My employer (financial services) provides a stipend for a work laptop. I’m looking for a laptop that handles office tasks easily but can also play games decently when I travel.
In short I want a “stealth” gaming laptop that I can take into a board room without looking like a turbo nerd but can also play games while I travel.
I’m thinking a Blade 14 or 15 with a D-Brand cover slapped over the logo but the latest gen seems to have a short battery life.

The family unit is priceless, whether it be large or small.

I want to move for mental heath reasons as winter in madison is extremely depressing. I feel like it’s not the same as it was when I was a kid, instead of deep snow all winter long it’s pretty much just grey and brown slush or no snow at all and everything is dead. I’ve heard the PNW is one of the most beautiful places to live in the world. And considering I’m a huge hiker, cyclist, camper and, snowboarder I feel I’d love it there.
I’m just worried that 1. I’m from WI and people won’t be as nice as I’m used to lol 2. Winter will be just as depressing 3. I won’t be able to find work

Had a few items that are potentially related:
1) With visualization is the goal to “project” the image into your eyeballs, or to form it more in the mind itself? When meditating I can try to “see” with my eyes, and when doing so there are all kinds of patterns and things happening. But that’s very different from blocking that stuff out and trying to do it internally. Really feels like there are two different systems at play?
2) I’ve been breaking my meditation into 10 minute chunks split by a bell, one for each exercise. The three colors portion seems a little “light” for taking up the full time. Is overcoming my impatience part of the exercise, or should I be splitting the time differently?
3) With the colors sitting there I kind of want to play with them. Move the red and white arms back and forth, squeeze the central blue a bit to make it taller, rotate my view around my body to imagine the stripes. Is this sort of thing encouraged, or is it going against the lesson? I’ve also thought about adding scents to the colors to keep them straight. Is improvisation a good thing here, or my brain’s way of dodging the work?

I enjoy early attacks and trying to change my opponents plans before it get into a long dragged out game. Tbh I’m not very good once it gets to that point. But English is very hard to disrupt because of the short bows and NoC. What’s your strategy that works to stop for example a fast castle or two tc play?

So, I've seen a lot of people who don't really get salvaging and I thought I'd clear some things up.
• Erkul is wrong, scraper modules CAN be swapped out. The Cinch scraper is useless outside of drawing dicks on ships. Use an abrade and a trawler, then forget you have the abrade. You don't get the salvage bonus the reclaimer has, but the trawler is still worth it.
• Always set a QT point. I've blown up and robbed a bunch of vultures because they had no escape plan, they just went into an asteroid field with no quick route out. You have a lot of hull HP, just use a quick spooling drive and be ready to fire it up when you see a blue triangle.
• Stack 23 scu of boxes. Short trips aren't worth making. Fill your grid, fill the side and then eject the final box. You CAN do 25, but the extra work isn't worth it when you see how much screwing around it takes. 23 is quick and easy. Everyone I've seen blow up from loose boxes tried to do 25.
• TDD terminals are where you want to sell. vngd.net/trade-terminals has the most complete list I've seen. (Not affiliated with them, the wiki just doesn't have a list)
• Sometimes your cargo just won't show. I don't have a good answer for this one. You can use a second ship to unload into and then sell from there, and that usually works. You can also offer to sell to other players for less than it's worth. That's obviously more risky, although not so bad since tractor beams work in armistice now.
• Your scrapers are on gimbals. Hit G to switch to gimbal mode in tight spaces so you don't need to move your ship.
• Shields need to be down to salvage! If you're a player planning to abandon your ship floating outside a station, feel free to just shut it down. You'll need to claim it anyhow, and this way someone will benefit from it. I haven't checked to see if salvaging gives a crime stat, but I believe it does if the ship hasn't been destroyed, so keep an eye out for the comms icon. If you're unsure of a ship has shields up, enter salvage mode, get in range and it'll tell you if it's shielded.
• This one is going to be controversial and I'm not sure if it's intended. You can salvage your own ships. I'll let your imagination fill in the rest. I'll remove this one if someone shows an official statement saying not to do it.

so i started messing around with attachments as i do, and i got to the hk416. and ooh boy, i made this thing pretty much a laser. the setup that i personally use is: Kousaku OLED, ARS suppressor, sideways grip, tri-laser, and armor piercing. and it's really good compared to the old "meta" setup for it. it has sight kickup to the left and im sure it's cause of sideways, but regardless it works really well.

I am not much a statistics guy - but the way I played over the last 1000 games was for me pretty decent with 1900 WN8 and my WR increased to an all time high. So far so good.
But why do these days like today occur once in a while, where I get a ass whooping 35% WR after approx 40 battles by playing the same way that brought me to the better results.
Sure you can’t win them all, and there is a reason it’s called random and there is RNG. But how can you have a stable and slowly improving gaming/skill level over weeks and all of a sudden you have a day where nothing works, while literally playing the same way.
Did I just ran into everyone that is better than me on the very same day?
It’s not a rant, I am just confused.

TL;DR: the directionality of the circle pulls at the end of games has too much influence over the outcome of the game. IMO, the circle should simply begin shrinking sooner in the game rather than moving.

The tldr is pretty much the issue thesis: the outcome of any given WZ game is too heavily influenced by where the circle decides to pull late-game.
Particularly in rebirth where there are are no recons, there’s no way to deliberately and strategically position yourself (with respect to circle movement) in the later stages of the game. It’s a coin-flip whether it pulls your way and you get that huge advantage, or if it pulls the opposite way and you end up having to sprint to outrun the circle.
My solution is that circles should simply begin shrinking earlier in the game than they currently do. When the circle shrinks, everyone knows what the most advantageous position is to be: the center. If you want to take a strategic position relative to the circle, you have to take on the risk of increased exposure (because others will want to be there as well). That seems fair, trading good position for increased risk. As it stands now, there is no similar strategic trade off, it’s just luck. Most players ride the edge of the circle late game and simply hope for a good pull.
Now, I’m not trying to say it’s impossible right now to win games when you don’t get the circle pull in your direction, but it is most certainly made exponentially harder.

