cared for and nobody looked twice at them as they drove through the neighborhood and up to the address highlighted on the GPS.
It was a small, modest-looking home with a distinctly 70's asthetic. It didn't match most of the tile-roofed, square walled homes around it, but it hardly stood out, either. A BMW sat in the driveway, framed by a pair of shaped topiary trees. It looked like something off the cover of some homemaking magazine, Glenda thought.
They parked on the street and climbed out.
"The air is crackling with magic," Glenda said. "He's in there, doing something right now."
Jack walked up and pounded on the door. Glenda held up a hand, fingers splayed. Jack would understand what she meant. The magic was currently at a five, and she'd let him know if it diminished, and by approximately how much.
She kept her hand still for a while as nobody answered the door. Five minutes passed before Jack turned to her.
"Okay, this is your gig, now," he said. He walked back to the car, opening the trunk to reveal the bound, squirming and sweating Caliope there. He yanked her gag down and fed her from a water bottle.
"Been a long drive, ain't it?" he asked, conversationally. Caliope sucked greedily at the bottle, managing to drink every drop that didn't get splashed into the trunk.
"Fuck you," she muttered weakly. Jack smiled. "Looks to me like you're the one what's fucked, darlin'. Guess you shouldn'ta gone and fucked with your sister's collar like that. I mean, if you'd played by the rules, we'd have overlooked the whole issue of you not actually being any help whatsoever, and taken your good faith efforts as enough to fill your end. But ya had to go behind our backs, causing trouble. So now you're stuck in a trunk until we get back to the airport."
"Fuck you," she gasped again.
"'Scuse me," Jack said, reaching past her for an armored vest. He pulled it out and tugged it over his head, getting the flaps velcroed in place and adjusting it. When he was done, he pulled Caliope's gag back up.
"Awright, girl, you jes sit tight while we check this out. Won't be but a little bit, then we'll be heading to the airport."
She tried to say something, but the gag turned it into a muffled wail. Jack smiled as he closed the trunk and returned to the front door. Glenda stood there, watching him, fully kitted up with her armor and a carbine in her hands.
"Ready," Jack said. Glenda turned and, without preamble, kicked the door open with a thunderous blow. She rushed inside, rifle up and leading the way, Jack hot on her heels. Neither made it very far, though.
The living room had been converted into a ritual chamber. The walls were festooned with runes and the twisting lines that connected them. The floor had a large, ornate circle in the middle, runes etched into it and twisting, spiral designs encasing the whole thing. But that wasn't what gave them pause.
In the middle of the circle hovered a shimmering mirage, through which Glenda could see a city. It looked like something out of a sci-fi film, all rounded corners and smooth, off-white concrete. The windows in the buildings were mirrored, or else none of them had lights on inside, because they all reflected a sunrise coming from behind the view.
"What the hell's that?" Jack asked. Glenda carefully felt the magic around the apparition. "I think it's a portal."
"Okay, so where does it go, do ya think?"
"I haven't got a clue. I don't recognize that city."
"Kinda looks like Mos Eisley, a hundred years after they found oil or something," Glenda said.
"Think that's what Dylan was paying for? A trip to wherever that is?"
"Looks like," Glenda mused. "We're gonna need to call this in."
"Ayup. Let's clear the house, first."
They did just that. They found a den set up in one of the bedrooms, an obviously-lived-in kitchen and a master bedroom used for its intended purposes. In the last bedroom, they found an arsenal and storage space. It was full of survival and camping gear, weapons and ammo.
"Missing rifle," Jack said, peering at a gun rack.
"Yup," Glenda agreed. She opened an ammo tin. It was only half full.
"Somebody geared up here," she said.
Jack sighed. "Let's call it in, then. We'll hand over our little helper when the backup gets here."
----
It took two hours to get a team there, mostly because the LA regional office was all the way up in Burbank. But they eventually arrived. Two security officers took Caliope off their hands, to bring her back to prison. They brought another collar, to replace the modified wet blanket spell Glenda had been holding since the riot. It hadn't seemed like a lot of effort to hold the spell in place, but as soon as she finally let it go, she felt a wave of relief.