I know a couple who are engaged. Their wedding date is two years away, and they have been living together for 4 years. (Bear with me, this is relevant.) The guy made some bad choices and got a DUI last year in another county. He has been sober for over 6 months, goes to AA, and has a good management-position job which is salaried. He doesn't drive because his license has been suspended. He has a friend who works with him that brings him back and forth from work. The judge was kind, she has known him for many years and wants him to succeed. He just wants to pay his debt to society and be done with it. The sentence was house arrest. Now, here is where the drama comes in. The girl happens to work as a pre trial officer for the county of corrections where they live.
This week, they have both been bullied and threatened from various people who are NOT who he reports to regarding house arrest, but have other roles in the dept of corrections. He's been told that he has to move and he can't live with his fiancee. She was pulled into her directomanager's office and was screamed at that she didn't tell anyone that they were together. (Relevant people were aware.) Also, a number of the females in the office of had trouble with this particular man. He screams at people, women, and apparently is an all around jerk in general.
Her job doesn't have anything to do with the house arrest, she wouldn't have any work related to anything that has to do with his case. There is no conflict of interest according to other people in the dept of corrections. It looks like the only issue is that she works for the same county where his house arrest is. But she doesn't work with that office.
No paperwork has been filed indicating they're doing anything wrong. No one has indicated to them that a law is being broken. There does not appear to be any real conflict of interest because the departments don't collaborate or interact. They are both being harassed by different people.
He has had issues with the house arrest officers (I'm not sure of the official title) where they wouldn't let him work for the first 5 days of his house arrest, even though he is done everything that was required of him in a very timely manner. They also informed him that they are no longer allowed to have their home security cameras on or connected. Appointments, paperwork, etc, everything has been turned in, in the right order. Today, in the middle of a work meeting in the afternoon, his house arrest bracelet went off blaring loud noises. When he called in, they claimed that he wasn't supposed to be at work, and he never turned in a schedule. He told them he dropped off the work schedule at 8:20 that morning, and yes he works the same days/hours every week. RECENTLY, they told him he has to turn in a weekly time card, but a pay stub is not acceptable. When he told them he is salaried and asked specifically what they needed, they didn't give him an answer.
This is a sweet couple, and it looks like somebody has it out for them, but they don't know why. I don't have any legal advice for them. So far I've told them they both need to be documenting each of things that happens and who is involved. He's planning on writing a letter to the judge, because she has indicated that she would advocate for him.
What else can they do? They are planning on buying a home another county over the summer when their lease is up, but that is 5 months away.

Alright. I am trembling with fear and just got out of a panic episode as I type this.
Ever since my OCD started 2-3 years ago, I realize I have allowed myself to get way too much reassurance on every single topic. The amount of reassurance I obtained for myself for many topics and worries was, simply put, extreme to downright confirmatory. By doing so I managed to bury many worries but was always met with another one.
Contrary to what my mind always told me - get over this and its OVER. solve this one last thing and you will be free to live life! every single time i got over one thing, not very long after my mind would dig up either a new topic, or an old topic I thought i was already free from but had only gotten 95-99% confirmation (and not 100%).
Looking back to the very day when OCD first started. Yes, I remember that very day and I wish i was back there so, so bad. I wish i did not do my first compulsion and just disregarded that thought. of course, i wish i did not commit those mistakes in the first place. but thats done, im only human.
Countless fears (usually related to shame/guilt/being cancelled) have come and gone in 2 years and no matter how real and big and monstrous each of them felt, none of them EVER came true. Not even a fraction of each fear ever came true. Not even the cause of the fear was true (e.g. I feared A possibly leading to B catastrophe. not only did B not happen, A was not even true). (But you know how other past mistakes can always be dug up, exposed again? its always possible still. thats ocd talking ya.)
I realize by requiring 100% confirmation of safety from my past actions/worries, and in fact managing to obtain it for many, I, or OCD, begun to automatically analyze and search every past action and required the same 100% confirmation for all of them. Prior to OCD, i didnt even think about many of the past actions.
Where I stand now - in terms of worries, I have managed to check that most were false. In a sense I am much "Safer" than when ocd first started. My current fear that makes me feel I might as well end my life (im not exaggerating or being dramatic, it is very bad) as such a life is not worth living - it is much less likely to happen and less severe should it happen, than any of my initial fears that i already proved to be untrue. However, the OCD is possibly worse than before. the thoughts come and go repeatedly and while I used to get breaks of a few days or a week or two after doing some extreme compulsions - the ocd fears are like intermixed with my life now and i get breaks of only a few hours to in the very best case a 3-4 days. in a way the emotions are less severe than at the start, that i can confirm, but in a way they are more constant and clingy and dont let go. As I said, I believe this is due to toooooo much reassurance and confirming for years.
So, as much as a i fear this, as much as i dread typing this, i will take all the advice i have received and stop searching the past. stop obtaining confirmations for my fears. Start practicing self-ERP. i will not let a 1% or less chance of catastrophe ruin my life. I fear greatly that I "get over" OCD and all of a sudden, the fears come true. But I know that feeling is part of OCD too. I only have finite years to live, you know? I cant spend all day checking and reassuring. Because the chance of anything REALLY bad happening to me in the real world is much higher than this 0.1% fear of some catastrophe i have. I have made past mistakes but so what - I truly believe that while i have shameful flaws which OCD is telling me are irredeemable, I am a kind and good and helpful person at heart and i am confident all my friends, family, and colleagues will attest to that.