"Julie sent some extras along," the leader of the relief force told Glenda once Caliope had been seen to. She'd already spotted the two middle-eastern men in different uniforms than the rest. She thought she recognized the older one.
"We'll take all the help we can get. Any of you boys willing to go jaunting across reality with us?" The man chuckled. "No, thanks. Besides, we've got orders to secure this building and wait for the feds. Gonna see if there's anything illegal here, so we can nab this Garcia fellow as soon as he gets back."
Glenda nodded, then looked at the two middle-eastern men. She jerked her head in a 'come here' gesture and they stepped forward.
"Glenda, right?" the older one asked, holding out a hand.
"Yup," she said as she took it. He shook firmly, then let go. "I am Aqib, and this is my assistant, Mateen. We've been running around, helping out where we can for months now. It seems it is your turn to accept our assistance."
"Either of you got any magic?" Glenda asked. Mateen hefted his rifle and then tapped his body armor. "All of our gear is enchanted. We have rings, as well," he held up a hand bedecked with silver bands. "They will help us heal from injuries and allow us to see in the dark and other such useful things."
"Good, good," she said, then stopped. Aqib. That name rang a bell. She squinted at the middle-aged man.
"You were at the Wyrm facility when we took it," she said. "About six years ago." He nodded.
"I was with your friend when she fell. She saved my life," he said. Glenda nodded. "I remember that. I'm glad you're still here, then. Glad you're with us. I, uh..." She stopped speaking before she got choked up and cleared her throat.
"Are you two ready?" she asked.
"We have our gear," Aqib said, nodding at a pair of large backpacks leaning against one of the DCM branded trucks. "Camping gear, food and water for three days. Spare ammo, tools. We were told you had much more supplies yourself."
"Yup. I've got fresh food, enough for a couple of weeks for the four of us. Plus a couple months worth of dehydrated foods, MRE's and other food that'll keep for a while. I've got water and other shit to drink, camping gear, etcetera, etcetera. As long as you guys brought your own tents, we're golden."
"That is good," Aqib said.
"Do you have battery packs?" Mateen asked.
"Battery packs?" Glenda responded.
"Yes, for phones and other electronics. To keep them charged. I have a solar recharger, but it takes a long time, and it isn't always convenient to set it up."
Glenda shook her head. "Nope. Never been much for carrying a bunch of electronics around. Besides, I doubt our phones will work, where we're going."
Aqib grinned at his companion. "No video games until we're done, Mateen," he said. Mateen rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah."
"Mateen is still a child at heart, even though he has children of his own," Aqib explained as he stepped forward to get a good look at the portal, still hovering in the middle of the room.
"As long as he can fight," Glenda said. Jack approached, finished with the field paperwork. He had a backpack slung over one shoulder, and a rifle slung over the other. He still wore his armor.
"He fights like a cornered dog," Aqib said mildly. At Glenda's quirked eyebrow, he clarified. "He is very fierce."
"Good," Glenda said. She turned to Jack and gave him a quick kiss. "We ready?"
"Ayup," Jack confirmed. "All the paperwork's done, we're good to go."
Glenda pushed past Mateen and Aqib as they moved to pick up their packs. "I'll take them," she said. Mateen frowned, but Aqib simply nodded and stood back. She grabbed both packs and sent them to hammerspace, accepting Jack's pack and giving it the same treatment. Mateen shook his head slowly, but Aqib seemed unimpressed.
"Okay, let's boogie," Glenda said and strode through the portal before she could work up any doubts.
----
"None of 'em rotted," Jack said. "They're all mummified. All the plants are dead, but none of them are rotted, either." He stood in what seemed like a small park, a few trees growing in clusters at the four corners, and an open field of dead grass in the middle. Bodies lay strewn about, adults and children alike. Many lay draped over the benches, or slumped in a pile in front of them. One cluster of small bodies had a large, rubber-ish ball laying next to them, as if they'd died in the middle of some sort of game.
Glenda eyed the surroundings. They hadn't encountered a single living being in the hours they'd been moving through this city. "What do you think happened here?" she asked.
"I'll be honest, I ain't got a fucking clue, darlin'," Jack said. They stood in silence for a bit, reflecting on what they'd seen and wondering about it. An entire city, dead. No signs of decay, except for rusted metal. Glenda had seen large piles of rust that she took to be cars, based on the plastic and ceramic components still in them, along with the bodies. An entire city, dead. And yet the bodies remained. They'd held up better than the metal, for sure.
Mateen came around a corner at a jog and made a beeline for them. "Aqib has found something, a fresh body. Recently killed."
"Lead the way," Glenda told him. They followed him back around the corner, two blocks down and then around another corner, where they found Aqib standing over a bloody, headless corpse, resting against a building under a sign written in a language Glenda didn't recognize.
"Sheeit," Jack said as they drew up. "That's certainly out of place. Wonder where his head got to."
"Over here," Mateen said. He gestured to what looked like a bus stop with a trash can next to it. There, fetched up against the trash can was a severed head. A sparse trail of blood led from the body to it. Glenda walked over and crouched down, peering at the head.
"I think this is Garcia," she said. She pulled the photo she had of the man from hammerspace, checking it against the head.
"I think you're right," Jack said, peering over her shoulder. "And the chopped off head. That sounds like something Dylan would do."
"I think we're on the right track then," Glenda said. "But how do we know what direction he went?"
She straightened up as they all looked around. Nothing stood out to them.
A moment later, a terrifying roar sounded from off in the distance. They all turned towards it, weapons rising.
"I do not like that, but I think we know what direction to check now," Aqib said.
"'Fraid I gotta agree with ya," Jack said.

2023.03.21 16:52 Felido0601 [Online][Fate Condensed][Play-by-Post] Grand Princedom's Army
Hey, I'm looking for players for a Play-by-Post game set in my homebrew fantasy / early steampunk setting using the FATE system.
The Grand Princedom of Razovia has been unified, and with its newfound capabilities underwent a technological revolution, creating incredible machinery once and rousing its people to strive for horizons thought impossible. Whether they are guided by a sense of duty, the desire to climb the ranks and earn glory for themselves, or other reasons, the characters would be members of a squad following their army on a military campaign.
However, the game would be far from pure combat: dealing with your comrades, impressing your superiours or even negotiating with your enemies might all be necessary to succeed. Possible inspirations include Sharpe, maybe Kingdom of Heaven, and similar works that I might have forgotten at the time of writing this.
For more info on the setting and the rules:
I am in the GMT +3 timezone and post at around 6 PM to 1 AM at least once per day, thought I don't mind people from vastly different timezones. My posts of medium length, normally a short paragraph or more for introductions and longer descriptions. If you are fine with that, and can likewise post once a day or notify if you can't, feel free to apply by PMing me here or on Discord Енот Василий#1753 with answers to the following:
- Have you played in PBP format before, and have you played FATE?
- Are there any favourite moments you'd like to share from your past games?
- Do you have any ideas on what kind of character you would like to play?
I'd also like to note that there are no wrong answers here, even if you are completely new or don't know what you'd like to play.

2023.03.21 16:51 prof_tamura Is lifting for aesthetics a vapid reason to lift?
Recently got a little bit of flak over this, nothing too serious, some of my friends and family kept making some jokes about me. I'm the only one I know outside of the gym who takes lifting this seriously, counting macros, logging my daily workouts, trains hard etc. Their jokes implied that lifting for looks is a vain pursuit, it won't actually get me any girls or anything, only dudes will care. They also implied that I have an eating disorder because of counting macros (I am not even that serious, I just keep a log of what I eat). My parents are also kinda jerk about this, but maybe it's just typical south asian parents. And I'm only 5'8 so I also get the "compensating" joke a lot which sucks the most.
I tried to find some grand reason for why lifting is a noble pursuit and not vapid but so far, I found none. I really want to improve the way I look, I want broad shoulders, wide back, abs, nice pecs etc. I'm not saying that "I lift weights, women where?", but if I get in a relationship, I do want my partner to be attracted to me and my muscles. I don't want her to only want me for my personality, I want both. I don't only lift to be attractive to women, but it is one of the main reasons to do so. Does all this make me a shallow person? Do you think it's a bad reason to lift?
Why do you lift?
